Film screening: The First Movie (2009) Film-maker Mark Cousins, who was brought up in a Northern Irish war zone, travels to Goptapa, a Kurdish-Iraqi village of just 700 people on a tributary of the Tigris river, and tries to make a dream film about a place that is normally only portrayed in current affairs programmes. Percussion workshop with Kurdish santur and daf player Peyman Heydarian | The workshop will consist of two 45 minute sessions of instruction on the daf drum with a break of 30 mins. At the end Peyman will give a short performance on the santur and then invite those who have taken part in the workshop to accompany him. Daf drums for use during the workshop will be provided.

Natural History Films: Saving the Persian Leopard and The Birds of Qaradagh | Kurdish biologist Hana Raza was worried the Persian leopard hadn't survived years of war in northern Iraq. But her fears were put to rest when the animal was spotted in the mountains in 2011.
