“gotta be quiet for me, sugar” he whispered in your ear. you could feel his rough hands going up and down your legs making you shiver and sigh in delight. your eyes were closed, your back against the wall as you held onto his shoulders for support. “that’s it, baby” your soft legs wrapped around his waist, letting him in again.

Getaway Pt. 1
Summary: There’s been tension on the farm ever since a group joined you and your family. Your father doesn’t like the fact they’ve given him more mouths to feed and look out for. However, your tension was for a slightly different reason; Rick. Once you both finally acknowledge that tension, the two of you cannot find getaway.
Warnings: afab!reader, age gap (reader 24, rick 39), secret relationship, forbidden love, hyperfeminine reader, groping, Rick getting frustrated, almost caught, thigh riding, jerking off, quickies, virgin reader, kinda perv Rick
I was planting some flowers off to the side of the house when I felt a presence above me, I look up and see Rick. “Hi” I wave.
He gives me that soft smile and leans down with me, “whatcha doing?”
“M’ planting daisies” I cover the seeds with soil as I speak with him. “Why?” His question caught me off guard.
“Why? Because they’re pretty, and it’s what you do in the summer” I give him a slight head shake indicating I didn’t understand his question.
“Why not use your time planting something useful? Like food” he helps me with my gardening even though he protests.
“We had some flower seeds left and I thought: why not? It’s nice to have something pretty to look at” I shrug.
“That’s true” he looks at me, his hand brushed against mine as we finished the planting.
Later on that night, Carol and Lori cooked us dinner to show their gratitude. I thought the gesture was completely sincere but my father was still holding a slight grudge.
“The foods amazing” I break the terrible silence.
Carol smiles sweetly and Lori gives me a nod. I hadn’t interacted with Lori much as she was always off doing something. All I do know is that her and Rick are separated because of another member of their group: Shane.
Eventually the awkward dinner is over and I go upstairs to wash up for bed. Rick and his group set up camp outside so I never saw him at night. I brush my teeth and put on my floral nightgown, it was one of the few I had. I decided to head downstairs for a glass of water and I unexpectedly find Rick standing in the kitchen.
His eyes found me, his mouth quirks up in a grin and now I’m really embarrassed. “What’re doing here?” I question him.
“Me and your father were discussing plans about my groups future” his hands were resting on his belt buckle.
“Oh, then where is my father?” I squint, his story doesn’t quite add up.
“He went out to his shed to find a few maps, said he let me have them” Rick tilts his head, “you think I’m lying?”
I shake my head, “not anymore…”
He takes a step closer and I back into the kitchen counter, “you really like flowers don’t you?”
“Uh huh” my mouth went dry, Rick took a hand and messed with my nightgown.
“Very pretty” he tucks a strand of hair behind my ear.
“Thank you” my eyes were big and innocent.
“Can I touch?” He wasn’t really asking because then his hands went to my shoulders, then down to my breasts, he squeezed slightly.
“Rick we can’t” I huff.
“Who says?” He shrugs, “there’s no rules anymore, only secrets”
I hesitantly nod, “I’ve never done this before, I haven’t gotten this far.”
It was embarrassing but the apocalypse kind of got in the way of any social life.
“It’ll feel good I promise, but we gotta keep it a secret baby, just you and me” his southern accent was getting thicker.
Rick pulled up my nightgown, revealing my underwear, “cute panties too?”
I giggle, “maybe”
He finally kisses me, it was so sweet and hot. His tongue between my lips, I let him take the lead.
Then the floorboard creeks.
We immediately break apart and Rick steps back. It was my father.
“I could only find a few, I had much more- y/n what’re you doing down here?” My father finally looks up from the varied maps.
“I was thirsty” Rick glances at me but I don’t look back, I don’t wanna seem obvious.
“That’s fine but could you give me and Rick some privacy when you’re done?” He smiles and ruffles my hair.
“Yes” I roll my eyes playfully. I get my long awaited water and head back up to my room.
Rick knew he couldn’t just go upstairs once he and my father were done talking, so I presumed he went back to camp with the others.
The next morning I tried very hard to keep my face at a normal color but I could only think about the fact that Rick lifted up my nightgown in the very kitchen where everyone was having breakfast.
I keep my head low but then Rick speaks, “eggs?” He grinned, holding up the frying pan.
“Oh- yes please” I grab a plate and Rick spoons the eggs on.
“Why’s your face so red hun?” He whispers.
“Shhh” I look up at him, “I’m gonna go eat my breakfast over there, far way from you”
Rick chuckles, he plates his own eggs along with Carl’s.
***Rick was working out things in his mind, he was wondering how he could get that sweet girl alone with him. But he knew that somewhere there was always an interruption. And if anyone found out that the leader of the group was sleeping with Hershel’s daughter. Ricks sure that Hershel would break his “no weapons” rule.***
“Psst” I heard someone behind me. I was giving some water to the horses. I turn around and see Rick.
I giggle, “what was that for? My fathers not gonna shoot you for speaking to me”
“He might be tempted” Rick steps closer, his hands in his back pockets, “I wanna pick up where we left off.”
“Not here-“ I squeal as he comes up from behind and squeezes my ass.
“No but we could go behind the barn hm? Just wanna touch you a little come on” he whispers in my ear.
“Rick I don’t think we should” I sigh as his mouth attaches to my neck.
“Don’t be scared, no one will see us” he chuckles, then licks my neck.
Suddenly leaves crunch.
I turn to the barn door and no one was there to see Rick handling me, but moments later there was glenn.
“Hershel wants to give us a few pointers on looking for Sophia” Glenn announces awkwardly, “hi” he acknowledges me.
Glenn could sense something was up but he trusted Rick enough to not bring it up.
“Sure thing, I’ll be right there” rick huffs, another moment interrupted.
I give him a look that says I’m sorry, he nods.
Little does Rick know I’m planning something tonight where he’ll get exactly what he wants.

Secret Desires
Rick Grimes x Fem!Reader
Summary- (Request)
Content information- +18, MDNI, Cussing, age gap (20s and 40s) Smut, p in v, unprotected, fingering, food getting involved I guess, Unedited
A tired sigh left your lips when you felt the ache of hunger rumbling in your stomach. Rick had been running through your mind all night, leading to this restlessness.
The attraction between you and Rick was clear as day. Fleeting touches, glances, and subtle flirting strengthened your desires for him. The only thing stopping you from acting on them was your father. Being his eldest daughter meant setting an example for your younger sisters, Maggie and Beth. Dating the leader of the survivors on your farm was not an ideal example, especially when he's double your age.
Your thoughts of Rick were once again pushed aside by another pang of hunger. Rolling off your creaky bed, you decided to get something to eat. Laziness got the best of you, so you didn’t bother putting on pants as you tip toed out of your room. Your pajamas consisted of a thin tank top and pink underwear with lace around the edges. No one would be awake at this hour, so you didn’t think much of it and went downstairs.
The only illumination in the kitchen was the moonlight shining in through the window. It gave you just enough light to prevent bumping into things. After searching through the fridge and cabinets, you decided the on the last apple sitting on the counter. You were about to reach out and pick it up, when someone else's hand you beat you to it.
