Uncanny X-Men #9 Review
Graymalkin was raided and now the Uncanny team try to get back to normal, or at least what they were doing before Becca and Jubilee got snatched. It looks like Graymalkin is NOT done with them, however.

Larry Trask - not learning his lesson
The issue cold opens with Larry Trask on the sales floor with a former client. The 'Wolfpack' model sentinels are built from stray and unwanted dogs somehow - they're fully robotic with full (if glitchy) AI so I'm not sure if anything biological is left. It doesn't really matter, I suppose. He gives the man a demonstration on a volunteer and they tear the guy to pieces. Switching them off didn't work, they can just switch themselves back on. This isn't going to end well, but 'your eminence' wants four dozen units ASAP.

The Uncanny adults are sitting around a fire, clearly back at Haven. Can't say that seems like a responsible choice for so many reasons, not least because two of them were kidnapped nearby very recently. Logan brings up that the kids have secrets and that he doesn't trust them. Ransom overhears this but not the next part - that 'they don't trust themselves.' They're traumatized children, what do you want from them?
Rogue comes up with a mentor system for reasons, assigning Jubilee to Deathdream and Logan to Ransom. I think they should ask the kids what they want. The Uncanny team have done a pretty terrible job at mentoring, teaching, duty of care, etc, so far and they don't seem to be reflecting on that. They're going entirely off Logan's sense of smell. This doesn't especially feel like the issue after an event in terms of how the characters behave. Calico and Jubilee were jailed, they witnessed horrors and came under psychic attack. They witnessed their leader fight a friend over some really strong feelings. The reader gets a peek at Graymalkin, but these X-Men look suicidally passive.

We check in with the Outliers with a voiceover from Rogue, and most of the points she's raising seem like they could be solved with a conversation. Keeping them safe strikes me as priority number one, but it doesn't come up. 'We got to be the school' Rogue decides, which makes sense considering the only other school is too dangerous.
Logan, no shit, tells Rogue she makes a fine leader. Does she? Comes across as an informed attribute to me, or maybe Logan is joking. He says that 'Chuck and Scott would be proud' which is particularly jarring. Not because of greater history but the previous issues in this run. Rogue lampshades it, but without any follow up it feels like the book is just telling me to think less. Jubilee and Deathdream make friends, which is nice? In the abstract it is but we haven't learnt much about where either is at or what they want.

Jitter comes across Calico secretly practicing ballet and offers to be the partner she's never had. It's a sweet moment between just the two of them and we learn more about their dynamic. It seems like they don't actually know each other that well but they're learning more. Calico continues to be the most interesting Outlier, if for no other reason than we've learnt the most about her. She had an abusive upbringing and is slowly figuring out an identity away from family.
Jitter we know less about, but I think we're being shown she's into girls. Maybe. It would be easier to get a handle on that if we knew more about her I think.

Meanwhile, Ransom is outta here, and it seems Logan is trying to offer mentorship. He comes around pretty quickly with Logan telling him he is wanted here. I'd guess he can believe their home is a prison now seeing as he was there with you. Ransom's cousin is Roberto Da Costa AKA Sunspot - New Mutant, hero, and billionaire. That is unexpected and I'm not sure what to do with it tbh. I feel like The Outliers would be safer with him but who knows what's going on there?

Not sure who originated this idea (I assume Rogue) but the kids are going on a shopping trip with Logan and Jubilee. The Graymalkin scientists deploying the Wolfpack show why that might be a bad idea. Did they forget that Calico and Jubilee got kidnapped while out and about? It feels like they did and as such it feels like we've done this already. Very recently. Maybe it'll turn out better.

The two adults decide NOT to watch them and they immediately get attacked by The Wolfpack. Only Calico is holding her own and Deathdream is a liability here, as his powers do nothing to robots.

Even Warden Ellis thinks this is a bad idea, and Trask doesn't have a good explanation. This dynamic might mean something to you if you're reading Sentinels, but the outline is enough here I guess. Ellis can't control her subordinates who are siccing killer robots on children. Not that different to kidnapping, beating and imprisoning them but I guess you have to draw the line somewhere. Looks like we're not done with Ellis at all.

