I’d love to hear your thoughts on why Shane is the best character in TWD 😊
Cause he's my baby and he's hot and I love him and that's good enough of a reason 😂
But if you want something more logical, perhaps for a lot of reasons people tend to overlook… First, something that always bugs me is how little acknowledge there is of him actually stepping into the role of a leader for months before Rick showed up. As far as I know, no one in that group stepped in like he did. For the few interactions we saw, everyone would come to him for answers, and while he wasn’t always very diplomatic, he had good survival instincts and kept the group safe for months. Perhaps staying at the quarry wouldn’t have worked in the long run, but it was a plan nonetheless.
He was right most of the time. He figured out pretty quickly how things were after the infection, and adapted a new mindset. He had to make tough decisions nobody was ready for yet, and maybe he pushed too hard instead of giving people time to get into that same headspace. And we see in later seasons that almost everyone thinks in a similar way Shane did, they just have different approaches.
and it keeps going under the cut...
I recently saw a timeline in a subreddit or somewhere else that said the events from season 1 and 2 happened in the span of 2 or 3 weeks and that's crazy to me. So they were seemingly doing good, and they found Rick, everyone automatically herd to him, and everything until that point didn’t really matter anymore. That really pisses me off that he was just killed a few weeks later because they couldn’t sit down and talk things over. All and that, and despite him being driven for his misplaced love for Lori, he was still loyal to Rick in his own way. Did he question Rick’s leadership? Yes, countless times. Did he also follow his lead every single time? Also yes.
Which leads me to my next point. He also kept Rick safe. In the hospital flashback, he went in and saw what was happening and amidst all the chaos he still tried to get him out. When he couldn't, he did the only thing he could, he locked the door and barricade it. Did he know that would keep him safe? Probably no. He had absolutely no idea, but he was driven by getting them all out, and when he couldn’t get him out, he did the best he could to get Lori and Carl out of town. If he hadn't lied about Rick, Lori wouldn’t have agreed to leave him behind. Again, tough situations led to hard decisions.
And one of the hardest decisions he made was killing Otis to save Carl. He didn’t murder him in cold blood, he was with him until the end, killing him wasn’t something that crossed his mind until the very last second when he had no choice. If he hadn’t, Carl wouldn’t have gotten the care he needed. BUT people tend to paint him as a murderer for shooting him in the leg. It wasn’t right, but it was the only way out at that moment. I recently revisited one of my fics and wrote that Shane sacrificed his soul to saved Carl that day and I still agree with that. I don’t think he purposely hurt someone before unless he was defending himself. And from that moment on, you could see it changed him and didn’t know how to deal with that, which led him to his own demise.
Was he an asshole sometimes? Yes. Did he do or say things in a way I didn’t agree with? Yes. Did I ever want to slap him? Many times. But there was something about him, compared to other antagonists later on the show, that made him more realistic to me. He wasn’t driven by wanting to be right all the time or even being the leader. His misguided love for Carl and Lori, was at its core the things that he cared the most about and that he wanted to protect at all costs. And while I cared for neither, I think it was beautiful of him.
I can never watch his last moments. For me, he got the right idea at the beginning of season 2 when started considering leaving the group on his own. I wish he had done that, even if that meant leaving the show.
I’m probably forgetting something here cause I haven’t rewatched in years, but I think that’s it. Like I’ve said, I didn’t pay much attention to him the first time around, I did agree with him most of the time, it was his manners that left a lot to be desired. It wasn’t until my love for Frank got me to go back and watch some of his previous performances that I got to see Shane in a new light.
In conclusion, he’s still the best character to me, and everyone should love him like I do. Or not. More Shane for me if you don’t.

Hey everyone! Here's chapter 1 of a fanfic I wrote about what would have went down had we gotten a bridge wedding in season 9. It's been wracking my brain forever so I just had to write it. If everyone likes it, I'll post chapter 2!
Rick marveled at the ring in his hand. Not only was the ring itself perfect, but the timing itself was. There was about a week's time before the bridge was completed and Rick was hoping to marry her on that exact day. His dream was about to come true.
He placed a hand on Gabriel's shoulder, giving it squeeze. "Thank you, Gabriel."
Gabriel smiled. "Congratulations, Rick. When are you going to propose?"
"Soon. Tonight. As soon as possible."
"Well, good luck.", Gabriel replied earnestly.
Rick smiled and nodded. "I want us to have the wedding the day the bridge is completed."
"You're gonna plan a wedding in only a week?"
Rick let out a chuckle. "I've been planning this for months."
Gabriel chuckled with him. "Okay, Rick. Good luck."
Rick pocketed the ring as he walked home, plotting the entire way on how he should make his move. He'd been so focused on the wedding itself he didn't even think on how he'd propose. And now he only had a week to do it. Heat took over his body as the jitters started to kick in.
-----------------------------
As Michonne walked into her home the smell of candles, spaghetti, and garlic bread overtook the room. Surprise grew on her face as she looked around the room. "Rick?"
"Hey." He was standing at the kitchen table pouring two glasses of red wine. He had a huge smile on his face and his eyes were as bright as the sun.
She begin to smile as well. "What's all this about?"
"Just supper. Hope you're hungry."
"I am. Where's Judith?"
"Rosita offered her to stay the night. I thought me and you could have some time to ourselves." He pulled out a chair, gesturing for her to take a seat.
She knew he was up to something and she had a good idea of what it was but felt excited to see how this played out. She happily took her seat with Rick taking the chair next to her.
"This looks amazing.", she complimented the food, taking a bite of it. She nodded her head. "It is."
Rick was staring, still smiling at her. "Glad you like it." He grabbed her hand, using his thumb to rub her fingers. "How was your day?"
The two continued to talk as they ate. "Good. The garden is thriving, even more than last month. No one's sick in the infirmary right now. Alexandria's doing good."
Rick nodded his head. "Yeaaah. I knew you'd take good care of this place."
"We are taking care of place.", she firmly corrected him.
"Mmm... It's mostly you. I just wanted to say... you're doing an amazing job. And I really appreciate it. Thank you for everything that you do.", Rick complimented her sincerely. And he truly meant every word. He was so beyond grateful for this woman he felt like he couldn't find the words to express it. There were not words strong enough to show his appreciation for her. But he sure tried.
Every word hit her hard, sending tingles throughout her body. His voice did things to her when he spoke softly with his rough, southern drawl.
She decided to take the compliment. She had been working very hard lately and it was nice to feel appreciated. He always knew how to make her feel seen. "Thank you, Rick.", she responded with a hand squeeze. "What about you? How was your day?"
He still had that smile on his face, while also looking kind of sweaty. "Great. Really great. The bridge should be completed in about a week."
"Rick, that's amazing. We should do something to celebrate! Us, the rest of the communities."
Rick shook his head in agreement. "Yeah, I was thinking the same." That was the end of his sentence but it seemed like there was something else he wanted to say. Instead he said, "you don't like the wine?"
"Oh, sorry. I just... don't like the taste of wine and spaghetti."
"Let me get you some water then." He let go of her hand to get up but she tightened her grip.
"I can get it."
Rick laughed. "Let me.", he softly demanded. Michonne released his hand and he swiftly moved to fetch her a glass. "You want ice?"
"Sure."
She watched lovingly as he opened the freezer and grabbed a few cubes out the tray, dropping them into her water. He could feel her eyes on him. "So, this celebration thing... Kingdom will come, Hilltop will come. We can all bring some food. Maybe Eugene can be a DJ, you know since he's handy with that stuff. I'm sure he has all types of CD's, tapes, and whatnot. " He walked back to the table, setting her glass next to her plate and taking his seat again.
"You've got this all planned out, huh?"
He grinned. "Yeah, I guess."
"So when are we doing all this?"
"The night the bridge is complete."
"Have you talked to everyone else about this yet?"
"Well, a little bit. Not in detail. But I don't see why they wouldn't. This would be good for all of us."
"Well, you should talk to them as soon as possible since it's only a few days away."
"Yeah, I'll do that. But..." His voice became slightly shaky.
"But what?"
"I wanted to go over it with you first." He looked down, seemingly unable to meet her eyes. "Michonne... I've had this on my mind a while now. This bridge is the start of something new. It really feels like everything is finally coming together. All the communities coming together like this... this world was broken. And here you are putting the pieces back together. If anyone could do it, it's you." Suddenly he rose out of his chair and bent down on one knee pulling a ring out of the breast pocket of the plaid shirt he was wearing. "You are the love of my life. I love you so, so much. I'm yours till the day I die. Will you marry me?" Michonne could see his chest puffing up and down.
Her eyes begin to well up with tears. Slowly she joined him on his knees, taking both of his hands in hers. "If you would have told me all that time ago that we ended up here, I would have never believed you. I still can't believe it. I love you so much, Rick. You're my one true love. Of course I'll marry you."
Michonne felt Rick's cold wet tears trickle down his face as she pulled him in for a deep kiss. As they pulled away, the pair begin to laugh.
Quietly Rick stood up, taking Michonne's hand again. "Come on.", he whispered, guiding her upstairs to their bedroom. She continued to giggle.
The couple ravished one another as the night went on, just completely enjoying themselves together without a care in the world. They fought so long, so hard for simple moments like these and now their time had finally came. Nothing was gonna keep this from them ever again. Nothing and no one. To them, this was everything. They had the rest of their lives to spend together and not a single moment would go by unappreciated... least of all this one.
After a very long, very pleasureful night exhaustion started to consume them. As daylight slowly crept up on them, they decided it was time to finally get some rest.
"So. You're taking my last name, right?"
Michonne chuckled. "Yes, baby. I'm taking your last name."
Rick softly smiled, placing a tiny kiss on her shoulder as they laid cuddling in their bed. "Good."

RAMBLE TIME BUCKLE UP
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR TRIALS OF APOLLO AND BASICALLY EVERY PERCY JACKSON BOOK EVER BUT MOSTLY TOA, ESPECIALLY THE BURNING MAZE.
TLDR at the end.
spoilers start now ok bye
Here are some facts that we know for sure:
1. Percy Jackson is named after Perseus, the Greek hero who killed Medusa.
2. Perseus is one of the only, if not THE only Greek hero to not die tragically.
3. Rick Riordan is VERY careful about how he uses names throughout the series, something he addresses from the very beginning when Percy gets to camp. Percy says Zeus’s name (or Kronos’s, can’t remember which and I’m lazy right now) and the sky rumbles, and Chiron warns Percy that names have power and to use them carefully. Later, in Tartarus (if I’m remembering correctly), Percy and Annabeth are wary of using names because of their proximity to monster respawn points.
4. The only other main character named after a Greek hero is Jason Grace.
Here are some things we can assume, based on Rick’s writing style and the details he has given us:
1. A character’s name will tell you something about them. That’s a Riordan near-guarantee.
1a. For example: Piper being a reference to the Pied Piper since she can get anyone to do anything for her, even follow her off a bridge.
1b. Or Magnus and Alex being confirmed from the beginning because Rick mentioned that he stole the name Magnus from Cassandra Clare. (She wrote The Mortal Instruments, which contains a gay couple named Magnus and Alec (Alexander).)
1c. Or Leo being named after the great inventor Leonardo daVinci (not confirmed, but they’re so similar it’s hard to believe otherwise).
1d. A castellan is the governor of a castle who enforces the law around the land. They also have military responsibility. Luke Castellan. nuff said.
2. NAMES HAVE POWER IN THIS UNIVERSE. Sally literally named Percy after a Greek hero to keep his roots close in a subtle way, but she purposefully picked a Greek hero that lives.
2a. HUGE example: Castor and Pollux. In myth, sons of Jupiter. Castor is mortal while Pollux is immortal, and Castor dies. (Slightly irrelevant but Rick loves taking notes from other authors so: In The Hunger Games, part of Katniss’s film team. Castor dies, Pollux lives.) In PJO, sons of Dionysus. Castor dies during Battle of the Labyrinth, while Pollux lives.
The one exception to this rule is Jason Grace. Or so I thought.
If you read the myth pertaining to Jason (Golden Fleece, Argo the First, Medea, etc) you find out that Jason of the Argo dies when he falls asleep on his ship underneath the rotting mast and it falls and kills him. There’s a lot of other stuff that goes down, but for the sake of being succinct, here’s a link to the myth for your perusal:
The only other SUPER MEGA IMPORTANT DETAIL from this myth: Argo Jason, by cheating on Medea, falls out of favor with Hera, while in PJO/HOO, Hera actively names Jason 2.0 and claims him as her champion. (despite him being. Y’know. The proof of her husband being a jackass to her. quality time with the stepmom right there.)
Putting this all together:
1. Sally purposefully named Percy after a Greek hero who lived, indicating fear that he would die if she chose a different name
2. Names have power and Rick puts meaning behind every single name he uses.
3. Jason dies in The Burning Maze.
The real kicker is that they both die in the same way: having lost everything, with so much still to do, dying a completely avoidable death because they weren’t paying attention to what was going on behind them. There’s differences, obviously, because Jason Grace is actually a good person, but those are inconsequential as the big picture is all the same. (We see these similarities happen A LOT with Percy, especially when he kills Medusa.)
We should have known. Rick laid out all the pieces for us from the very beginning, even (possibly) going so far as to straight up tell us that one of the seven would die (again, not confirmed, I saw it in a meme and maybe his twitter? idk im ty ty).
so:
TLDR: Rick Riordan left a gigantic trail of breadcrumbs that should have clued us all in to the fact that Jason was gonna die long before it happened.
And no, I will never shut up about Jason. Justice for my favorite white boy.

Desert Rose
Chapter 17 ~ Guitar Lessons and Confessions
✧ Pairing : Daryl Dixon x Rose
✧ Era : Season 2
✧ Word Count : 4.4k
In this chapter ~ When Rose plans and gathers her things for a search for Sophia, what she doesn't expect was a thick tension between her and Daryl as he only asked for a simple favor. However, it seemed to be shattered just as quickly as it was built up. Though she spent the rest of her day looking for the girl and even offering some guitar lessons to Beth, Glenn finds he has something to admit. Something that had been eating him up inside.
I was rudely awoken the next morning with a throbbing kind of pain coming from my side. Groaning quietly to myself, I saw up slowly with my hand placed over the bandages, and made a mental note to grab some more painkillers from Hershel at some point. I surprised myself, along with everyone else how fast I was recovering, though I think yesterday's incident definitely didn't help the pain.
But I soon found myself changing into a fresh set of clothes, grabbed my weapons, and headed out of the tent. I walked around the camp for only a few minutes before Carol called me over and asked if I would help her hang the clothes up to dry, and as much as I didn't want to, I agreed. I didn't know how to talk to her anymore after Sophia got lost and I didn't want to say anything to upset her. But I also didn't want her to think I was shutting her out, so that's why I agreed to begin with.
"So, how are you doing?" she asked after a few moments of silence, clipping up another shirt on the line.
"I'm okay...how are you doing?" I asked.
She shrugged, "As good as I can be..."
This made me look over at her instantly, "Hey, we're going to find her. I'm going out today and I know Rick and Shane are too. Plus, Daryl found her doll just yesterday, I have hope that she's somewhere safe."
She smiled and nodded, "Thank you, for just... everything. I know how hard you're trying, especially with your injury. Are you sure you're okay to go out?" she asked.
"I'll be fine." I assured.
She nodded again and we continued to hang up the clothes in silence. I only hoped that today would go by smoothly and no one else would get hurt. It's like everyone and their mother was getting shot at the same time.
"You know, he asked for you this morning." she stated out of the blue.
My eyes glanced back over to her in slight confusion, not knowing exactly who "he" was. But the moment I saw the small smirk creep up to her face, I put two and two together.
"Oh?" was all I managed to ask.
She laughed quietly and nodded her head, "I think you're good for him. I mean, you bring out this whole new side to him."
It was then my turn to laugh at that, "I don't think so." I muttered with a shake of my head.
"Well, I do," she replied, "I mean he was so worried about you when you got shot, and was ready to race out to the house in a heartbeat. And he stayed by your side talking to you for hours as soon as you woke up. And then the next day he gives you a new sketchbook that you've been wanting-"
"Okay, does everybody know about that?" I asked.
"Word travels fast," she winked, "But anyway, do you think he would've done all that for just anyone here?"
Standing there for a second, I genuinely thought, would he? We had gotten closer at the CDC and just kept getting closer after that. I was willing to admit that I did have some feelings for Daryl, I wasn't about to deny that to myself, but I guess I always just pushed those feelings aside because I assumed he didn't feel the same way. Also, to me this wasn't necessarily the best time to be thinking about a relationship when there are much bigger problems going on around us every day.