You almost yelped in shock when you realized someone else was also in the kitchen. Facing the counter, you mustered the courage to whip yourself around and see who it was behind you.
Standing in front of you, in all his glory, was Rick. You let out a relieved breath and looked up at him. Confusion was etched onto his finely sculpted face. He appeared to be just as surprised to see you in the kitchen this late at night.
After a few moments of silence, he was the first to speak, "What are y'doing this late?" His voice was barely above a whisper, laced with curiosity and suspicion.
Your eyes fluttered up to meet his ice blues. "I wasn't able to fall asleep and I was hungry," you mumble shyly, feeling a tinge of embarrassment from being caught in you skimpy pajamas. He was simply wearing a white t-shirt with grey sweatpants, but his rock hard muscles underneath made your mouth water. It was so surreal, as if this was just another one of the wet dreams you had about Rick. But when his warm minty breath brushed over your lips as he moved closer to you, you knew it was all very real.
He leaned towards you, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear and whispering "I couldn't sleep either." His raspy southern accent made your knees weak and sent chills down your spine.
It took everything in him to resist kissing you. The way you nervously bit your soft lips drove him crazy. Your skin glowed under the moonlight and he could see your hardened nipples through the flimsy tank top.
Your eyes traced over every feature on his face before locking on his lips. Rick broke you out of your trance when he quietly asked, "Y'want this?" and held up the apple. The hunger you felt for the apple was replaced by the hunger you had for him. As if he could read your mind, he set it down on the counter and gently grabbed your face, sliding his tongue through your parted lips. You wrapped your arms around him and pulled him onto your body. His cock hardened under his sweatpants as you grinded against him.
Gasping for air, you finally broke the thirsty kiss. "It's all yours," you whispered and brought the apple to his mouth. He took a bite out of it and held it between his teeth before kissing you again, sharing the it with you. Your hand went to his chest and trailed down to the waistband of his sweatpants.
He broke the kiss and breathlessly whispered, "Y'sure, baby?" His hands cupped your face, forcing your doe eyes to look at him.
"Fuck yeah," you panted and pulled him back into a kiss. The huge erection in his pants rubbed against you, causing a moan to escape your lips. He pulled away and brought his finger to your mouth.
"We gotta be real quiet, okay? Don't wanna wake everyone up with your sweet sounds," he whispered and slid his hand to your soaked underwear. You nodded your head and he began kissing your neck. His fingers massaged your clothed clit and his mouth sloppily sucked on your skin, leaving marks.
You whimpered as his fingers slid your underwear to the side, giving just enough room to slip his fingers into your pussy. His fingers curled in you his thumb rubbed your clit, sending you over the edge. Whines and moans filled the room before he quickly covered your mouth again. "Shh," he urged and turned you over, so you were facing the counter.
His hand was still over your mouth and now your ass was pressed over his erection. You squirmed around for some friction, resulting a quiet groan from him. He gripped your hip to hold you in place before freeing his cock and slipping your underwear off. "Be quiet for me, baby," he whispered and entered the tip of his cock into your drenched cunt. You arched yourself against body, getting him deeper into you.
Rick's thrusts were slow at first, getting you adjusted to his massive size. He pushed deep into you before slowly pulling away. Your hips moved in harmony with his, and he quickened the pace. "Fuck, baby, just like that," he groaned. His cock filled you to the hilt, making you scratch the granite counter tops in pleasure and pain. Your walls wrapped around him tightly as he pounded into you.
The only thing running in your brain was how euphoric it felt to have so deep inside you. His free hand slipped under your tank top and up your body, squeezing your nipples. The feeling sent chills throughout your body, resulting in an even harder thrust from him. He roughly slid his hard cock in and out of your throbbing pussy, pushing you to your second orgasm. All your erotic cries and moans were muffled by his hand as pure ecstasy washed over you. Rick fucked you against the counter, even while your cunt tightly clenched around him.
His thrusts became slower but even harder as he approached his own climax. He leaned into your ear and whispered, "Be fucking silent," and removed his hand from your mouth. Placing both hands on your hips, he held you in place as he sunk into you one last time. Heavy breaths and quiet whimpers were the only sounds you could make without waking anyone up.
His cock twitched inside of you before filling your pussy with cum. It painted your walls white and leaked down your thigh when he pulled out. You both were heavy breathing as he tucked his cock back into his sweatpants. Rick grabbed some paper towels from the counter and cleaned the trail going down your thighs.
You moved away from the counter and pulled your underwear back up. Then you picked up the already-bitten apple and took a bite. Rick opened his mouth to say something, but you shoved the rest of the apple into his mouth and whispered mockingly, "Y'don't like being silenced?" before disappearing upstairs.

Summary: Your life was spinning out of control, you knew that. After a string of particularly shattering events, you decided it was time to start anew. With a little help from one of your Grandma's rentals, you found yourself in the small town of Alexandria. The last thing you expected was your neighbor, Rick Grimes.
TWS: starting over, swearing, and identity crisis.
[[A/N Baby Jude!!! Still sweet as candy, so all my angsty girlies, I am sorry. Also I may have made the Grandma too southern that is my fault, it is all I know. So enjoy your newly southern Grandma. Thanks for reading!!! ]]
"Grandma," you ushered out -gathering up your stacks of paperwork, "-I'm fine! Really."
She seemed to pause for a moment, saying with a tone you knew well -disbelief, "Sure, you are."
"It's not-" you stopped messing with papers -standing to lean against your wall, diagonal to the window, "-not healed by any means. I'm just... I'm working on it."
Your Grandma sighed, a deep one that let you know you had won, "I suppose that's all I can ask of you, Y/N."
You opened your mouth to respond, but your eyes caught on the window -stalling the words falling from your mouth. From this angle you could see into his, Rick's, front yard, it was trimmed well -only overgrown tastefully, so it didn't look like a suburb.
But along the grass and the few little flowers, was Rick himself. He was crouched over, talking to someone -you thought you could see the peek of blonde curly hair (teeny tiny curls) just to his side. His voice was quiet, you couldn't quite make it out but you could still hear it.
Without a second wasted, Rick launched forward and picked up the little girl -laughter squealing into the air. His daughter. She was still obstructed, as he spun her around and her laughter grew but something in your stomach warmed at the sight.
You smiled.
"Y/N? Did you hear me?"
You startled, swallowing and turning away from the window -trying to level your voice, "Sorry, what? I... I thought I saw a raccoon."
Ogling your (probably married) neighbor! You were so better than that-
"Right," she responded, slowly as if she was suspicious -she always was, "-well, I was asking how the town was treating you. I phoned everyone I knew and told them to be nice to you, you know-"
"You didn't have to," you spoke, adjusting the papers spread across the table -they were somewhat organized, at least to you, "-but everyone has been very kind."
"Good," she spoke -rather pointed, like if you had answered differently she probably would've made some phone calls, "-did you see your neighbor? Rick?"
"Uh..." you started, stiffening, "-yeah. He helped me move in, he's really nice. Why?"
"Quite handsome, no?"
"Grandma!" you hissed out, a playful smile on your lips -she was always so involved in your love life, "-Please, he's probably married-"
"Divorced," she corrected, quickly.
