Breeding isn’t really one of Robyn’s kinks but she does like the feeling of Ollie’s cum inside her. They mostly have unprotected sex whenever they forget about using a condom. More than 60 LGBTQ+ organizations are calling for broadcasters, competitors, workers, and viewers to boycott 2024’s Eurovision Song Contest following the competition’s decision to include Israel in this year’s event, which takes place in Sweden.

Support for the boycott has come from LGBTQ+ organizations around the world, including QPEN in the United States, Queers in Palestine in Palestine, Pride in Protest in Australia, and Dyke March Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

“Israeli soldiers wave rainbow flags atop the ruins of Palestinian homes destroyed by the Israeli military in Gaza — a cynical attempt to rebrand Israel’s genocide as an act of queer liberation,” the boycott’s organizers said in a press release statement.

The statement likely refers in part to a viral November 2023 post from the state of Israel's official X account, which showed an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier standing amidst rubble it what was reportedly northern Gaza holding a Pride flag that had “In the name of love” written on it in English, Hebrew, and Arabic. The post said that the soldier is “a member of the LGBTQ+ community” who “wanted to send a message of hope to the people of Gaza living under Hamas brutality.” The post was criticized by LGBTQ+ advocates for being a prime example of “pinkwashing.”

The statement continued: “Allowing Israel to participate in Eurovision — an international pop cultural event with a massive LGBTQ+ audience — further contributes to Israel’s desperate pinkwashing attempts.”

The groups’ press release noted that although Eurovision excluded Russia the day after the country invaded Ukraine, similar measures have not been applied to Israel following the January International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling that it is “plausible” that Israel is committing acts of genocide in Gaza. While the ICJ stated that it would proceed on South Africa’s case charging Israel with violation of the 1948 Convention of the Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, the court did not order Israel to stop its military operations. Since Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel that killed 1,200 and took 250 hostages, Israeli military actions have killed over 34,000 Palestinians in Gaza and injured more than 75,000 Palestinians.

This isn’t the first time that artists and LGBTQ+ organizations have protested the international music competition’s inclusion of Israel. Back in 2019, over 100 LGBTQ+ groups endorsed a Palestinian call for a boycott of that year’s competition, which took place in Israel, following what Amnesty International described as “deliberate attempts” to kill and maim Palestinian civilians participating in protests in Gaza.

This past January, more than 1,000 Swedish musicians, including LGBTQ+ icon Robyn, called for Eurovision to exclude Israel from the 2024 competition in an open letter to the European Broadcasting Union, who said in a statement to Billboard that the Israeli public broadcaster KAN has met all the competition rules for this year and is eligible to compete.

Later, in March, over 1,900 queer artists and organizations called on the UK’s Eurovision contestant, queer actor and musician Olly Alexander, to boycott the competition out of solidarity with Palestine.

Eurovision 2024 is set to begin on May 7.

B — BOUQUET : does your muse like flowers? which ones are their favourite?

robyn adores flowers. she thinks they're absolutely beautiful and she's grown to realise that flowers just make her happy. the main reason why robyn applied for a job at opal cove's flower shop was because she wanted to learn more about flowers, especially their meanings. she's kind of obsessed with how flowers are like a language themselves, with different meanings for each type of flower. robyn's favourite flowers are buttercups. she likes them because of their bright yellow colour, but mostly because it was the first flower ollie ever gave her. she still vividly remembers how ollie sneakily plucked her a single buttercup from the neighbour's garden when they were kids.

T — TRUE LOVE : does your muse believe in true love?

robyn does believe in true love and that's primarily because of ollie. she really does believe that ollie is her soulmate, especially since they've been through so much together. she still kind of finds it fascinating how she fell in love with her best friend, even though it took them a while to reach this stage in their relationship. robyn can't think of anyone else that she would want to be with. ollie is truly the only one for her.

