Suzuki 5-door Jimny lands in local shores

Last November and December, there were few photos circulating over social media of car carrier trucks in the country’s expressways transporting the 5-door model of the Suzuki Jimny, which caused speculation as to when Suzuki Philippines will introduce the model in the country.

That speculated ended after Suzuki Philippines formally sent to members of the motoring media an invite to launch the 5-door Jimny on January 25, 2024 at The Cove, Okada Manila.

“The Jimny, deeply rooted in a rich heritage, stands as a testament to Suzuki’s commitment to excellence.  Its popularity is not just a testament to its past glory but a promise of exciting journeys ahead,” he explained.

When it comes to length, the 5-door model is 13 inches or 340 mm longer than the 3-door model.

The upright A-pillars and flat clamshell bonnet improve visibility through the front windshield, while the dipped lines of the driver and passenger windows extend visibility from the side.

- Resin casting. Make or obtain a mold (silicone, plaster, etc) mix and pour. Lots of options for embedding items and color combos, just look at handmade dice. Heavy. Best for small items like jewels.

- Vacuum forming. Make a 3D form. Make a box with the top being pegboard, attach a vacuum hose, heat up some plastic until pliable. boom you can make extremely lightweight and tough copies of things like masks.

- 3D printing. More accessible now but it's been semi-accessible through universities and makerspaces for the better part of a decade.

- Pepakura. Use tough paper or cardboard to make a low-poly version of your prop and then you can use anything from mod podge to resin to fiberglass to make it tougher.

- PVC cuts, melts, bends and forms easily.

I'm planning to jury-rig a vacuum form type thing by making a form, getting a big clear clamshell package for pastries, and using a heat gun to melt it over the form.

I've never understood, at least until 3d printing, how just like regular people manufacture plastic things and it's always really interested me. I've always wanted to get into cosplay, but there's no like cons or events near me so I don't even really know anything about it except what little I've seen on the internet

I mean a quick google search says our dear friend EVA foam and a heat gun has been the go-to for a good while now, either that or you just cut up something you own that is plastic and glue the pieces together, idk I haven't worked with plastic in any capacity myself.
