Here's a memory of the lovely Raj Kapoor, that Mom recounts with great fervor & whenever in great mood!

(& that I recollect vaguely too) 😊

Of an unforgettable afternoon from 36 yrs back. (When he must've been 60+ yrs old)

So Mom went visiting a bff near RK Studios..with lil Mr.Walking Tomato me (all milky & red..then), in tow.

Relevant info (perhaps), that I now think & reason on.

While returning she had to walk a small lane leading to the main road, for transport. Just as she was approx 15 m away from the main road, a big car came & stopped at the junction, on a red signal (& it's a long signal till today).

Mundane stuff.

Just a few moments later, the back window of this car rolled down, & Mr. Raj Kapoor, put his head out, & waved to me with his hand! 😮

My Mom obviously recognized him, as he called out to her to bring me to him in his inimitable loving voice, "munna munna..idhar!".

But my mom got so star-struck in the moment, she literally froze!

He gestured to me & my Mom a few times with his hand, as if asking her to come forward. And just then, several cars from behind on this arterial road started honking loudly, & the driver was forced to leave.

But I still vividly recall those images, of this silvery-white haired elderly gentleman, waving me goodbye, as if in blessing, as he kept looking back from his car window, till past us.

Wish I could narrate this incident, when Rishi ji was around on Sm. But just couldn't get myself to. Dunno why.

But the blessing stays. 😊💗