V — VALENTINE : how does your muse feel about valentine's day?

robyn loves valentines day! it's definitely one of her favourite days of the year, even if she knows how busy the flower shop will get. robyn is the type of person who will get valentine's day presents for all her friends as well. she usually makes a small bouquet of flowers for them, ollie getting the biggest and most special of them all obviously (even before they started dating), and a little box of chocolates. robyn also doesn't mind what she ends up doing on valentines day. she'll be happy as long as she's with ollie.

2018 has been a year full of amazing memories for me. My son Oliver was born, I got engaged, and I had the chance to see great concerts, interview talented artists, and experience some awesome backstage moments.

As we continue our year in review content series, I’ve taken a look back at all of the music-related moments to come up with a Top 10 list to share.

It wasn’t easy, there were a lot of moments that got left out of this post. But in the end, I think I was able to build a set of stories and memories that I’ll keep with me for years to come.

The Launch Interviews & Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine

In the early part of the year, we were able to work with The Launch winners to offer congratulations and do interviews the morning after their episode aired on CTV across Canada. It was an awesome experience, offering us the chance to talk to very excited and very talented artists.

One of those winners, Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine, have gone on to be one of the fastest rising stars in Canadian music. On the Friday morning that we met them, Elijah and Jamie had been going since the early, early hours, but were still smiling and happy and excited. They were a great hang out in our short time together, and when we saw them again in April when they’d gone Gold with their breakout single, Ain’t Easy we got hugs and laughs all over again.

Having the opportunity to support and work with artists as they start their journey is one of our favourite things, and The Launch was a great chance to do that in 2018.

CMA Songwriters Round With Dean Brody, Jessica Mitchell, Marcus Hummon, And Levi Hummon

In January we went to The Great Hall for a Country Music Association songwriters circle featuring Dean Brody, Jessica Mitchell, Marcus and Levi Hummon, and it was special.

The chance to hear songwriters tell their stories and share their songs in an intimate, acoustic setting is unique. All of the production and extras get stripped away and all that you’re left with is the undeniable power of music. And when Brody, Mitchell, and the father and son Hummons shared their songs that night, there was something extra special about it.

Country music fans will likely recognize song titles like Workin’ On Whiskey, Bulletproof, Don’t Waste The Night, Stupid, Good Goodbye, Time, Born To Fly, Cowboy Take Me Away, and Bless The Broken Road. It’s a playlist that we could put on and enjoy. And on that Tuesday night, we got to hear all of them live with stories and smiles.

There were a lot of feelings in the room, some tears for sure, and some great moments that we didn’t know we were going to get. And those moments are what I won’t forget.

Axe Throwing With The Washboard Union And Morgan Wallen

I like throwing axes, it’s a lot of fun and I’m actually not bad at it. And I was fortunate enough to get to BATL on Cherry St. in Toronto twice in 2018 with country stars, and had a great time doing it.

In February we had the chance to hang out with The Washboard Union to play and then grab some dinner as they previewed tracks from their 2018 album, What We’re Made Of. I didn’t throw very well that day, but we had a good time.

In May I went back to the axe throwing to meet Morgan Wallen, and see if I could do better in the tournament than I did in February. After my interview with the Up Down singer, our group started tossing hatchets and when the dust settled, I was alone at the top, with the tourney win and a trophy (that Wallen signed for me) to bring home.

Good times for sure.

Singing To My Newborn Son

Just minutes after Oliver was born this April, I found myself alone, holding him in the recovery room as we waited for his mom to join us. It was a wonderful, amazing, and surreal moment, and I really had no idea what to do.

I rocked him and paced around the room and when I had no idea what else to do, I started singing to him. And when I decided that singing was the thing to do, there were two songs that immediately came to mind. The first, was one of my favourite all-time songs, The Tragically Hip’s Wheat Kings. The second is a modern country music favourite, Dallas Smith’s Sky Stays The Blue.

I used my softest, sweetest, most in love voice, and it was amazing. Thank God for music.

Lindsay Ell Day At Canadian Music Week 2018

Every year, Canadian Music Week packs our schedule with music of all genres in venues all over Toronto, and in 2018 it gave me two awesome memories to hold onto, including our Lindsay Ell day.

