Kailh Deep Sea Ocean Box Silent Switches
I absolutely love these silent switches by Kailh. They are truly silent and feel so good with xda keycaps.

got a new budget keyboard and some cute lil keycaps for myself because I had a razer keyboard and i just could NOT stand the tactile switches anymore!!! I type fucking FAST so it got so annoying for me; but I have some nice linear switches, and some nice keycaps and hopefully can get some stuff to mod the board relatively soon!!! It's such a mental lift to not have to stress about my keys annoying me.

hi friends 💖
just checking in! i know i've been a little inactive lately, besides my queue and me occasionally reblogging old sets that have hit milestones, i haven't really been here. don't worry, i'm not leaving or taking a hiatus... there will be a TL;DR at the end bc i know not everyone cares about these posts, which is totally okay!
there is a reason for my inactiveness, i've been a little distracted lately but mostly distracted this week. i had planned to make more gifsets, but my laptop keeps disconnecting from the internet randomly (a fairly new issue) and the internal fan keeps turning on (an ongoing issue); it's on rn and the only thing i have open is chrome to make this post, which is making my laptop overheat; making it run a lot slower.
since this has been happening, i asked my parents if i could possibly replace my laptop with a desktop computer. i am an apple kid (there is no right between macs or pcs; it's all personal opinion!), so i do want to get an imac. i've actually wanted an imac for a while now, but i didn't get one when my parents offered to buy me my laptop back in 2016, when i was let go from my previous job, that treated me terribly. the stipulation for my parents actually buying my laptop was it HAD to be a laptop. their thinking was that i would need a laptop if i got another graphic design job... which i never did. if i had gotten a desktop back then, i would've had to pay for it, which i didn't have the money for. so i took the generosity of my parents and i got my current laptop, which i do love and will forever be grateful for. but my laptop is approaching 8 years old, which is pretty old for a macbook pro. it is still up to date with the latest software, but it just runs so slow due to age. another reason i want an imac, i can't keep sitting in my bed on a laptop, i need to sit at a desk. my chronic back pain has been getting worse and i know it's partly due to how i sit in my bed all the time on my laptop.
but a lot of things need to happen before i can even get the new computer, i need to get a new desk that will accommodate the new computer, i need a new chair; the one i currently have has zero back support which i need, and i really want a nice customized mechanical keyboard. so i've been busy this week looking at keyboards, desks, and computer chairs. my parents agreed to pay for half of the imac as a hanukkah gift! so i have time to get everything together. and of course not all of these are things that i need to have to get the new computer, but they are things i want.
i've wanted a nice mechanical keyboard for a while and i do love my current mechanical keyboard, RK84. i use it for work and everyone loves the RGB effects on it! but i want one that i have completely customized. the board, switches, and keycaps. ironically, the keyboard i've been looking at is the same keyboard that felix customized and showed off recently, the GMMK Pro, which for some reason is really hated OR really loved in the mechanical keyboard community... but i really just want the board part. i want a heavy metal keyboard, but i don't know what switches i want yet or what keycaps i want. it's funny though bc the current switches i'm used to are glorious switches, they're the purple kailh pros. i love them, but i don't know if they're what want i want for my at-home typing and gifmaking. i'm using them right now to type this post. they are really good for quick typing but still have a little bump to let you know that you've hit the key hard enough. so they're great for work where i type emails daily.
the keycaps i'm also interested in, akko black translucent w/ green print, may need to have a special switch so that the RGB on the keyboard shines through better. i brought my RK84 home to actually change the keycaps so i can test out the ASA profile of the keys for a while before i actually decide on the keycaps. but the only type available is linear switches, which in the past, were too sensitive for me. i would always knock into incorrect keys when typing and make a lot of mistakes. but i'm really used to typing on a mechanical keyboard now (so used to it that i hate flat mac keyboards now lol), so the linear switches may not be an issue now.
anyway, i know that was a lot and again, it's okay if you didn't read any of it and just scrolled down here to see the cliff notes version:
TL;DR: i know i've been a little inactive lately, but i've been distracted with trying to update my desk setup. and my laptop keeps disconnecting from the internet making it harder for me to actually upload gifsets. but i'm going to try to at least make gifs this weekend. i may or may not be able to actually have them drafted.
i hope you're all doing well. if no one's told you recently, i'm proud of you and you're doing great! 💖 please stay safe out there and stay hydrated my friends! 💖