All but Deathdream managed to escape at least and seem to be working together pretty well. Ransom headbutting a metal dog seems like it would hurt him a lot and do little damage, but he seems fine. They even rescue some civilians. The fill-in artist is particularly noticeable with the close-up of Jitter's face here, and as much as I enjoy the regular artist the action looks decent.

We're left on a cliffhanger of the other Outliers rushing to see if Deathdream is okay, and he looks very dead, alas. His powers are vaguely defined, but I don't think this death is going to stick. Either way it's traumatizing as hell for the kids, hopefully a black eye for Graymalkin, but most of all it paints the X-Men as seriously unfit caretakers of Children. I suspect Deathdream will be fine and Logan/Jubilee will be the cavalry next issue, but it's really not a good look. If it was the first time there'd be some leeway but it's not - they really should have learnt from the kidnappings 3 issues ago. Maybe Rogue shouldn't polish that 'fine leader' trophy just yet.
This issue was entertaining enough if I don't think about it too hard. The characters themselves aren't seriously engaging with their mistakes or recent happenings and it really hurts the book's identity. I don't know what Uncanny X-Men is trying to do or say and here at issue #9 I don't think it does either. The beats are there - some conflict, some resolution, some action - but the connective tissue between issues is not. I think this is the book if you want some X-Men hits remixed but nothing more. That's okay, but it's bound to disappoint long-term invested readers. I think it's a shame that unambitious, but there's other books for that.
If you weren't sold before this, issue #9 won't change your mind. If you were enjoying it that'll probably continue.

No because listen. This is what the characters of X-Men '97 would look like as an orchestra.
Charles Xavier/Professor X would be the conductor. No explanations necessary.
Scott Summers/Cyclops would be the concertmaster. He was in charge when the conductor (Charles) was away. He's always stressing, but for good reason.
Logan Howlett/Wolverine would be that one violinist who isn't the concertmaster but would kill to be. Always criticising the actual concertmaster (Scott) and endlessly jealous of him. Nevertheless, he does play a major role and serves his purpose loyally, perhaps even fiercely.
Jean Grey would be the right hand/top/treble line of the piano, and Madelyne Pryor would be the left hand/bottom/bass line of the piano. I mean, come on guys, they're such piano people. It just makes sense.
Ororo Munroe/Storm is a cellist. She has the classic elegance. She has the spotlight once in a while. She's great, but not in the mainstream way.
Nathan Summers/Cable is the harpsichord dude. Kind of weird, but in a cool way (in the harpsichord kind of way?) Classic, has been around for a while, and is related to the pianists (Madelyne specifically).
Jubilation Lee is the flute girl who has a vibe of her own and is known by everyone.
Roberto Da Costa/Sunspot is the clarinet guy who is like super shy for no reason but is friends with the principal flautist (Jubilee). Literally look at him. He looks like a clarinetist.
Morph is the second violinist who be super chill but also be making dumb jokes all rehearsal long and is fantastic friends with that one wannabe concertmaster violinist (Logan) and completely supports him. But also they're just fine with whatever they have, as long as they're having fun, which pretty much seems all the time.
Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler is the viola man everybody loves because he's just so nice and funny and friendly. He's warm and he works well with others.
Of course Trish Tilby or Valerie Cooper is the lady who like is the business manager or some crap of the orchestra and you know talks to other people and yaps about stuff at the beginning of every concert and starts talking about sponsors and stuff. Literally why not
By the way this is a kind of habit I have, to watch movies/shows and then turn them characters into musicians. Sorry for the yapping haha. I know it's weird but it is what it is. Debate with me, I'd love to hear your opinions. Also help me out here, I can't figure out what to do for Rogue, Gambit, Beast or Magneto
Edit: Thanks to @that-cinnamon-kid, Magneto is now a flute player.

