"X, you said I need to pay my dues, right? So, make me a Maverick Hunter!" I wanted to redraw this MMX7 scene in my style, I also wanted to change Axl's pose a bit (to make him look a bit excited about being a Hunter (?)) and also X's expression to make him look more serious.

This is one of the best lines in the game, and maybe even the entire X series, and I’m really sad that this character is pretty much ruined because of BURN TO THE GROUND lol

Overall I think the English and Japanese versions of this game are both pretty bad, and while I wrote up a thing a while back on my personal blog about how I prefered the way Axl acts in the English version of the Ending, and I think the opposite is true here.

Overall, Axl has a ‘cheeky kid’ personality, and it’s cute, but now and then he gets some different lines. In the ending, I think his ‘cheeky’ line is so unfitting which they give him in the Japanese version, but the English ‘intense’ line is really great.

In this case, it’s the other way around -- in the English version he makes a sarcastic line here like he thinks it’s fun that he’s about to kill his friend. Like he’s literally watching his friend in pain, realizing he has to kill him, and points a gun to him... and then makes a sarcastic joke? lol no. He sounds sad in the Japanese version and his line is much more sympathetic.

I really like the X7 story and characters; I really wish this was a more polished game so more people would like it lol.
