Rewatching rocketear made me nostalgic af

The more I think about it though 😅 I love Nino, but with the way the writers DESTROYED his character in Rocketeer, it's hard for me to really agree that he was "more deserving" in this case just based on that episode... Like I've said before Zoe is just kind of a nothing character to me. She doesn't really add anything to the show but she doesn't ruin anything either so whatever.

But then again ! The reason against choosing Nino to wield the cat was the fact that he is already dating someone and not the fact that he betrayed Ladybug AND Alya's trust by revealing their identities and didn't have any repercussions for it, so wtf do I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hate that Zoe got the cat instead of someone more deserving like Nino. So dumb right up there with the sentimonster twist.

I don’t really have a strong opinion either way, although it would have been HILARIOUS if Nino became the new Chat Noir after all the time he spent slut-shaming him

I know people are sad that marinette support system is declining with her barely talk to her parents anymore and it is really saddening, but adrien support system is now nonexistence with nino just throw the secret out of window and it hit me harder because his support system is never been as huge as marinette and he just lost the last person he could potentially tell his secret at.

It really is sad for the both of them yeah..

The thing is, Marinette has all the resources of a good support system: she has good parents, has lots of good friends, has Alya, heck even has Chat Noir. But she choses to not use them or to distance herself from them (except for Alya - for now) because she doesn't think it's safe and is scared of so many things.

Adrien however does not have the resources Marinette has for a good support system. His home life don't offer him this chance (even more so when his family is literally the villains of the show), he has friends but less than Marinette and cannot see them as often at all, he doesn't have anyone knowing his identity and well, we can't really say he has Ladybug these days as she is distancing herself from him just like he's also distancing himself from her the more he doubts.

The difference as well is that Adrien never planned on telling his secret to someone (well, neither did Marinette but she had reached a point where it was impossible for her mentally to do so, except by being the guardian she's giving herself this option, while Chat Noir has been told repeatedly how secrets identities are important and he'd see that as himself betraying Ladybug's trust to do it, so he doesn't even consider it an option).

But yeah if he was to ever consider revealing himself to Nino, it's been kind of discarded for now because... Nino told him that 1. him and Alya had no secrets 2. he told Adrien their heroes identities which might not make him want to entrust Nino with his 3. he basically called Chat Noir annoying to his face... and that makes me very sad because it's a lot of a misunderstanding but it'll have big consequences

So anyway, I'm rambling (as I do lol) but it's hard to compare the two as they're in two very different situations, none of which are very enviable at the moment... and they're both getting more and more isolated

It's so wild when you think about it like they decided to have freaking dinosaurs and everyone thought it was normal hahaaaa

rena and ladybug made a "two-person plan" without him

and he wasn't one of the two

marinette dupain-cheng—a civilian—knew more about the plan

and told him to stay put or he'd ruin it

he spent the whole fight stuck in a bubble and all he did was get in the way

he missed the optigami fight and it didn't matter

he was the problem that caused rocketear

he broke kagami's heart because of all the times he had to lie to keep his cover

ladybug has skipped so many patrols

he's left her so many unanswered messages

she is busy

she is the guardian

he doesn't really know what that entails

she doesn't share those things with him

but one thing the guardian does

is pick the miraculous holders

he is the only holder that she did not pick

(she thinks he's annoying)

(she doesn't need him)

(she doesn't want him)

(he is useless)

(he is a liability)

(he is chat noir)

(and maybe it wouldn't matter to anyone)

(maybe it would even be better)

(if he weren't anymore)
