My poor Kaela is undermined and, probably, the last preferred amongst the ROs, but they have traits that go along incredibly well with the Monarch, making for a delicious dynamic.

So I been having brainrot of The Scars I Live With (@thescarsilivewith-if), so here is my MC and some moments with the ROs. In order Naja, Kaela and Valaahr.

The outfit for this mc was such a pain even with the references but nothing compares to what the jewerly put me through it almost made me quit the drawing all together, but in the end I'm happy with this, I adore how it came out. I genuinely can't wait for the demo of this game to drop cause its so interesting! the plot the worldbuilding, I'm in love.

Might as well throw myself further into The Scars I Live With @thescarsilivewith-if​ and toss my MC Information into a single, contained post.

Here is my main simp Monarch, Zaire. (picrew)

General information:

He is 1.68m/5′5ft tall on more on the slender side after his captivity. He used to have more muscle mass but that mostly disappeared due to neglect and malnutrition. Struggles with large portions these days so he’s found it difficult to gain weight and muscle mass again.

Aged 28 at the beginning of the game/after his captivity, he used to be a genuinely good and kind person who was more on the shy and cautious side. He used to have grand ambitions of peace and tranquility for the nation he ruled over and in that way, he was naive and didn’t see any betrayal coming at all.

Treated Naja with much care upon their engagement and eventual marriage and tried to accomodate their needs to the best of his abilities, squeezing in lessons so he could at least do some basic communication via sign language.

Initially, upon being rescued by Naja, he is all but mute and extremely cautious, often wondering if his rescue is a dream. Very jumpy and needs coaxing to let people into his defenses (though Naja has a much easier time than anyone else.) As he gets more and more settled into his role once more, he grows less cautious and silent and far more blunt. Listening to honeyed words and trying to accomodate everyone and their nonsensical wishes didn’t work last time and the nobels would often argue their case to a point where Zaire promised to consider it just to get some peace. These days, they will get shut down by a blunt ‘No.’

Despite the hurt inflicted upon him in the last four years, Zaire hasn’t lost his compassion, however, especially in regards to the harem and his spouses. He will always find time to listen to his siblings and his mother’s consorts, trying to make them feel secure and comfortable in the home which has always been shared between them. Sahyra especially will be able to knock on Zaire’s door at all hours of the day as they’ve both shared the burdens and pressures of the crown.

As for the ROs... Poly route go. Zaire was perfectly happy to just have Naja as his spouse (his dumb heart did funny flip flops when they arrived for the wedding and he cherished every moment between them) but then Valaahr shows up, assured and confident and smooth. Their words make Zaire relax, get rid of the lingering trembling and aches and ghosts living in his heart that not even Naja’s sweet touches could banish fully. Val’s simple faith is a soothing balm upon his hurting soul. Though his favorite activity is probably watching Naja and Valaahr grow closer. They’re playing chess? Zaire is going to watch from a distance as to not disturb them. Reading books together? Don’t mind Zaire, he’ll make sure a servant will drop by with some tea. He catches wind of his spouses looking for a particular item? It’s going to be on their desks asap. His cute spouses are relaxing together in the gardens, holding hands? Zaire is gonna lean against the doorframe with the most smitten look upon his face and let that image give him the strength to carry on with his duties.

And when Kaela joins the harem and he gets to witness the love grow between all of his spouses? Even better. He now has three people to make soulful eyes at and spoil the hell out of. That’s an absolute win.

(He is going to flounder so hard when they notice his presence and draw him into their circle because he feels like he is intruding. You don’t enter a museum and just touch the artwork, right? Genuinely struggles with the concept of being loved after all the betrayal he’s lived through and half expects his spouses to leave him at the drop of a hat. Wouldn’t even blame them if they did. Kind of views himself as an outsider to his own marriages early on, which causes some friction, I imagine, as he tries to drown his spouses in adoration and spoiling them with gifts while also keeping them at arm’s length.

Once he’s comfortable to share his spouses’ beds, he finds it easier when someone tells him what to do, sexually and sensually, whether that is by taking someone or being taken aka he prefers to sub but it’s not a must. If he’s not looking for sex at the time, kissing the thoughts out of his head followed by a long cuddle session will also make him a happy camper.)

this might be an unpopular opinion but repeatedly putting someone on slop intentionally is kinda fucked up. it was fucked up when it happened to brittnee and kaela and it’s fucked up watching it happen to ro. he literally looks awful from not eating real food for 3 weeks.

