CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW

Anya Romanov is based on Anastasia from Anastasia. She is a 31 year old gifted human, temp worker, and uses she/her pronouns. She has the power of clairvoyance. Anya is portrayed by Riley Keough and she is taken.

CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE

If there was one word that described Anya’s life, it would have been mystery. Her whole life has been a mystery starting with how she oet to the orphanage with no name to where her visions came from. They felt like daydreams that appeared when her eyes wide open. Considering she was already a kid who got into trouble seemingly without having to do a single thing - other than yell at idiotic adults trying to tell her what to do - Anya kept her daydreams to herself, afraid if she said anything about them, they’d tell her she was crazy and send her away. So she kept them a secret. Until they started coming true. At first, it was small things, moments she could write off as déjà vu or coincidence but that only lasted for so long. Other things were more confusing, harder to figure out what they meant because elements seemed to come from decades past and it took awhile for Anya to figure out it wasn’t just the future she could see. And the visions only got worse the older she got.

Finding Evermore was an accident, a stop on her journey to find out who she was, a path that she had seen in her mind but had nothing more to go off of other than a forest in a country she’d never been to before. Funny how the vision didn’t clue her into the fact she could never leave if she crossed over the town line. Unlike others in Evermore, Anya didn’t forget her past, she couldn’t even if she wanted to. Whatever magic was surrounding the town only made her power, or her curse, stronger. She turned to anything she could to drown them out, her search for who she was made even harder trying to hold onto the wisps of who she’d become between shaking fingers. She felt haunted by the ghosts of a past she never knew and futures that constantly shattered and shifted. Evermore was the only place that was ever able to keep hold of Anya, the woman was constantly on the move, never sitting still long enough to grow roots and that extended to every part of her life - including her job and relationships. She did have a talent for music, both singing and piano, and when she bounced between jobs, those were always her favorite. Even so, she’s never felt at home in Evermore but then again, she’s never felt at home anywhere.

❀ Gaetan Mole: Gaetan is a weird guy but Anya likes that about him. He lives to the beat of his own drum and isn’t that what she’s been trying to do this whole time?

❀ Floyd ‘Flotsam’ Samuels: Anya has had a couple of run-ins with Floyd when she’s been late on repaying Carter but they’ve always managed to work things out - thankfully, considering she wouldn’t be much good without her vices

❀ Catherine Shire: A good time and that’s what Anya needs whenever the visions that cloud her eyes get to be too much. Sometimes she needs a night of disappearing into the crowd, surrounded by laughter and questionable decisions

Billie can either be the nicest hometown girl you’ve ever met, or a vindictive, volatile young woman. Has high ambition and confidence in herself - one of those people that believes she can do anything she puts her mind to, and can deliver. She doesn’t take things too seriously, and has a general love for life. But on the wrong side, she can vengeful and as unpredictable as a hurricane.

➤ BACKGROUND

Billie grew up an only child in a supportive household, with a lot of focus on the arts. She had a fairly privileged upbringing, getting any musical instrument she wanted, or taking classes at the local theater - she had her eyes set on the stars. She was popular in school, always one to turn heads and loving when her name found its way into other people’s mouths and conversations, good or bad. But with that, she never took anything too seriously, meaning her life and career. She was always just practicing, or cultivating her image, or her sound, or whatever the excuse was - but everyone has to grow up sometime. So she packed her bags, after the slightest criticism on wasted potential from her parents, and shipped herself off to LA… and when that didn’t seem to work out, The Institute.

Billie is Dylan’s ex-girlfriend.

➤ ANYTHING ELSE?

Their relationship is tumultuous, to say the least. Got together and broke up about a dozen times in their twenties, for various reasons. When they were together, it could be the most wonderful thing in the world, but was always teetering on the edge - the smallest arguments and disagreements would spiral out of control. Sometimes it was Dylan feeling stifled by Billie, or not opening up and trusting her the way he should. Or it was Billie’s jealousy, or getting in her own head that he was an imposition on her hopes and dreams. Either way, it always seemed to end with things getting thrown across the room, screaming, tears, or all of the above. Billie asked Dylan to go to LA with her, and he declined in order to come to The Institute.
