RICKY & GINA IN EVERY EPISODE ✿ 1x06: What Team?

No I really wanna talk about Ricky going to hold Gina’s hands while they are watching Emmy sing dreams don’t die. It’s a really layered moment for so many reasons, firstly it’s a call back to 1.06 when the show was in jeopardy the first time and Gina was there to support Ricky as this new found home was now also falling apart, her knowing how hard his home life has become and him opening up about how this is a safe place for him to go everyday after school to escape that drama and she understands that and just keeps him there by supporting him and asking him to play a song for her. It’s comfort, it’s understanding, its support. Then in this episode it is revealed that they are both truly only here because of each other, that if they hadn’t met in that stairwell their lives would not be what they are at this very moment. The two outsiders found this place because of each other and built a family a home and he reaches out to her for support for comfort not only for himself but for her too. It’s this beautiful wonderful moment seeped in so much history. This place is so special for both of them but from it they found each other and it’s the most beautiful sacred thing to them. They felt so lost and so alone but now they have each other truly and fully and that small simple act, that gesture means so much. So yeah I love dreams don’t die hand hold and I’ll never be over these two I swear.

It’s like no other ship can or will compare to rina because no one is writing ships like them anymore. A 3 season long slow burn with small hits and moments and self parallels, tiny details to keep fans on their toes and to piece things together, watching it all unfold and come to fruition right in front of our eyes. Like this is why writers are important. This is why storytelling is important and giving writers and creatives the tools and space to be able to craft these story’s because when they work man do they work.

Hey :) q for season 4: why do you think Ricky seems unhappy about HSM4 but also auditions and stars as an extra?

i've had soooo many thoughts about this so thank you for giving me the space to blather on about this. ricky is in a fascinating place at the beginning of season 4. from the beginning of the show, he's established as someone who shies away from change. by the time season 4 rolls around, he's starting senior year! his final year of high school. i think he's generally struggling with this monumental change, especially given that in s2, it's revealed that, after taking a career aptitude test, he has no "profitable skills." he's also in a relationship with gina and that's new and exciting. tim's interviews highlight that the host of characters will be dealing with the fallout from the documentary release, which has definitely started to impact them already. adding the filming of a movie on top of that and being in the hsm3 musical definitely adds stress and severely limits the time he can spend with gina. i think that's exactly why he auditions. you can see in the widescreen version of the trailer that ricky is stumbling around during the dance part of auditions behind gina for the movie. paired with his lack of enthusiasm at the announcement, it's clear that this movie was not in his plans. however, he loves gina and I'm sure part of his motivation for auditioning comes with being with her. that gina appears to have a larger role in the movie than others will likely be some sort of conflict for the couple and I'm excited to see how they work through it!