Classical romance progression: kiss, sex, marriage.

Naja romance progression: marriage, cuddle, sex, dating.

Valaahr romance progression: marriage, sex, sex, cuddles, kiss.

Thinking about a Monarch who loves Kaela's hands so much that they'd kiss their fingers every now and then or maybe just ask Kaela to stroke their hair.

Who has a bit of a hands fixation? Kaela. So having both partners obsessed with it is such a treat.

Kaela would let MC hold and kiss their hands the whole day. And they would rest the monarch's head on their lap and stroke their hair peacefully for hours.

Hey author i just wanted to say that I really love this story, and I can't wait to just hold Naja really close, I really think she's cute.

So i wanted to ask, how would the RO's react to a monarch that follows them like a puppy, that wants to stay close to them at all times.

Naja is, indeed, adorable.

Naja: Naja does exactly the same, so the Monarch and them are always seen together, since both are basically following each other, being as close as they can.

Valaahr: Val doesn't have a problem with this, unless the Monarch is tacticle - because Valaahr doesn't enjoy casual touches unless in an intimate setting/situation. Still, having the Monarch close helps them feeling less paranoid about MC beng hurt.

Kaela: they are extremely confused by this, at first. Because Kaela has spent a lot of time being either ignored or uncomfortably observed, they don't know how to make of their spouse being so close. Then, they start to get accustomed to it. And then they come to feel soft about it.

ROs favorite non-sexual acts of intimacy?

Naja: holding/wearing something belonging to their lover

Valaahr: post-sex cuddles (or, if outside of the bedroom, calling their lover a pet name/special name)

Kaela: holding hands. Playing with hands (yes, Kaela has a thing for hands)

Kaela never thought they would marry. Not because of lack of interest by their part, though.

At first they were concerned that their appearance would scare off any potential suitor. Then they did the first handful of experiences and came to understand how deeply uncomfortable they left them. They became progressively more pragmatic, and progressively more comfortable with their loneliness.

Now, about to be wed to the most powerful Monarch of the continent, Kaela can hardly understand how they feel about it.

Fluff asks. Let's see, there's this headcanon that Mc learned to sew some basics in their slave career (bc they had to not bc they really wanted to). And when back they sew, stuff and embroider a pillow for each RO, bc it's something easy, but still very personal. Also it's therapy to work through their issues with using their past for good, though they don't tell that part, if they are even aware of it. (it's a small embroidered pillow, so maybe not ideal for sleeping at night, though possible) Where do the ROs put it, how often do they pick it up? Any special feelings about it?

Naja: they are so fond of it they rarely part from their pillow when they are in their rooms. They sleep hugging it, they keep it on their lap when they write or they're seated, they keep it close especially when they feel lonely. The pillow sort of becomes their pacifier when they feel overwhelmed.

Valaahr: contrary to Naja, Valaahr rarely uses their pillow. Instead, they take great care in keeping it away from anything that might taint, rip or alter it. They don't use it because they don't want it to become worn out. They often look at it, though, with a special softness in their gaze. The pillow is the material representation of the Monarch's healing and fondness for them, so they keep it as something precious.

Kaela: Kaela can be very very attached to some objects, to a very profound level. The pillow would, in time, become one of those objects, one of the things Kaela keeps close, but often uses only when strictly necessary, because they don't want to risk ruining this thing the Monarch made specifically for them. They wouldn't sleep with it, but they'd sometimes hug it to their chest, when they need guidance and peace of mind.

Would the consorts naturally have their own personal guards to watch over them, and how would they react if MC just arranged for the fanciest of knights to be shown off and the consorts to have their pick? (Cough Naja deserves to be protecc by an MC guard dog when they’re not there)

Consorts are... valuable in Sakhaav and, especially in the case of affectionate Monarchs, treasured. So yes, they have indeed their own private guard, selected to be incredibly discreet and loyal (because the Harem is quite isolated from the rest of the Palace, and because the Consorts raise the future Monarchs).

I imagine something like this could happen, with MC wanting for their Consorts to choose themselves their own preferred guard. I think all of them would be careful in their picking, (though, they'd also very much trust MC to select the most capable guards for them).