"Sorry?" you asked, a bit dumbfounded, "-You haven't been here in years! How would you...?"
"I have my sources," she responded, rather unbothered -you never knew what to expect from her really.
And you thought, she actually probably did.
You felt eyes on you near constantly when you wandered around the town square. Someone must have seen you speak to Rick the past few days and told her, you thought to yourself, she was sneaky enough to do it.
"Right," you pursed your lips, "-listen, Grandma, I have to get some lesson plans done or my first year of teaching will be a disaster-"
"Hardly," she chuckled, "-you are going to be perfect, it's what you're meant to do, Y/N."
You smiled, a sort of fuzzy fondness draping over your heart -she always spoke so highly of you. Even when...
Your mind wandered too far, as you asked the question before you could even think about it, "Have you... Have you heard from him?"
Your Grandma was silent for a moment, you nearly took it back because of it, "'Just when he dropped off some of your things a couple weeks ago. Pops almost pushed him down the stairs when he did, and I just might've let 'em-"
"Grandma!"
"I didn't, I didn't," she corrected, voice light as she laughed, "-just had a few choice words with 'im, that's all."
It was what you had expected, really; she was the type to be fiercely loyal to her grandkids. There were some things you couldn't stop. That was one of them.
"Love you," you cheered, voice bordering on a sort of solemn tone -it always did when... when he was brought up. You couldn't help it.
She echoed back, playful, "Love you too, call me when you can, alright? Don't leave an old lady worryin'."
"Yeah, yeah," you laughed, "-goodbye Grandma."
"Goodbye, sweetie."
You let out a long sigh -eyes laid gently upon your paperwork scattered across the table, it was somewhat organized. Not to a passerby, but to you. A stack of syllabuses to send home with the kids -for parents to look at, colorful posters to hang up on your classroom walls, and the others an assortment of paperwork prepped for things -supply lists, sick notes, parent teacher conferences.
It was a mess, but a mess you understood.
Beginning to put away folders, sorting things as you did so, you stalled in place by a knock on your door.
Realistically, you should've ignored it and kept sorting -the starting date only roamed closer and you were honestly anything but prepared. Seriously, anything. But, you didn't.
At the mere idea of escaping your paper nightmare, you jumped at the opportunity. Easily make your way to the door so quickly that you are sure papers must've shuffled from the movement -future you's problem.
When you swung open your door, you somehow hadn't expected Rick. Despite the fact he was just outside and your neighbor, you had not imagined anything could drag him away from his kid time. He didn't seem the type anyway, you could tell when a parent cared. And what you had even less expected was his daughter, proudly beaming at you with a toothy sort of grin, blonde curls a mess on top of her head -a charmer, you could tell.
"Hi," you spoke, a little in disbelief, "-Rick, and um...?"
Rick opened his mouth, but his daughter spoke for herself -the sort of barely English babble that toddlers sounded like, something like '-dee' at the end. You could only tell it was two syllables by the way her mouth moved.
"Judy," Rick quickly intercepted, "-her name is Judith."
"Oh," you smiled, before crouching slightly to meet her eyes better -you worked with kids so much, you missed this, "-well, Judith is a very pretty name. Would you like to know my name, Miss Judith?"
She grinned, little teeth spotted in her mouth along her gums -so young, and nodded succinctly -confident.
"Y/N," you hummed with the smallest of a smile, "-I'm Mx. Y/N."
Slowly, you gathered yourself and stood back up, smiling. You honestly weren't sure just who you were smiling at.
Rick stood tall, clothes a little worn like he'd been working -it was midday, and most farmers got most things done in the mornings. His shirt was plain, stained slightly from the grass, and his hair a bit askew -stray curl dipping along his forehead. His beard stayed much the same, bushy, and a misplaced thought of what it felt like dangled in your mind for longer than it should have.
"What brings you to visit?" you asked, finally speaking.
He straightened slightly, sliding a hand to rub at the back of his neck -nervous, maybe?- and blue eyes flickering between your own, "Right, 'hope we ain't bothering ya-"
"Oh, no," you responded, "-I was struggling with some paperwork, honestly you saved me."
"Good to kno'," he smirked, a crinkly sort of smile, "-I just. Since y'er new 'round town, I wanted to invite ya to dinner."
"Dinner?"
"I make dinner for a bunch of the town's people," he clarified, and something in you was a little disappointed, "-it's kinda an irregular thang, but I've sent one up for the day after tomorrow. Back to school thing this time around."
"Oh," you echoed, softly.
"You don't have'ta," he muttered out -low and gravelly, "-but I wanted to offer. 'Might help ya get used to the town."
"As long as I'm not intruding," you spoke -almost on instinct.
"I invited you," Rick responded, laughing lightly, "-plus, it's custom f'er newcomers."
"Okay," you grinned, tilting your head slightly, "-yeah, I'll come. I think I need some socialization anyway. Apart from..." You, your mind finished.
"Alright," he grinned, and something in your chest warmed -you ignored it, "-it'll be around 6, but feel free to come 'round earlier. I can introduce you to some people if ya want."
"And if I just stick around you the whole time? What then?" you teased with playful ease.
He paused for a moment, seeming to think on it. Before he settled, smiling widely with the crinkles by his eyes -pleased with himself.
"I wouldn't say that was an issue, Mx. Y/N."
Your heart thumped against your ribs, something sparking deep in your chest and you neatly clamped it down. Not now. You ignored it, even as the bubble of warmth warmed your chest and the smile stuck in your mind long after he left.
Until then, you thought to yourself that night -looking up at the ceiling, eager, -Mr. Grimes.

*****
Over the next few weeks, Tabby fell into a routine of sorts. She would wake early, dress and head to her mother’s place to spend a few hours sorting through the piles of stuff that cluttered the house, filling multitudes of black sacks with rubbish to be disposed of. It was slow progress, and she’d sometimes stumble across an object so laden with memories that it would take her breath away, but three rooms were now completely empty, and she felt as if, at last, she was getting somewhere. She’d take a change of clothes along, showering there to wash away the dust and the grime that would cling to her skin, and then she’d drive across town and work the lunch shift at the diner. She found that she enjoyed waitressing, chatting with the customers and breathing in the heavenly scents of coffee, sizzling steaks and unctuous venison stew that hung heavy in the air. Carol was apologetic that she didn’t have more hours for her, but it was enough for Tabby to get by, stopping her from burning through her savings too quickly, and she’d been out for drinks once or twice with one of the other girls that worked there: Maggie, a farmer’s daughter from down the road a ways. All in all, she found, she was content with her life for the first time in longer than she could remember, and she clung to that, letting it carry her through the darker moments when doubts would creep in unbidden and threaten her newfound sense of peace.