Though she took my silence as a no, "I also don't think he would've let me kiss him on the head yesterday if you hadn't been there. I think he might be trying to show his soft side to you."
I scoffed, "Alright. So, what exactly are you getting at here?" I asked.
She smiled a real smile as she nudged her shoulder with mine, "He likes you."
"Well, we're friends, I sure hope he likes me a little bit." I joked.
She shook her head, "No Rose, he has a little crush on you."
I knew what she meant the first time, but I guess I just didn't want to hear it. I mean I did want to hear it, but I wanted it to be true, and I needed to hear it from the man himself in order to believe that. Physically see the words coming out of his mouth for me to truly know that it was real, and not all in my head.
I smiled and shook my head at her, "Whatever you say." I muttered to the woman, wanting to drop the topic completely.
Casual small talk filled the silence as we quickly made our way through all the clothes that were sloppily laid out in the baskets. I finished helping her after another few minutes, hanging up one last pair of pants, before walking back off towards Daryl's tent with a wave of my hand from over my shoulder.
I had forgotten the one knife I always kept in my boot, silently wanting to grab it quick before I headed out to look for Sophia. I walked past Shane and Rick, letting them know I would be ready to head out soon and they both nodded before going back to their hushed conversation.
Though just before I could walk another two steps, Glenn suddenly approached me like a man on a mission. He quickly stopped me in my tracks with a small basket in his hands, right before I could just barely reach the damn tent.
"Hey, do you want a peach?" he asked me quickly.
My eyes widened as his assertiveness before muttering, "Sure?"
He then was looking around, almost anxiously as I leaned down a bit to pick a couple that looked fine enough. I noticed almost instantly and glanced up at him with one of my eyebrows raised. He seemed panicked before flashing me a reassuring smile that wasn't very convincing.
"You okay?" I asked him slowly.
"Okay? Yeah, yeah, I'm okay. Why wouldn't I be okay? I'm just uh...passing out these peaches and then I'll probably go talk to Maggie for a little bit- unless you want to hangout? We could hangout if you wanted, maybe help out around here, find something to do." he rambled.
I almost physically took a step back in shock that he just word vomited on me and looked slightly behind his head to see Rick and Shane both trying not to laugh as they caught the end of the conversation.
"Glenn just breathe," I told him and he did, taking in a few deep breaths, "I'm going out to look for Sophia today, but we'll talk later...okay?"
He nodded his head frantically, "Okay, yeah...good." he muttered before turning around and taking off in the other direction before I could even bat an eye.
I looked back at Rick and Shane and just mouthed "Wow." Then they actually let their laughter fill the air as I finally walked towards the place I was trying to get to in the first place. I made my way up to the front of the tent and unzipped it, trying to do it gracefully with two peaches balancing in my hands. My gaze then immediately landed on someone laying down inside and I couldn't help but jump in surprise.
Though upon taking a second to actually glance at the intruders face, Daryl only looked up at me confused from his comfortable position, causing me to let out a breath.
"Jesus, you scared the shit out of me." I said as I made my way in.
His brows furrowed, "Ya do remember this is my tent, right?" he asked sarcastically.
I rolled my eyes, "Yes smartass, I remember, but you're supposed to be recovering in the house."
"Yeah, well I warned ya that probably wouldn't last long."
I shrugged, "Fair enough," I said before glancing down at my hands momentarily, "You want a peach?"
He smiled at me and nodded, taking it from my hands. I then turned my attention back to trying to find my knife in my bag, digging through the small pockets to try and feel for it. I felt Daryl's eyes on me as I looked, though I pretended not to notice as my focus was solely right in front of me. My fingers then felt the small blade and I pulled it out successfully before turning back to face him, his eyes ducking away from me as if he wasn't staring.
"I'm going to head out today and look for Sophia. Stay here and rest for me, will you?" I asked.
He nodded as I turned around to leave, but he quickly started to say something else before I could take another step. "Hey uh... will ya do me a favor?" he asked hesitantly.
"Sure?" I responded.
He then put the peach down and pulled out some fresh bandages for his head, "Will ya help me change these?" he asked shyly.
I smirked a little to myself before nodding my head. Sitting myself down at the end of his sleeping bag, he sat up with his legs crossed, leaning his face closer. I tried to ignore the slight shake in my hands and removed the old bandages delicately, not wanting to rip anymore stitches he had. He began to stare at me as I worked carefully, his eyes scanning all over my face as I desperately tried to focus on anything else but how close he was to me.
I saw out of my peripheral vision that his eyes flickered to my lips every so often, but I just continued to focus on changing the bandage like he asked. Disregarding the old ones, I started to wrap the new bandage around his head a few times, making sure it was tight enough before I was finished.
Finally getting the nerve to look him in the eye, I realized how close our faces actually were, our noses almost touching, and I could've sworn I could feel his breathing feather across my cheeks. I smiled a little before backing up, though I never took my eyes off of him.
"So, how's it look nurse? Am I gonna live?" he smirked.
I scoffed at him but that just made his smirk grow, "Yeah I think you'll live, it won't damage your brain...or well in your case," I trailed off, leaning closer to him and placing my hand on the other side of his head as I looked with furrowed brows, "What's left of one." I finished with a smirk of my own.
"Hey!" he said defensively, trying to fight the smile that was coming onto his face, while trying to smack my hand off his head. I ended up placing both my hands on the sides of his face while we both were laughing tiredly at the joked that wasn't even that funny. He then grabbed both of my wrists, taking my hands off fully, somehow bringing our faces closer than last time.
The smiles we once had on our faces, slowly faded once we both realized the distance between us was only smaller. He was still holding onto my wrists, swearing I could feel him rubbing his thumbs across my skin softly, but it was hard to tell when all I could think about was how our lips merely centimeters away.
"Rose?" a sudden voice called out from outside.
We both jumped away from each other rather quickly upon hearing the interruption, not daring to look each other in the eye. It wasn't like we were embarrassed to be caught, but almost embarrassed because both of us were too scared to close the distance.
My eyes shut tightly with a sigh before I stood up to leave, glancing at him one more time, "I'll see you later." I muttered before leaving, not giving him a chance to respond.
I exited the tent to see Rick standing a few feet away, hands on his hips expectantly as he waited for me, "Sorry, I'm ready. Where do you want me to look?"
He nodded once behind him, "Here let me show you on the map." he replied, and we walked over towards the hood of a truck and looked at the map that had all kinds of markings on it.
He pointed to the spot that he and Shane would be searching together in case I needed them, and then pointed to where I would be looking. I nodded my head and wished them good luck before I was off heading in the other direction.
I was out there for a few hours and had no luck. No trace of her. To think that Rick only left her for a few minutes and just like that she was gone, like she disappeared into thin air. I tried my best to find any type of tracks, either hers or a walker, but nothing. I just wasn't having the best luck, so I made my way back to the farm because my side was starting to kill me, and I forgot to take more painkillers before I left. I felt defeated but I didn't want to just give up or lose hope, so I didn't.
When I got back to the house, I immediately heard screaming coming from a little ways down the field and I couldn't help but groan to myself. A part of me just wanted to turn my ass back around and leave again to get a few more minutes of peace, but that apparently was unrealistic.
My eyes scanned the area to pinpoint where it was coming from, only to find Maggie blowing up at Lori with Glenn just a few feet behind her. I couldn't quite make out the words she was saying from the distance, but soon she stormed off in the direction that I was in. She was speed walking and tried to completely walk past me but I slightly stepped in front of her.
"Maggie what's wrong? You, okay?" I asked her.
"I- I don't know Rose I just need to cool off, we'll talk later okay?" she responded briefly before taking off again.
I was taken aback at how upset and fearful she was all at once, glancing back to see Glenn talking to Lori, I decided to walk over to them to see what the problem was.
"Guys?" I said to get their attention.
They both stopped talking and snapped their necks to look back at me with baffled expressions. "Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah uh... yeah everything's fine Ro." Glenn said.
My brows furrowed as I wasn't convinced in the slightest, looking over at Lori who couldn't make eye contact with me as she just stared at her shoes in embarrassment. Glancing back to Glenn, I raised my eyebrows at him in question, hoping he could tell me what the hell was going on. His eyes darted between Lori and I a few times before mouthing "Tell you later." I just nodded my head and walked off towards the house, though I couldn't have been left more confused.
As I made my way up the porch, I could hear them beginning to talk again, but I just brushed it off as I made it through the front door and headed up to the bathroom. I looked through all the cabinets before finally finding some painkillers that would ease the throbbing pain I still had in my side. Popping a few of them in my mouth, I left the bathroom slowly to see Beth sitting quietly in her room, and an idea formed in my head. I figured now was as good a time as any to teach her a few things she wanted to learn on the guitar.
"Hey hon," I said to get her attention, "Do you want to learn a few chords on the guitar today?" I asked as I peeked my head through the doorway.
Her eyes lit up, "Yeah! Let me just go get it quick." she said, before rushing back downstairs.
I entered her room right as she was walking out and sat at the end of her bed as I waited. My eyes scanned the walls and noticed the small decorations she had around, and I thought it matched her personality pretty well. Small pictures in frames were hung up on the walls, painted a pretty pink color. Leaving the rest of her furniture a bright white, pulling everything together in the simplest way.
She came back in moments later with a huge smile on her face and the guitar in her hand, sitting down next to me while I was trying to figure out what to teach her first.
"Well, I guess the first thing you need to know is how to hold it so, hold it so your left hand is on the strings and your right will hold the pick." I said to her.
She adjusted the guitar in her hold and then looked at me when she was ready for the next thing.
"Okay, now we can learn a few chords." I stated.
I proceeded to show her five different ones she could do pretty easily since it was her first time. After she got comfortable enough with those, I showed her the few songs she could play with what she learned, and she was getting pretty good at it the more she practiced.
Though we both seemed to burst into laughs when she would curse the second she messed up, but picking back up where she left off with a shake of her head. That, and we found ourselves getting somewhat distracted during random times, talking casually as she took a few breaks here and there. But in the end, she learned how to play 2 songs pretty well after a few hours, leaving her feeling very proud of herself of what she had accomplished.
"Hey, why don't I play one of the songs you taught me, and you sing the lyrics." she suggested suddenly, strumming a few chords absentmindedly.
I immediately shook my head, "Um... I don't think so. How about I play, and you sing." I responded.
"Oh, come on," she tried again, "I just know you're a good singer, I can feel it." she said.
I gave her a pointed look, "You can feel it, huh?" I asked sarcastically, "I don't know hon, it's been a while and I don't really sing anymore." I spoke.
"Well, it's just me. Here I won't even look at you if that helps." she said and turned to face the wall.
I debated in my head for a few seconds before rolling my eyes, though she wasn't able to see, "Fine." I muttered.
I could tell she smiled in victory, "Which one do you want me to play?" she asked excitedly.
"Whichever one you want. I like both of them." I replied.
She thought for only a second before slowly playing the intro to Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison. I smiled small to myself, though mentally preparing myself for something I hadn't felt in a while. Nausea washed over me almost instantly, and even though it was just Beth hearing me, I still grew nervous. But nonetheless I took a deep breath and started once the intro ended.
Singing again felt surreal and only brought back memories that I tried hard to repress. All I could think as I continued through the song was about how I used to sing constantly when it wasn't looking too good in my household. With my mother constantly looming over me, I found that singing distracted me, even if it was just for a few moments. It helped. But it was more of something that helped me cope through terrible times, not something that was enjoyable.
But the song thankfully came to a close quicker than I thought, Beth stopping the music and looking back at me with a huge smile on her face. I smiled awkwardly as I tried to forget the feeling I had moments ago, the reminder of the past I didn't need.
"That was amazing Rose!" Beth exclaimed while taking the guitar off and wrapping me in a tight hug, which I returned after a moment.
The sound of soft clapping was then heard from right outside of her room, pulling apart to see Hershel standing there in the doorway with a smile on his face.
"You two sound beautiful together." he complimented.
"Thank you." I said sincerely.
Beth squealed to her dad in excitement, "Rose taught me how to play some things on the guitar and I got her to sing! Doesn't she sound amazing?" she asked.
"Yes she does, Rose you're very talented." he said.
"Okay, okay enough, my head's getting way too big," I brushed off with a laugh, "But thank you."
He nodded his head and came to sit by Beth while she told him everything that I had been teaching her the past few hours, going on and on and only continuing to fill my ego.
I then got up and cleared my throat, "Well, I'm going to head out to check on Glenn, but I'll see you guys later."
Beth nodded, "Okay, thanks again for teaching me. Do you think I can learn some more soon?" she asked.
I smiled, "Sure, just come find me when you want some new songs to learn." I winked.
She smiled and nodded her head before turning back to her dad to tell him more, watching as he got lost in her words and excitement. I smiled to myself before turning around to set off to find Glenn, needing to know what was going on earlier and in the back of my mind it was driving me crazy.
The second I walked outside, I immediately spotted him right next to the RV. He was sitting talking to Dale about something casually when he suddenly saw me out of the corner of his eye, jumping out of his chair and rushed over to me in a matter of seconds. As he was walking towards me quickly, looking like a lunatic, I made eye contact with Dale as the older man followed his retreating figure to see where he was taking off to. He surprisingly gave me a small nod and a smile and I returned it.
I knew just after that small exchange that we were okay, and we could move on from what happened. It was nice to know we were both mature enough for that.
"My God, where have you been? I've been looking all over for you, come on." Glenn said quickly before grabbing me by my arm and dragging me away.
"Well, you didn't look very hard because I was literally in the house the whole time." I clapped back as we walked.
He didn't say anything to my smartass comment, he didn't say anything really until he knew we were far enough away from everyone so no one could hear our conversation. He then dropped my arm and started pacing back and forth, thinking loudly to himself as if he didn't know where to start. I followed him with my eyes as he visibly had an inner debate with himself, my arms crossing over my chest impatiently waiting.
After a few minutes of making myself dizzy, my annoyance grew, "Jesus Christ, just spit it out Glenn."
He stopped pacing and looked at me, and without missing a beat he said, "Lori's pregnant and the barn is full of walkers."
My eyes slowly started to widen the longer I took the information in, processing it as best as I could though it was all insane. It was just a few words, but they were both really big problems. Lori being pregnant in a world like this was no good for her or anyone else. We had Hershel, somewhat of a doctor here to make sure everything was running smoothly. But that didn't mean we could protect this baby from everything, even with the safety of being on the farm. And the walkers in the barn? Oh, I had so many questions, but the biggest one was, why the fuck?
Glenn watched me carefully process all this information, eyeing me nervously, "Take your time, it's a lot to take in." he muttered.
"Yeah, no shit." I snapped, before the habit was suddenly passed onto me, pacing back and forth in a slight panic.
He sighed from behind me, "Well, no need to get snappy at me."
"How long have you known?" I suddenly asked, whipping around to face him.
He stood there for a second, no longer meeting my eyes, "Too long."
I sighed angrily, tangling my fingers through my hair, "Why didn't you tell me when you first found out? This is a huge deal Glenn, my God." I said angrily.
"I'm sorry Ro. I'm so sorry, Maggie told me I couldn't tell anyone and so did Lori. And to be honest I didn't want two women being mad at me at the same time."
"Yeah, well congratulations. Though you seemed to make one pretty damn mad." I quickly said as I gestured to myself.
He sighed and reached out to get me to stop anxiously bouncing on the balls of my feet, "I know, I know but I'm telling you now. I'm sorry."
I stood there for a second looking at him, my face softening after hearing his words. "No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you, it's just... well like you said it's a lot to take in."
He smiled slightly as he nodded, wasting no more time as he went to tell me all the little details. Everything from who knew about what, everything that happened with Lori, and his plan to tell everyone about the walkers tomorrow morning. It was in fact a lot to process, but I was proud of him for telling the group about the walkers even if Maggie would be upset with him. Deep down knowing that it was the right thing to do.
After he told me everything and finally got it all off his chest, we were now sitting down on the grass in complete and utter silence. I didn't know how long we sat like that, our minds running on overdrive, but it had to be a long time considering the farmhouse's lights turned off for the night ages ago.
"Maggie is gonna hate me."
I shook my head, "No she's not. She might be upset at first, but she's not going to hate you. But are you guys, okay? I never got that update." I commented, wiggling my eyebrows as I winked at him.
He rolled his eyes and pushed my arm lightly, "Yeah, we're okay...but after tomorrow I'm not so sure. Ask me again in a couple days."
I laughed lightly as I nodded, "It'll be okay. It's all going to work itself out."
His eyes glanced at me in silent appreciation, wrapping an arm around me as he pulled me in for a side hug. I rested my head on his shoulder with a content sigh as the silence took over once again, thinking about how tomorrow was going to suck ass.

