How about Rhinedottir?
| At Dawn |
Pairing: Rhinedottir x Reader
Warnings: 18+ MINORS DNI, Only one bed trope, Reader has a vagina, Reader goes by no pronouns, Rhine goes by She/Her pronouns, Fingering, Foreplay, Reader is centuries old, Implied Mutual Pining, 1.6k words.
Prompt: “Quit acting like I have the plague.”
A/n: Mootie... the way i nearly screamed when I saw this ask. /pos
It took some time to find a place to stay for the night, but thankfully you did find a room in a nearby inn. Rhine promptly paid for the room and the both of you moved upstairs where your room was located. Upon opening the door you and Rhinedottir immediately shed your clothing and other belongings. You were half naked and standing off at a random corner of the room as you watched how Rhine stripped herself, removing the various bags and weapons that rested at her waist. It wasn’t until she was down to her undergarments that she noticed your staring
You couldn’t help but gaze at her body littered with various scars, burns, and blemishes. Her body told a story, and an unpleasant one at that. One that you were fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you looked at it, had almost always been a part of. It was moments like that in which you really wondered how or why you were necessary to Rhinedottir’s research as well as the seemingly endless adventure the two of you had been on. Thinking back to all those years passed you began to worry that bringing you along might’ve been a mistake. Then again, Rhinedottir never made mistakes.
“Is something the matter?“ Rhine asked in a rotten tone.
You looked at her then quickly averted your gaze.
Fuck.
“No, nothing’s wrong. Just.. tired, but-“
“But what?” Rhinedottir interrupted.
You took a deep breath before gesturing to the only bed in the room. “There’s only one bed..”
Rhine looked at you and then the bed, proceeding to roll her eyes and wave her hands in the air as she groaned.
“Such a childish thing to worry about.” She mumbled to herself.
Moving to one side of the bed Rhine pulled back the covers in one swift movement and looked to you as if to signal you to climb in bed, but you just stood there awkwardly, hands clasped in front of you.
“Quit actin’ like I have the plague.” She snapped.
Rhine gave you a stern look before climbing into bed. You let out a shaky breath as you nervously followed, nearly stumbling over your own two feet. Once you were finally curled up underneath the blankets she put out the lamp on her nightstand, then turned onto her side so that her back faced you. She was right, it was ridiculous to be bothered by something as simple as sleeping in the same bed together. After all, you’d done much worse things than this before.
You tried your best to adjust to the position you were in and get as comfortable as you could, but it was difficult. For every time you moved you could feel Rhine’s cold skin against yours, sending shivers down your spine. Your heart was pounding in your throat and you could feel all the blood in your body travel down to your nether regions. It took everything in you not to whine from the sheer intensity of what you were experiencing. You wanted so badly to pin Rhine down and have your way with her, but you knew how well that would end had you decided to do such a thing.
It was in that instant that you committed yourself to taking care of your little problem after you were sure she’d fallen asleep. Rhine had never been one to snore or make much noise in her sleep so it would be hard discerning just when she’d truly been sleeping, but it was a risk you were willing to take.
A couple hours had passed when you finally decided to make your move. First, you looked around cautiously, looking long and hard at Rhine’s form before determining she was indeed sleeping, before slipping your hand carefully past the band of your pants. You let out a quiet sigh as you started rubbing small circles against your swollen bud, your head feeling increasingly hot as every touch prolonged. As you were getting into the groove of things you’d stopped from time to time to make sure she was asleep before continuing. This went on until you were comfortable doing it without having to monitor Rhine’s state every few minutes.
Everything was going smoothly, too well even, and that suspicion was confirmed upon feeling a hand grab your wrist, and quickly looking up you were met with Rhine’s eyes piercing into yours. Her eyes were filled with the same lust you recognized in your own gaze. She was much more tame and reserved when it came to her carnal desires, or so it seemed, but that did not make things any easier for you.