The highlight of her days, though, came in the evenings, when, more often than not, Daryl would show up at her door. The first few times he’d texted first, or she had, testing the waters, checking that the other desired their company, but now he would just turn up, and she’d come to anticipate the thud of his boots against the porch steps and the rap of his knuckles against the solid wood, announcing his arrival. Sometimes, when the weather was clear and the light lingered a little longer, they would climb onto his bike and go for a ride, not really heading anywhere in particular but enjoying the journey nonetheless. Other nights, when he was late finishing up at the shop, he would come in his truck, and they’d curl up on the sofa and watch a movie, or cook dinner together, or just talk. Because he was so easy to talk to. Tabby found that she could lose hours chatting to him about the people they’d gone to school with, camping trips in the forest with her family when she was a kid, and the weird and wonderful things she discovered amongst her mother’s possessions, and, the more she talked, the more he would open up, telling her about weekends spent fishing or hunting in the countryside with his brother, summer barbecues at Rick’s place with his wife and kids, and some of the stranger incidents he’d been sent out to with the tow truck. It never felt forced or awkward, the conversation flowing in a way that she’d become unaccustomed to back in the city, and she revelled in it, finding it harder to hold herself back from him each time he bid her goodnight.
Then there were the kisses they shared because, of course, there were more of those. Now that Tabby knew how it felt to be held in his arms, to feel his mouth moving on hers and taste the heady mix of smoke and coffee and spearmint on his tongue, she couldn’t deny herself that pleasure any more than she could tear her own heart out. She would try to resist, knowing that it wasn’t fair on him when there was so much that she’d left unresolved and sensing that he had questions building up in him that she just wasn’t ready to answer, but, as the evenings wore on, they would inevitably inch closer on the couch, until she could rest her head on his shoulder or against the firm expanse of his chest, and then it would be so easy to just tilt her face up a little, seeking his lips, and he would never push her away. It wasn’t expected, nor was it every time he visited, but, each time it did happen, he would wrap her up in his arms and hold her to him as if she belonged there, as if he didn’t ever want to let her go, and she would let the sensation swallow her up and drive her worries and fears to the back of her mind. Daryl was the best distraction that she had ever discovered, but he was so much more than that. If she let herself linger too hard on it, she’d realise just how much trouble she was in, how utterly gone she was on him, so she didn’t think, she just did, and it was good.
*****
“Hey, you!” Daryl looked up to see Tabby crossing the yard towards him, a wide grin splitting her face and setting his heart pounding wildly, though he sucked in a deep breath, trying to regain some sort of control. She’d just come from work; he could tell by the flush of her cheeks from steaming the milk for numerous coffees and the way she wore her dark waves piled up in a messy knot on the top of her head, exposing the faint tan of her shoulders. He swallowed hard, finding his mouth suddenly dry as she drew nearer. It didn’t seem to matter how often he saw her, how much time they spent together, she always seemed to have the same effect on him, and all he could do was try to make sure that his infatuation wasn’t written all over his face.
“Hey.” He pulled a rag from the back pocket of his overalls, wiping his hands and forearms clean so that he wouldn’t smear grease over the back of her vest top when she pulled him into a hug. He could smell the lingering sweetness of fried onions mixing with her perfume, and he felt hunger stir within him, though whether it was for food or for her he wasn’t quite sure. “Whatcha doin’ here? Everythin’ alright?”
“More than alright,” she assured him, pulling away, resting her hands on his shoulders so she could fix him with a gleeful look. “One of my dad’s old colleagues came in for lunch today, and, when he found out who I was, he left me a very generous tip.”
“S’nice of him.”
“It was. He had so many stories about Dad, it was…” She tailed off, and he could see how much it had affected her, having somebody who had such fond memories of her old man share them with her. “Anyway, the point is I’m earning, and now I have a little extra to play with, so I came to ask you out to dinner.”
“S’that right?” He arched a brow at her, wondering for a brief moment if this was a date, but he was too anxious to ask and risk embarrassing himself.
“Well, unless you have other plans,” she teased, knowing already that he didn’t. All of his spare time, it seemed, was reserved for her these days and, selfishly, she was glad of it. If he’d had other friends before she came along, they seemed to have fallen by the wayside, though she wasn’t sure that had been the case. The only exception seemed to be Rick, and she knew he made a point to spend his evenings with his family. She released her hold on him, cocking her head to one side as she awaited his response.
“Where’d ya wanna go?”
“Your choice.” She shrugged. “Is that a yes?”
“Mmhmm, I guess. Gotta eat, right?”
“Right.” His smirk had a blush rising in her cheeks, and she knew he’d noticed when it morphed into a bashful smile. “Well, like I said, you can choose where we go. Think about it. You’ll probably have a better idea than me of what’s around. Or, I guess, Rick might know somewhere.”
“Ya don’t gotta do this, y’know? Ya don’t gotta spend yer money on me.” He had to say it, despite the fact that he could sense her excitement, how much she wanted to do this, and how much he desperately wanted it to be a date. He knew money had been an issue, something she worried about, and she was still only working part-time. He didn’t want her to leave herself short because of him.
“I know.” She dipped her head as if to hide from his gaze, nudging the toe of her boot against a ridge in the concrete floor. “I just… I want to do something nice to thank you. You’ve been… Honestly, you’ve been kind of amazing, and I don’t know what I’d have done without you this past month or so. So…”
“Alright, if yer sure. I’ll think about it.”
“Good.” She stretched up to brush a kiss against his cheek, lingering for a moment as temptation caught ahold of her before stepping away, her blush deepening. “I can’t wait.”

Unbeknownst to Tabby and Daryl, their exchange was being observed through narrowed eyes, their figures tinted red by barely contained rage. The old Ford truck, parked on the other side of the street, was chosen to blend in, so popular in those parts, not unlike the ones driven by Daryl and Rick and many of the other residents of the town. From its driver’s seat, a man studied the easy friendship between the two, the laughter that seemed to spill from the woman’s lips and the way the mechanic grazed his hand down the length of her arm, capturing her hand for just a second before she moved away, his gaze falling to the sway of her hips as she sauntered back across the yard. The man dipped his head, shielding his face in case she should glance up and notice him, but she was barely aware of her surroundings, still smiling dreamily as she climbed into her familiar cherry red car and started the engine, swinging out of the parking bay with a final wave out of the open window. Faced with a dilemma, he had to think on his feet: to follow her, or to make the smirking grease monkey aware of his existence.
He was frozen with indecision, and, in the end, it was that delay that made his choice as he watched the Cougar disappear down the road and out of sight. He had a vague idea where she was headed, knew he could find out for sure by asking around, but, whilst he was there, he figured, he should take advantage of the opportunity that now presented itself. He climbed from the truck, crossing to stand beside the rusting sign - Grimes Auto - and pausing for a moment to paste a smile on his face. He ran his fingers through his hair, shaking his hands as if he could shake away some of the tension that threaded through his muscles, and sucked in a calming breath, steeling himself before entering the lot and crossing towards the workshops. The mechanic had returned to his task, dropping down onto a creeper positioned beside a dented SUV and searching through his toolbox.
“Hey, was that Tabitha you were talkin’ to just now? Tabitha Dean?” The man kept his voice light, almost cheery, though he was still met with a suspicious gaze, and he felt his hackles rise instinctively at the protectiveness he could detect emanating from the workman.
“Who wants to know?” His voice was gruff and gravelly, his redneck drawl causing the man to fight back a smirk of disdain.
