For reasons I do not feel like saying, this thought appeared in my mind and has not gone away.
Rita is a bottom. She tries to top but fails. Every time. It's literally the only thing she fails at and it pisses her off every time.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk. Bye.

i do think the intricate braided hairstyles of the mako mermaids are cute. it marks them from their land girl counterparts, visually signifying their difference. i especially like that rita sometimes wears her hair like a mermaid, decorating with shells and the like, and sometimes wears her hair in more simple styles like a land girl; it really shows that she is striking an equilibrium between land and sea, balancing the two worlds also she's bisexual so there's that

Fanfiction Prompt: 001
Tumblr media
Not enough Rita Stories!
A disability support worker, Malinda, helping her client access her education.
Her client, Andy, is enrolling into a new school whose principal is a kind, and warm woman. Her name is Rita.
Andy's mother, the Malinda and Andy all met together in the principals' office. Malinda sat quiet and encouraged Andy to speak and set this up to the best of her abilities.
Rita noticed and smiled in appreciation. With the meeting over. Malinda thanked Rita for allowing Andy to work some things out on her own. Rita replied, "My pleasure, I look forward to working with you in Andy's support." Her eyes warmed to Malinda.
Rita asks what Malinda needs, what Andy needs, and anything else that can help.
The days run as a new normal. Classes attended, assignments and homework getting completed at home. Everything running smoothly. Until Andy starts to find a boy interesting. Andy and this boy become closer, and Malinda finds herself being invited to tea in Rita's office.
"He is my son, and I'm not unhappy that Him and Andy are getting closer, but I feel we need to watch out for them." They chat about the situation and have a plan to chat to the kids.
Rita and Malinda start to grow closer, dinner invites, movie nights, errands ran, hanging out and doing their hobbies together, dates (Both are a little unsure if they are actual dates.) Relationship becomes outlined and they grow even happier.
Andy also now is with Rita's son and they are happy.

I want a Rita in my life
Just a small post about random things in make mermaids (rita)
- she’s acc their mother, esp in the first season. That episode when she holds nixies hand. The ep where she asks then what they’re doing that day and where their going, happy that they’re ‘not doing anything that’s going to get them into trouble’ and oh my giving them money/telling the girls to get a job 🥺
- Rita must be a pro at cutting and dying her own hair bc clearly she couldn’t go to the hair dressers
- Rita literally began caring about them so quickly, going from being cold and distant to loving and motherly

what i didn’t remember while watching Fast X
between me and my friend, we were able to figure out who everyone was (and all their various relationships to each other) except:
- who was Little Nobody? could not place him at all but apparently he joined in F8? i’ve only seen that one once so I guess I gotta rewatch it now
- who was the guy running the race in Rio? apparently he’s Diogo and was in Fast Five, and I do not remember him, so I guess I have to rewatch 5 again (which I’ve seen many times, but seriously, who is he?)
- why was Shaw so mad at Han? Shaw “killed” Han for killing hospitalizing Big Bro Shaw in 6, but then Shaw made peace with Dom and the others, so wouldn’t Shaw not be pissed at Han anymore? even when Han was like, I’m not here to fight you, Shaw kept going at him, but why?

on the one hand i do appreciate that we know so little about rita's late fiancé harry, that her story arc is centered around her own relationship with the land and sea, especially since so many shows aimed at young girls give primacy to boys and men. on the other hand it leaves a gap in the narrative when all we know about him is that he knew about rita's mermaid status, died before the events of season one, and was part of the reason rita decided to live on land full time. i want to know more about mr. rita mako mermaids!!!

Those in italics have five or more pieces of usable visual, written, or audio propaganda already. If you have any visuals like photos or videos, or if you have something to say in words, submit it to this blog before round one begins on June 25th!
If you don't see a name you submitted here, it's because most or all of their career was as a child/they were too young for the cutoff, their career was almost entirely after 1979, or music was something they only dabbled in and are hardly known for. There are quite a few ladies on the list whose primary career wasn't "recording artist" or "live musician," but released several albums or were in musical theater, so they've been accepted.