I want to request then a roberto da costa x reader fluff
reader having a crush on roberto but not knowing really what to do/How to tell him, she follows jubilees advice and tries to show him by little actions: whenever he mentioned something he saw or wanted, besides him being with very money, she would get it for him
it would continue until he notices or reader admits it and they happy
I hope I phrased in a way you can understand
A/N: Roberto is still a teen in X-Men '97 so this fic is strictly cute fluff and reader is about the same age as him in this fic! Tags: obviously sfw, fluff, coming of age, first crush Prompt: Reader has been crushing on Roberto for some time. One day, at the local arcade, she finally confesses to him. Pairing: Roberto da Costa x F!Reader
"I Just Really Like You."
The shrill beeps and flashing lights of the arcade were practically a second language to you. You weaved between cabinets, a determined glint in your eye as you scanned for your next opponent. A familiar laugh drew your attention to the Street Fighter machine where Sunspot, all sunshine and charisma, was effortlessly defeating a challenger.
With a grin, you nudged him on the shoulder. "Hey, Roberto, ready to lose?"
He glanced over, a playful glint in his dark eyes. "Is that a challenge, (Y/N)? You know I go easy on newbies."
The playful banter was a familiar routine. You and Sunspot had met a few weeks ago at the X-Mansion's rec room, a shared love of classic arcade games sparking an instant friendship. Today, you were on a mission to prove you were no newbie.
The next hour flew by in a flurry of button mashing and playful trash talk. Roberto's laughter filled the air as you emerged victorious in a particularly close match of Dance Dance Revolution.
"Alright, alright," he conceded, wiping a playful bead of sweat from his brow. "You win this round, (Y/N). But next time..."
He trailed off, his gaze lingering on you a beat too long. The air crackled with a sudden undercurrent you hadn't noticed before. Self-consciousness bloomed in your chest.
"Maybe next time," you mumbled, suddenly finding your shoes very interesting.
Sunspot's fingers brushed against yours as he reached for his jacket. "Hey," he said softly, his voice warm. "About next time..."
You dared to meet his gaze. His smile was different now, softer, tinged with something more. Before you could overthink it, the words tumbled out.
"The truth is," you blurted, cheeks burning, "I, uh, I like you, Sunspot. Not just as a friend."
A slow smile spread across Sunspot's face, lighting up his eyes like miniature suns. "Yeah?" he asked, his voice a husky rumble. "Me too, (Y/N)."
The world around you faded away, leaving only the two of you in that neon-lit haven. It seemed victory wasn't the only prize you'd be taking home today.
A/N: Oh my god, I rewrote this whole fic cause I didn't like it initially lol.

X-Men ‘97 Episode 1 Synopsis: We’re so Fukken’ Back

Welcome to the Synopsis land, where fan theories become canon, and canon becomes a mere fan theory. Also, there are a lot of bad jokes. (I promise I’ll add alt text soon)

This song is always incredible. It’s so much better than it has any right to be. The default font here is Trebuchet, as it reminds me of old-school internet forums.

Spelling fucking as “fukken’” has a long history in the synopsis format.

Every extra in this show is named Terry, as per synopsis tradition

Meet Storm aka Ororo Munroe. Her font is “Thunder” in the same red as the Kenyan flag.

Meet Bishop, our time traveling friend from the mid-21st century. He’s a fan of late-2010s internet culture, as it was the last good times before the horrors of Future Past hit. Font is Futura because he’s from the Future

Bishop leans on the fourth wall a few times because this is pop-culture to him

Roberto da Costa: rich kid, questioning his sexuality, secretly a nerd who plays Magic the Gathering. His font is the same as 90s MTG card titles (Goudy Mediaeval), and as green as the Brazillian flag.

Meet Cyclops aka Scott Summers. Camp counselor of the X-Men, shoved into being camp director. A basic bitch, he loves Elton John

Cyclops using his blasts to propel himself is so fukken’ tite

I’m not wasting an opportunity to make a UUUU joke when I can

Rogue and Gambit: southerners after my own heart. Both are trans. They have found…creative ways to have sex while avoiding each other’s powers. Blues and Rock music enjoyers. Their font is “Magnolia Script” because Mississippi is the Magnolia state and it looks like the Zapp’s chips logo

Meet Morph. Very nonbinary. Hopelessly romantic for Wolverine. an East Coast Hip-Hop aficionado. While other characters use color as a constant, morph uses font (Comic Neue Angular) as a constant and varies their color depending on presentation.

Jean Grey is the X-Men’s resident chaos gremlin. She stops arguments by pitching more ridiculous ideas. Spice Girls fanatic.