K = Kiss(Are they a good kisser? Do they like to kiss? How often do they try to kiss you?) for all the ROs

Naja: they tend to give gentle, soft kisses that are a tender way to espress often their thankfulness to the Monarchs when words fail them. Since those kisses hold such a meaning, they happen during moments when Naja really feels the need to espress something through a kiss. Not too often, but often enough.

Valaahr: Val is intimate and tender only when alone, and they would be uncomfortable with kissing (as with any other PDA) in public. Their kisses are heated, deep and they rob you of your breath and coherence. They are basically only delievered when Val is intimate with the Monarch. Otherwise, when you are very close to Val, they might give the Monarch a kiss on the cheek, which is something so special and tender for them to give.

Kaela: Kaela doesn't mind PDA - in the right context - and they are the ROs who will kiss MC most often, if they are close and comfortable enough with them. Kaela's kisses are cold, but meticulous, adoring and natural. They will kiss all the Monarch if they are allowed to, to prove how comfortable their lover makes them feel. They are thankful, soothing kisses.

Can I request V from the ask game please for Naja, Kaela and Valaahr?

V = Vulnerable(How long until they can be vulnerable around their s/o? What are they like in this state?)

Naja: Naja has a detachment between trust and vulnerability, in the way that they will be completely vulnerable even when they don't trust someone not to hurt them. Naja simply has been told that they need to surrender to the will of those who are around them, so that's what they end up doing. There will come a point, though, when they will show vulnerability and they won't feel dread. When Naja will laid themselves bare and feel relaxed and safe. Secure knowing they will only be protected and never hurt.

Valaahr: Valaahr only allows themselves to lower a bit their defenses when they are physically intimate with someone. It is the only moment where they are not completely on guard, but even then some part of Val is ready to raise their walls up again, because in a way they know the world is only waiting to swallow them whole and Val is not ready to surrender yet. I think with the Monarch, though, during intimate moments (even just emotionally intimate moments) they could become fully vulnerable like never before.

Kaela: they can't. They know the moment they will be caught on their weak side they are going to be hurt. Kaela struggles a lot with this, often feeling very scared snd even paralised of the consequences should thry fully lower their guard. But eventually they will, just for the Monarch. And MC will see Kaels completely relaxed and at ease, lifted of that weight that they always carry. Maybe, it will be ok to share that burden with someone else.

i don't know if this has been asked, but how will the ROs react to an MC who had a nightmare and when they woke up, they didn't see RO/s beside them and then they started panicking?

Naja: realises the situation quickly and, trying not to panic themselves, is fast to be at the Monarch's side to help them manage their panic. They might use their voice, they might not. But they assure in any way they can that they will never leave MC's side. Never, ever.

Valaahr: curses themselves for not checking sooner, for not anticipating what would have happened, and swiftly goes by the Monarch's side. Hesitant at first whether to touch them or not (Val is not touchy in any way, however they feel the need to ground themselves and MC in this case), but quick to soothe with definitive words. It was just a nightmare. I am here.

Kaela: they are dejected by this reaction, not knowing exactly how to calm the Monarch down save for steady reassurances. They slip in bed under the furs and, in the hopes of helping soothe MC, they reach out to them and pull them in a protective hug.

There are so many good questions out there but i'll let the other do their part lol 😈

I chose this one because trust is super important to my MC, and to me ngl. And when I see the trauma and hardships the ROs went/still are going through, I guess it could be hard for them to trust other people ? My MC would try to do everything in their power to make them all feel safe, comfortable and able to trust them. But they would understand if despite everything, that wasn't the case since trust can be really hard to give

Naja: Naja doesn't trust MC at first. They might seem very obedient, but their compliance is simply mechanical. Once their bond with their loved one becomes stronger, though, Naja trusts them more than anyone and aything in the world. They could ask Naja to do anything, and they would, without question asked.

Valaahr: their trust is gained in time through actions that will prove them their partner is worthy of it. It is quite the feat to reach that stage with Val, though you will be rewarded by an unusually vulnerable state they only allow very few to see them in. Once their trust is broken, though, Val will never give it back.

Kaela: they are the ROs who has most issues with trust, maybe because they have the most to lose when they do let their partner in. They have a history of mistakes on their part, with people who hurt and made them very uncomfortable, so they will need a lot of time. Especially when it comes to trusting that their partner will take care of them tenderly, without using Kaela for their own satisfaction or gain.