“Oh, man, that must’ve sounded weird as hell, right?” He chuckled, rubbing a hand over the top of his head as if frustrated with himself. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to come off as some kinda creep. It’s just… Well, she’s probably mentioned me. I’m Shane… Her fiancé.”
There it was. A dark expression flashed across the mechanic’s face, rage and confusion and something else… Self-loathing, perhaps. Shane just loved to see it, and he drank it in, committing it to memory. After all, this was the asshole betraying him with his wife-to-be, and, as far he was concerned, he deserved everything he had coming to him. “Can I help ya with somethin’?”
“Nah, man, I just came over to introduce myself. Any friend of Tabby’s is a friend of mine.” He laughed again, and this time, at least, it was genuine. He affected a concerned tone before he went on. “She havin’ car trouble? She could’ve just called me…”
The mechanic shrugged and gave a small shake of his head, biting out his answer from between gritted teeth. “Just followin’ up.”
“Right. Well, I’ll let you get back to work then.” Shane reached for his wallet, pulling out a twenty and stooping to tuck it into the pocket of the other man’s overalls. “Little tip, in case my girl didn’t have any cash on her.”
“Don’t need it,” he spat.
“I insist.” He felt the mechanic’s eyes burning into his back as he turned and walked away.

@sheriffwithagun - continued from x.
“Dude...you gotta wear a costume...”
Glenn’s eyebrows were raised high, judging his neighbor and friend for his lack of participation during the Halloween season. It hadn’t dawned on him, even as Rick had gathered advice from Glenn as what deemed appropriate yet cool for a kid Carl’s age to wear for Halloween that Rick himself hadn’t planned a costume out. Glenn also knew he most likely understood the Sheriff more than most, especially with all that the now divorced man had endured and overcome within the last year. Rick had become a man of routine; work, kids, and repeat on a constant. As much as Glenn respected someone with drive, as he constantly fought to find it for his own self, it wasn’t apparent for him to notice Rick not taking advantage of open opportunities. Glenn didn’t mind helping out with Carl and Judith, he enjoyed the time with his younger neighbors, however it seemed he was constantly harping at the older man to take advantage of not having the kids around when he did. He didn’t push it too much, seeing the obvious dislike breaking from behind Rick’s eyes and the last thing Glenn wanted to do was piss of the Sheriff....he was the Sheriff after all. He’d never seen Rick Grimes overly aggravated, outside of drunken stupors after the kids went to bed, but Glenn had a wild intuition that Rick had a temper when need be.
At the mention of his own Halloween outfit, Glenn’s worrisome look turned giddy as he thought of his reasoning behind his chosen clothing. It was Glenn’s fourth year of college at Georgia State and when he wasn’t volunteering his free time to watching the Grimes kids and getting shitty tips for delivering pizzas, he was studying his ass off to graduate on time. He’d told Rick about the girl he saw at a house party, brown bobbed hair and green eyes that had pierced him since the first time he’d seen her, and ever since he’d been trying to find her again. He’d found out a few that she was from a farm in Senoia and that she had an accent to die for, but not anything that could help him in the long run.
“Duh. I’m going to this costume party in the dorms. Gonna see if I can hunt down the Farmer’s Daughter. This is the year, man. I can feel it.”

Grimes sisters chapter 4
So here is finally the next chapter. I’m so sorry it took so damn long but we had lost our motivation for a while. but now that season 10 is standing before we got our mojo back. so lean back and enjoy.
Warnings: drama, make out session, Loris funeral
Pairings: Shane x Fabienne
Alex POV
After I had talked with Fabienne for a little while longer we made our way inside to eat something. Luckily the guys had found some good stuff on their hunt through the prison. A lot of the others were already sitting in the main area eating. We sat next to Rick and Carl and Fabi’s glance went over to Shane. Hell they had a lot to talk about. I grabbed a can with god knows what inside, the paper had gone missing along the way, and held it under Fabiennes nose. “Bon Appetit” I said and we enjoyed the food and decent company.
During dinner my sister had been quiet while the others all talked lively. After she had finished her meal she mumbled some apology and went to bed immediately. “Maybe you should apologize.” I hissed to Shane who lowered his head a little, hopefully ashamed of his behavior that morning. We didn’t need more arguments here than we already had. One last time that day I ventured over to Rick and Carl’s cell to say good night and then fell asleep in my bed almost directly.
“ Breakfast” that word ripped me out of my sleep the next morning. The caller was Daryl who smiled almost brightly at us. My wasn’t that a sight for sore eyes?! Seemed like we looked more than funny sleepy and with tousled hair. “Oh by the way your watch begins in a while.” he added. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and put on some halfway clean clothes to wear. “Later” she mumbled when she flew past me. I just shrugged at her. Both of us had never been morning persons before and we wouldn’t start now. When I stepped in the common area everyone had already cleared out. Probably working. Busy bees they were indeed. I grabbed something to eat and went outside as well.
Fabienne POV
I positioned myself on the watchtower and wondered when Carol would finally show up but suddenly the door opened and Shane hobbled in. I looked at him a little confused and huff annoyed. I really didn’t wanna be stuck with him for the next hours. “Carol asked me if I could take her shift, she wanted to prepare with your sister for the funeral.” he said and sat down. “Are you still mad at me?” he asked and smiled at me calmingly. I still remained silent. “Look, I didn’t mean it that way, okay? You could have been hurt or worse. In that case I would have never forgiven myself” he confessed. Was this supposed to be an apology? I just looked at him a little unnerved and responded: “you could have said it differently.” He nodded towards the chair next to him and I sat down. “How’s your foot doing?” I asked concerned. “It’s not that bad.” he pushed the topic aside. He was a tough guy. You had to give him credit for that at least. The fact that he was still limping told me that he was still in a lot of pain.
We glanced over the perimeter of the jail to look for possible breaches but found nothing. “So you brought Lori’s child into this world, hm? Respect!” he changed topic. As I thought about it tears started to dwell in my eyes again. It was a very sore point for me. The image of Lori laying lifeless on the floor in a puddle of her own blood was still so fresh I couldn’t erase it out of my mind. He noticed my uneasiness and pulled me in a hearty embrace. It felt so good to have someone hugging me. He stroked over my upper arm slightly and our faces came dangerously close to each other. We stayed like that for maybe a minute what felt like an hour and my breathing was turning erratic. Suddenly he closed the space and kissed me softly. It was an amazing feeling after all this time of the fucking world ending I never thought about being with a man again but in that moment I realized how much I had missed this. He was such a good kisser and I moaned into the kiss. His big hands framed my face completely but then we had to come up for air. Suddenly it hit me “I don’t think that Rick would like this very much.” I whispered sadly because I had really enjoyed being so close to him. I knew I shouldn’t care about it but I didn’t want to poke the bear even more. Shane looked a little sad for a second before he turned around and kept looking over the yard. I remembered why we where actually here and did the same. But every time my eyes drifted over to him my heart beat wildly in my chest as if it wanted to break through my rib-cage. It was excruciating. I forced myself to keep watch even if that was going to be hard.
