Absolutely going crazy about how Agatha All Along is about relationships with mothers (and honestly family, but I like it being mothers, can you tell I have mommy issues?).

With the Salem Seven, are the children of the ones that trialled and wanted to execute Agatha. Having grown resentful and vengeful of what Agatha did to their mothers, they have come after her, in her weakest she has been. Perhaps just like how their mothers and Evanora did to her daughter during her trial.

With Lorna Wu doing everything she can to protect Alice with this generational curse between women--daughters of her clan. Going on tours and tours to get her song-her spell to be heard because just as long as it is remembered, Alice will be protected. Which succeeded, and Alice died with her own terms in protecting her Coven.

With Agatha first and foremost being hated and seen as evil by her mother, and then being seen/rumored as this wicked witch (get it cause she's dressed up as the wicked witch of the east in ep 7 ha) who gave up her son for the book of the dammed, when in reality that can't be the case with all of the hints we've seen with her and Nicholas. And then seeing this boy-- this Teen who just broke into her house, broke her out of the Scarlet Witch spell, got to know him more and see him as a child to be protected once more, unlike perhaps do what she couldn't do with her own son. That she will to this kid who may have been the son of the woman who trapped her for 3 years, and basically "deceived" her all throughout the journey, but is nonetheless proud. Proud in seeing him take the opportunity to survive and grow up when he was supposed to die, as Billy Maximoff and even as William Kaplan

With Rio, who loves and is just as much of a mother to Nicholas, but is obligated to her job that she cannot abandon, making her do something that she doesn't want to someone she loves (both to Nicky and Agatha).

And to Billy, as a Maximoff and as a Kaplan. With Wanda, creating him and Tommy out of nothing but her powers and a desire for love and family, to her having to take everything she wants down and to her going through the multiverse to find her children only to find out that the twins of that universe already have a mother that is loving and isn't blindsided by the grief and the control of the darkhold that won't accept albit scared with what has she became . Too blinded by the grief and corruption, she didn't notice that her love presevered and saved the body this dying child. And with Rebecca Kaplan, despite basically grieving the death of her son because he can't see her boy in him anymore because of the amnesia (or literally with William dying and Billy taking over), she hasn't given up on this child. Having kept him safe in whichever way she can and in the process making Billy see her as her mother, giving the Kaplans more time with him rather than dying in William's bar mitzvah.

And lastly, with Lilia (I'll always love you), having the power and knowledge, she has basically been the mother of the coven. Always trying to save the people from the demise she has no control of seeing and failing to do, such as the curse of seeing divination just like in her first coven. She has accepted her fate of being a witch by having her final act saving her current coven, sacrificing herself, and loving to do so in the process. Such as a mother ready to sacrifice herself for those they love.

I have so much more yapping especially with Lilia and ep 7 (and Jen but we don't have her backstory yet so) but its honest to God 1:33 am in my place and i need to sleep 😴😴

Prompt~

Death was always going to be a hard life to live. Some hated death for taking them, often blaming her for what was simply the natural order. Some welcomed death with open arms for all the wrong reasons. Either way her job felt wrong. Like she could do no good no matter how much she tried. Something Rio made peace with centuries ago when her beloved Nicky had to pass over, Agatha reminding her what a cruel force of nature she is. Taking souls after his, left a numbness within her. Ikr that never faded. She often saw the grief that trailed behind her and took all the responsibility for it. The hate thrown at her was justified yet she couldn’t help who she was made to be.

With taking souls came the guilt for their suffering and their family’s suffering. But by far the worst souls to reap were infant souls. Perhaps it’s the reminder of that day in the forest where she watched Agatha birth Nicholas, knowing full well that he wouldn’t survive it or perhaps it was that they were so small, innocent, precious and pure that it felt wrong to touch them. Parents weeping for a child that didn’t get a chance at life while Rio cradled them in her arms. A gift of life was not something death could afford.

On this particular day Rio met a small brunette girl, the brightest blue eyes that were shining with tears, her small frame seemed to tremble as she took in the appearance of this new woman. “Mama said not to fear you. I Y/n” she mumbled sadly. Rio always chose her human form for children, wishing to comfort them the best way she could, “you never have to fear me little one, are you ready to go somewhere magical?”

Silence fell over the two for a few minutes as the girl wiped her silent tears and Rio waited with all the patience and care she could muster. “Magical?” Y/n offered suddenly causing Rio to smile at her. “There’s a place I go that nobody knows but me. Where rivers flow freely and rainbows paint the sky. No darkness reigns over this place. Only light love and butterflies. I call this place home sweet girl.”

“Just you go there?” She asked her eyes filled with curiosity at the idea of such a place existing in this strange new world. “Me and and the young ones live there, where they wait for their mommy’s and daddy’s to arrive. There’s a pretty cottage and beautiful green grass that sways in the cool breeze, toys and stuffies there too. Would you like to see my home?”

Normally it wouldn’t take much for the little ones to choose to follow Rio, her comforting presence in such a scary time seemed to be the anchor to their smooth transition. Rio’s home was nothing short of magical, just like she depicted to the child. A home she built in mind when she first knew Nicky would not be allowed to live. A safe haven that they could wait the years out for her to return home.

“Mami? A new friend?” Nicky asked excitedly as soon as he spotted the toddler, his excitement always amazed Rio whenever she brought one home, his kind heart warming her hard day. How could she be all bad when she contributed to his making? “No mama tho?” He sighed noticing the two figures came alone. “She’s just not ready yet Nicky. One day mi niño, one day.” With that Nicky set about introducing the new addition to all his favourite spots of the cottage as Rio retreated back to work. Taking young souls would always be tough a constant reminder that if she wasn’t death that her, Agatha and Nicky could’ve had a life together filled with love and laughter. One where Rio could’ve experienced affection without a fear of hurting someone, a life where grief didn’t follow her path. Perhaps in another universe she did get that. Today like every day before would be a long exhausting day for death.

Nicky was always meant to be stillborn. He was never supposed to live after birth, but Rio gave Agatha more time with him, and in turn he got more time with Agatha.

Whether it was implied or not, he was always the son of Death. He was always supposed to go home to his other mother. When Death finally beckoned him home that night, Rio wouldn’t allow him to join her until he kissed Agatha’s cheek. And he knew, instantaneously, to kiss Agatha not once, but twice.

Once from him, and once from Rio.

Though he was always meant to join Death at her side, Rio gave Agatha the chance to be his mother, too, and now I am a mess about it and will be thinking about this for a long time.

Are we really suprised that Rio crashed out at the end? Not only did Agatha reject her once again and say she never wanted to see her again. Rio was jealous as fuck about her care for Wanda's son when she's a single mom in the afterlife raising Nicky because Agatha's avoiding them both.