“If this was all you wanted then all you had to do was ask.” Rhine said bluntly, totally ignoring how utterly ashamed you felt.
You tried to reason with her, say something, even push away her heavy hand, but she was stronger than you. She managed to grab both your wrists and pin them above your head as one of her hands traveled past the band of both your pants and underwear, and used two fingers to lightly circle your bud which was aching with desire. You gasped at the feeling of her skin against one of your more sensitive spots, biting your lip to suppress the moans that threatened to escape your throat.
Rhine removed the hand that held your wrists to grab your face, circling your clit faster. “Relax and quit fighting it.” She paused to kiss you passionately, pulling away just as you were about to kiss her again. “I know you want it.”
God, you hated how right Rhinedottir was. You had wanted it for a long time. Had it been years? Decades? Centuries? You had lost count a long time ago, but that didn’t make the yearning lessen even a little. Even in your dreams the sight of her caused you to become weak. It was unlike you. You weren’t weak by any means, even Rhine could attest to that, and of all people she would know, but something about Rhine nearly sent you into hysterics each and every day, and that night in bed with her did not help in the least. You knew this meant practically nothing to Rhine, if anything she probably didn’t even bat an eye at your want for her.
Regardless, you found yourself writhing underneath her, falling for her with every kiss she pressed against your neck. She was alluring and deadly, like a poisonous frog that lured you in with its beautifully bright patterns. Every touch was electric, magnetic. It wasn’t until Rhine pulled your pants off of you completely and slipped two fingers inside of you that you realized just how fucked you were. Her skin was intoxicating already as was, but as you felt her finger you slowly, building up into a quicker pace, you noticed you were experiencing more than just lust. There was passion, loyalty, and then of course obsession.
As Rhine fingered you through your loud whimpers and caressed your warm face you felt yourself start to melt into her touch. How embarrassing it would be to lose yourself in front of the person who’d taught you everything you knew. Would it be another thing for her to teach you? You wondered, but your ponderings were shut out from your mind the minute you felt yourself being stretched out further. She’d added another finger no doubt, and taken total control as she fucked you at a fervent pace.
“Please.. It’s too much.” You whined, but she ignored you.
Rhine said nothing as she effortlessly curled her fingers inside of you, hooking up into that exact spot, and brought you to your eventual release. Out of instinct you covered your mouth to quiet your voice, but Rhine quickly ripped them from you.
She looked at you with an intense gaze. “You’ll stop that if you know what’s good for you.”
It was shameful that those were the words that finally caused you to relax and fully embrace your high. You let out a pathetic whimper as your face twisted in pleasure, your body overwhelmed with pure euphoria. You felt ashamed for moaning in contentment as Rhine fucked your cum back into you with three fingers. She watched with an unreadable expression as your back arched and body shuddered from her touch. After a few lazy pumps inside of you she slowly pulled her fingers out of you and looked at you with a stern expression.
“Open.” She said, holding up three fingers covered in your cum.
You hesitated for a moment before moving in to wrap your mouth around her fingers. Looking up at her you sucked and swirled your tongue so as to gather up every last drop of your cum, and it was then that you noticed a side to Rhine that you hadn’t seen before. It was brief but you saw how her eye twitched slightly and the way she averted her eyes from yours did not go missed by you. She was embarrassed, and you enjoyed it. You wouldn’t say anything. No, you couldn’t ruin her pride, but it was a fact that you could at least relish with yourself.
Looking at Rhine you smiled softly, which quickly earned you a roll of her eyes and a groan as she got back underneath the covers. She said nothing, only turning on her side, back to you as she willed herself back to sleep in hopes that a night of rest could help her forget whatever the fuck had just happened. But you? You would not forget, no amount of time could ever erase the memory of what occurred that night. Laying back down you turned your back to her as well, smiling and holding your hands close to your chest as you thought about how her cold skin turned warm against yours.