Now that you mootified me, there will be so many asks from me😈 but I will send a few condensed ones to start off with
to begin:
TOP FIVE RIORDANVERSE BOOKS GO!!
TOP FIVE APOLLO CAMPERS EXCLUDING WILL GO!!
TOP FIVE NAOMI SOLACE AND WILL HEADCANONS GO!!
DID YOU LIKE TSATS, NOT READ, OR DISLIKED AND WHY??
and last- but CERTAINLY not least-
Naomi Solace headcanons for my brain rot🫶
Thanks in advance for the brain rot, and I apologize if this got sent in twice; my tumblr crashed as I was submitting the first one😡
Yippie!!!
top five is ROUGH uhmmmmm
Titan's Curse and the Last Olympian are so up there. I also really love the Son of Neptune. I'm rereading all the books again for the millionth time but this time I'm annotating so I can actually pic favorites, but I'm still on SoN so I can't make up my mind on the rest yet 😭😭
top five EXCLUDING WILL?!?!???!?!?!? HE'S LITERALLY MY FAVORITE HE'S MY BBG I LOVE HIM WHAT. (can't) call me basic but I LOVE kayla and austin. Also Lee and Michael hold a verryyyyy special place in my heart. Can I say myself? KIDDING. uhm uhm uhm. I don't remember any others woops
UGH I love Naomi and Will!!!! 1. Will is the textbook definition of a Mama's Boy. and his mama KNOWS IT. She's so proud of him 2. Naomi isn't really the best at telling people what she's thinking or how she feels about them (i e "I'm proud of you" "you did really good!" "you have such talent for (said thing)") but she always ALWAYS makes a conscious effort to tell Will she loves him 3. Will may be a sixteen year old, 6'4'' grown child, but he will still curl up in his mama's arms. 4. Will didn't meet his grandparents til he was 12. He had been a year round camper since he was 10. When he turned 11, Naomi moved back in with her parents. After a bit, Will went to 'summers only' for a year 5. When Will can't sleep, he'll listen to some of Naomi's older songs, the ones she'd sing for him when she was still writing them.
Plus one... two. 6. Like alot of young kids, Will liked to hold strands of Naomi's hair when he was pretty young. She kept it long and curly, and Will loved the texture. (and this is why Will likes to play with Nico's hair) 7. Will was born with brown hair, the same light brown that Naomi has. When he was claimed by Apollo, most of his hair went blonde. (happens to every child of apollo)
I personally LOVE tsats. I really don't think it was that good of a book and, as always with Rick's books, there are many time inconsistencies, but I still love it with my whole heart. Nico was my favorite character as soon as he was introduced, blah blah blah saw myself in him, blah blah blah other traumatic stuff that made me love him more, now he's queer and i'm crying because he's like me blah blah blah, and BOOM! TSATS! It's very dear to me because I get to see these characters over come their problems and... it's jsut very emotional
NAOMI FOR THE WIN!!!!! @mediumgayitalian has some really good Naomi writings
She met Apollo at one of her first gigs at a local bar. She thought he was some fancy fella from a band. They 'dated' for a bit before he had to go. Naomi understood, a good musicians life was never stationary. She was nineteen. When she was found out she was pregnant, she ran away from home, absolutely terrified of what her good Christian parents would think if they found out she had gotten knocked up by some no good rocker.
It was just them for a while, Naomi and her little baby. She never acted like she was always alone. Always said "us" and "we". She was never alone, she had her baby. She had to bounce around from place to place, looking for working, looking for a place to stay. A month before Will was born, she finally found a stable job and apartment. Naomi loved Will more than she thought she ever could, seeing as she already loved him so much before she had even met him. They were never separated- hell, until he started kindergarten, Will went to work with Naomi. All her coworkers loved him, his gap-toothed smile and face that lit up like the sun. That's all Naomi ever needed. Her son. Her sun. And, of course, he became her muse. Every song she wrote was about him in some way. Something about the sunshine, or a baby's laugh, her strongest love, her will to live. Her music started to get popular. Naomi would pinch Will's cheeks, "all because of you," she'd face. Will would giggle in return. Sure, he didn't entirely understand what it all meant, but if Naomi could keep him happy, she would do anything. Will was about eight when Naomi started opening up to the possibility of touring. It was nerve-wracking. Her stability, which she had worked so hard for, would be gone. She'd be bouncing around again, but this time she'd have Will with her. She was more of a "we" than she thought before. After some convincing from her friends (friends? coworkers? other women her age with children she was able to speak to occasionally? it was all the same) Naomi decided that the tour would be good for Will. The money she could get off of it... She could give Will a good life, better than what she would be able to do on her own.
She hadn't expected Will to hate the tour life as much as he did. He had to spend more time alone or with a babysitter, away from his mama. She wasn't there to tuck him in every night. He was sleeping in hotels or on a bus, not in his bed that had always been right by hers. Then, right around Will's tenth birthday, Naomi started to notice some odd things. Odd things that put Will in danger. So they went to New York.... And Will went to camp. Naomi, now she won't admit it, but she cried for weeks after she dropped him off. She couldn't sleep without him there, now completely alone. Alone for the first time in her life. She missed her baby boy, his sunshine smiles, his laughter, his stubborn curls- Hell, she missed the fact that they couldn't be in separate rooms for more than five minutes before Will started to get nervous. She missed the way he'd brush through her hair whenever he was sitting next to her, how he always curled up to her side and tucked himself under her arms. So for the first time in ten years, she called her mama. Naomi was 30 when she moved back in with her parents. She couldn't write songs any more, every one came out sounding wrong, half complete. Things didn't make sense. So she worked on their farm, helped them keep up the chores and maintain the fields Most of her cousins worked for the family business too, so she saw them almost daily either out on the fields or while dropping off shipments. She could feel the way they judged her. She left with that baby years ago. Now she's here and her baby ain't. How must she look as mother? If only they knew, how hard it was for her. So, with Chiron's permission and direct instructions of care (how stupid is that, Naomi having to learn how to take care of HER baby from someone else) Naomi brought Will home for the school year. Her parents LOVED him. They adopted the roles of Gammie and Pawpaw quickly. "Oh look at that smile," they'd coo and pinch at Will cheeks. But Will didn't laugh the same. He was hesitant, shakier. Wore an ace bandage around his wrist. His arms and legs were littered with light scars. Hell, his hair was blonde now! Will, always her baby, didn't look like her baby. Naomi was scared for him. But Will was still a kid, he'd run and laugh with her cousins' kids, he made friends at school, he shared stories of what life was like during the rest of the year (even though Naomi had heard it all in letters), he Pawpaw out with the animals on the farm. Her baby was back. She wouldn't be able to keep him for long, and god knew how much different he was gonna be next time she saw him, but for now she had her baby.
woops sorry that was a long one

ok so i finally got around to the latest episode because school has been kicking my ass and the only thing i have to say is . . . what the fuck.
although this is probably my second favorite episode of season 3, some of the writing choices are blowing my mind. din giving bo-katan the dark saber EXACTLY LIKE SABINE DID IN REBELS is crazy. the literal exact same thing already happened and blew up in her face and she talked about in the end of season 2 how she can’t just take it, it’s her honor, etc etc and through a loophole she’s just . . . accepting it again?
din spent time in seasons 1 and 2 and even the beginning of season 3 learning not all droids are bad with IG-11 and R5 and even the mechanic droids in bobf but in this episodes he goes back to hating droids again with a passion. they nerfed his fighting skills this season so bo-katan could shine even tho there is no reason why him being good at fighting should impact her ridiculous storyline anyways
i’ll be honest i’m a fan of din becoming mand’alor, but i’m not mad he got rid of the darksaber when he didn’t want it in the first place. i’m upset at this season because they shelved his character development, bo-katan is the main character even tho she was a terrorist and nobody talks it about it, the dialogue is horrible in some spots, and the side quests have nothing to do with the overarching plot. the mandalorian doesn’t need to have main action in every single episode, but at least in previous seasons the side quests made sense in terms of getting info, owing favors, gathering allies, etc. now it’s just lets fight a giant pterodactyl and random pirates and THE MAIN VILLAIN OF SEASONS 1 AND 2 BREAKING OUT OF PRISON BUT NOT SHOWING IT ON SCREEN.
the last two episodes are directed by rick famuyiwa so im holding out hope but idk man

people say things like that as if we aren't talking about a show with 8 ep that have thirty-ishy min each
the book is a BOOK, it has space to develope so much more things than a TV show does, charon show up in the screen so little, while in the books we see days worth of interaction between percy and charon, how do you expect him to have a full developed personality??? and to be honest I kinda like some things better in the show than in the book. like grover for example, he's so better developed in the show than he's in the book and I will trade his arch for charon's in a heart beat, not because he's more important but it makes more sense that the guy that percy sticks around more is more developed than the one who show ups for 2 seconds
it's just the first season, guys, chill, we will have more time to see those details being desenvolved. and I feel personally offended in Rick's behalf for you to say that the fact they didn't mentioned that charon likes Italian suits is equivalent to they changing the whole plot line in the movies, like??????? percy is 16 in the movies, the very same age he's supposed to fulfill the profecy, so why the whole history exist then???? makes no sense
and I personally think the show is so fucking funny, I crack up at every silly joke and interaction, like percy thinking annabeth is akaward bc they huged??? the whole "we are good, thanks " with ares???? "the animals will be fine" "I was talking about the people" GUYS, seriously?? are you sleeping on that???
I think Rick is making such a good job at reinventing the story and still preserving the skeleton of it, there are so many things that makes more sense now, how they show up Sally's past and make her a more deep character and not only Percy's mom, how they make grover more active in the question, not just the guy who is always afraid, how they start from day 1 to developed annabeth's whole persona and her feelings/ beliefs
the show is amazing, so much quality in the effects and the scenarios, such chemistry between the actors and each one of them fits their role perfectly, Rick said from the beginning that he was going to change something to make more sense in our world today and to insert some narratives that he ignored at first
I will gladly miss the fact that they don't mention charon like Italian suits BEACUSE ITS NOT THE TIME YET, charon gains more depth and more significance in the second book, things that are missing now are missing bc it's not their time yet
and it's super valid being upset that some details that you like don't show up, I was super sad that the scene from the aqua park changed, but that's alright bc we got so much more in return, it is so much better than it is in the book, so more profound, and it develops the characters so much faster than it would do if it was like in the books, which is super necessary given that it's a series with just 8 episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway, no hate to anyone, but be more understandable that the show is a show, don't have the time to include everything, and Rick's playing the long game, I'm sure that the who create the whole thing and fought tirelessly for it to be properly represented it's gonna make sure that it's properly represented, we just have to be patient.
Rick Riordan constantly trashing the movies for not sticking to his books then releasing a show in which he rewrites everything and loses the spirit of the books entirely

How I’d rate the Gods/Goddesses(riordanverse)
This is my rating based off the way Rick Riordan portrayed them in the Riordanverse. The traditional myths have been taken into account but do not make up my entire opinion.
Hestia:
10/10 would give my life for this goddess. In all aspects of the word, this goddess is a goddess. I want a novella of her watching over the hearth and watching out for her family and the heroes. I imagine her being a very comforting presence and warm like a hug, and maybe this is me projecting my mummy issues but I just want her to hug me.
Dionysus:
A solid 7.35/10 for Mr D. Naturally he was a bit annoying, but we were never under the pretence that he he was meant to be anything more than what he provided and I respect that. Him caring about his kids at camp, and staying relatively loyal to his wife is always a plus. And I like his relatively humble beginnings being a hero and becoming a god and then not causing that much trouble in the series. Unlike some other pieces of shit.
Hermes:
4/10. Mans had no right blaming Luke’s thirst for mass genocide on 16 year old Annabeth. Not cool man. Not cool. He gets the points he got because he did genuinely care about Maia, and Luke, but he lost the rest of them by having a blatant favourite (who literally caused so much destruction). However I do still like his line about family in sea of monsters and never giving up on them. Nice meaning. But he was still a shitty father and only intervened out of self interest most of the time.
Aphrodite:
2/10. I hate how low I have to rank her. But my god did Rick do her dirty in his depiction. Just the misogyny, the lack of depth, and the untouched potential she has as a character, as a goddess, THE OLDEST GOD/GODDESS and Rick really made her throw rose petals around the battle fields on one of (what was meant to be) the biggest fights of the riordanverse. Absolute robbery. If I’m not mistaken as well, she was a huge contributor to the issues and obstacles percabeth went through and we do not Stan. HOWEVER, I love her as a goddess normally, and what she could represent if she’s written properly.
Hephaestus:
8/10. I have no qualms with this man. I too prefer the company of inanimate objects to people and get stressed about social interaction. And I too have mummy issues. So me and Hephaestus are on the same page. Let this man tinker away in his little bunker. He never went out of his way to make things harder for demigods, and was helpful when they came to him for help which I can also respect. (Point deduction because it was on his land that Bianca died…if I’m not mistaken).
Ares:
-12/10. This man was introduced as a bully, and gives off the vibes of every phobic, known to humanity. I do not vibe. I do not agree. I do not stan. ALSO his motorbike seat is apparently made from "Caucasian human skin”!!!!!!???? We as children never questioned this? We just went sure aight move on?! Please this man has the biggest small dick energy if I ever saw it and I despite him so much. Mans was also never helpful. Ever. I don’t think. I think Mars was better than him though so I’ll give him that.
Artemis:
9.99/10 all hail queen of the lesbians. Mad respect to this woman. In what she stands for, who she protects and in her actions. She’s what I embody when I stand up for myself in fights and when I speak to have my voice heard. I like Rick’s depiction of her and I love seeing her and her hunters pop up in his books. Would love a couple books on the hunters and their adventures. Also I love archery. And I’m biased to the moon because I love the night so she gets extra points for all of that too.
Apollo:
Prior to Trials of Apollo 7/10, after TOA 9.90/10. Yes it’s a big jump but my god did Lester grow on me. Prior to TOA he was pretty average. He was funny, always provided a good laugh to the plot and was always helping the demigods which I loved. But I know he’s an asshole full of himself so I can’t give him any higher than that until he had some character development, which we got in TOA (specifically after Burning Maze). And I really like who he is now and the type of character Rick shaped him out to be. In the myths he’s a big creep, and I still stand by that idea, hence why he doesn’t get a full 10.
Athena:
3.5/10…ughhh I hate to say this. But part of it is the same reasoning I gave about Aphrodite. I just have so many issues with the way she’s portrayed and it’s not accurate to what I believe in my heart she should represent. And as a child of Athena, I feel like Rick then did her entire legacy dirty. She has her moments, but since I can’t even fully recall one right now, it just proves my point. As a goddess as a whole though, what she represents is everything I aspire to be in life. She’s my entire aesthetic of hard work, creativity, and strength and grit, without taking away of being a powerful female. Zeus’ lead strategist like shit, Rick could have done so much. But he did not. And I am thus sad about it.
Demeter:
6/10. I have no issues with Demeter. Kinda boring. I think that’s what most of the fandom thinks as well. She just didn’t get enough screen time or development. I have no attachment to her. I think the powers that she has, and has passed on to her kids is cool though so there’s that. But in the series as well she doesn’t do much. She also (initially) doesn’t fight in the battle of Manhattan so maybe I’m slightly bitter there. But yeah, i’m indifferent.
Hades:
8.99/10 Okay so hear me out I know this man gets so much bad rep in the myths and that’s part of why he doesn’t get a full 9. But I really really love the way he’s depicted in the riordanverse, especially with his entire arc with his kids/specially with Nico. Like literally one of my favourite quotes In the entire series is “my children are so rarely happy, I would like to see you be the exception.” Out of the gods listed here (and excluding Dionysus), he acts like a genuine parent to his kids and tries. And like there’s issues, sure, but he works on them. And since so much of the first series is about how the gods are neglectful, seeing him change and seeing him fight for Nico is my everything.
Poseidon:
7.1/10. Honestly this feels too high considering mans was nearly If not just as bad as Zeus in keeping it in his dam pants. His points come from treating Sally like the queen she is, and trying with Percy (albeit too little too late but I can see the minimal effort). That being said, he’s really shitty in the myths so I can’t really give him anything higher than this. He’s barely a dad, and sees Percy more as an ally than an actual son or human being that needs attention. I like him more in Fanon and the way that I write him lmao because I humanise him. But I won’t lie he’s dilf material, and I still like rick’s depiction of him.