For the wip ask game, I'd love to hear about:
- the day dani moonstar died
- blackhill hanahaki au
the day dani moonstar died… hahaha that one is fun.
here’s a snippet, because it’s a bit hard for me to describe:
The day Danielle Moonstar died was deceptive, in that it was just like any other.
The sun shone upon the ground, thawing the frozen earth. Spring would soon be upon them. The sky was a soft blue, cloudless and gentle. Animals were beginning to wake up, slinking out of their hiding places with sniffles and snuffles, furred, feathered, both and neither soaking in the sunlight.
These were all things that the New Mutants, Dani’s friends, family in all but name, noticed, when Rahne Sinclair’s anguished scream pierced the air.
The lycanthrope known also as Wolfsbane tore out of her bed, waking all her fellow New Mutants in the process. She shifted, distressed, from human to wolf to in between like the shape-shifter she was, whining, howling, barking and yowling all in equal measure.
Illyana Rasputin was the first to follow behind, her mutant “stepping disks” able to teleport her exactly where Rahne’s wolf-form stopped, as an all-too-human scream left her animal mouth.
Magik was a strong woman, forced to grow up too fast, and forced to endure too much, but even she fell to her knees at the sight before her.
Behind her, Roberto Da Costa and Sam Guthrie — Sunspot and Cannonball, respectively — were standing in frozen horror at the sight of the body dangling from the tree branch.
For the Blackhill Hanahaki AU… that one is an olddddd WIP. I had planned for a five act/chapter fic where the reader watches as Maria slowly suffers from Hanahaki, but refuses to tell anyone or admit her feelings because she doesn’t think Nat feels the same.
Then, she’d die, and we (the readers) would find out that Nat was actually also in love with her. And now she’s left all alone to mourn.
So, yeah, angst all around! tysm for the ask!

hi lydia-marc, i had an xmen question. are roberto da costa and jubilee a thing in the comics? i am going to be honest, i thought both of them were queer
No they are not a thing in the comics. In fact they have barely interacted more than just being acquainted friends to my knowledge lol.
They are also unfortunately not canon queer (yet?) but my god it's dying to happen...

Trivia:
Dubbing premiered in São Paulo on June 29th, 1960
On the 1989 VHS release, the opening titles are in English. The title "A Bela Adormecida" is presented as a subtitle. As a result, the Brazilian voice actors and technical crew are not credited on this release.
This dubbing was used in Portugal until 2008 when a European Portuguese dub was created. As a result, the Brazilian dub was included on the 2003 DVD release.
Release dates : Brazil - June 29, 1960 (São Paulo) Brazil - July 9, 1960 (Pernambuco) Brazil - December 22, 1960 (Rio de Janeiro) Brazil - May 26, 1961 (Minas Gerais) Brazil - May 27, 1961 (Rio Grande do Sul) Brazil - June 22, 1961 (Rio Grande do Norte) Brazil - July 8, 1961 (Espírito Santo) Brazil - December 25, 1961 (Amazonas) Brazil - January 18, 1962 (Paraná) Brazil - December 30, 1962 (Santa Catarina)
All Brazilian credits (VHS, DVD, BLU-RAY and TV's) countain many mistakes :
Maria Norma Moraes Illner, the singing voice of Aurora is credited under the name of Norma Maria.
Joyce de Oliveira's and Nancy Wanderley's roles as Flora and Merryweather are switched.
Maurício Sherman is wrongly credited as Prince Phillip's speaking voice. In the 50s & 60s, he was pairing with Hamilton Ferreira on a humor show, and they got chosen as King Stefan and King Hubert in 1959, and later as Jasper and Horace in One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961). He confirmed before his death in 2019 that he was King Stefan.
Selma Lopes is wrongly credited as the Queen. She confirmed later she didn't dub that role; her first Disney role was the Blue Fairy and Pinocchio's singing voice in Pinocchio in 1966.
Many great Radio and TV Stars of the time auditionned for the role of Princess Aurora : Nega Aparecida, Dulce Martins, Daisy Lucidi ...
It was Maria Alice Barreto's first dubbing performance for Disney. She was the secretary of Fernando Lobo, friend of Aloysio de Oliveira, who was conducting the Musical direction and translation. She was invited to audition, and came early : she watched the other actresses trying out for the role, memorizing the lines, and when her turn came, she already knew it well, and got the role eventually.
A mixing mistake was made in "Once Upon A Dream" in the 1989 VHS : the vocalizations of Aurora (PART 1 : between the speaking lines "Your Highness" and "I'm not supposed to speak to strangers" / PART 2 : when she's dancing with the owl between the two parts of the song) were actually of Mary Costa's for PART 1 and Maria Milde's, the German voice, for PART 2. In the 1996 VHS, this mistake was partially fixed : Maria Norma's vocalizations was restored for PART 2; but PART 1 are this time those of Maria Milde's. Reasons for this are still unknown, though it's possible Maria Norma Moraes might have not dubbed originally the 1st vocalizations.