Y/n let out a forlorn sigh as she stared out the window. Below the alchemy tower the knights were training, and she was leaning against the glass to watch. Somewhere behind her she heard a much more irritated sigh as Rhinedottire watched her friend stalk the Captain from their window. She let it continue as she finished separating the petals from the flower stems.
“Enough ogling, back to work,” the chief alchemist said as the last petal settled into the small basket.
Her voice startled Y/n, making her jump and scurry back towards the work bench.
“I wasn’t ogling,” she muttered, picking out a stem and ground it down with petals from a different flower.
Rhinedottire watched her fellow alchemist pummel the ingredients with a flush on her face. Y/n scraped down the mortar and dumped its contents onto a piece of paper.
“Is he shirtless today?”
“Gold!”
The woman laughed as she took the paper and folded it over, setting it under a book to press the paste down.
“Well? Is he?”
Y/n didn’t make eye contact as she removed the heavy recipe book and unfolded the paper. She picked up a ruler and began sectioning the paste into squares.
“Yes…”
With a faint smile, the chief alchemist slowly nudged the basket of flower petals towards the edge of the work bench. The woman’s smile widened when Y/n looked at her in confusion, and she held eye contact as she pushed the basket off the edge. Y/n’s eyes widened as the petals fluttered across the floor.
“Oh no…” Rhinedottire deadpanned, picking up the basket. “I knocked over those petals we needed, Y/n, be a dear and go pick some more.”
“Gold, no, come on.”
“I have no idea what you mean, you make it sound like I’ve asked you to do something absurd. Now, I believe those flowers are planted near the training grounds. Take your time, you might have to root around the bushes a bit.”
With a groan, Y/n grabbed the collection basket that Rhinedottire had previously used and left the workshop. As she got closer to the base of the tower, she could hear Captain Dainsleif coaching some knights through a sparring match and the sound of wooden swords hitting each other. She pushed open the door, wincing at the bright light.
Y/n followed the garden path on instinct as she watched the knights train. Dainsleif was correcting someone’s form when out of the corner of her eye, Y/n realized she was being watched. Halfdan smiled at her, waving discreetly, and then focused back on his Captain.
“Captain Dainsleif, sir!”
“Yes?”
“Perhaps a demonstration would be valuable?”
The alchemist tripped over her own feet, letting out a startled yelp and catching the attention of the training knights.
“Sorry, tripped on a rock.”
Y/n pointedly looked away, clearing her throat.
“I suppose a demonstration wouldn’t hurt,” Dainsleif said.
As Halfdan prepared to go against the Captain, Y/n stepped over the garden border and settled down facing the training area. She began to part the bushes, looking for any remaining flowers, occasionally peaking up at the match.
Y/n would never understand why the alchemy tower was beside the training court, but she definitely couldn’t complain. When she wasn’t submerged in research, she’d taken to watching the knights train. It was purely out of a fascination with the strength they demonstrated, getting to ogle Dainsleif was just a benefit.
Looking up once more, Y/n caught Dainsleif tripping Halfdan up causing the elite soldier to land on his butt while the Captain pointed the wooden training sword at his throat. Both of them were breathing heavily, and Y/n found herself staring at the way Dainsleif’s back muscles moved with each breath.
“I yield,” Halfdan panted out.
“You did well.”
Dainsleif extended a hand to his friend and helped him up. The second the Captain turned even slightly in her direction, Y/n looked back down.
With only a handful of smaller flowers, Y/n picked the basket back up and stepped out of the garden. Y/n was halfway back to the tower door when a second pair of footsteps joined her.
She looked back to find Dainsleif jogging to catch up with her.
“Hello Y/n.”
“Hi Dain,” she smiled, stopping and turning to face him.
Behind him, Y/n could see the rest of the knights distractedly cleaning up. One of the knights caught her eye and immediately rushed off.
“I noticed you’ve been watching our training sessions recently.”
“You what?” Y/n’s voice broke, and she cleared her throat awkwardly.
Dainsleif pointed up at the window where Rhinedottire was currently standing. The woman smiled and waved before disappearing back into the workshop.