“Are you guys coming down?” Alex yelled from downstairs. I had to help Shane climb back down. I didn’t even realize that the time flew past that fast. The following part of the day was gonna get emotional. Lori’s funeral. “Come on I’ll help you.” I offered Shane and he gladly took it. Together we limped over to where Rick and Daryl had shoveled the grave. Lori’s body was already lying rolled in a sheet next to the hole. As I saw that my eyes started to water again. I still couldn’t believe it. Daryl and Rick slowly heaved the body into the grave. The archer wanted to start shoveling earth onto her body but Rick took the shovel from him. He had always been the one to do everything himself. “Lori, we hope you're at a better place now. We will care for our kids but we are gonna miss you every day for the rest of our lives. I love you.” he said and his voice broke. Even I couldn’t hold my tears any longer. Shane saw and put his hand calmingly on my lower back, reflexively I laid my head on his shoulder. In the end everyone stepped closer to the grave and said a few words or just connected silently to her soul. “Thanks for everything.” I whispered through a carpet of tears and took a handful of flowers to throw into the grave. After the small ceremony we all went our separate ways to mourn.
Ricks POV
The others had already left her grave but I couldn’t. I hated to cry but in this case I couldn’t hold back the tears. Spade after spade of dirt landed on my beloved wife. It just wasn’t fair! Why did I have to loose her again? I wasn’t sure how to handle all this on my own. Half of my life she had been the one giving me strength and courage and now she was gone. Just like that. My daughter would never get to know her mother and Carl’s memories of her would also get thinner and thinner.
All I wanted to do was mourn my loss for as long as I needed to but unfortunately that wasn’t possible in this world. I had a whole group of people relying on me and I couldn’t let them down. I said my last goodbye and found my way back to my family. Everyone was looking at me with pitiful eyes. It was annoying. I hated that feeling. Always had. Now was the time to go forward not back. I had to be strong for them, Lori would have wanted that. It was a welcome change to sit on the grass and talk about this and that. They would help me through this I knew that much. We lost so much in the past that we needed to be a family to each other. That’s how we worked.
It took all out of me to decide to talk to Fabienne. I wasn’t in the mood for fighting with her. I had to look around for a second until I found her sitting with Shane, Alex and Daryl. Where else would she be? The position I found Shane and Fabi sitting in was a little concerning to me. Shane was sitting behind her and she sat in between his spread legs her back facing his torso. I wrinkled my face thinking if there was something going on between them. But I shook the thought away quickly Shane had always been like a second brother to the girls. But I would stay alert. If he wanted something from Fabienne I had to talk to him. He could have anyone but not my sisters. They were off limits. Around the same time I noticed that Alex and Daryl came dangerously close as well. But they had been like fire and water in the past. Especially when Daryl’s brother Merle was the topic. Alex had hated him. He was a misogynist and a racist. There had still been no sign of him after we had left him on the roof of the Atlanta shopping mall. And I wasn’t sure if we would ever hear a word of him again. We were better off without him. I was actually happy that they seemed to get along now. One problem less to worry about. As I sat down next to them Shane asked me: “How are you holdin’ up?” “According to the circumstances I guess.” I looked down because tears were threatening to spill again. “But why I’m here… I wanted to apologize to you all. Especially to you Fabienne. I didn’t want to yell at you. I was just so afraid that I’d loose you too. I wouldn’t survive that.” I swallowed thickly. Fabienne noticed my sincerity and came over to hug me close. “I love you so much big brother!” she exclaimed. It had always been that way. We could never be mad at each other for too long. I trusted Fabienne with my life but I was still going to keep an eye on her and Shane. After this deep conversation the topics swapped back to our every day survival ones. “’m gonna keep huntin’. Meat’s important right now. We need the strength.” Daryl mumbled. I agreed. Fabienne wanted to plant veggies with the help of Carol and Alex and under consultation of Hershel. He had been a farmer before after all. This was the silver streak we all needed. Maybe we could make a living here for ourselves. The rest of the day was spent with conversation and laughter. It had been a beautiful afternoon. I noticed how much they all had deserved that. After dinner I had gone down to Lori’s grave again to say good night.
Fabienne POV
It was a relieve to be back on the right foot with Rick. The afternoon had been fantastic. Seeing everyone relaxed and kinda happy was nice for a change. Rick stepped away from the group and I also decided to go for a walk. While I ambled along the fence out of sight the sun set completely and it turned dark around me. The last rays dipped the roof of the highest building in a bright pink purple mixture. I stared at it until it was totally gone. I couldn’t believe that this had been the most normal thing in the world to me once in my life. Watching the sun slowly fade away in the evenings unimaginable nowadays. Outside of this refuge it would be much too dangerous to stare at the sky for a little too long. A walker could sneak up on you and bite you right away. I leaned against the wall and glanced over to the walkers outside the fence. They are disgusting monsters. At some point I thought this was the end of humankind but I got new courage that we can fight this virus and win. I went back to the little campfire the others had build and shot Shane once in a while a few glances. I remembered the kiss this morning and I gotta say it was a really nice memory. It would have to do for some lonely nights… even if Rick really wouldn’t be happy with it.
The day ended and everyone fell tired but happy into bed.
New day new luck. Carol and I met at the flowerbeds we had build the previous days. We had to start early because the sun had gotten quiet warm over the last few days and it was almost unbearable to work at noon. “Yesterday I found those flowerbeds over there. They seemed to have been quiet autonomous here and planted a lot themselves.” Carol marked on. But we couldn’t reach that part because there were just too many of the undead. “That’s why they found so many seeds on their run inside.” I noticed. When we were ready preparing we started planting carrot and potato seeds. “Good job.” Carol said after we had finished and hugged me shortly. She wasn’t the most emotional person either. If you knew her past you could think of many reasons why she had problems connecting to people.
“Hey do you know where Rick is?” Alex came running toward us. “I think he’s on watch.” I responded. “Good thanks. Daryl and I wanna go for a run tomorrow. Maybe we find some supplies.” she stuttered quickly. Her and Daryl? Not that I didn’t trust him but I was still sceptical towards that idea. She rambled a quick bye and ran towards our watchtower.
Carol and I decided to clean up a little and she went to go to Carl and his sister. We still had no name for her. Poor little girl. Inside I washed myself a little we had found some running water earlier. As I stared at myself in the mirror I was a little shocked. All the working in the mud today had made me look like a crazy person. I changed into some clean clothes which were rare nowadays and enjoyed the silence.
At some point I started to clean up our cell. We weren’t the most tidy girls never had been. Mom had always hated the chaos and told us how much more tidy our big brother was. The only reason for that was that he had been rarely home. Always on the run. At that thought I had to smile. I missed her so incredibly much. Unfortunately we were too late when all this started. Shane had taken Alex and me to moms house but it had already been overrun by walkers. Nothing we could have done then. Our dad had already died three years before the apocalypse. Heart attacks were a bitch but at least it was a merciful death. Alex and I were so down after moms death and at that point we still thought Rick to be dead too. I had goosebumps just thinking about it. Stop it Fabienne start looking into a brighter future!! The moment Rick stepped out of that car at the camp outside of Atlanta Alex and had been so happy. We felt like newly born. I was having a lot of those thoughts lately. Suddenly two strong hands gripped me from behind and ripped me out of my thoughts...

