i don’t see you talking about how lucas and dustin’s parents are neglectful. that’s literally the way every adult in the show behaves except how joyce behaves towards will, and only will. and i don’t see you having trouble altering or talking your way around the bad decisions made by writers to support your own ships and the characters you like, so don’t act like canon is some holy grail when we all know the writers destroyed characterization for the sake of comedy this whole season.

The Black hood is trying to convince his wife(Alice) and daughter(Betty) that he killed a bunch of people for a good reason and that the people he killed were all sinners and deserved to die. He mainly used ethos because he said he was trying to fulfill the promise he made to his mom and he also says he picked up his father’s sword and continued what his father started. Him saying that he picked up his father’s sword, made it sound like it was his responsibility to continue killing sinners. I think he did not persuade Alice and Betty because he ended up getting arrested for his crimes. I don’t think that he would have been able to convince anyone even though he improved his confession because killing people was a bigger sin than what the people he killed did so the law would not accept that and would've still arrested him.
