The Titans thought it a bit odd that The Amazing Mumbo, a magical blue villain who had a flair for the showy, would forgo robbing a bank or enacting some fantastic scheme in favor of terrorizing a pharmacy. Upon arriving to the scene and making their way through the playing cards, colorful handkerchiefs, plush rabbits, and other assorted magician memorabilia mess, they’d find out why. The Titans spotted the villainous magician shouting at one of the pharmacists. "I just need some-” the magician was cut off by a large sneeze, causing a string of colorful handkerchiefs to shoot from his nose. “...guh... medicine,” he sniffed.

“Funny as that was... I do not want whatever it is he has,” Beast Boy remarked. @ring-of-azar​

utterly engrossed, half-lidded eyes quickly peruse the page, refusing to lift at the most peculiar of disturbances; beast boy’s off-key singing and idle small talk between cyborg and robin go completely unheard, if not ( irritably ) shunned.

even as envy enters the room and plummets on the couch beside her, she does not budge, acknowledging their presence with but an absentminded pat on the arm…

…well, that was better than nothing, right?

the homunculus remains mostly unfazed. they instead respond by closing some of the distance that separated them, head inclining ever so slightly to catch a glance at their girlfriend’s selection for the day. the book thief. stricken with familiarity, envy racks their brain for its source…hadn’t she read that fairly recently? maybe two weeks ago?

not that they were complaining, of course. the sooner she finished ( or grew bored ) her book, the sooner her undivided attention would be on them.

envy’s posture slackens. a confident grin snags at their lips as she flips to the proceeding page. then, allowing themselves to relax even more deeply, they begin inwardly counting: one mississippi, two mississippi, three mississippi…

…two thousand two hundred and five mississippi. eyes warily flutter open and glaze over to raven, ever enraptured by the book thief. how the homunculus had managed to wait listlessly for half an hour without breaking a sweat was beyond them, but they aren’t willing to do it again sans incentive.

boundaries be damned, they inch noticeably closer to the empath, gingerly slinging an arm around her waist and perching their chin atop a shoulder. to their astonishment, she adjusts her position accordingly, legs draped over their lap and torso kneading into theirs. her head cants a hairsbreadth so that their eyes finally meet.

" may i help you? ” raven inquires, tone reeking of oblivion.

envy, melodramatic as always, can’t help the pout that goads their features. “ i��m bored as hell, ” they whine, bottom lip jutting out more severely. their grip on her waist tightens. “ no offense, but when are you going to pay attention to me? ”

" ...well, you’re already here, so - " a muted, nevertheless loving, smile illumines her own visage. book tumbling to the floor, her hands instead reach upward to cup their face.

envy takes this as their cue to lean forward, planting a soft kiss upon her lips.

          Danny couldn’t help but laugh between shallow breaths, both from her trailing tickling kisses and grazing teeth along the sensitive skin of his neck, and from her just being so . . . adorable.

          “Can’t wait to remind you how much of a dork you’re being tomorrow.” He kissed her hair as she made her way from his neck to his collar bone. He trailed his hands down her sides until they landed on her hips, then he pulled her up closer on his lap. “You think you’re gonna wake up and regret saying things that make you sound like some teenage romcom?” His hands found their way to the back of her neck, just below the bend of her skull. He held her there, silently begging her: please don’t stop.

          “Or are you just so smitten with me that you couldn’t care less?”

Besides he actually admired what she was doing. “Darkness for the betterment of the world, I do approve, even if it drives your father crazy.....don’t worry I’m definitely no ally of Trigons. In fact I find you very interesting for those very frustrations you cause him.....who do you think has kept him from being able to pinpoint you all these years?”

Raven rolled her eyes. “Hardy har…” She complied flatly before returning her gaze to the book in her hands.

   Her bottom lip jutted out, prominent pout shaping her totally -- down to arms crossed tightly across about her. Skies, didn’t anyone in any universe find her funny? “C’mon! It wasn’t that bad! Certainly not-- not-- book-read-y bad. You don’t gotta torture yourself to escape me, like... skies.”

            ❝  raven!  ❞  the  alien  princess  is  bursting  in  excitement  the  second  she  sees  her  best  friend--  one  of  her  best  friends.  and  she’s  zooming  over,  giving  raven  a  bone  crushing  hug,  ❝ i  am  the  MOST  excited  for  the  happy  day  of  the  valentine!  so  excited,  i  have  been  making  my  first  ‘batch’  of  the  little  cakes  in  the  cup.  you  must  be  the  first  to   try,  friend.  ❞  and  for  once,  they  are  NOT  glorrk.  they  are  normal  strawberry  cupcakes  that  star  is  still  in  the  process  of  frosting.  letting  her  friend  go,  she  returns  to  the  kitchen  island  and  excitedly  picks  one  of  the  cupcakes  up  that  have  a  beautiful  swirl  of  pink  frosting,  sprinkled  with  heart  sprinkles  on  top  and  lined  with  a  purple  cupcake  wrapper  designed  with  hearts,  xoxo’s  and  ADORABLE  unicorns  on  it.  extending  it  out,  hoping  and  waiting  in  anticipation  with  a  bright  smile  that  her  friend  will  enjoy.

   Adeline doesn’t even need the Searchers agent to finish the sweep. She knows he’s gone. Again. Looking at the rubble around her she doesn’t even know what to feel. Hurting her family was one thing, but it was like he was spiraling now that he’d lost them. Jumping countries, getting involved with all these organizations, it was frustrating to say the least. Then the whole situation with Terra. He was escalating, faster than she imagined. Does he think he can replace one child with another? This won’t unbury Grant. It won’t impress Joseph. 

   She’s about to turn to leave when someone behind her sends her twirling, gun in hand. It takes a moment to register the cloaked girl in front of her. A Teen Titan? “I’m so sorry.” Lowering the gun, she holstered it back. “You startled me. I’d never expect a Titan this far from Jump City.”

Also I like that there’s this trend within my rp partners who write homunculi that they’re both really tough badasses and then a woman is like *exists* and they can’t do anything else

she slowly undoes one hairband, letting her hair fall away from the pink horn hidden there. if anyone would understand demonic traits it would be Raven, right? “ they are both a help and a hindrance... great for helping me make a good profile but also make it kind of impossible for me to do anything with my hair besides use it to hide these things. people get way more intimidated when they see horns than they do wildly styled hair... “
