Made a new (probably temporary) space for my Calibarn collection! I'll hopefully be adding the G-Frame figure by the end of the year, but sadly the Chogokin remains out of my budget. Hoping the clear HG ends up on P-Bandai eventually so I don't have to scalp it.

Robot Spirits Buster Gundam Ver. Anime
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally got my favorite Gundam from OG Seed and I’m quite pleased. The suit itself looks great with neat effect parts included. The only nitpicks I have is that the gun supports can make posing difficult sometimes and those cool effect parts might be a bit TOO long so if you want to use them in a display you absolutely need an action base. Regardless, I’m too busy loving how cool this guy looks on my shelf. ☺️

"You made it here, Ξ G"

As a bit of a companion post to the HGUC Messer I finished a few weeks ago (and to show off the cool toy I just got), here's the Robot Spirits Ka Signature RX-105 Xi Gundam! This is my first Ka Signature figure, a sub-line within Bandai's Robot Spirits figure line that are designed by Hajime Katoki (not unlike Ver. Ka for the gunpla kits), and man is it gorgeous. Fully painted*, tampo printed decals, all sorts of extra details like an opening cockpit hatch, and even a bit of die cast metal. I couldn't have asked for a better representation of the Xi Gundam.

And obviously it's huge too, as you can see here next to the Robot Spirits Gundam Mk-II ver. ANIME. Even with that in mind it's actually great at posing and is very sturdy. Tight joints and the included stand help it keep any pose with ease. I only have two minor knocks against the figure, both related to paint application (*or lack of, going back to that asterisk). First is my copy having a few mistakes that are noticeable, dust painted over kinda stuff. The bigger issue is the beam rifle not being painted at all, it's just molded plastic. Just a little bit disappointing considering how much it costs. Beyond that though I'm still very happy with it and I'm glad to have an almost perfect version of one of my favorite suits. I may have to get the Penelope to go along with the Xi here at some point, but for now I'll enjoy this.

I do have a bit of a collection of Gundam figures at this point so I may post more of them if people are into that, but next up I'll have those kits from the backlog done so look forward to that. For now though I hope you enjoy! ✌🏼

Fan Theory: Like Ogres and Onions, the Matoran Universe has Layers
This theory has been rattling around in my head for some time, I might make a Knowledge Tower video about it someday, but I’m not certain if its a good fit, given its more of a theory than anything where I actually do some science in it. Maybe you all can let me know if this is a good video idea in the notes?
Anyway, the crux of this theory is something to try to explain how all of this:
Tumblr media
Actually fits into the body of the GSR.
This is a long post, so I’ll put the rest under the cut.
We already know from Greg quotes that the MU map isn’t really to scale, its more to show the rough position of the islands rather than their actual relative size compared to one another, hence why Odina is so large, and why Voya Nui seems to take up most of the southern continent despite being described as being relatively small in story.
But even using this as a guide for placement only, it still doesn’t really gel with the actual layout of the Great Spirit Robot, with everything in the torso area having to be squished up into the upper torso given the empty space in the abdomen.
Tumblr media
This is further compounded by this image, which places the giant vortex in the endless ocean that leads to the great waterfall in the middle of the chest of the GSR, once again placing both the southern continent and Karda Nui squarely in the upper torso:
Tumblr media
I’ve seen more than a few fan maps of the MU that try to address this problem, but all the ones that I have seen have never quite been satisfying to me, they make the southern continent especially far too small than what the storyline suggests it should be in order to get everything to fit.
But my solution, which I don’t think I’ve seen elsewhere before, came to me when I remembered that Karda Nui was in a dome that was underneath the southern continent - it was on a separate layer. And, well, Karda Nui can be on a separate layer, why not other sections of the MU as well?
That thought let me to making these maps of how I think the MU could possibly be laid out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, from this layered approach, not only can you fit everything in nicely, but you can also keep the continents large without having to compromise to make them fit in. It even allows for additional domes that could house some of the other locations / smaller islands that are mentioned in the story that are not included in the official map. I did also play around with the size of each island compared to the offical map, given Greg already confirmed that the sizes on it were not accurate and so I could maximise the liveable land area of the MU.
I also used the fact that Greg has confirmed that ways to get into Karda Nui are via portals (with the canon one known being near the southern continent and also being where Destral moved itself to during the Karda Nui arc) to get around the issues not only of travel between layers, but also of travel between the head, torso and limbs without having to mess around with relative positions of those places moving when the robot moves its joints. The way I figure it, if the portal took up the entire sea gate tunnel width, then it could be entirely possible that the inhabitants weren’t aware they were going through a portal at all, it could just look like a regular tunnel to them, leading to the MU map from the inhabitants perspective I included here too.
I’ve tried to include as many canon compliant details into these maps as I could (e.g. connections between the torso and arms at multiple points to explain the routes taken by the Federation of Fear, room in Artakha and Xia’s domes for the islands they used to share them with before they were destroyed, the position of the pit being based both on proximity to Daxia but also on the placement of Mahri Nui in the Faber concept art above etc.), but I may have missed some details, so do let me know if you spot any.
I could also potentially use these maps in the future to work out things like total land area of the MU for the Faber and Farshtey sizes given I can determine the area a pixel represents in each, so these could be quite useful to Knowledge Tower videos in the future, but first I’d like to get some peer review on the core ideas from the wider fandom here on Tumblr.
What do you think of the maps and the idea behind them?

Little appreciation post for the many unique and heartfelt friendships we had in DreamWorks movies, including the Nublar Six
Over the years DreamWorks showed us in so many different ways in their movies and shows, how important friendship is. For me the best and most memorable are Hiccup and Toothless and the Nublar Six. Still til this day, Hiccup and Toothless have the best cinematic friendship ever written. Not miles of distance can break the strong bond they share and that’s true friendship at its finest.

I’m in LOVE with this shiny boi! It looks sooo good on the shelf. It’s understandably in the premium price range but worth it to me. Definitely a stand out or a center piece to anyone’s collection. 😍

Optimus Prime/Primus/the Matrix of leadership but they're in a toxic religious/codependent/abusive relationship
The Matrix loves Primus (is part of it) and hates Optimus. Which is a problem since the matrix is supposed to be the means of communication and mediation between Primus and the Prime. It hates him because of his doubts, his morals, his weaknesses. It DOES NOT WANT HIM.
Primus loves both the Matrix and Optimus but his insistence into keeping the Matrix and Optimus together harms both. He doesn't mediate between them, doesn't do anything to help the Matrix see the reasons he chose Optimus for nor he soothes Optimus' pain.
Optimus is an atheist who is coming to terms with the fact that Primus exists, but he still can't see him as "god" and is constantly suffering because of the Matrix that turns his doubts into physical pain AND it shows him the pain his kind is experiencing making his guilt grow exponentially.
Is the situation solvable? Maybe.
Is any of them willing to make the process easier? No.
Does the situation get more complicated when Rodimus appears and the Matrix "falls in love" with him? Oooooooh absolutely.
Does Optimus suffer? Yes~ Sweetly~
Also I want to add. There's nothing wrong with Optimus and his morals for the matrix to hate him. He is "worthy" in the beginning the matrix itself liked him... HOWEVER- things went bad and now the matrix doesn't like him on a personal level.