Y/n cursed herself for not realizing that she was also being watched.
“It’s really not all that high up, but I digress. I wanted to ask if you’d be interested in some one-on-one training.”
The alchemist choked on her own spit.
“Why-why offer that?”
“Well, I’ve been meaning to offer for a while, but I wasn’t sure how interested you would be. After all, I would hate a repeat of our first meeting.”
Y/n felt her teeth grind in annoyance. Their first meeting had not been her finest moment as he’d been escorting her to collect some ingredients and had to save her from a small slime. It was definitely embarrassing, especially when Dainsleif had approached her the next evening at a tavern by calling her slime food, but it had sparked an almost more embarrassing crush.
“I guess some self-defense training wouldn’t hurt.”
“Excellent, how does tomorrow afternoon sound?”
“I’ll have to make sure Gold doesn’t need me, but that should work.”
Dainsleif smiled, and Y/n felt her stomach flip.
“Then I’ll come by tomorrow, please enjoy the rest of your day.”
“You too.”
Y/n watched him return to the knights and put his shirt back on, the realization that he’d been half naked during that conversation causing her face to heat up, before heading back up to the workshop.
She’d barely stepped into the room when Rhinedottir addressed her.
“I don’t need you tomorrow afternoon, don’t worry, so enjoy your date.”
“I knew you must have done something,” Y/n huffed, dropping the mostly empty basket onto the table. “Hope it was worth the wasted flowers.”
“You can consider my repayment an invitation to the wedding.”

(My grammar sucks so sorry in advance).
*this is my work from wattpad :D I'm not gonna post the OC descript or any images. Skip directly to Teyvat chapters if you wish :D

Chapter 1 - The Crimson Witch
Italic- thoughts
No! Please. Please wake up! Barbatos...please save him. I beg you...
"Rostam... Look at me, open your eyes. Please, it's over..."
You twiddled your fingers as you stared at Rosalyne strangely from a distance. It's such a pity that she died in Inazuma. Everything wants to kill you in that place, how the hell do people survive there? "Barbatos, I beg you." The woman sobbed, crumbling beside her lover.
"Miss Rosalyne, we've already checked his pulse. It's not there." Wrong move mister, wrong move. Her tear-filled eyes met with the knight's eyes. "Where is Barbatos? Surely he can save him?" She was met by the cold silence. You marveled at her from a random knocked-down barrel, the breeze mixed with blood and swayed her hair as she kneeled amongst the battlefield beside her lover. Her scholar uniform was stained with blood from interactions with dead bodies.
"Where is Arundolyn? Bring me to him!" She screamed. "Miss Rosalyne, he's severely wounded-" Rosalyne screamed even louder, clutching her head. She's deranged in a beautiful way. "No. Why? Why!" She whispered brokenly. You shifted your spot slightly, you could already feel small heat waves coming off from her. "She's going to go crazy soon." You muttered, checking your phone. Ah, Shit. No battery "When the hell is that portal going to pop out again?" you grumbled. It's been quite a few days since you've been in Teyvat. You literally had to save up your battery and camp outside. "I literally didn't finish my homework." After she gets batshit crazy, she's gonna ruin Monstadt, set it on flames, and get recruited by Pierro. I wonder if Khaenri'ahn's descendants are still chilling around. I mean some of them definitely survived. Meeting them would be cool, like imagine if I met Rhinedottir. And imagine if Lumine or Aether has already become the Abyss prince or princess.
"Who are you?" You yelped from shock as you felt some hair touching your skin. "Uh, Hi?" You gulped as you looked down to your feet. The knights were all tidying up the bodies and cleaning up so nobody noticed Rosalyne moving to you. Rosalyne's eyes narrowed, looking you up and down.