X-Men ’97, Ep. 1x01 – To Me, My X-Men (Spoilers)
I started writing my thoughts on the original series, but I quickly gave that up when I realized that I clearly had some slightly rose-tinted glasses for that show. It’s a good show, but I remember it being better than it was. Also, I only watched the first 3 and a half seasons when I was younger. Doing a rewatch now, I can see that it clearly dropped off in writing around the fourth season.
But this sequel series? My God is it fantastic. And what I love about it is that, instead of keeping it at the same age level as the original series (aimed for older kids/younger teens), the show is more for teens and adults. The writing on the show is quite a bit more complex and, at times, the show is pretty brutal to watch as they do not hold back during certain events. Also, this isn’t a show that is to be watched once and be done with. Like rewatching this first episode…well, I’ll get to this in a minute.
The first episode is pretty much reintroducing the show. And it’s kind of set up like the first episode of the original series. We are told that a year has passed since the events of the series finale. We find out that the Friends of Humanity are kidnapping Mutants and, in this case, it’s a young mutant named Roberto da Costa. And Roberto is rescued by the X-Men.
The first thing I noted in this show is that…the Friends of Humanity were in the original series and they were portrayed as a hate group in the original series, but they never really came across as something too threatening. Like, in most cases, they were people almost cosplaying a hate group. But here, they actually felt dangerous.
The second thing that I noted is how the animation has upped it’s game. We would see the X-Men use their powers in the original series, but nothing like this. In the original, it was more they happened to use their powers while fighting, where here they are fighting with their powers. Specifically, that moment with Cyclops.
The rest of the episode plays out pretty much as expected. For those who might not be as familiar with all the X-Men, we are given several scenes that highlight the current roster and their powers. For those who know the X-Men or watched the original, we are given an update on what’s happened since the original finale. The two main takeaways are that, because the world believes Xavier was assassinated, there’s been kind of a…let’s say people have been a little more tolerant towards mutants (more on this in a second). The other issue is that Jean and Scott are expecting a baby and are considering leaving the X-Men.
Anyway, Roberto is brought back to the mansion for Roberto’s protection and because Cyclops wants to know if Roberto heard the Friends explain how they got their hands on Sentinel tech. Roberto manages to run away from the mansion. Most of the team goes to track him down, while Cyclops and Storm go to speak to Henry Gyrich to see if they can locate where the Sentinel tech is coming from/see if he’s heard anything from the Sentinel creator Bolivar Trask. Gyrich is currently in jail for the assassination of Xavier. And I love this whole conversation here, specifically how Gyrich points out that people currently have good will towards Mutants because it’s “fashionable.” And, let’s face it, he has a point. Because that’s the reality of the human race, at least in part. There are people who are generally trying to do better, but there are also people who take on causes because it’s what everyone else is doing or it makes them look good. Just because people seem to be warming up towards Mutants, doesn’t mean they actually are.
At this point, as it’s clear Gyrich won’t give them information, Jean Grey (who is using Cerebro back at the Mansion) penetrates Gyrich’s mind. And this next scene, this is what I mean that this is not a show to watch only once. Jean is suddenly brought into a psychic hellscape that, at the time, clearly foreshadows that something horrible is about to happen. But what it is, or if the X-Men will stop it from happening if they find Trask, is unknown to the audience at that time. Well, sort of. See, the answer is actually in the scene; specifically the line spoken by Cable and the slowed down music in the background, show that Jean (and the audience) is being warned of the events that will happen in episode five. But, like Jean, we won’t understand until it’s too late.
But to wrap this up. The X-Men find out where Trask is and, after dropping Roberto and Jubilee back at the mansion, they go and defeat Trask. And we finally get to see why Storm is considered an Omega Mutant (arguably the best moment in the episode).
Meanwhile, Jubilee discovers that Roberto has been hiding his Mutant powers from his parents. Clearly, Roberto is taking Jubilee’s place as the gateway character for audience. The character that’s new to the whole experience so that the writers can explain everything to new audience members. But what the writers do well here is that, while Roberto’s storyline goes on throughout the season, it’s kind of a C plot. It’s still important, but it’s not going to be brought up in every episode.
And, at the end of the episode, Jean and Cyclops get ready to tell the team that they are going to leave. That plan lasts all about two seconds, as Magento shows up with Xavier’s Last Will and Testament and declares himself the new leader of the X-Men.