On May 10, we had the opportunity to meet Lindsay for the first time at a downtown hotel for a great interview that touched on her #1 single, Criminal, touring with Keith Urban, The Continuum Project (her John Mayer cover album), her influences and more. But as great as the conversation was, and fantastic as it was to learn all about all of those things and having the ability to share them with fans in our post, Lindsay’s genuine niceness and general excitement for what she does was the best part.

That night, at The Phoenix Concert Theatre, we saw Lindsay Ell up on stage with her band. They rocked through an eight-song set (plus a guitar battle) that included her #1 single, a cover of Mayer’s Slow Dancing In A Burning Room, and more. The performance was full of energy, packed with talent, and was a great part two to our day with the Calgary born singer-songwriter-guitar slinger.

Here’s hoping we get another day like that in 2019.

Opportunities for women in country music to headline concerts and festivals don’t seem to be in abundance in Canada, so when Jess Moskaluke was booked to close the show at the Country Wild Music Festival in Cobourg this summer, we were excited.

I went to the festival on the shore of Lake Ontario early in the afternoon to sit down with Jess for an interview, stayed for the day to watch acts including Robyn Ottolini, Ben Hudson, Alyssa Morrissey, Kansas Stone, and Marshall Dane throughout the afternoon and evening, and then smiled wide as the three-time Canadian Country Music Association Female Artist of the Year took the stage to wow the crowd.

Note: This festival and show were also cool for me as I grew up in nearby Port Hope, ON, and because Ollie and Jess came to meet me, popped backstage to meet Moskaluke, and made it my little dude’s first official concert experience… even though he was sleeping most of the time.

The Cobourg audience sang along to all of Jess Moskaluke’s hits and fan favourites during the show. They showed their appreciation for her talent and enthusiasm, and they cheered especially loud when a birthday cake was brought out to surprise the Saskatchewan singer during the set.

We hope that more opportunities like this come up for women in Canadian country music because we got to see just how great it can be at Country Wild this summer.

The Legend, Alan Jackson At Boots & Hearts 2018

In a long list of live performances that we got to see in 2018, a legend stands out. Alan Jackson at Boots & Hearts was that legend performance this year.

Throughout a 20 song set on the Saturday night main stage, Alan Jackson commanded the crowd, sang hit after hit, and was amazing. The 60-year-old star was everything we could have hoped for in ripped jeans, a button-down shirt, and his cowboy hat. He tossed t-shirts into the crowd, he laughed and sang and generally kept tens of thousands of country music fans in awe.

There are a lot of great concert opportunities every single year, but an opportunity like this was something truly, truly special.

Midland Interview At Boots & Hearts 2018

Over the last few years we’ve been able to interview a lot of artists at Boots & Hearts, but in 2018 we got to cross off a big one from our to-do list when we got five minutes with Midland.

We met up with Mark, Cameron, and Jess, turned on the recorder, and I started talking to the guys while Trish snapped photos and we did the best to maximize our time with the trio. Things started with a lot of jokes and non-music related conversation before we got down to the questions that I really wanted to ask. What we learned more than anything is that these guys are still having a good time, even though they are working extremely hard.

This was the fastest of all of the moments that made their way onto this list, and while it might not seem like anything huge compared to all of the cool things I got to do this year, it’s Top 10 for me.

The Reklaws x 2 At The 2018 Candian Country Music Association Awards Weekend

We’ve been able to keep up with The Reklaws for more than five years now, and there have been some pretty great moments to celebrate with them over that time. But this fall, when the Canadian Country Music Association awards came to Hamilton, ON, we got two great ones that we’ll remember for a long time.

Most obvious is the duo’s win of the Rising Star award during the Sunday night show. It was great to see hard-working, talented, dedicated emerging stars recognized in front of fans and their peers, and for a coast-to-coast TV audience.

But there was a moment on Saturday that made my heart very happy, but that wasn’t a big performance spot.