Hera:
3/10 I’m surprising myself with this rating because tbh I might even push her to 4.5 just because she’s so consistent in her own goals and agenda, and that perseverance is very admirable even if it was at the cost of some of my favourite characters. She was very much two faced though and fucked around stuff that she should have stayed out of. Her hatred for literal children though is a bit problematic. I have no attachment to her but I admire how much she just wants a family. However she just really needs to assess how she approaches that since it’s a bit messed up.
Zeus:
-5/10 I really don’t Zeus, his character, him in the myths, everything about him. He gives off the vibes of a man who abuses the power that he was given. And I don’t like that. It makes me uncomfortable and I don’t like him at all. His treatment of his children, of the demigods, and the way he governs Olympus. Not a fan. I could rule Olympus better and I’m a mentally unstable, serotonin deficient 20 year old with a hyper fixation on greek mythology and Minecraft. However despite not liking his character, I think Rick does a great job at depicting him accurately to how he was in the myths.

Most Marvel post-credit scenes hint at the future. Loki opted for a blunter approach: the God of Mischief would return in season 2.
Based on the final turn of events, there was really no other choice: Loki (Tom Hiddleston), having journeyed to the furthest point in spacetime with his variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) to meet the founder of the TVA, a scientist-turned-survivor-of-multiversal-war known as He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), finds himself zapped into a new reality when his lady self slays the omnipresent being. The mind reels!
Creator Michael Waldron takes delight in the endless possibilities of Loki’s core premise. And as a veteran of Rick and Morty, he knows what anchors a mind-bending show, and what will keep Hiddleston’s character hurtling through his chaotic, rewritten future. Below, Polygon talks to Waldron about landing on the key choices of Loki season 1, what to expect from season 2, and a bit on his next project, the wrestling drama Heels, which is set to premiere on Aug. 15.
Did you know there’d be a second season of Loki from the beginning or was that choice made later in the process?
Michael Waldron: We always knew that it was a possibility. We always knew that we wanted to propel Loki and these characters out into the MCU after this, into further stories. But that didn’t really crystallize as a sure thing until we were in production and everything. And as we were really figuring out the finale.
So you were still cracking the ending as you shot the show?
There was a hiatus due to the pandemic. So things were constantly being retooled because of that. I think, by and large, everything with He Who Remains and the Sylvie-Loki conflict was always there. But that cliffhanger was the sort of thing that suddenly became a really appealing opportunity, a chance for that to lead into a second season.
What element of the series helped you crack the macro story of Loki, and made all the other pieces fall into place? Each episode almost feels like a standalone adventure, similar to Rick and Morty, but what helped it all click?
The first couple of weeks in the writers room was just laying out the individual episodes. It was very important to me that each episode stood on its own, and you could say “This is the Lamentis episode,” “This is the apocalypse moon episode,” “This is the Void episode.” I didn’t want it to just be cut up chapters and have one long continuous story. Obviously, we had to figure out the time travel for things to slot into place. I think a big idea for us was the way you get around the TVA by hiding in apocalypses. That felt like such a big, cool, exciting idea that it drove the action of episode 2, episode 3, and in a way it’s like Alioth is the ultimate apocalypse that He Who Remains is hiding behind. That sci-fi idea cracked a lot open for us. I know that after we had that I went home and I slept a little sounder.
Did adding the multiverse to the Marvel Cinematic Universe feel like blowing something up or expanding it, in terms of narrative possibilities?
In the same way that after the first couple Iron Man movies, and with the first Avengers, suddenly these movies were kind of going to space. Then we had Guardians. I think of the multiverse as another version of that. It’s new ground to cover, and particularly interesting because characters meeting other versions of themselves and other versions of people they know is... cool. That’s just a cool sci-fi concept! But I think with anything, as you expand outward, it only works if the humanity remains. It’s exciting to watch characters dealing with big crazy multiversal conflicts because we can see ourselves in them. I think you just have to hold on to the humanity that makes these stories work in the first place.
Did you go back to the Thor movies for Loki? Was there anything to find in the past of Marvel as you were paving the future?
Absolutely. I mean I watched them many times, contrary to what Twitter might think because I did some bits on there saying that I’ve never seen Avengers and I upset some people [laughs]. I have seen it many times. “Confirmed: Loki writer has seen Avengers and saw it before writing Loki show.”
In fact, I was watching all these movies on a loop in the writers’ room. I gleaned so much because you watch the evolution of the character. Avengers was particularly informative because our story picks up Loki right after that, but I also I found a lot of inspiration in Thor: The Dark World, a maybe sometimes maligned movie that I actually really enjoy. I just think there’s great stuff with Loki being tangentially responsible for the death of his mother, how he reacts to that. That is the start of his journey of that version of Loki’s redemption, so I was inspired by that.
What’s propelling the characters into season 2? Where are you headed in basic terms?
In season 1, you saw a lot of characters reckoning with and questioning their own glorious purpose, and that glorious purpose changing, [characters] realizing that that can change. Everybody except for Sylvie. I think she holds onto hers, which is vengeance, and to the detriment of us all, perhaps. And we’ve got a Loki who, at the top of our show, assessed himself as a villain and, I would argue, at the end of our show, has become a little bit of a hero. There’s nothing more heroic to me than fighting for the right thing and losing. You see that washing over him as he’s there back at the TVA, after Sylvie has knocked back there. And then he gets up because that is what heroes do — they keep going. So I think that you’re gonna see a Loki that looks at himself in a different way certainly that at the top of this.
Do you hope to explore more of Sylvie’s backstory in season 2?
I guess we’ll see. We certainly have our own rich backstory for her, stuff that didn’t get to make it into the show. Elissa Karasik, our episode 2 writer, wrote a lot of amazing backstory for Sylvia and everything. So those ideas exist out there.
And her version of Thor?
Tune in.
How did He Who Remains come about? Did you bring the character to Marvel or was that a character Marvel hoped to introduce?
I was pushing and our team was pushing early on in the writers’ room that it should be a version of Kang up in that Citadel, sort of fusing the mythology of He Who Remains with a little bit of the Immortus mythology. And that was a thing we were excited to do. And it became clear that it actually made sense for our story. The only way we were going to do it was if it made sense, but it was like, who had a better argument for creating the TVA to prevent other versions of themselves from existing then a guy as evil as Kang the Conqueror?
You wrote the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — did Marvel hire you for that after Loki? Does the movie feel like a continuation of the show?
Yeah, that opportunity came as we were getting ready to start production on Loki. It was a pleasure. I got to work with Sam Raimi, a hero of mine. I was in London for five months making that movie at the top of this year. We had a blast. I think that it’s a continuation in as much as ever every Marvel movie is to some extent a chapter in an ongoing story, but these things are meant to stand alone and the most important thing about Doctor Strange too is making the most kick ass Doctor Strange movie we could.
Is Loki a two-part show now or are you invested in telling a longer story with future seasons beyond season 2?
Time will tell, but I do my hope is that season 1 stands on its own. We always wanted to tell a complete story there. And in whatever the next chapter may be will stand on its own as well.
Your next show, Heels, is already on the way. We got a big preview out of Comic-Con this year, but I’m curious about the scope of this story. You’re starting with two brothers running an independent wrestling franchise, but you’ve dropped the name “Vince McMahon” a few times — is this about the building of an empire? Would you liken it to The Godfather or Breaking Bad?
I always thought about it a little bit of a Scorsese-sort-of rise, and we’ll see if there’s a fall. Starting from humble beginnings and trying to build some crazy. Wrestling was certainly not always the empire that it is and that’s what’s interesting, to watch the evolution of a family-run wrestling business from something you do in your small towns and perhaps a national, even global empire. That would be a really compelling arc for a show over the course of several seasons. I’d be excited to explore that.
What’s the most dramatically fulfilling wrestling moment you’ve witnessed? What’s the bar for the wrestling drama of Heels?
It’s gotta be Hulk Hogan turning heel in the WCW. There was an invasion storyline, these guys from WWF, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, came over and they were the bad guys. It was at a Pay-per-view and and they were beating up on the good guys that you love, and here comes Hulk Hogan in the yellow and red and he’s the hero. “The Hulk’s gonna get ‘em! The good guy’s here!” And then the Hulk just leg drops Randy Savage. That was the original Red Wedding. I just think about the boldness of turning him heel. To a little kid... I wasn’t even like a massive Hulk fan, but he was just such a mythological figure. What a chance that Hulk Hogan took as a performer, as a bankable kind of movie star at that point. That was bold, risky storytelling and it set off two years of amazing storytelling with Hogan just playing a craven, cowardly heel and just being so evil. I really respect the hell out of them for doing that. That was a great storyline.

School
Since school is coming up and I’m not looking forward to it, I thought I’d do something fun about school to distract myself from the fact that I’m actually going to have to go into the building. And have gym. And do ‘social interaction’... Also, I think the cores in school would be entertaining and fun to write. Uh, this turned out a lot longer than expected, so, prepare for a long read.
Wheatley
He asks a lot of questions
It makes people think he’s stupid, but he actually is just curious and wants to make sure he’s doing everything right.
Presentations make him a bit nervous, but he ends up being the most entertaining one of them all
Mostly because he goes off-script and rambles about the topic or the project itself
If anything goes wrong in it, he talks about that too
“I forgot to add a period there, that’s- that’s just a run-on sentence now, so that’s not,, good. Just, uh, just pretend there’s always been a period there. You probably didn’t even notice it, actually, so just pretend I never said anything-”
For essays, he struggles more. When he’s talking, his rambling kind of carries him without thinking, but when it’s on paper, he has to focus on every single word he writes.
He has a hard time making that type of writing flow, with all the transition words and stuff.
But when he gets to write a poem (mostly freeform) or a story with his own imagination, amazing things happen
He loves to create his own little world inside the paper, of which he’s in control
So, despite the essays and persuasive papers, english is one of his better, and favorite subjects
Not great at math
Chell tries to help, and tutors him outside of class to keep his grades up
Those two are partners whenever possible
If not, Wheatley pairs up with Rick
Gym class fucking sucks (agree with him there)
Even though he’s physically strong, he’s not very athletic since he’s still super clumsy and doesn’t have great coordination
Confident when it comes to tests, not too nervous about it
Probably didn’t study much, unless Chell forced him to
Bullied
Mostly verbally and from afar though, since,, he’s very strong and the students know this
One time Rick walked right up to him and called him a moron
Wheatley proceeded to clock him in the jaw
No one ever made the same mistake again
He apologized profusely though, insisting he didn’t know what came over him
This happened at the beginning of the year, before Rick knew him
Specifically, before he knew how fucking strong Wheatley is
So since then, Rick’s tried to get on his good side, despite, most likely not being genuine about it
Besides incidents like that, Wheatley’s not a fan of school fights, and doesn’t get why everyone gets so excited that two people are attacking one another
Like ?? Are they okay???
Getting school supplies is fun
School is not
GLaDOS
I mean, I guess she’d be called Caroline in this scenario
She’s the popular kid, I mean what else do you expect?
At least, unlike the stereotype, she’s actually smart instead of just hot and intimidating
She’s both of those things too, but-
Do people actually like her or are they just scared of her?
The world may never know
Calls Wheatley a moron on a regular basis, sometimes just to mess with him, but isn’t stupid enough to do it within arms reach of him
Even if she did, Wheatley’s reputation would be in more danger than her own physical well being
Science is her favorite subject
Did you really have to question that one?
She’s also really good at math, and would be a good tutor if she wasn’t such a bitch
I call her that lovingly, of course, but you can’t deny the fact she’s a bitch-
Probably the smartest one in school
Although Nathan would claim the title for himself
But she probably has more street smarts
Rick
Is the one who makes comments about how hot the teacher is and no one can tell if he’s serious
Rick: “I’d hit that” Nathan: “That is very illegal.” Rick: Hey, I’m just kidding,, kinda” Nathan: “I will not hesitate to report your sorry ass if you think about making a move” Rick: “Fine, damn, I’ll shut my trap”
Rick, motioning to Wheatley: “Hey, look who’s here. Bet you he trips and falls in 3, 2″ Wheatley: *falls over before making it to his desk* Rick: “And down he goes.”
He has been to the principal’s office more times than anyone else in the group
Whether it be for walking out of class without permission, being an overall asshole, or for trying to sneak into staff only areas
Which he has done before
Nathan is the only student who has witnessed this and its unknown whether he has ratted him out or if the teachers just saw him
Isn’t great in school, grades-wise, but convinced Nathan to tutor him once in a while to keep him from failing
Definitely has fucked a girl in the broom closet before
Doesn’t like school, but gym isn’t bad
Usually partnered up with Wheatley in gym class because he likes having strength on his side
Probably pushes too hard when writing, so any mechanical pencil breaks within seconds unless he’s concentrated on not,, doing that
One of the only students to prefer normal pencils for this reason
Nathan
An actual tutor
He has generalized knowledge of a lot of things, so he’s great both in school and with trivia
Has the top grades in class
Best and favorite subject is math
He can and will read a full length novel in the span of two days
Makes sure he has more than enough of each supply at the beginning of the year, just in case
Actually keeps track of his supplies so he’s not left with a single pencil he found on the floor by the end of trimester 1
He does give/borrow some to students who lost their own pencils, though
He likes school, but the teachers don’t usually appreciate his insights and interruptions in class (often to add on or to correct something the teacher is saying)
Pluto
Doesn’t like school, but the social aspect of it is fun
He’s also really good at independent projects, especially if it’s about something he’s interested in
You know. Like space, for instance
The day his teacher asked the students in class to build a model of the solar system was one of the more significant moments in his life /hj
His was the most accurate, much to the disdain of Nathan
Favorite subject is also science
Virgil
I wasn’t gonna add him, but his favorite subject is history
I can’t give you a real reason why, it just is
That’s it, that’s the only reason he’s here
#i cant explain why glados has less info than rick#i guess my hatred for him made me think about him more#i only hate canon and musical rick btw#fan ricks can be cool :)#and even canon/musical rick is funny#i can admit that#wheatley#human wheatley#glados#human glados#rick the adventure core#nathan the fact core#fact core#space core#virgil core

Polkadot Man x M! reader Pt 2
Warning-Vent and a little bit of fluffy.
Summary: you manged to find out the truth but it didn’t help the fact you were still clinging onto something that has been proven true. Abner couldn’t help but comfort you even if you keep on rejecting every advantage. The thinker couldn’t help but feel a sense of justice but also a hint of guilt.
You sat within the bus eating girl scout cookies that you bought against Rick’s thoughts pressured on the cookies. “I can’t believe you actual bought girl scout cookies” Rick pondered on your childish behavior. “Your just jealous for your not stuffing your face” Rick rolls his eyes but smiles and gives you a fist bump.
Cleo grins for Rick stomach growls “And when was the last time you ate Rickie” you tease. Rick huffs and takes the offered cookies and says “Shut up” you hum. More boxes of girl scouts cookies are handed out to everyone expect Nanaue for he doesn’t eat such foods.
“I like strawberry” Abner mumbles to which cause you to trade over your strawberry for his chocolate ones. You gave him a sly wink to which cause him to hide his face with the help of the box.
“Hey why are you afraid of rats?” Cleo asks Robert while you moved and took a sit beside Abner. “Why are you so in love with them ratcatcher 2?, you know what I think?, I think you have serious case of daddy issues” you frowned at Robert. Robert isn’t exactly known as a expressive type and everyone can see it regardless how cold heart he is you know otherwise.
“I have no issues with how much I loved my father” Robert sighs “You remind me of my daughter that’s why I’m here”. You couldn’t help but smile while biting into a cookie. “Why are you afraid of rats?” Cleo once again asks the same question. “My old man. when I was a lad, if I didn’t finish a task right, he would dole out a punishment. And one day, he just locked me in a create for twenty-four hours. And it was full of starving rats”.
You sighed and whistled to gain Roberts attention and threw three cookies at him, he caught all three of them. “As imperfect my father was ,he loved me. I wish I could give that to you”. ‘Don’t worry yeah?, I’m gonna get you out of here alive” Cleo smiles “I’m going to get you alive out of here”.
“What about clock” you hummed “Your oddly quiet” Robert pips up “Oh yes whats your story”. Cleo smiles up at you while Abner turns his attention to how close you were. “I don’t want to bore anyone to death” Rick scoffs “Shut up and tell us, I’m all eyes and ears” you frown at him.
“Uh...where do I start, I was born in may the 18th 1918″ you thought of how you lost your mother. “My mother died after bring me into the world. I was small but strong while my father walked out of my mothers life the moment he found out she was pregnant”. Cleo frowns “So my granddad took me in so all I knew was that I had to live through a time era where if you were caught crying even a little your shamed for it”. Abner places a shy but comforting hand on top of yours “I was different I knew that but different made me strong and I reached for knowledge”.