Ororo, how did you get here?
I wonder if we'll get a solid, in character explanation for why Storm would become a cop (Avenger) again. I'm writing an analysis on From The Ashes (so far) and while I'm clear-eyed about where most characters and books are at, I really need to know if they're even going to bother explaining why Storm would leave Arakko (oh yeah, there's still a million mutants on the red planet) and if they do to what degree. Sure she can just bail off screen but it'd be deeply out of character. She's a member of the Great Ring (or at least she was, occupying Magneto's empty Seat of Loss after she yielded the Regency to Lodus Logos.) She's the most impactful political and cultural figure in a generation. She was the leader of the winning faction in the Genesis War. She had a lover, who was caring for two orphans. I think they were living together. She was happy. I can't recall any ties to Atlanta, but it doesn't really matter. Without serious explanation she's going to look fickle, like she's shirking her duty. A duty she chose, too. Fought multiple wars over. She's getting a solo book, there's totally room to do it properly.
The other big ting for me is Magneto. The First Krakoan age put him through the ringer - his character arc was objectively given the most attention and subjectively the most satisfying. Even without Uncanny X-Men #700 he was poised to shake up the status quo but when you include his chat with Charles that's a promise. A promise that needs to be paid off. Not just any old promise either - it's an ideological breakthrough five decades in the making! He's been kept in the background so far and I haven't really been able to judge whether that promise is being kept or not. I hope so but my expectations are low. It would be such tonal whiplash I can't even think of an analogy.
Interestingly both Max and Ororo were Of Arakko last time we got a close look. Magneto died defending Arakko, he has friends there. He is literally one of the society's heroes for slaying Tarn the Uncaring and The Hour Of Magneto/Judgement Day.

Yeah, that's right. *AIR HORN* *PUMPS FIST* He cares about the Arakki and they care about him. He'd want to pay his respects to the Fisher King and generally see how it's going. He lost his place on the Great Ring when he died and Vulcan blew up his house, but neither are especially important. Both planet and culture are dear to him. After X of Swords, in that brief period when the Arakki were on Earth, it was Magneto meeting with Isca about teething problems. 'Twas Magneto who spearheaded the Terraforming Operation, handling the communication/logistics and harvesting enough iron to bring the planet to life from the Khyber Belt. While he was doing that, Ororo was fighting Nameless to the death for the Noontide Seat.
I could honestly go on, but my point is these two especially are invested. (Roberto Da Costa too, but it seems the New Mutants are represented by Magik alone and Cypher looking like an idiot.) If that continuity is disregarded I'm going to have a problem with it. Honestly, if Arakko is there and not being used in any stories I'll be scratching my head. How do you go from terraforming planets to hated and feared on Earth as anything other than a regression? The geopolitical implications of it being there pretty much break the world they're selling us. They're telling us it's so dangerous for mutants that they're developing secret hand signals and Underground Railroad'ing. At least some mutants would move to fucking Mars. All countries would be at Defcon 1. Did the entire galactic council just forget Sol exists?
I'll stop there, save some for the actual essay instead of the rant lol. If you're enjoying it I couldn't be happier for you. I am struggling to, though, and I'm very wary of heartbreak. Maybe that's on me for how I manage my expectations. We shall see.

