Settling it for all. Does kh2 really have the chokehold on the fandom that everyone says it does, or is that just that we kh2 fanboys are annoying as fuck.

Choose your favorite kh game. This is not necessarily the one you've played the most - for example bbs was the first one I did the platinum trophy for so ATM it has the most hours played, but its not my favorite. Play time doesn't equal favorite, the one you like the best is the favorite. choose that.

Not to be xehaqus posting on main but the amount of (misplaced) trust Eraqus puts in Xehanort makes me insane. What do you mean he watched his boyfriend murder someone before his eyes and cried alone in his room at night but still thought it alright to let that boy walk away from him and study ancient dark magics? To confront him about it, years later, only to have his face sliced open and still, still, even later welcome him back into his home like nothing's changed? To take a wounded, obviously traumatized kid off his hands and not even consider it might be a red flag? Even when your students approach you and go "hey your old beloved old man partner might be up to something?" the blinding confidence to go "No, that doesn't sound like him :/ " To, even after you are both dead, at vaguely eachother's hand, to reach out beyond death and still believe there's good in him?

Like, one can joke a lot about how Eraqus' bad taste in men is what doomed the narrative to its current path, but also, this is a character who watched someone he loved make bad choice after bad choice after bad choice and always thought he was going to suddenly start making good ones instead. And he did this for sixty years. What if I threw up.

I think it really is a testament to how good the storytelling in Kingdom Hearts is that it can make expected moments still feel significant and emotional. Like, even if I ignore the fact that I got spoiled on a lot of story-beats before I ever played the games: We knew that Xion would disappear at the end of Days. We knew that the Wayfinder trio would fall to darkness at the end of BBS. We knew that most of Xehanort's classmates would die, that Roxas would come back, that Sora would save Aqua etc and yet when it happens it's executed so well that it still feels as important as it should be. We know that Scala and the people living in it will probably be fucked at the end of Missing Link and we know that Sora will probably escape from Quadratum in KH4, but you bet I'll cry when it happens nonetheless

Well I think like many people it will be KH2. If I hadn't discovered the other games in 2022, I would have put KH3 direct first because I loved the game when it was released.

This piece is from last year. What once began as a messy sketch soon became something much more.

Edit: I should clarify, this is Blue timeline Eraqus (nicknamed Knight)— a version of him who becomes a better person way before time traveling. He travels to the Red timeline, where his Red timeline self (Lost) is the one who tries to kill Ven and Terra. Knight would have never tried to hurt his family when he got older, but he’s still VERY saddened to see the damage his other self did.

Sad little time travel AU Eraqus feeling the impacts of all the awful things his other self does in another timeline. It’s hard to see people you love flinch when you so much as move too quickly, but the things his other self did to Ven and Terra were so horrifying, can you blame them for being on edge?

Eraqus is easily one of my favorites in the whole series but I’m no apologist, that guy was a BASTARD. Though I enjoy exploring alternate realities where he wasn’t that way, I do wholeheartedly acknowledge that canon Eraqus is an awful, awful old man lol.