“I found it easier to keep to myself until Benjamin came along in shape of defending me” you chuckled a little. “He is my childhood friend who glued himself to me from the very beginning, you see we both grew up in the back houses” Cleo frowns out of confusing. “That is what we called them, it’s just houses that were mistaken for apartments” Cleo nods. “I remembered getting into fights with older boys and I was an idiot for believing that I’ll win but I never did” Chris now understand why you protect Abner.
“But I ain’t no coward for I didn’t run away from a fight other then that the old crow wouldn’t let it go” Robert chuckles or something like that. “I would come home all scruffy every two weeks to the crows dismay” Rick nods. “Years past and I was top of my class even tho I caused trouble and had been caned for it” Abner winces at the thought of it. “I enrolled into university but halfway through my second semester I dropped out to join the air force in 1939 August the 18th” you had to take breath. “I had trained enough to find myself within the sky in the midst of 1942 defending my country” you found yourself growing a pit in your stomach and you felt like vomiting.
“I was battling above a filed like nothing had gone wrong in the first place, the very Nazi manged to slash me out of sky” Robert doesn’t know anything about the air force but can see it. “I found myself hurrying to my death until an enemy pilot collided with me but I didn’t meet death instead I found myself two days before the whole entire event”. “Other then that when the fall of Poland had happened I had to be the last to know” You squint at the box of chocolate cookies before you.
“Around the time Benjamin had been set off to Poland and hadn’t returned so when I had been shipped off to Poland, I searched for him” Robert clears his throat. “I think that’s enough” Robert could tell that you didn’t want to go any farther with your side of the story. Abner squeezes your hand and when you notice you move your hand from his to which caused him to shutter away.
“Hey penis-maker, we’re on a mission” Chris makes a face “Easy inspector gadget. A little drink never hurts nobody”. You frowned at the idea but you really need a pick me up so you gone with the flow. “Expect the thousands of people killed in drunk driving accidents every year” Abner commented. You stare at him and could tell he was still a little hurt from you moving away from him.
“Here’s to last three hours of being alive” Robert didn’t agree “I’ll be alive. You speak for yourself”. You drank your drink like a shot and didn’t hesitate to ask for another. You find yourself laughing and watch as Abner gag on his drink to which cause you to pat his back. “Easy there dots, you want to be somewhat sober” Abner nods.
Everyone found themselves dancing with the music blazing in the background. You watch them fail at one of the most simplest thing in the world and you couldn’t help but laugh. “C’mon Y/N join us” Abner spoke while holding out a hand. “No you guys got it handle, I’ll just get in the way” you weren’t an upbeat dancer your more of slow dance type of guy. “No your not, you need this too” You smiled but caved in “Fine”. You took a last swig of your drink before standing up to dance with him.
You held onto Abner’s waist from behind and dance with him, for the truth you weren’t that bad. Abner sways his hips in synced with yours and you couldn’t help but evolve your arms around him. Swaying with your face just a few inches off from his right shoulder. You held his hand and kept on swaying while the both of you smile and laugh. You tugged him back to which cause him to look down at you, you grin and “Damn you are one dish”. Abner frowns out of confusion but by your grin it must be a good thing.
Abner turns around and stares down at you and without warning he captures your lips with his. You stood thunderstruck but kiss back after a few seconds, it never accrued to you how soft his lips were. How gentle and shy he can be, how easy a red tent grows across his cheeks. He had to be the most sweetest thing you ever had met. Far too sweet, Abner had to be the number one candy in the world.
The two of you pull away with a small smiles on each other faces. You hum and kept on swaying to the music until Cleo poke Abner side. “Sorry for breaking you two up but you gonna have to focus for his here” you look and saw The thinker himself. You nod before parting from Abner to keep an eye on the weirdo over at the bar with Robert pressing a gun to his side.
But now here your with this odd looking man making a way to the back door with him mouthy off. “If you think that big mouth of yours is gonna save you sadly think again” he hums at your words. “Your the 1940′s guy right” you grow surprised “Pardon” he just smiles. You push through to the back only to see half-naked women “Sorry Loves we just want to get by” they screamed of course.
A solider turns to us but Cleo makes a rat shove it’s way into his mouth to which cause you to frown. “Ah geez now you don’t see that everyday” you watch the man squirm while the others moved on. “Now that is nasty” the man reach a hand out to you but you declined his odd muffles for help. “Sorry mate it’s more like a you problem” he still lays there until he just stop moving. You made a face “Oh my goodness that’s fucking gross” you watch the rat scurry off somewhere else. You flinch when the rat doubled back and ran pass your right shoe “Ugh, fuck no” you shiver “Y/N!” you hear Milton call out.
“That was a gross way to die” Cleo only sighs “I’m sorry if that creep you out”. “No I didn’t mean it in that way for it was unexpected” Cleo looks up at you and smiles. You can tell she is still jumping “Welp weirdo how does it feel to be here” the man only grins. “Benjamin called out to you but you never came” you glare at him and kicked him. “Y/N” Abner spoke softly “Don’t his just lying” you frown and said “Yeah, his just lying”.
“Look Abner about before I..” you were cut off “don’t worry about it we all have our ups and downs”. “For I killed my mom” you frown and by his very life you can tell he had done it for the greater good. “I know Abner and I’m truly sorry” Abner smiles and lays his head on your right shoulder. “Num Num” Nanaue says so you groaned “No, he isn’t Num Num’s” Nanaue seems disappointed.
Abner cuddles into your right side “Hey Abner” he hums “What are you gonna do once your free”. For the truth Abner doesn’t know himself “I don’t know” you smile. “You can see the rest of England with me then” Abner smiles and says “I’ll like that. Cleo came and said “Hey can I join” you smile and move over for her to join. She took your left while Abner has your right, Weirdo looks at you three before he started pondering over his own life.
“Okay so operation Harley” Rick says to each of us while we all nod.

Getting Adopted By The Survivors
Author’s Note: I’ve been rewatching the walking dead for the god knows how many times since lockdown began. I had this idea rollling around my head for a while so I wrote it down for ya’ll. How you enjoy. If this gets to 50 notes I’ll do a part 2
Grimes Family(Rick, Lori, Carl)
You were thirteen and found by Rick first
You were walking down the road, having been separated from your group by a herd just a couple days ago. He approached you on horseback, saying he was headed towards the city.
You told him not to go to the city and that it was dangerous but he wouldn’t listen and went anyway.
That evening he spotted you from the car, driving back to the camp. He got T-dog to pull over and pick you up. He brought you back to the camp where you met his family.
“I tried to warn you.” you told him. “Yeah, you did.” he chuckled and promised to help you find your group.
You left the atlanta camp with them, having nowhere else to go. You tried to keep Carl entertained when everyone was out looking for Sofia.
When Carl got shot you got upset. You tried to help around the farm or camp but everything you did just got you in more trouble. You eventually broke down, telling Lori you were sorry and you just wanted to help
Lori loving you as if you were her own. Insisting you share a tent with the grimes from day one.
Shane was especially sweet towards you from the beginning but you didn’t entertain him. You had more important things to do like help with the cooking and cleaning and babysitting Carl so that the adults could get work done.
You calling Rick “Ricky boy.” and Carl “Twerp” when he gets on your nerves. Lori calling you “sweetpea” and Carl calling you “Stinker” when you get on his nerves.
Dale
You were fifteen and Dale’s neighbour before all this. It was just you, your dad, and the family dog. When the shit started to fly Dale offered you all a place in his RV
Later on your father got bit while looking for the family dog who got away. Dale mercifully put your dad down so you didn’t have to.
You bringing Amy and Andrea back to Dale and the four of you creating your own little family unit.
Dale would show you how to fix up the RV when it acted up. You would scavenge cars for parts the could be repurposed since you were faster than Dale.
Dale giving you chores to keep you out of trouble in the camp and refusing to let you do runs into town.
You and Dale taking turns keeping watch on top of the RV.
You always being the one to look after Sofia and Carl when the adults need to go and do stuff. This leads yu into becoming the ultimate babysitter, coming up with games and chores to keep the younger kids out of trouble.
You staying behind with Dale to help look after T-Dog when everyone goes looking for Sofia.
Coming to the farm and Dale and being his little yes man/woman/person. Him calling you “Sport”, “Champ” and “Kiddo.”
When Dale was attacked by the walker you took the gun from Daryl, saying how Dale put your dad down and you should return the favour. Telling Dale your sorry for not protecting him like he had protected you.
Turning cold and inconsolable the days after his death, and only Glen and Andrea really approaching you.
Andrea(Continuation of Dale)
It was after Dale’s death. He had saved you in the begining and you were completely distraught because of it, closing yourself off from the rest of the group, only really moving between the fields and the house.
You kept up your chores around the farm and kept the RV clean. That’s what Dale would want.
You and Andrea talking about everything the two of you had gone through and you breaking down in her arms.
Her teaching you how to fire a gun. Dale wouldn’t have approved but you needed to know now.
You trying to make her see that Shane doesn’t truely care for her the same way she cared for him. She doesn’t want to see it so you don’t push.
You and her being together when the barn burns down, later meeting Michone. You beg Michone to help Andrea.
The three of you surviving the winter together, later being taken to Woodbury.
You and Andrea trying to get Michone to see that Woodbury is a good place.
You supporting Andrea in everything but her just wanting you to be a kid again.
Her calling you “Sport”, “Champ”, and “Kiddo”, like Dale used to.
Green Family(Hershal, Maggie, Beth)
You were 8 years old and Otis and Patricia’s kid. You had been living with the Green family for a while, trying to survive together quite well Hershal let you ride the horses and Maggie had you feeding the chickens. It was boring being the only kid there though.
The first time you seen a kid was when a man in a sherif uniform came in carrying a boy in his arms, saying he was shot. Hershal looked after him right away while you looked from the top of the stairs.
You give your favourite teddy bear to the mother of the shot boy, telling her that the soft toy makes you feel better when you're sick so hopefully it’ll make him feel better too.
You not liking Shane because your dad had come back every time he went out except for when he went out with Shane.
Lori picking you up and carrying you off the farm when it got taken over by walkers.
Beth and Maggie taking care of you during the 7 months on the road through the winter, singing you to sleep and telling you stories.
Herschel letting you sit in when he’s teaching Carol some basic medicine.
You and Carl didn’t get along that much cause he wanted to help the adults, not play with a little kid like you
Beth and you singing to baby judith in the Prison, always helping her take care of her when you weren’t taken up with chores and other business.
You being Hershal’s little medical assisstant, learning lots of valuable medical information and becoming a great help despite being so young
You eventually calling Hershal “Pops” after a while. Hershal calling you “Little Doc” and “trouble maker”. Beth and Maggie calling you “butthead” to get a rise out of you.
Dixon Family (Merle and Daryl)
You were ten and very good and moving through the crowds. You were too short and fast for a lot of the walkers to get a hold on you and your dad used that, making you go out to find food and supplies most of the time while he stayed holed up in your Atlanta apartment
You heard a man yell and you went to see what was going on. You found a man handcuffed to the roof with walkers trying to push the door down to get to him. He asked you to hand him the saw and you helped.
You brought Merle back to your Atlanta apartment, which your dad didn’t like so he beat you. It continued for a couple days where you’d go out and your dad would beat you for bringing back to little. One day Merle had enough and beat the shit out of your dad. The following morning your dad was gone.
You calling Merle “Mr. Merle.” and Merle calling you “kid.”
You believe everything Merle says because he swears he would never lie to you. He also teaches you how to track game in the woods. He also taught how to curse which made him laugh like crazy everytime you did.
You two getting picked up and going to Woodbury. You preferring to spend all your time with Merle instead of the other kids cause you think they’re stupid and weak and they bullied you cause you told them they were stupid and weak.
Merle and you spending all your free time at Woodbury’s library. Him reading to you. Him not minding you spending all your time with him since you reminded him so much of little Daryl. The two of you making a plan on how to escape Woodbury if it came to it.
The night the governor put Merle and his brother against each other you screamed at them to stop and cried, being held back by a woman. You cursed out the governor. When the smoke rose you grabbed a pistol off of one of the men and ran after Merle.
Staying with Merle and “Mr. Merle’s Brother” after Rick refuses to let Merle back. “You should go back with them, kid.” Merle would try to tell you. “I wanna stay with you, Mr Merle. Not that dickhead!”
Daryl became fond of you during the little time spent with just the three of you, especially how you had no fear of walkers and had no trouble letting himself and Merle know what you were thinking.
When you end up back at the prison you insist on staying outside the cell block with Merle. A woman named Carol came up to you “Are you sure you wouldn’t rather sleep in here on a proper bed?” she asked. “I ain’t repeating myself to you dumb bitch!”. The prison gang informally refers to you as Merle Jr., regardless of gender.
Williams Family (Sasha and Tyreese)
You were 9. Your parents had been part of the group but didn’t make it. Since then Tyreese and Sasha took care of you the most. They would give up their food so you could eat and Tyreese would carrying you when you got too tired to walk.
They would call you “Buddy” and “Boo”. You calling Tyreese “Reeses” because his name reminds you of the candy.
When you arrived in the prison you found yourself enamoured by Carl. He was a kid too and he was able to shoot a gun and kill walkers. You immediately went to Tyreese and begged him to teach you how to use a gun, which he would repeatedly refuse.
You being the only one that could get Sasha to calm down when she gets a little riled up.
You thought Sasha’s hair was the coolest thing in the world when it wasn’t tied down and just in one big fro. Her letting you braid it and tie it up for her, mainly to keep you busy for a while since your smaller hands needed extra time to handle her curls.
Tyreese’s girlfriend Karen referring to the two of you as ‘Big and small’
You telling them about Lizzie and how she thinks the walkers are people, so they ban you from playing with her.
You getting stuck with Tyreese and Carol after the prison falls and keeping a distance between yourself and Lizzie, becoming very protective of Judith whenever Tyreese isn’t around.
When Lizzie kills Mika, you throw yourself infront of Judith and yell at her to stay away, this prompts Carol and Tyreese to run to you. Tyreese takes you and Judith inside while Carol handles Lizzie. Tyreese consoles you while you cry, telling him how worried you were she was going to do something to Judith
At terminus when you, Judith, and Tyreese are left in the cabin with Martin. You stab Martin in the neck when he lunges for Judith. When Tyreese asks where you got the knife, you admit to taking it off of Lizzie’s corpse so you could better protect him and Judith.
Chambler Family (Tara, David, Lily, Meghann)
You were 7 and the Chambler’s were your neighbours. You went to school with Meghan so your families came together when the end came. One day your mom went out to gather supplies and never came back.
You and Meghan kept each other busy, playing games with each other, though you were louder than Meghan which made Tara give out to you a lot.
You and Meghan take turns playing backgammon with her grandfather. Later you take turns playing chess with ‘Brian’, and he teaches you two how to play against each other but you both prefer to play against him.
Lily trying her best to be a good mother figure for you, trying to keep some semblance of normalcy for you and Meghan.
When Philip takes you all to the camp you’re initially more recluse, being in another strange new situation. You find yourself clinging to Tara and her new girlfriend during this time, following them around the camp.
Tara calling you “Bubbles” cause you seem to pop up around her out of nowhere.
You being there when Meghan got attacked and running to get Lily. You silently follow her to the battlefield at the prison and watch as ‘Brian’ shoots her. You crawled into the back of one of the cars to try and escape the onslaught of bullets.
Later you see Tara leaving the prison with an asian man and run after her. She’s shocked to see you there but picks you up and takes her with you, which the man readily agrees to.
Glen pitches that they should teach you how to fire a gun so that you can defend yourself. You get plenty of opportunity on the road and by the time you find Glen’s wife your a crack shot, much to the horror of the other survivors.
You sleeping in Tara’s lap every night because she’s the only family you have left.
The Governor
You were 13 when you met him. You had been on the road on your own since your mom turned. Your aunt had refused to put her sister down and ended up being attacked. You didn’t have it in you to put them down so you left them locked in the shop.
He had been with a group and when he found out you were on your own he offered to take you back to his town. You said you’d go if he put down your mom and aunt. “I’m not strong enough to do it and they don’t deserve to be left like that.”
They agreed and you led them to the store. There they put the two woman down and took the supplies. He didn’t realise how young you actually were until you got upset at the sight of your mother but he already promised to take you back and there was lots of supplies at the shop.
You becoming a Mini Governor to the kids of Woodbury and rallying the ones old enough to join the army. “The governor works hard to keep you safe, it’s about time you helped!”
You being privy to all of the governor’s shady dealings.