Favorite Fandom & Favorite Character From That Fandom (You Can List More Than One)
Oooo, this is super tough! My favorite fandom changes quite a lot, which is why I’m having trouble answering this!
Right now: It’s absolutely the X-Men fandom. I love all the drama and the characters, they’re absolutely stunning. I mostly enjoy the comics, but the movies are fun too.
Previous: For about a month or two it was the LOTR fandom! That was a great time. The MCU fandom will also always be in my heart, I will never leave it. Same with the LOTR fandom.
So, yeah, the X-Men fandom is my favorite right now. The question is, who’s my favorite character? This is actually a really tough question because yet again, I am indecisive and love all of my babies equally.
Usually it rotates between Roberto Da Costa (Sunspot), Sam Guthrie (Cannonball), Doug Ramsey (Cypher), Kitty Pryde (Shadowkat right now), Tabitha Smith (Boom Boom), and Alison Blaire (Dazzler)! Right now I’m in my weekly Sam Guthrie sadness phase but that only lasts for a day. I’m a very indecisive person, all of these characters just kind of float around in my head and I sometimes obsess over them and other times they’re just there!
Sorry for the long post, I love when you send me questions like this! Thank you, friend!!

ocs and lore inspired by mr. and mrs. smith :)
hailey and hayden storm -- aka irbis!
ooc. im clutching my nine other oc blogs behind me but hey I like creating characters + hailey and hayden MIGHT just be my most interesting ones lore wise...

icons used: sunspot (roberto da costa) & white queen (emma frost)
a married couple from a very small royal tribe of snow leopards living in the depths of the mountains in russia. started out by disguising their leopard forms, meeting as a princess and her knight (or bodyguard, girl idk??). they fell in love and developed a relationship which soon became a marriage.
anyway hailey unfortunately dies and hayden's devastated. due to his unsettling depression that channeled into rage and sadness, it caught the attention of the league of assassins as they saw potential. (ra's would bring hailey back from the dead if he agreed). under the LoA, the couple became highly trained assassins and are associates of red hood and his outlaws team.
they're linked by the soul, hence being able to shapeshift into the other person, split into two bodies and morph into their leopard forms. (usually they're in two different bodies when working together in the league.)
to differentiate who’s talking, hayden will be in white, while hailey will be in blue!!

how easy is it for your muse to say ‘ i love you’?, does your muse like it when people do work for them?, does your muse like it when someone spends a lot of money on them?, what is your muse’s ideal date night?, does your muse find themselves subconsciously seeking out physical contact? ( ie. reaching for s/o’s hand without realizing it )
Billy says "I love you" as easily as breathing. Not just with his husband -- with whom he has a hundred little phrases that all translate to "I love you", but also with his friends and family. Perhaps it's just a simple reaffirmation, a reminder to them and to himself that the bond struck is not easily broken. But also it's a question, and a promise. "I love you" means "I'll see you again". Never goodbye.
Billy doesn't like to feel like a burden to people, so if he can do something on his own, he won't ask someone else to do it for him. He also is not the best at asking for help, so even if it's something he's struggling with, he might just push himself too hard until the help is needed. He's an idiot like that.
Billy hates when people spend money on him (well, unless it's Kate and she's buying drinks at the club) and was mortified when Roberto presented them with that damn beautiful apartment. They could never afford a place like that, Avengers payroll or no, and he's still working on how to get Da Costa back for that one.
An ideal date is literally no date at all. Stay at home, watch a movie, snuggle on whatever soft surface in underpants and just. Be. Exist in a space without pretense, without obligations or expectations. To him there's nothing better than just being free to be.
Billy is a huggy bastard and we all know it. If you're in his club, you're getting hugged, whether you like it or not. Get in here. It's hug town. He sometimes doesn't even realize how touchy-feely he can be, but others do; his hand moves to Teddy's almost like gravitation, his shoulder leans against Tommy's, he rests his head on Kate's shoulder when they're looking at her phone. Physical connection is something that is everything -- and an afterthought all at once.