As The Reklaws closed out their Universal Music Canada showcase set on Saturday afternoon, I noticed a young boy in the front row, leaning as far forward as possible with a plastic flower in his hand. I was taking photos and notes, but saw him out of the corner of my eye, and felt like maybe I could help. I took the flower from the little guy and got as close to the stage as I could, but sadly, wasn’t able to pass it to Jenna as they sang. But it didn’t end there.

When The Reklaws left the stage I handed the flower back to the boy and told him and his mom that I would try to get Jenna to come to say hi at the gate. They made their way to security and I made my way to the side of the stage. Jenna and Stuart had barely gotten off the stage when I approached them and pointed to the young man at the security fence. At that exact moment he was let in, he got to meet the duo, give Jenna his flower, and get photos and hugs and make memories of his own.

It was fantastic to witness, special to have been even just a little part of, and one of the sweetest things I saw this year.

Arkells’ Rally Cry Meet & Greet

One of the coolest musical moments I had in 2018 came as a fan, not as a writer or reviewer or interviewer. To celebrate the release of Rally Cry, Arkells held a meet and greet at Union Station, and I decided to go. I packed up Oliver, got on the GO Train, and we headed in to meet the boys.

The trip was smooth, Ollie was awesome, we met Trish in line, and the three of us listened to the album on the speakers and made our way through the line. And after two hours, we got to the merch table, got our vinyl, and made our way closer to the front. As part of the event, Arkells invited fans to bring t-shirts with them to be printed with custom screens to become Hand Me Downs merch. We brought a blank white onesie for Ollie, and the team LOVED it. Trish and I didn’t get a shirt printed, but the little guy got some sweet merch, he and I got our photo with the band on the riser, and it was a memorable and awesome daddy/baby day + rock & roll day + fandom day.

4 — do they wear their hair down when they sleep, or tied up / braided?

robyn usually likes to keep her hair braided when she goes to sleep. she initially started doing it back in high school when she realised it made her hair look nice when she got up for school the next morning, but kept doing it when she found out that it helps reduce hair breakage. when she's feeling lazy, she usually just keeps her hair down when she sleeps.

14 — do they stay up too late? do they like staying up?

robyn tries her hardest to go to sleep at a decent time but she's not exactly the best at keeping her promises. she's the type of person who'll already be in bed but will still be on her phone for another three hours. ollie is another big distraction for her. it doesn't matter how sleepy she is, if ollie calls or texts her in the middle of the night, she will respond. there have been plenty of times where she'll literally meet ollie at the park near her house in the middle of the night wearing her pyjamas just because he said he wanted to hang out.

34 — are they the jealous type? what are they most likely to be jealous of?

robyn is usually not the jealous type. she never really gets jealous of other people and most of the time just ends up being really happy for them. however, robyn tends to get a little jealous whenever she sees other people flirting with ollie. at first she was in denial, she mostly said that she was protective over ollie that's why she didn't like it when other girls flirted with him, but what pushed her off the edge was when a girl in her class asked her if it was okay if she asked ollie to be her date to the prom. robyn was highkey annoyed and told the girl that ollie was already going with someone else. she asked him to prom as friends later that afternoon when they were hanging out.

robyn still remembers when ollie had saved her from drowning when they were kids. she was probably being a little overdramatic, but she really did think she was going to die that day until ollie saved her from the ocean. in robyn's eyes, ollie was her hero and lifesaver. baby robyn basically thought that she owed her life to ollie since she probably wouldn't be alive if it weren't for him. she admired him a lot and was ecstatic when he said that he wanted to be her friend. she would take any opportunity to tell people that ollie was her hero.

robyn is highkey obsessed with ollie's arms. she will literally take any opportunity to cling on to his arm whenever she can. robyn prefers to hug one of ollie's arms when they're walking around opal cove as opposed to holding his hand. she also loves it whenever ollie envelopes her in a warm hug because it always makes her feel good and safe. robyn genuinely thinks that ollie gives out the best hugs in the world and tbh she probably isn't wrong.

robyn adores how affectionate ollie is. robyn always feels so loved whenever she's around him. she also loves how adventurous and spontaneous he is. there's never a boring moment with ollie as he always finds a way to make the most tedious things fun. robyn just really likes how ollie always seems to the see the bright side of things, his positive attitude often rubbing off on her.