Rick’s sister (Daryl Dixon x Reader) Part 2
Fandom: The Walking Dead
Imagine being Rick’s little sister. He thinks you’re dead but you survived somehow to find him and his group at the farm months after the outbreak. Now you live with the group and Shane decides to be a ‘jerk’ to you.
Part 1
Your eyes fluttered open as a ray of sunshine warmed up your skin. You sighed softly and stretched your arms, making your rugged blanket fall off your body. You sat there, a small smile on your lips as your eyes adjusted to the dim morning light. It must have been early in the morning because you could still hear the soft sound of Daryl snoring on his cot next to yours. You chuckled silently and turned your head to the side to look at him. Your cots were at two opposite sides of his tent but you were still slightly flustered by the approximate closeness the tent provided. Your eyes trailed up to his face, he had his right arm over his eyes and the left one gripped his pillow. He looked peaceful, and for once, he didn’t seem pissed off or sad. You shook your head slightly and sat up in your makeshift bed, your head still disoriented and your stomach aching from the lack of food.
It has been three days now that Daryl found you in the woods and brought you back to your brother but you were still too weak to go out and help finding Sophia, even if you desperately wanted to help. You could see how much it meant for the group, Carol was hardly eating or even living. The poor woman was already grieving the loss of her little girl and any trace of hope had already left her heart. Rick couldn’t help but blame himself for what had happened. Even if he tried to stay strong for everyone, you knew your brother. You knew that he had to find her in order to forgive himself. Then, there was Daryl. Your redneck savior was the one who seemed to care the most, even though he wouldn’t admit it out loud, Daryl was out into the woods every single day to find the lost girl.
You closed your eyes for a second then took a last glance at Daryl’s sleeping form and got out of the tent with new clothes and your knife. You were too scared of changing into the tent and taking the risk of Daryl seeing you. As long as you could remember, you had always been modest and shy around people, especially men. As you exited the tent and zipped it back up, you looked over the camp. Everybody was still asleep except from Shane who was on watch on RV’s rooftop. The man looked down at you and smiled, his eyes roaming your body in a way that made you gag. You turned your eyes away and started to walk toward the farm house. You’ve become good friends with Maggie and Beth over the past few days and Hershel gave you the authorization to use their bathroom to change and clean up. You climbed up the small set of stairs before the pavilion house, looking back over the camp to see Shane now standing on the rooftop and looking in your direction. You turned away again and knocked on the wooden door, waiting for the authorization to enter the house. Soft footsteps approached the door quickly and you looked up to be met by Hershel’s squinted eyes. You smiled and the old man opened the door, returning your smile.
“Good morning, sir.” You greeted your host, the old man smiled at you and stepped aside to let you in.
“Good morning (Y/N), you’re up early today.” Hershel said, his voice filled with kindness. You didn’t know why the old man was that nice to you, you knew that he was a good man but Rick had told you that he wanted you gone when Carl would be healed and ready to travel. You suspected that Maggie had something to do with the old man’s behavior towards you.
“Yes, I’m used to wake up early. When I was alone I couldn’t sleep that much.” You answer sheepishly as Hershel closed the door and walked into the kitchen.
“I understand.” He simply answered. “Maggie is already awake if you want to go see her in her room.” He added, already distracted with a book. You nodded your head and thanked the man before quickly making your way upstairs and knocked on Maggie’s door.
“Come in!” You heard her voice say. You smiled and open the door to see her looking out the window toward your camp. You chuckled as you sat on her bed with your new clothes still in your arms.
“Trying to have a good look at Glenn?” You teased her with a mischievous grin, making her groan and turned around to look at you.
“Will you stop?” She said and rolled her eyes as she walked in your direction and sat on the bed.
“Never!” You answered in a chuckle, loving to tease the two love birds. Maggie tried to convince herself that what she felt for Glenn was nothing more than a crush but you knew better. You saw how she was looking at him and, more importantly, you saw how Glenn was looking at her. The young man was completely in love with the farmer’s daughter, it was obvious.
“Look who’s talking, you’re sleeping in the tent of mister crossbow over there. I know how you feel about him, you can’t stop looking at that flower he gave you.” Maggie said and it was your turn to roll your eyes and try to hide your flushed cheeks.
“Please Maggie, he’s way older than me. I’m sure he doesn’t care about me as much as you think he does.”
“Keep telling yourself that, (Y/N) but I’m telling you. This man has feelings for you.” She smirked knowingly.
“It’s only been three days, Maggie!” You argued but Maggie shook her head.
“And so what? He saved you, he brought you back to your brother, he looks after you, he gives you flowers!” Maggie tried to convince you but you shook your head.
“Because he wanted to apologize for being an asshole to me before that, not because he wanted to make a love declaration.” As the words left your lips, Maggie groaned in exasperation.
“You’re so stubborn in the Grimes family, I swear!” The southern girl said as she slapped the palm of her hand on her forehead.
You laughed at her antics and so did she, after several more minutes talking with Maggie you decided to use their bathroom and take a quick shower before changing into clean clothes. You told Maggie that she could ask for you if she needed any help with the chores she had to do and went back to your camp. It was still early but some people were already awake, including Dale, Glenn and Rick. You smiled brightly and hugged your big brother from behind, wrapping your arms roughly around his shoulders and jumped on his back. Rick groaned but quickly grabbed your legs as if he was carrying you on his back.
“Morning brother!” You said as you laughed at his grumpy face. You jumped down and he turned around with a small smirk on his lips.
“Good morning sister, you’re already up?” He asked you and kissed your cheek in a brotherly way. You smiled and nodded.
“Yes, I went to talk to Maggie while waiting for your lazy ass to wake up.” You teased him, making him shove your shoulder slightly. Glenn and Dale laughed and you stepped aside to greet them.
Dale had started the fire back and T-Dog was cooking eggs as Carol made her way towards the man to help him. You were chatting with Glenn when suddenly, Daryl emerged from his tent, his eyes wide open and quickly putting his crossbow over his shoulders. He seemed agitated and worried as his eyes looked over the camp in search of something. Then, his eyes landed on you and he seemed to calm down. You smiled at him as he exited the tent more at ease and made his way over the log you were sitting on with Glenn.
“Good morning Daryl.” You greeted him with a nice smile. You didn’t know that but your smile always made his heart skip a beat.
“Mornin’.“ He grumbled out in his morning voice, making you blush unintentionally. “Where were ya?” He asked as Glenn passed him a plate of eggs and squirrel.
“I went to have a little chat with Maggie.” You answered with a raised eyebrow, taken aback by his concern.
Daryl nodded his head and grumble something before making his way behind his tent to God knows where. You turned your head towards Glenn who was looking at Daryl’s direction as if he had just seen a ghost then his eyes shifted to look at you.
“Well… that was weird.” Your friend said making you giggle and nod your head in agreement.
Daryl came back after a few minutes and sat on a camping chair next to Glenn, his eyes shifting from his food to you as you finished your small share of eggs. You knew that Daryl was suspicious about you giving your food to Carl sometimes but he had never said anything about it… until now.
“Here…” You heard Daryl’s voice say, making you look up at him. He was extending his plate in your direction, his nodded his head towards the plate gesturing for you to take it. You shook your head and tried to decline the offer, Glenn looking from Daryl to you as you answered the hunter.