another new toy
I've been planning to get a number of accessories for my new computer. A new monitor, microphone, maybe one of those vr headsets. But after having it for a few weeks, one thing jumped out as needing an upgrade more urgently than anything else - the stock full size keyboard that came with it was just too large and awkward for my little keyboard shelf. I was tempted to go back to the Microsoft Compact Bluetooth keyboard that I was using with the Steam Deck... but I haven't had a "real" computer, like a proper desktop computer in decades, I wanted a "real" keyboard to go with it. Like a proper mechanical keyboard with switches and buttons and such. And so I typed "mechanical keyboard reviews" into a youtube search, blissfully unaware of the rabbit hole I was about to fall down.
If you know then you already know, but it came as a surprise to me that membrane keyboards are so cheap and so easy to mass produce that they've taken over the casual market altogether, forcing mechanical keyboards into the domain of the ⋆ ˚。⋆˚enthusiast⋆ ˚。⋆˚
Yes, it seems proper keyboards are a hobby now, not a very cheap one either, and the very last thing I need is another expensive hobby. But every hobby has its more affordable and approachable on ramps, and there are a number of pre-built budget boards occupying this space in world of mechanical keyboards. After watching a few dozen hours of youtube videos and reading a bunch of reviews and tutorials, I eventually settled on the RK84 'limited edition' from Royal Kludge for us$80. Which is like twice what I expected to pay when I in my naive innocence began shopping for keyboards, but I've come to understand that eighty bucks absolutely counts as "budget" in this hobby.
Pricing aside, I really do love my new keyboard. The 75% form factor is ideal, better centering the typing keys and saving a bunch of extra space on my little shelf while maintaining all the functionality of a full size board save only for the number pad. While I do like to use a number pad, I don't mind taking one out when I need it, and the keyboard even has a couple usb ports to easily plug a mouse and separate number pad into, which is super convenient and such an obvious idea that I really have to wonder why all keyboards aren't doubling as USB multi-dongles at this point, with additional usb ports, sd card ports, and so on.
For $10 more than the regular RK84 wireless, the 'limited edition' version has better keycaps, factory-lubed switches, some filler foam in the housing to reduce the hollow sound, an additional layer of sound dampening foam sandwiched between the top plate and the pcb, and a snazzy color scheme, the version I chose combining a black body and mostly black keys with a white top plate that better reflects the swirly rainbow rgb backlighting. The sound is decent, at least to my untrained ear, right out of the box. Which is ideal, as I'd like to avoid the temptation to start modding it.
Because I've gone about as far down this particular rabbit hole as I want to go.
Though I suppose it is tempting to open it up, as some basic tape & band aid mods would be cheap and easy and might improve the sound a bit...
And as much as the pre-lubed yellow linear switches are nice, I did make sure to get a hot-swappable board so it's easy to change them out later if I want to try alternatives, and I do think I might prefer tactile switches for typing...
And the rgb lighting is nice enough that it really is a shame these caps aren't shine though. Yeah, yeah, shine-through is tacky, but Cringe is Dead, and some black top pudding caps might really make the lighting pop. Or maybe a mix of black, white and some accent color to match the color layout that the board came with?
The abyss, it tempts me so...

i only got a little guy (75%) (RK84) and i don't regret this cuz i. well hypothetically i have the desk space for a big guy but ideally only half the desk is The Computer Zone. i got a longer desk so i can have The Computer Half and The Journaling Half.
but i know that some people get extra keys that don't do anything just for the stimming and the more i type on this guy the more i want that. i do want a number pad actually but i don't want it to do anything except make the autism go brrrrr
problem of being at isaac's house and using his computer and thus his mechanical keyboard is now i am looking up mechanical keyboards i can use with my laptop
#yelling at clouds#this is easily solved with a stim toy. kit literally has this stim toy.#but.... stim toy built into keyboard......

Finally got myself some cute keebs.
My very first mechanical keyboard, Royal Kludge RK84. I've been relenting on getting one since last year but only managed to get one recently since I am now trying to play games on my laptop (I am usually playing on consoles or with controllers). After watching reviews on youtube, I've decided to go with RK84 since I needed the F keys for my skills and because RK is pretty much cheaper and is easily customizable. I love how compact the keyboard is and how the red switches sound. The only downside is the poor RGB but it looks nice when it's dark (obviously) so I don't really mind.
If you wanna see how it looks here's a video:

One of my close friends moved out for the first time on Friday, so spent most of yesterday at IKEA and his place helping him move.. Ikea is so fun lmaooo
Glad I made it out in time. Sydney coronavirus cases keeps escalating :|
Once again I am stuck in Melbourne due to coronavirus (but i love it here) - it just sucks that I will still be paying rent for a room I'm not using again...
In other news I installed a new 1TB SSD in the spare slot of my new laptop last night.
About 15mins later get weird crackling in my audio and USB peripherals (m&k) stuttering??
Happened a couple times under load right after - but after a couple restarts and diagnostics it has been fine since *fingers crossed*. Also going from high performance to balanced performance in battery settings was another change which may be helping??
If the issue comes back will have to try changing it back and seeing if it triggers it/re-seat the SSD, remove it and test etc. BIG CEEBS
I found a couple people on reddit who had the same issue with my model of laptop - but it doesn't seem that common. Will have to wait and see how it goes.
Also ordered a MX Master 3 mouse and a RK84 keyboard which should arrive soon.. Okay now I need to stop spending for real.

Royal Kludge RK84 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard 2022 REVIEW
Royal Kludge RK84 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard #REVIEW An affordable, fun option for any workstation. @RKludge #productreview #keyboard #workstation #productivity
buy from amazon The RK84 keyboard is an affordable, fun option for any workstation. Not too long ago, I reviewed the Redragon Draconic Pro K530 60% Wireless RGB Mechanical Keyboard. I really enjoyed using that keyboard, but since I’m not a gamer and use my keyboards for standard productivity, I found that my use was hindered somewhat by the lack of separate directional arrow keys as well as the…