You being introduced to Penny. Him referring to her as “Your little sister.” You being initially shocked but later being okay with it. You finding pretty hair pins and taking toys back to the governor for “When Penny gets better.”
You being able to boss around The Governor’s men as much as you want.
Andrea often being asked to keep an eye on you, but you actually being the one to keep an eye on her.
You and The Governor being left for dead then going back to Woodbury, buring it down in temper. You both survive together alone for months until he sees Meghan Chamber. Him telling you to stay put while he checks it out and to leave if he doesn’t come back.
He never comes back and you’re left alone again.
Father Gabriel
You were 14 when you went to the church. Your foster home had been over run and you were in desperate need for some spiritual help. You arrived just as he had returned from one of his walks. He said you could stay as all of god’s children deserved shelter.
You being too afraid to open the doors to let others in incase Gabriel says you can’t remain, so you sit in the back office with your hands over your ears. Every morning you go and pray for forgiveness
You being the one to run into town for supplies because you want to protect Gabriel and keep him alive.
Being apprehensive when the survivors arrive, only lowering your guard a little when Gabriel explains how he saved him.
You reading the bible and learning to quote the scripture, mainly out of boredom then anything else. You and Gabriel getting into discussions on what each passage actually means.
You learning about Gabriel sneaking out of the church but not telling the other survivors. “If we need to get away from them it’ll be good to have,” you admitted.
You and Gabriel often talking about what the lord thinks of your actions, ultimately not being able to comfort each other much.
You often defend Gabriel infront of the other survivors, not letting them get away with speaking any kind of ill towards him.
You only really disagree with Gabriel when he sells out the group to Deanna. This leads to you two having a big argument, him defending that Rick’s group are murderers and you defending that they have kept you safe. You ultimately lose your loyalty to him and stick with Rick’s group for a while.
When a herd surrounds Alexandria you reunite with Gabriel. You both beg the other for forgiveness. “You were a father to me when you didn’t need to be and I-” you began, your voice breaking. Gabriel held you close. “What matters is that we are together now, my child.”
Gabriel asking for your help to assist Rick in clearing out the walkers and you jumping to his side. The two of you drawing strength from each other.

Ranking the best The 39 Clues books(First season because the other ones just aren't canon in my mind).
SPOILER ALERT!
If you're a Clue Hunter and is reading this post, when you finish it reblog it and do your ranking of The First Season books(please I need to know I'm not alone on this fandom)(Please someone tell me I didn't get to this fandom too late). Also this is only my opinion. If you think different feel free to share your thoughts(respectly). So let's go:
My Personal Favorites:
10-Beyond The Grave(Book Four written by Jude Watson):
Honestly this book is overall good and I really wanted to go Egypt but that's only in this place because Ian and Natalie don't show up in person, they're only mentioned by Amy and Dan sometimes. It may seem like a stupid reason but Ian and Natalie were the biggest enemies of Amy and Dan, arch-enemies since the two understand themselves by person and their appearances have always been so iconic, the chases, the talks, the fights, the teasing so the fact they weren't in this book just didn't feel right. The Cahills and the Kabras have a lot of chemistry, both as enemies and as much something more(if you get me, lovers cough cough), and the Kabras have been sorely missed in this book(at least by me).
9-The Emperor's Code(Book Eight written by Gordon Korman):
I don't know compared to the other ones, this one just look kinda forgettable. Maybe because Amy and Dan spend a good part of this book apart. But of course the story has its good moments which are when Dan gives an autograph for a girl (D. Cahill is priceless), when Dan tells the Wizards that he is a Madrigal (as we say in Brazil: Iconic, Memorable and Timeless) (Dan was very amazing in this book, if you disagree, disagree in silence) and when Amy saves Ian(aka Love of her life) from falling off Mount Everest.
8-The Viper's Nest(Book Seven written by Peter Lerangis):
I love that one but the other ones are just better. I like the ending with Isabel(and everyone) thinking that the Clue was Diamond and It wasn't. I also like the scenes with Kurt because I wanted Ian to meet him and Kurt make Ian jealous of Amy(don't judge my dreams). Another thing that I really like is the history. I really like studying history and I learnt so much about Shaka Zulu. And was also with that book that I realized that Isabel had arrived to stay and that she would be the Main Villain in the end somehow. Maybe That's another reason why I don't like much The Emperor's Code:Isabel didn't show up and I thought she would appear in all the other books after In Too Deep. Natalie on Storm Warning said that Isabel didn't trust Ian and her to handle the Hunt without Isabel anymore since Russia so that just doesn't make sense. Maybe she didn't appearead to give Cora Wizard the spotlight but anyway let's continue.
7-The Black Circle(Book Five written by Patrick Carman):
I love this one so much. Probably because in this book we see that Ian is also in love with Amy. On Book three he seemed to like her but then he and Natalie let Amy, Dan and Alistair locked on the cave and we only see Amy Side of this story. Her sadness. But we didn't know if Ian was sorry, if he regreted his actions. And when they come back on this book we see Ian still likes Amy and the fandom goes crazy. I mean even if you are a Jamy/Carian shipper or shipps another shipp you probably shipped Amyan before because they were the only promising couple on the series(at least on series one). Back to the book I Love The Holts defeating the Kabras and Amy and Dan doing an Alliance with Hamilton(Dan envying Hamilton for driving a Kamaz will be Forever iconic). Also this book was when I realized Irina wasn't bad. I didn't like her in the other books and I didn't notice much of her but everything changed on this book and I started to love her. * sad sigh * Moving on!
6-The Maze of Bones(Book One written by Rick Riordan):
Uncle Rick(we call him like that on Brazil, in portuguese is Tio Rick) did a really great job on this one. For a series that has several authors writing, the beginning is very important and it is a great responsibility for the first author because those who will write later have to understand what you wanted to convey in the beginning to make a coherent continuation. Rick Riordan did it flawlessly. We can identify ourselves in the characters and we get really connected to the plot, the history, the riddles about Benjamin Franklin and after finishing the book we wanna know more about what happens next. So Rick Riordan absolutely slayed this introduction and no one can tell me otherwise.
5-One False Note(Book Two written by Gordon Korman):
This book is just unforgivable. I love this with all my soul. Probably because It talks about Mozart and his history and I really love arts. Also because the writing of this book is so satisfactory and so well done. I mean I really thought Fidelio Racco was a real person. What I also love about that book is the fact that every character get to shine. Amy and Dan are the Main characters but the appearences of all the other characters are really remarkable so yeah That's it. Deserves this spot on the Top 5 for sure.
4-In Too Deep(Book Six written by Jude Watson):
Going now to the four horsemen of the apocalypse from the best books of The 39 Clues. In Too Deep It's just something so perfect It's inexplicable. Something I don't like much about In Too Deep is that when Isabel was fighting to Irina and Ian and Natalie were watching Natalie was like:Irina is going to get Shoot on the head, That's gonna be so good. Like she wanted Isabel to do this, like she would be disappointed if she didn't, like she was used to seeing this type of thing. Then, In Storm Warning she was soft like:Not blood. It's so repulsive(several authors series problem but the series is good anyway). About that book I love the start, I love the middle, I love the apex and If It wasn't for Irina's death in the end this would probably be even higher than already is. Why Irina, Jude? Also:Why Pony? Why Erasmus? Why McIntyre? Why Alistair? Why Lester? Why Natalie? Why Evan? Why everyone? Why not Jake or Cara? Back to the story Jude Watson is Just a genius for transforming a dream(or a nightmare) in Isabel Kabra and adding her to the book. I don't wanna cry today so I'm just going for the next one.
3-The Sword Thief(Book Three written by Peter Lerangis):
If this book was a part The Plastics of Mean Girls, The Sword Thief would be Karen Smith of The 39 Clues, because let's face it:Amy and Dan were really dumb of accepting an alliance with Alistair and the Kabras. Principally with the Kabras. I mean they already were kinda used to temporary alliances with Alistair but not Ian and Natalie but they should have expected that It would have been bad on the end. I mean yes they needed Ian's coin to open the cave to find the clue but they look so surprised when Ian and Natalie leaves them on the cave and they shouldn't because that was obvious that they were going to betray them in the final. So they should have accepted the alliance but being more distant to the Kabras and preparing themselves in case they try something(which was obvious they would). But at the same time, I'm glad they didn't because AMYAN IS JUST MY ENTIRE LIFE(And even a little bit of Danatalie this book is Just a masterpiece). Just like In Too Deep, I love everything about that book, except the end. And I am a Kpop fan(not the cringe obssessed type) and I really like to study about North and South Korea and their history but South Korea's caves just left me depressed. I'm gonna cry so let's change the subject.
2-Storm Warning(Book Nine written by Linda Sue Park):
I love everything about this book. Literally everything. The start, the middle, the apex and the end. I love this book mainly because Natalie got the spotlight that she deserved. I don't know why I like Natalie so much since the start. Maybe because when I started Reading the books I was eleven, just like her. And Maybe because she was pretty, rich, savage and sassy wich I always wanted to be. But there is something more that I don't know how to explain that is really relatable about Natalie even with my reality being too different from hers and this book was the confirmation I needed that Natalie would be my favorite character Forever. I Also like it because it happened on Bahamas and Jamaica(two places I really want to go in the future) and It got a lot of revelations and twists in the end(wich I love more than everything on a book). If Storm Warning was a person and slapped my face I would probably say:Thanks, Could you do that again?
1-Into The Gauntlet(Book Ten written by Margaret Peterson Haddix):
I usually don't like the endings of books because I'm sad that it's over and as all the other books were good I usually demand a lot from the endings, even more than the beginnings (for me the final impression is the one that stays, not the first). I generally like the endings but I've never looked at a ending book and said: This one overcomes all the other books. I normally like more the start or the middle books. But man Into The Gauntlet caught me off guard. DoD is already a trash ending, comparing to Into The Gauntlet, DoD(fanfiction-forced-canon) seems even worse(if That's even possible). Everything about that book It's just top-notch, high quality, god tier, flawlessly perfect. Stan Haddix. We believe in Into The Gauntlet Supremacy.
It's going to have a part 2. Bye.

This is Love
- The one where Y/n is left at the altar and has a hard time dealing with her emotions
Part 1
Part 2
Masterlist
-
At this point, Harry and Y/n are practically living together.
And it’s not like they’re together… they’re just together, all the time.
Y/n wishes she could say that it’s because he distracts her from her break up with Rick, but she can honestly say she’s moved on and has been for quite some time now. She can’t change what happened at the wedding and she can’t keep blaming herself for things beyond her control. When Rick left her, he left her for a reason — they just weren’t meant to be.
Looking back at it now, Rick and Y/n’s relationship was everything but passionate. They loved each other and depended on each other with everything they did, but it wasn’t all there. There were never mindless, habitual kisses goodbye before they left for work, or date nights full of flowers with slow dances around their kitchen.
Their love life was a schedule — there was no spontaneity, no excitement that was supposed to come naturally in every relationship. Towards the end, they really just kept each other around out of comfortability and obligation. They were loyal despite it all, it just wasn’t what either of them truly wanted.
She was just blinded to it at first and the embarrassment he caused her didn’t help much with her healing, either. But as she started spending the rest of her days with Harry, she realized what she really, truly wanted... was him.
There was never a moment her stomach didn’t dance with butterflies whenever he was around, or a moment her breath wasn’t taken away whenever she saw him for the first time — even though it never really was the first time, considering she’s always with him.
Harry gives her a new adventure every day — a new reason to get out of bed each morning, a new memory she knows she’ll spend the rest of her life living by. And unlike anything else she ever had with Rick, Y/n lived every single day without getting her feelings hurt.
Harry is her person. There’s no if’s or but’s about it — she belongs with him. He’s the answer to all her questions. He’s the light at the end of every dark tunnel she goes through. He’s where she ends up even when she doesn’t know where she’s going. He’s the one that finds her when she’s lost and the one that keeps her steady when the world is spinning at her feet.
And it was so difficult for her to understand for a while, because how does someone go from being a bride at an altar for one man, to falling in love with another just a few months after?
It had been so difficult for her since the start — since the night Harry scowled and yelled at her from waking him up in the middle of the night. Since the night Y/n got shitfaced at the bar and realized she didn’t want to spend yet another night without him. Since she kissed him on her couch that night, like her life depended on it.
Because it did. Because he was the rest of her life, even if she didn’t know it yet — even if she didn’t accept it because moving on was just so wrong at the time.
But it all makes sense, now, three months after their first (and only) kiss and five months since Rick left Y/n. All the broken paths and all the burned bridges had led her to where she is now, sitting across from Harry at his kitchen table, admiring the view of him writing down lyrics for a song he’s been working on — his lips pursed, eyebrows furrowed, fingers twiddling with the pen he’s been chewing on all night.
She has the side of her head resting in the palm of her hand as she tucks her bottom lip between her teeth because he just looks so damn good in his red knitted sweater, and she doesn’t want to keep doing the same dance they have been since the beginning. She doesn’t want to be just his friend anymore, she really fucking doesn’t.
But she respected that Harry needed to make sure that if they ever did become anything, she had to be completely over Rick. He can’t stand the thought of being the rebound, especially since he’s been worshiping Y/n at her feet since the moment she moved into her apartment.
He also doesn’t want to be that guy — the guy who sweeps women off their feet when they’re in their most vulnerable moments. Because, to be fair, Y/n definitely wasn’t in her right state of mind after Rick had called off the wedding. Emotionally, she just wasn’t ready to be with anybody but her own self, and he didn’t want to settle for something her heart wasn’t all in for.
Because his heart is all in. He’ll wait forever and a day if he has to because she is so worth it. Nothing can ever really feel wrong with the right person. And although it’s really hard for him to call Y/n anything but his girlfriend, he doesn’t mind spending his days alongside hers, watching her grow into a more beautiful and strong woman with every day that passes.
But Y/n can’t wait any longer because she doesn’t care about Rick, or that stupid fucking wedding, or the idea of spending her life with anybody but Harry. She doesn’t even think of anybody but him — she doesn’t even want to.
She’ll cry, she’ll beg, she’ll get on her knees if that’s what it takes for him to believe she just doesn’t care anymore. She doesn’t care about her life before Harry because Harry is her life — he defines everything, he’s what she wants to hold so close and never let go of. She doesn’t even understand how she’s ever loved anybody but him.
She doesn’t even think she ever truly has.
He is all she wants. All she wants is to live her life in his arms and die in his arms and if it were up to her, she’d be leaning over this very table to kiss those oh, so chapped and bitten lips that she’s been craving for far too long now.
And she’s biting even further down on the side of her bottom lip, eyes unblinking because she doesn’t want to miss a moment — not when he’s all she can ever see.
“Enjoying the view there, love?” Harry teases, eyes still trained on the notebook in front of him as he now sips on his cup of tea. And he’s got this stupid smirk on his face that makes Y/n’s knees shake beneath her.
It wasn’t hard to notice that Y/n had been making eyes at him across the table all night, especially when she’s barely four feet away from where he sits. But he liked it — he liked it a lot — probably more than he should have, and he didn’t want to ruin the moment by opening his stupid mouth.
But she had been staring at him for far too long for him to not say anything about it. Quite frankly, it was making him a tad bit nervous because who doesn’t get nervous and intimidated when the person they love hawks over their every move?
She doesn’t answer because she finds it quite amusing — to leave him hanging and wondering what she could possibly be dreaming about. She wonders how long it’ll take him to realize that the only thing she ever thinks about is him.
He still doesn’t look in her direction and Y/n doesn’t know whether it makes her heart sad or if it makes her want him even more.
“You know, a picture would last a lot long—“
“I love you.”
Well, Y/n thinks, so much for keeping him guessing.
But it just came out without much warning — that’s the kind of effect he has on her. He makes her feel so much that it’s almost unreal, and it’s so strong Y/n can’t even control herself in the midst of her emotions.
But getting her feelings out so suddenly and unexpectedly is well worth it when she sees Harry choke on his tea, dropping the mug from his hand as everything spills and falls upon the table below him.
He stands so haphazardly from his seat, his chair hitting the ground behind him and Y/n’s near tears at how cute it all is.
I mean, even though it’s an actual fucking disaster, it’s all so beautiful because she knows just how much Harry loves her back.
“What—” Harry gulps, eyes wide and jaw shaking upon the very words he’s been dying to hear her say for months now. “What did you just say?”
It’s not that he didn’t hear her, it’s more so that he’s so overwhelmed that he just doesn’t believe it. It almost feels too good to be true… and he just wants to hear her say it over, and over, and over again until it’s all he can hear and all he can breathe.