“No, that’s your share Daryl. You have to eat, I already had mine.” You tried to lie with a smile on your lips. Daryl groaned then grabbed your plate and shoved half of his food into it. You sighed and glanced at Glenn who was smirking at you. Daryl set the plate on your lap and groaned again.
“Eat.” He said sternly making you scoff but eat anyway. Glenn let out a chuckle at your pouting face, making Daryl and you glare at him.
Your eyes met Daryl’s, his stare made you blush but you nodded your head at him and mouthed a small “thank you”. Daryl’s lips tugged slightly into a small smile then he looked down at his plate. You smiled softly and started to eat the food Daryl had gave you, hopefully this interaction would go unnoticed by the rest of the group but it was without taking Shane into account.
“Well, well, well!” You heard Shane’s loud voice from the other side of the fire, your heart stopped as you knew what he was about to do. “Look at that! The stone-cold redneck seems to have a little crush on my best friend’s little sister, huh!” His voice was so loud that everyone stopped talking and looked at Daryl then at you.
“What the hell man?!” Daryl quickly said in a pissed off voice, glaring at Shane in a way that made you shiver. Daryl could really be intimidating.
“I saw you give half of your food to (Y/N), man.” Shane said as if he had seen something forbidden. You looked at Daryl to see him clenched his fists and glared even more at Shane. Glenn shifted on his seat beside you, clearly feeling uncomfortable about the situation.
“And so what?” You stepped in, trying to defend Daryl. “What’s your problem Shane?” You glared at him then looked at Rick who seemed really tired about Shane’s mess.
“My problem? I don’t have a problem. I just think it’s funny to see a man like him trying to get to a girl like you.” He said and you saw Daryl’s shoulders tensed. Your face flushed in anger, knowing how Daryl felt about his origins.
“Shut up Shane! It’s not because you have your freaking little heart broken that you have to be a jerk like that. I’m not stupid Shane, I know what you did.” You said in threatening voice, making Shane tensed up and glared at you.
“You know nothing, little girl.” He seethed getting ready to get up but Rick stepped before you.
“Okay, that’s enough!” Your brother told Shane in an authoritative voice. Shane sat back down and everyone looked at Daryl and you.
You felt so shy and embarrassed about what had happened that you looked down and stared at your plate. You felt Glenn’s hand on your shoulder and this simple kind gesture made you feel intently better. Suddenly, Daryl shove his plate to the ground and got up before storming away towards the RV. Rick followed him and several people gathered around a car talking about the searching plan for today. You were still pissed off about what had happened with Shane even if you saw Rick lecture him about it, it wasn’t enough. In addition, you knew that because of that Daryl would push you away.
You were hanging clothes with Carol when you saw the group separate from the car and going in different directions. Your eyes searched for Daryl and you saw him walk towards the stable. You quickly excused yourself to Carol and tried to catch up to him. The man entered the stable as you finally caught up and called his name.
“Daryl! Wait up!” You said as you tried to catch your breath. Daryl stopped and turned around, his face only showing annoyance.
“What do ya want?” He asked harshly, making you sighed.
“I wanted to know if you were alright. You know, after what Shane said…” You mumbled shyly.
“I don’t give a shit about what he said. It wasn’t true anyway…” He answered as if he didn’t care at all. You looked up at him but he was already walking away towards one of Hershel’s horse.
“But… I mean, he’s an asshole you know. It’s not personal, it’s…” You tried again but Daryl turned around and his anger took you aback.
“I said I didn’t care! I don’t care about ya! I don’t care about what he said! I could never love a girl like ya! Love is stupid and if ya think that I was giving ya my food because I care then ya’re stupid too!” Daryl shouted at you, almost getting in your face.
You took a step back out of instinct and looked at him with slight fear and sadness. Your eyes dropped to the ground trying to hide your tears as they trailed down your cheeks without your consent. You didn’t want to cry before him but you couldn’t help it. You took a shaky breath in, on order to calm down.
“Well… You made it pretty clear now. Good luck out there.” You said before turning around and almost running out of the stable, tears now running down your cheeks freely.
You ran away from the camp and from Carol who tried to call your name but you couldn’t face her right now. You felt so exposed and stupid as you ran behind the farm house to hide from everyone. You lent your back against the wooden walls and slid down until you sat on the ground and buried your face into your knees. You stayed there, sat in the dirt, crying your eyes out in shame. You didn’t know why Daryl’s words pained you that much, after all, you had met the man only three days ago. You knew that a friendship couldn’t develop in this short period of time but his words still stabbed your heart. Maybe it was because you cared about him when he didn’t care about you in return? You sighed and tried to calm down, a few sobs escaping your lips before you harshly wiped under your eyes and got up at the same time as Maggie walked out of her house by the back door.
“(Y/N)?” She asked in surprise, seeing the miserable state you were in. “What happened?” She seemed worried as she took you into her arms and hugged you close. You tried to talk but your throat felt soar so you simply shook your head as she pulled away.
“It’s Daryl, isn’t it?” She asked in an annoyed voice. You looked up at her briefly then shrugged your shoulders before nodding your head ‘yes’. Maggie sighed and took your hand to lead you into the house. “Don’t worry, whatever he said, he doesn’t mean it.”
“I highly doubt that.” You said just above a whisper, making Maggie look at you with sad eyes.
“Come on, you’ll help us with dinner. It will make you think about something else.” Maggie said as she took you with her into the house and made you help her, Carol, Beth, Patricia and Lori.
Daryl was laying in the dirt, his head and side hurt but he could only focus on the voice of his brother. He couldn’t believe that he let this happen, the horse he had took to search for Sophia sent him down a cliff and he was now hurt with one of his own arrows piercing though his side. Even if it hurt as hell Daryl couldn’t help but think that he deserved it. He could still see your pained eyes, your tears trailing down your cheeks as your heart broke in pieces. Seeing you hurt was the most horrible thing for him, and knowing that he had caused you so much pain made him hate himself more than anything.
“What did you think, man! You’re not good enough for a sweet girl like her! Nobody will ever care about you lil’ brother, except for me.” Merle said and Daryl groaned in exasperation.
“Shut up man!” Daryl said as strong as he could. “Ya don’t know what ya’re talking about.”
“Oh, but because you do?” Merle laughed, making Daryl close his eyes as he tried to stay awake. Merle shoved Daryl’s feet, making his little brother open his eyes once again.
“Hey man stay awake! You have to make it out of here or I’ll go back to your camp again and shot officer friendly in the head then take care of your sweet girl for you!” Merle laughed again, making Daryl groan in anger and opened his eyes widely.
“Don’t ya dare hurt her, man!” Daryl searched for Merle around him, ready to beat him to the ground even with an arrow through his side.
“Why did you say you didn’t care about her if you do, man?” Merle asked and kneeled before his little brother. Daryl felt suddenly too dizzy to even keep his eyes open.
“I… I don’t know man… I don’t know…” Was all Daryl could say before he passed out, hearing his brother laugh at his answer. All he could think about was if he would ever see (Y/N) Grimes again.
“I’m sorry angle.” He thought before falling into darkness.