a moment that made my muse realize how much they care about yours

robyn realised she cared a lot for ollie from a young age. it was when ollie had stolen the neighbours cat that robyn, and everyone around her, noticed how much she stood up for him. robyn was there when ollie stole the cat, and even helped him sneak it into his bedroom. whenever anyone asked what they were up to, robyn was quick to say that they were just playing hide and seek. she was also very defensive when ollie got caught, telling his mums that it wasn't his fault and he shouldn't be punished. she went through all of this trouble to defend his actions just because she didn't want to see him upset.

robyn never found the words to tell ollie that she liked him. as in liked him more than just a friend. since the day they met, robyn has always had a little crush on ollie, but she never realised how serious it was until they reached high school. she would get flustered whenever he'd compliment her, she'd get a little jealous whenever she'd see someone else flirting with him, and her heart would race whenever he was in close proximity. she never admitted her feelings for him when they were still in high school because she didn't know how ollie would react. she didn't want to lose the one person that she cared for the most.

robyn wishes she never asked ollie if he wanted to go to their senior prom together. as friends. she remembers casually asking him when they were hanging out in his room. she was lying down on his floor when she randomly asked him if he wanted to go with her, before panicking and quickly adding 'as friends' to the end of her sentence. she often wonders what would've happened if she had just admitting her feelings for him at that very moment. maybe it could've saved them from an extra couple of years of pining.

robyn always feels safe to swim whenever ollie is around. since she can't swim, she does have a fear of water and usually sits out during beach and pool parties. however, she's always more comfortable and confident whenever ollie is by her side to make sure she doesn't drown. robyn always feels safe whenever ollie is around because she knows that he wouldn't let anything bad happen to her. she knows this from experience.

something your muse does that makes mine smile

literally anything that ollie does will always make robyn smile. ollie is just so fun to be around that robyn will never have a dull time whenever she's with him. he's always making her laugh, from his jokes to their friendly (and flirty) banter. ollie is the first person robyn will look for whenever she's upset or feeling down since she knows he's the only person that can make her smile in any situation.

something my muse wants to protect yours from

robyn knows how emotional ollie can get sometimes so she always tries her best to protect him from things that might upset him. she's practically been doing this since she was a little kid. she always tries to distract him whenever they come across something that might affect ollie's mood. when ollie got upset that he couldn't see any turtles at the aquarium, robyn basically dragged him around the place until they were able to spot one. she also went home that day and asked her mum if they could buy ollie a plushie of a turtle. she gave the plushie to him when they saw each other at school the next morning.

robyn's clinginess is how she shows her love. she likes being physically affectionate towards ollie, from giving him hugs, peppering him with kisses, to just simply holding him close whenever she can. her protective nature is also another way that shows her love for ollie. robyn always tries to make sure that ollie is happy. if he's happy, then she's happy too.

8 — who gets jealous easier?

although neither get super jealous, it’s robyn who gets jealous a little easier in comparison to ollie. before either admitted their feelings for one another, robyn would lowkey get jealous every time she saw someone flirting with ollie. she used to brush it off and say it was because she was protective of him, her best friend, but we all know it was because she was actually in love with him.

robyn and ollie are both very physically affectionate towards one another. they’re both very clingy and just love to hold and touch each other whenever they can. there’s probably never a moment where these two aren’t clinging on to each other in one way or another.

12 — what kind of nicknames do they call each other?

robyn and ollie love to use pet names with one another. they love to call each other ‘bro’, even when they start dating. robyn also calls ollie ‘my hero’ all the time, especially when he starts to tell the story of how he saved her from drowning when they were kids.

DOMESTIC LIFE

8 — how do they celebrate holidays?

robyn and ollie always spend the holidays together. on christmas day, the first thing that robyn does is bring flowers and gifts to ollie’s mums. they have lunch together as well before they take a walk around the winter festival being held in opal cove. robyn makes it her mission to try and pull ollie under as many mistletoes as she can that day.