Hes dreamt about this moment since the second he laid eyes in her. He never believed in love at first sight until he saw Y/n. From the start, he knew she was what he always wanted and what he’d been waiting his entire life for.
And just to hear her say it — just to know she feels it is making his heart all swollen and full. And every fiber in his body longs to believe that this is the start to their forever.
Y/n giggles with a soft blush on her cheeks, standing up from her own chair so that she can love all over him — the way she’s been longing to for months now.
She hums softly as she hooks her arms around the back of his neck, nearly hanging on him and she doesn’t even care how pathetic she’s coming off. She just wants Harry and everything that comes with him. Everything she could have ever wanted and everything she didn’t know she needed is right in front of her.
Her entire world is — quite literally — in her arms and she doesn’t even think about the possibility of ever letting it go.
“I love you so much, Harry Styles.” She gives him the most heartwarming smile he’s ever seen. “More than I could ever say.”
Her fingers are tangled at the roots of his hair and Harry’s eyes nearly roll to the back of his head from the feel of her so close, from the words she speaks so effortlessly, from the way she’s touching him just right.
His hands are all over her sides, the back of his head against the wall while he tries all he can to not shed tears that could possibly ruin the serenity of this moment.
“I love you so fuckin’ much.” Harry whimpers, pulling her even more against his chest like it was even possible. “More than anythin’. I’m never letting y’go. I promise.”
-
Harry and Y/n are all snuggled up on her couch — Harry laying flat on his back while Y/n is on her stomach, her chest against his while her head nests right below his chin.
Their Friday nights always end up like this, especially now that they’re officially together and they always want to be as close as they possibly can. They both have off on Fridays and they’re always so tired from the past week that they don’t want to do anything besides cuddle on her couch and watch romantic comedies together.
Usually on nights like this, they both exchange little back massages and almost always end up making love before they fall asleep pressed all up against each other. It’s their most casual and relaxed night but honestly, Y/n wouldn’t have it any other way.
He always goes above and beyond on their little Friday tradition and with every week that passes, she questions how she had gotten so lucky to call Harry her boyfriend. The coffee table is always decorated with candles and a new bottle of wine, a fresh bowl of popcorn in the middle for them to share and her favorite candies sprawled throughout the mix.
It’s the small, thoughtful things he does that makes her realize what she’d been deserving of her whole life. Nobody has ever given Y/n half as much as Harry has, and nobody has ever put her first in anything they’ve done.
He really always puts her feelings and happiness before his. Even in the smallest, stupidest of things. Like their movie nights when Harry only buys her favorite candies and claims he doesn’t mind because he likes all of them, too, even though they both know he’s lying. He can’t stand her raisinet obsession or her unusual love for snow caps, yet he always sucks it up with nothing short of a smile on his face.
And as her body lays against his like it doesn’t belong anywhere else, she really couldn’t ask for anything more. She has her whole world at her fingertips every single day, and all she’s ever desired is held tightly in her arms and she genuinely can’t wait until the day they grow old together.
They’re on their second movie of the night when they hear a soft knock against Y/n’s door.
“What?” Y/n sits up from where she laid across Harry because something about that knock just doesn’t feel right. It makes her stomach twist and her blood run cold because there’s genuinely no reason that anybody should be stopping by.
Harry notices the worry spread across her face and doesn’t hesitate to pause the television, placing his elbow against the arm of the couch and lifting himself up so he can face her front door, which shakes when the unknown visitor knocks against it again.
He turns back to look at her, a small frown stretching on his face because she just looks so uneasy and unsure. And even though he’s almost certain it’s nothing, he would do anything just to reassure her that no matter what and who is waiting outside that door, she’ll be okay.
“You stay here, alright? I’ll get it.”
He starts to get up from his spot on the couch until Y/n grabs a hold of his cheeks. And before he can ask her what she’s doing, she places the softest, most gentle of kisses upon his lips.
“Just in case you die.” She whispers.
He rolls his eyes with a soft chuckle, shaking his head softly before nudging her nose with his.
“Silly girl. I won’t die. Got a lot to live for, y’know.” He sends her that damn smirk that never fails to make her weak before pressing another kiss to her lips. “Just stay here. Sure it’s nothin’.”
He taps on her hip softly before making his way to her front door. Y/n brings the blanket they were just sharing up to her chin as she sits upon the cushions, watching Harry’s every move because she’s genuinely concerned about this god-awful feeling in her stomach.
And even though Harry told Y/n he wouldn’t die from it, what is awaiting for her outside her small apartment door makes him feel like a part of him just might.
“Rick.” Harry speaks his name like it’s toxic on his tongue — jaw clenched and shoulders tight because anything can happen now… and he had no preparation for this moment.
He takes a step to where Rick stands before slamming the door shut behind him, and Rick nearly stumbles backward so Harry doesn’t knock him down. And Harry doesn’t even care if he does, all he’s worried about is Y/n seeing her ex-fiancé at her — what used to be their — apartment with sadness and regret in his eyes.
“Harry?”
Rick has to look behind him to make sure he isn’t at the wrong apartment, but he can’t say he didn’t expect this. He just didn’t expect it so soon.
It wasn’t hard to catch Harry’s lingering stares at Y/n whenever they saw each other in the hall, or the way his eyes lit up whenever she gave him the slightest bit of her attention. Rick noticed even the smallest of things whenever he was with her, and Harry was always utter shit at hiding his feelings for Y/n.
But really? All Rick wanted was to get his girl back because he just misses her so much it hurts, but now he’s got Harry to get past and he’s not even sure what the hell he’s doing with Y/n in their apartment.
“What the hell are you doing here?!”
It’s taking everything in Harry to hold himself back from beating the living shit out of him. He had to watch his girlfriend fall apart just to pick up her own pieces, nearly collapse from her exhaustion and break down in his arms until there was absolutely nothing left of her, all because of Rick — all because he made her feel so unworthy of love, when that’s all Y/n ever deserved.
Rick dragged Y/n to hell and back with his bare fucking hands and all Harry wants to do is do the same to him. All he can think about is making him feel just as hurt and broken as Y/n did until he’s on the ground begging for mercy.
But he can’t do that to Y/n. He would never be able to forgive himself if Y/n couldn’t sleep at peace over something he did, and he doesn’t want her to be afraid of him when he’s supposed to protect her and keep her safe.
“I should be askin’ you the same question.” Harry seeths through his teeth, his arms folding over his chest to hold himself together.
Rick’s hands turn to fists at his sides and his nose scrunches, having half the mind to knock Harry dead for even thinking of getting in his way of Y/n.
It’s only been five months and Y/n’s already found someone else to keep her happy. It breaks his heart more than he could have ever imagined and it makes him want to take it out on all the wrong people.
Though Rick wants to destroy everything and everyone on his path, the reality is that he’s more angry at himself than he is at anybody else — even Harry.
But Rick would never admit that. He’d never admit that he walked in on Poppy sleeping with her boss in their shared bedroom, and he’d never admit that that’s all it took for him to realize letting go of Y/n was the biggest mistake of his life.
Y/n’s a lover and a loyal one at that. When she falls, she falls all in — and when she loves, she loves with every bone in her body.
Rick always admired it and always felt like he deserved someone that always provided for him. Y/n never hesitated to do so, even when he failed to do his part in return. And he’s never met anybody so completely invested the way Y/n is in her relationships.
And he wouldn’t have minded her moving on if it just wasn’t so soon — like he meant nothing, like the wedding meant nothing, when it still means everything to him and should still mean everything to her.
And knowing that she’s possibly living her life so happily alongside someone else makes him sick to his stomach. Because she’d never have eyes for anybody but her lover. Rick just hopes he’s still hers, somewhere buried deep inside.
“I’m here for Y/n. And since this is my apartment,” He locks his face in a permanent scowl, “I’ll be making my way.”
Rick bumps into Harry’s shoulder as he tries to reach his hand over to the door handle, but his attempts don’t get very far when Harry pushes his arm away. “Yeah, no. That’s not happening.”
Rick lets out a breathy and daring laugh, placing his hands on his hips with his eyebrows so high up on his forehead, Harry is convinced his face is going to fall off.
“Oh, yeah? And why is that?”
He’s challenging him and it doesn’t sit right with Harry. He’d really love to play his game under any other circumstance. He could give Rick a list of reasons as to why he won’t be going anywhere near Y/n any time soon — he could really spend the whole night going through it — but it’s only a matter of time before Y/n comes wandering out here asking questions, and all he wants is to get Rick as far away from here as possible as quickly has possible.
“Because this is not your apartment! It stopped being your apartment when you left Y/n at your wedding for someone else like she wasn’t worthy enough to be your first choice! All you’ve ever done is hurt her and I am not—“ Harry lifts his finger up as he exhales strongly through his flared nose. “I refuse to watch my girlfriend cry.”
And there it is, the sure confirmation that Y/n and Harry and in fact dating and not just fooling around or sleeping together.
And Rick’s mouth tastes foul when he hears another man calling Y/n his girlfriend. It’s not right — that title had belonged to him for so long it leaves him with nothing left to say, or nothing left to do, than just stand here and think of how easy it was for her to move on.
Harry’s just about to open that door back up and lock Rick out for the rest of the night, until he gives up on the idea of him and Y/n and goes back to wherever the hell he came from.
But before he can make any move to do so, the front door opens behind him and he shuts his eyes softly because he all he wanted to do was avoid the situation Y/n just put herself into.
“Bubbas, is everything alri—”
Y/n’s entire world stops spinning when she sees Rick standing not even three feet away from her. She swears the wind is knocked right out of her lungs and she feels like the universe just gave her one big slap to the face.
And it’s that look Y/n has on her face that shakes Harry’s soul, and is the exact fucking reason he tried everything he could to not let Rick get to her. Because he knows this can’t be easy — he knows that seeing him after the wedding is going to make her all confused and doubtful of every decision she’s made.
And it’s not easy for Harry, either, because what if she doubts her decision to be with him? What if seeing Rick reminds her of just how much she loved him and now, wants to rekindle all that was broken and bruised just to make it right again?
Harry knows Y/n loves him with every piece of her being, but seeing an ex makes everything so much harder — especially when she planned on spending the rest of her life with this man.
“Y/n.” Rick nearly cries, taking a step closer to the doorway so he can reach for the hand that looks so terribly bare without her engagement ring. “You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.”
The moment she feels Rick’s fingers graze her hand, she pulls away just as fast. Her brain still hasn’t processed a thing — still just blinking with wide eyes and furrowed eyebrows — but all she knows is that she doesn’t even want him touching her.
Harry feels somewhat relieved by it, but he’s still unsure of what’s to come. All he knows is that if Y/n runs back to Rick, he really has to move out of this apartment and give up on everything he’s ever known. And never show his face around here again.
“Come on, Y/n. Please, just hear me out.”
Rick is so desperate it’s honestly painful to watch. And Rick is never one to showcase his emotions so easily.
It takes a lot for him to fight for something he loves and admit that he was in the wrong. Because Rick was always right — at least that’s how he felt — and to own up to his mistakes is such an unfamiliar side of him that Y/n genuinely doesn’t know what to do.
But when she watches his eyes fill with tears and his lips begin to quiver as he attempts to gather his feelings, she has to do everything she can not to laugh.
And it’s not a spiteful laugh, or a laugh to rub more dirt on his wounds, that she feels so compelled to get out. No… she really just finds this entire situation so incredibly funny.
He’s really just wasting so much of his time and he’s so oblivious to it. Clearly, things didn’t work out between him and Poppy, so now he’s just crawling into the arms of the first woman he could think of.
That’s a side of Rick Y/n is familiar with.
And he really, truly thought Y/n would be waiting on her hands and knees for his return. Sure, she was at some point in her life, but certainly not now. Because now, the only thing she’s waiting for is Harry to go on his knee and ask to take her hand in marriage.
And Rick’s just standing here, grabbing at desperate attempts to win over her heart as if it doesn’t belong to anybody else. Which is just so damn funny to her, because all she could ever want is standing right beside her and Rick really thinks he stands a chance after everything he’s done.
And fuck, she really has to tuck her lips between her teeth because she can hardly keep it all in.
“I should have married you, alright? I fucked up. I fucked up so bad.”
Rick is near sobs and Harry feels his heart plummet to the pit of his stomach. He’s got a frown so deep on his face because he genuinely wouldn’t know what to do if Y/n went crawling back to Rick tonight.
He legitimately feels like he’s in the middle of his own worst nightmare and he swears his world is rumbling at his own two feet.
“I’ve had so much I’ve wanted to say to you, yet I couldn’t find the right words. All I ever see is you, everywhere I go. I close my eyes and I think of how beautiful and stunning you looked at our wedding and I just — I go crazy knowing I let it all go. You’re the only woman I want and the only woman I need… and if you could just please find it in your heart to — wait, are you laughing?”
Shit, Y/n thinks, what is it with me and blowing all my covers?
Harry can hardly believe the sight of Y/n giggling in the doorway, her hand over her mouth as if trying to stop herself from doing so — but that’s all he sees.
And Y/n can’t stop. She really, really can’t because everything he’s saying is just a ploy to take full advantage of her and she really can’t believe Rick thinks she could ever be so stupid.
Yeah, let me just leave my person behind and take back the man who left me at the altar for his best friend. That just makes perfect beyond perfect sense.
And Rick is absolutely losing it — watching her mock and belittle his feelings like this. It’s humiliating and dragging his self-esteem through the dirt and she doesn’t even realize just how much she’s breaking his heart.
Watching her put her hand on Harry’s shoulder, too — as if asking him if he can actually believe what he’s hearing — isn’t making this any easier and he’s going absolutely mental at the sight of it.
“God damnit, Y/n!” Rick slams the side of his fist against the frame that’s closest to her face and Harry is quick to put his hand defensively against Y/n’s stomach. “I’m really trying here! Why do you have to be such a coldhearted bitch?!”
And now… that’s just too far. Declaring his love and regrets to Y/n is one thing — despite how anxiety inducing and disrespectful it all was — but having to listen to Rick degrade her right in front of him is something Harry just can’t and won’t tolerate.
“Excuse me?!” Harry spits, his palms twitching at their urge to rip him apart from the inside out. “What did you just call my girlfriend?!”
And it’s the small things like that — Harry defending her in everything like he can’t think of one bad thing Y/n actually is, so unconditionally and naturally — that makes this entire situation so easy on her.
She’s sure Harry feels somewhat threatened by it all. She really couldn’t imagine the thought of one of Harry’s exes trying to win him back with Y/n standing right there to watch it all happen — she knows she’d go absolutely insane.
And Y/n feels like she should feel some type of way about Rick coming back, but she doesn’t. His return only reminds her that she hasn’t lost anything at all if she still has Harry by her side — that she could never be more in love even if she tried.
And she can tell Harry is really trying to keep himself together and not put his hands on Rick for the words he just spoke, so she does the only thing she can think of.
She grabs ahold of Harry’s hand and slightly pulls him back to give some distance between the two, and refuses to let go of his hand once he’s steady beside her. He needs reassurance more than anything right now, and she’d never be able to live with herself if she made Harry doubt himself for even a second.
“I appreciate the kind words, Rick.” Y/n offers him a small smile, and Harry’s not so sure if she’s being sarcastic from him calling her a bitch or referring to the apology he made right before. “But I’m with Harry now.”
Rick looks so devastated and torn up at the rejection but Y/n couldn’t feel bad for him even if she wanted to.
“Please, Y/n.” Rick is on the verge of begging now. “I love you so much. We’re soulmates, baby. You have to believe me when I say I made the worst mistake of my life walking away from you. I thought this is what you wanted.”
Now, what she once thought was so funny is shaking her to the bone and filling her with a kind of anger she didn’t even know she was capable of.
Y/n shakes her head, pursing her lips together because clearly, Rick just isn’t going to let this go — no matter how excruciatingly obvious it is that Y/n doesn’t want him anymore.
“We’re not soulmates.” Y/n says the word with a scrunched face like it’s the most toxic statement in the world, because they are definitely, most certainly not anything close to it.
“Please don’t come to my doorstep and belittle my relationship in front of my boyfriend. It was your decision to leave me for Poppy, and whatever happened between the two of you doesn’t give you permission to ruin my night and sabotage my relationship. And I don’t want anything other than to go back into my apartment and spend the rest of my night with Harry — my actual soulmate — without you knocking on this door ever again.”
And if Harry had any remaining doubts about how the rest of this night will go, Y/n sure as hell took them all away from him.
He’s at a loss for words, really. Because when Harry first became close with Y/n, her entire life revolved around Rick. Everything she did was about their separation and he made her lose all direction. That’s why this night could have ended either way — because maybe, just maybe, Y/n was still holding onto him in some way.
But now, Y/n is standing against him without a blink of her eye. She’s pushing him away without any hesitation and pulling Harry so much closer to her — physically and emotionally.
He really is her first choice, Harry comes to realize. He really is the love of her life and her soulmate and everything else in between. He’s doing right by her, and giving her a kind of happiness that seems, quite literally, irreplaceable.
“Baby, please. I’m sorry. Please just take me back.”
He’s full on sobbing and begging and nearly falling to his knees because he can’t lose her again — he can’t lose anybody else and be all alone without a hand to hold.
“No, I’m good. Thanks though.”
And before Rick can reach for her any more, or say much of anything else, Y/n pulls Harry to where she’s standing behind the door frame and slams the door shut in Rick’s face.
She locks and deadbolts the door as quickly as she can while Harry just stands there, watching whatever her next move will be and in too much shock to move a single muscle.
Y/n sighs loudly, rolling her eyes as she turns herself around to where Harry’s standing. What a fucking burden, she thinks.
“Well, now that that’s over.” Y/n says nonchalantly with a scoff on her face. “Let’s snuggle back up and finish the movie, yeah? I’m feeling extra needy for you right now.”
She reaches her hands out to Harry’s frame, her fingers bending back and forth as if trying to get ahold of him. And to say that Harry’s heart is full is a complete understatement… his heart is exploding.
She just looks so cute with a playful pout on her lips when she waits too long for him to reach out to her. And even though he still can’t grasp everything that just happened, he intertwines her hand with his.
“You chose me.” Harry says breathlessly, eyes looking up and down her body and his mouth watering knowing that every part of her is his, and nobody else’s. All fucking his. “And you laughed at him.”
Y/n giggles with a small squeal at the end, pulling him closer to her and squeezing onto his hands.
He feels a bit guilty that he feels this way— so relieved and utterly surprised — because she should have never made him doubt their relationship in the first place. But she knows she can’t put all the blame onto herself, he would have never felt the need to if Rick didn’t come crawling back and make his relationship with Harry seem like it was heaven sent.
She knows he was just nervous and insecure because Rick really did do a number on her and Harry was the one to fix up the mess. And at one point, Rick was her first choice.
But Harry was never just a distraction, or someone she took advantage of in her time of heartbreak. Harry was always hers and always in control of her heart, and she’ll do anything to never make him forget it.
“Of course I chose you, bubs.” She blushes, sending him a reassuring smile and eyes full of her love. “I’ll always choose you. All there is, is you.”
He’s got tears in his eyes and a quiver in his lips that Y/n doesn’t hesitate to kiss away. Their lips fit perfectly together and never failed to leave each other breathless.
This is love. This is where Y/n was destined to be and what she was made for. Nobody could ever sway her to feel differently — nobody could ever come between it. They’re completely and utterly inseparable.
When they pull away from their little mini makeout session, Harry’s got her favorite smirk on his lips and a soft chuckle falling from his mouth.
“Was kind of funny, wasn’t it? To think he could ever take you from me. Would’ve been dead before he even had the chance to.”
Ah, that overprotectiveness and jealousy that sends Y/n into a frenzy. She would do the exact same thing if she had to — kill another woman with her bare hands for even trying to take her Harry.
Because their love makes them crazy… so unexplainably crazy, and they just can’t get enough of each other. Without one another, Y/n and Harry are just skin and bone with no matter holding their pieces together.
They complete each other entirely.
Y/n hums. “Funniest shit I’ve ever heard. He really thought I’d leave you — you!” She speaks through the same giggle she gave to Rick whenever he spewed his feelings. “How fucking stupid.”
And whatever this feeling Harry has all over his body and extra in his chest — it’s euphoric and he feels so high, like nothing can stop him from anything when he’s got Y/n’s devotion.
He just wants to have her — all of her, pressed up against him and loving on him until his body decays and he’s got nothing left but her. He wants to burn and be alive only in her.
And she’s just too far away now, even though she’s as close as she can be. So he takes it upon himself to lift Y/n off her feet and throw her body over his shoulder.
She’s in hysterics and he realizes that her laugh is his absolute favorite sound in the world. She’s a melody, a song, a flower only for him to pick and relish in and he just wants to devour her — in every way possible.
He throws her onto the couch and Y/n’s on her back with the biggest smile on her face, and it’s the most beautiful sight he’s ever seen.
She is actually the closest to perfect anybody could ever get. Literal perfection is right at his fingertips and it’s all his.
He hovers over her with his legs tangled in hers and hands all over her body. It’s innocent and passionate touches that just fit the night so perfectly — Y/n is weak beneath him and she never wants to live without it.
Harry nearly growls against her neck.
“Oh, I am so going to marry you one day.”

Heaven Bent part 2
Daryl Dixon x female reader
Part 1
Summary: The reader finds Sophia lost in the woods, too bad neither of them have any sense of direction.
A/n: Thanks for the support on part 1! Daryl is probably the hardest character I've ever written for. I've got a lot of ideas for this fic, just hoping I stay motivated. Thanks @ewokiee for all the help especially when I’m stuck!
You groaned, rolling over to your side and snuggling further into the covers. This had to be the softest bed in the world, with fluffy plush pillows stuffed with down feathers under your head and a thick warm blanket draped over your body. You wanted nothing more than to stay here and never leave. God, this was a million times better than cold nights sleeping on the ground, this bed was heaven, absolute heaven.
However, how you got here though was still a bit foggy, the last thing you could remember was an angel with a horse coming to save you and Sophia. Maybe this truly was heaven you thought to yourself. Either way, you were better off here than you were in that forest.
You peeked an eye open as you heard the door creak. An old man with white hair stepped into the room. There was an air of wisdom and sensibility about him.
“God?” You whispered, sitting up slightly.
The man gave you a skeptical look. “You must still be delirious,” he mused. “I’m Hershel, and this is my home.”
You nodded, taking a better look around. The room was decorated nicely, a typical farmhouse interior with white trim around the doorframe and windows. Definitely a nice place though.
He walked over to the side of the bed and looked you over. “How are you feeling?”
“Better,” you answered, stretching your arms above your head.
“Good,” Hershel muttered. “When you first got here you weren’t making a lick of sense. You and that girl were in those woods for at least a week.”
“How is she?”
“She’s going to be alright. She just needs to rest,” he explained. “Most people had given up hope on finding her, my guess is she would’ve died without your help.”
You nodded, satisfied knowing Sophia was going to be okay.“That reminds me,” you started. “Where’d my angel go?”
Hershel quirked an eyebrow. “Angel?” He repeated.
“Yeah, I was saved by an angel,” you explained, trying to remember what he looked like exactly. You recalled his wings and halo, and that he didn't quite act like an angel should.
Hershel stifled a laugh, “That man is a lot of things, but I doubt he’s any kind of angel.”
“I know, but he’s an angel to me,” You looked down fiddling with the blanket on your lap, “I’d like to thank him now that I’m thinking more clearly… I can’t remember if I did when he found us.”
Hershel nodded, “If I see him, I’ll send him this way. Trish will be bringing up something for you to eat and some clean clothes.”
“Thank you,” you smiled, your eyes meeting his before he left the room.
…
In long strides, Daryl headed towards the RV, wanting to check in real quick on Sophia and Carol.
The look on everyone’s face when he returned with her and a stranger ranged from genuine surprise to shock.
Carol ran as fast as she could, meeting him at the edge of the woods. Immediately she crumbled to her knees, crying, as Daryl placed Sophie in her arms, muttering thank you over and over again.
Other than Daryl, it seemed like no one else believed that Sophia was still alive out there, and most of them had given up on finding her too.
Daryl thought back to you, back to the way you smiled at him while you were delirious, it was an image he couldn’t get out of his head. He couldn’t remember a time anyone else ever looked at him like that.
Just as the RV was in sight, Daryl could overhear voices coming from the woods nearby. Carefully, he wandered over, curious as to who was being so secretive.
Even with their voices hushed, it didn’t take Daryl long to identify who was talking. He frowned to himself listening closer, it was Rick and Shane, and from the sound of it, they were fighting over something.
“So what? We’re supposed to take in every stray we meet?” Shane argued.
“She helped one of our own,” Rick reasoned, stepping forward. “Sophia is alive because of her. We owe it to this woman.”
“We aren’t living in that kind of world anymore,” Shane insisted, gritting his teeth.
“Take a look around you,” Rick hissed. “We’re here right now because of the decency of others, we aren’t those kinds of people, we aren’t animals, we aren’t just gonna abandon her.”
Daryl huffed as Shane tried to pull that same bullshit like he did over the search for Sophia. All that survival of the fittest crap. If that really were the case, their group would only consist of him, Rick, and Shane.
“Daryl should’ve left her in those woods,” Shane spat. “We can’t afford to have another mouth to worry about.”
Daryl clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles turning white. Shane was really starting to show his true colors, a part of Daryl was beginning to think the group would be better off without that asshole.
Rick shook his head, he couldn’t believe Shane would even suggest telling that woman she had to go, to send her back out there on her own. And now this? Did he really think so little about the lives of others?
“I don’t know what your problem is, but all that shit about numbers or math or whatever ain’t right, she’s a person, a good person… She stays. End of story.”
Rick stared Shane down, making his point crystal clear. He knew the rest of the group would agree with him if it came to the point of getting the others involved. Rick had no idea what was going on inside Shane’s head, but it was sending him red flags.
Finally, Shane scoffed and stomped away, obviously still pissed off.
Sighing, Rick ran a hand over his face, he was going to need to keep a closer eye on Shane. This wasn’t the first time he’s made Rick worry. Shane was acting unpredictably lately, and some of his behavior was off the rails, there was no telling what he might do next.
Daryl started walking back the way he came, for a hot second there it seemed like things might have gotten ugly, in which he would’ve stepped in and backed Rick up.
…
You took another big bite of the apple Trish had brought up, moaning as you savored the taste, it felt like ages since you had fresh produce.
“You can take a shower in there,” Trish explained gesturing to the attached bathroom. She sat some clean clothes on the dresser for you. “Tried to find you some things in your size, hope they fit alright.”
Your eyes widened as you processed what she just said… you could take a shower? You almost wanted to celebrate over the news. Honestly, ever since waking up it felt like you had won some kind of lottery or a free vacation. You thanked her as she left the room.
The moment she was gone, you scurried out of the bed, stripping out of the dingy clothing you had been wearing for the last week. You could only imagine how terrible you smelled, surprised anyone welcomed you into such a nice home.
Turning on the faucet to the tub, you practically squealed when the water started heating up. Carefully, you removed your jewelry, setting it all down on the sink.
You couldn’t even describe the sound you made as you stepped in under the showerhead. It was a strange mix between a sigh, a laugh, and a moan.
A week’s worth of grime and dirt rinsed off your body and down the drain. You scrubbed every inch of yourself, wanting to make sure you took full advantage of this chance. Who knows if you’d be fortunate enough to meet anyone else with a working shower on your travels.
For a few extra minutes, you just stood under the running water, enjoying every second of warm water before finally getting out of the shower.
…
“Ah, there you are,” Hershel said as Daryl approached the house. The old man was sitting in a chair on the porch, keeping an eye on Rick’s group. “Our new guest was asking for you.”
Daryl narrowed his eyes, unsure what you’d want from him.
"She seems to think she and that little girl have a guardian angel looking out for them," Hershel chuckled.
Daryl scowled. "Don't know what you're talkin' 'bout," he grumbled, climbing up the steps of the porch.
Being inside the farm house made Daryl feel uncomfortable like he was too dirty or something. All his life he couldn’t remember being welcomed into a house this nice looking.
Careful not to touch anything, he started going up the stairs. He didn’t even dare to touch the white banister, worried that he was tracking in dirt on his boots.
He knocked on the door and stuffed his hands back into pockets.
“Come in,” you called, still drying your hair. You were grinning like an idiot when Daryl stepped in. “There’s my angel!” You announced.
"Will you knock it off with all that angel crap?" Daryl demanded trying his best to be intimidating and tough.
You giggled, setting the towel down, and approached him. Your eyes and smile were the same, the exact same as they had been the first time you had mistaken him for an angel. He’d never admit it out loud, but he liked it, the way that you saw him.
“Why? As far as I’m concerned you’re heaven sent. Without you, me and Sophia would’ve died out there.”
Daryl turned his head away, rubbing the back of his neck, he’d be damned if he allowed you to catch him blushing.
“Anyways, I asked for you, cause I wanted to say thank you,” you explained, reaching out and placing a hand on his shoulder, right before giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Thanks,” you murmured.
Daryl scoffed, wiping his cheek with the back of his hand. “It was nothin’.”
You shook your head, “it wasn’t nothing.”
His piercing eyes met yours and your heart practically stopped. Just as you were about to lean forward again, Daryl cleared his throat, “you oughta put on a shirt, before going out there.”
You laughed, grabbing the white tee off the dresser, you were too distracted by Daryl to realize you were only wearing pants and a bra.
He rolled his eyes and left the room closing the door behind him. As you were pulling the shirt over your head you could hear him slowly descending the stairs muttering something to himself.
…
“You mean it?” You asked Rick flabbergasted, worried you didn’t hear him right. “Are you really saying I can stay with you all?”
“I am,” Rick nodded. “As far as I’m concerned you're one of us.”
With an excited shriek, you slung your arms around his neck in a quick hug. “Thank you!”
Rick laughed and patted your back.
You were ecstatic, when he asked to speak with alone and had pulled you to the side away from everyone, you assumed he was going to tell you that you had to go. But instead you received the best news imaginable for your situation.
As you pulled away from Rick, you felt someone watching you, it made the hairs on the back of your neck stand.
Looking around you saw a man with a buzzed haircut who was stalking off, he hadn’t spoken a word to you or bothered to introduce himself, but you heard the others refer to him as Shane. His body language was very aggressive, he was definitely pissed about something.
Once he was out of sight, you rubbed your arms up and down getting rid of the goosebumps that had appeared and made a mental note to avoid that man as much as possible. Whoever he was, he was giving off some serious bad vibes and nothing good was going to come of it.
“Did he tell you!?” An excited voice screeched, snapping you out of your stupor. Two thin arms wrapped around your middle, hugging you tightly.
You laughed, “he did!”
“So that means you’re staying with us, right?” Sophia asked, practically squeezing the life out of you.
“Yep.”
Looking up from Sophia, you saw her mother standing nearby, a soft smile on her face as she watched the two of you.
You gave her a small wave, before returning Sophia’s hug.
…
You settled into a routine with the group rather quickly, helping out with whatever you could from laundry to going on runs with Glenn. They were all friendly people for the most part with the exception of Shane.
Anytime the man was around, it put you on edge even with the others around. It seemed pretty apparent that he didn’t like you much, he’d seem perfectly fine until he noticed that you were nearby. All you could hope for was that he wouldn’t try to persuade Rick to force you to leave.
You were humming a random song to yourself while hanging laundry on the clothesline. It was a good day for it, plenty of sunshine and even a nice breeze, these clothes would dry in no time.
Reaching down into the wicker basket, you pulled out a white t-shirt, as you were pinning it to the line someone grabbed your forearm.
You gasped, where the hell did Shane come from?
“Shane,” you stuttered, wrenching your arm out of his grasp. “You scared me.”
He looked down at you, his eyes full of hatred towards you. “You’re going to get us all killed.”
You furrowed your brow, “What are you talking about?”
“Don’t play dumb,” He snapped, shaking his head. “Not everyone is capable of surviving this… you’re weak…”
You shrunk back, worried that whatever you did or tried next would only set him off.
He took another step forward, “I’ll be damned if I let you risk it for the rest of us.”
Daryl's eyes narrowed as he came out of the woods. His grip on his crossbow tightening. Your body language alone was enough for him to notice that you were uncomfortable.
“Hey!” Daryl shouted. “Thought you wanted me to teach you how to skin an animal.” He held up the rabbits he just caught.
You blinked in surprise, looking at Daryl, his expression was practically murderous as he stared at Shane, who immediately backed off, taking a few steps away from you.
“Well I ain’t got all day,” Daryl complained, gesturing for you to come with him.
Finally, it dawned on you what he was doing.
“R-Right,” you squeaked, quickly shuffling away and over to Daryl. You kept your head down, still feeling Shane’s eyes on you.
“C’mon,” Daryl said, gently placing a hand on your upper back and guiding you back towards the RV.
“Thanks, Angel,” you murmured, once you believed you were far away enough that Shane couldn’t hear you.
“Don’t mention it,” he muttered, turning around and giving Shane a dirty look. The next time that asshole decides to corner you like that, Daryl was going to beat the shit out of him.