"Um, my name's Y/N." you giggled awkwardly. Her aura was still unbearing, "Rosalyne. Girl, chill. It's not exactly Ven- I mean Barbatos's fault since he was like, asleep during the cataclysm. As for the knights of Favonius and Arundolyn, well Rostam and the Grandmaster lead the war so you can't blame Arundolyn, and I mean a lot of knights died. Plus, I'm pretty damn sure that your lover wouldn't be really happy if you went batshit crazy due to him dying. And like if you wanna have your vengeance or something like that to the knights or citizens- well, I mean he died protecting them so uh yea."
Rosalyne opened her mouth confused. You took notice of this and babbled random things out, "And um, if you see random suspicious people coming up to you to join their cult refuse 'kay? They might like use you or something. Oh, and um, have some candy." You quickly shoved a bag of candy into her hands. My favourite lollipops. You sniffled slightly.
The woman's eyes shot open wide as she stared at you alarmed. "Bro you good? Oh wait, damn I'm disappearing. Wait that's fucking cool." Yup, you were dissipating right in front of your very own eyes.
Long after you disappeared, the platinum blonde finally reacted, "Y/N?" she muttered. Weird name. "I...didn't tell you my name. Barbatos? Asleep? He's indeed unqualified as an archon then, and those warnings...they're oddly specific but of course. Why would I listen to a random stranger who's been stalking me?"
The first thing that you did was to charge your phone. That random ass boar almost stomped on it. And fuck, I'm starving. You were literally living off the kindness of Monstadt citizens like you can fight but a visionless person in Teyvat can't really survive in the wild like you're pretty damn sure some random slime could kill you if it wanted to. They're so damn cute thooo.
A small noise captured your attention as your phone gained one single percentage of power. "Holy shit, it's only been a minute." You gaped at the widgets in amazement. I was there for a week or longer and damn.
After lying down and procrastinating for a long long time on your bed you decided to do your homework. Wtf is this. The hell am I going to do a 60-question paper. Oh, wait, I've got friends.
"Yooooo guys." You were met with two very disgruntled teens. Yvonne sighed, "Girl, it's bloody 12:35, what do you want? Credit card number? Cheque?"
"That's very tempting but I need the answers for the math assignment."
"Wait what." "What."
Yeleris raised a brow. How tf do you raise a brow? "You're supposed to be the smart one here. I was depending on you to do your homework so I could copy it. But then, I don't see why you and I should care since we're still going to get at least an A with our grades so far."
Yvonne gaped, "WDYM THERE'S A MATH ASSIGNMENT?!"
You sighed, "We're fucked if we don't do this, it's like 20% of our grades and I'm pretty sure Yvonne's gonna fail since she skipped like 20 classes alone this term. AND Yeleris, we all know that you're a genius at Science and that includes Physics which is literally Math but with weird ass words."
"Okay, I actually agree with that."
"I DON'T WANNA FAIL!"
"Weeeeell, you wouldn't have to worry 'bout this if you spent less time on shopping sprees and skipping class to do random stuff."
"YELERIS! That's mean."
"Achoo! Damn it, who's cursing me at 12 am in the morning jeez."
Chapter 2 - Wow, a pretty lady
Hello, my name is Skirk.
The rain was absolutely deafening, a black rain signal had already been issued the day before. You loved rainy days, there's no school when the black rain signal is issued. But then, here you are, under a tree for absolutely no reason.
"Where the hell am I?" You gaped at the grassy fields and scorching sun.
You quickly took notice of a teleport waypoint next to you. "Isn't only the traveler able to use this?" Yup. The waypoint was blue even though you definitely did not touch it.
After scanning the area multiple times to make sure that there weren't slimes or hilichurls you finally sat down. You almost got suffocated to death by a hydro slime, if you were a character, you're definitely going to be a level 1 character with the worst stats possible.
It's literally so unfair, like a slime could kill you and they're like the most harmless and cute things ever in the game. Except for the geo slimes, they're hard to kill.
"Holy motherf- ARGH." A fucking boar was charging at full speed and the target was you. "WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU COME FROM?"
After climbing up a tree and killing the boar by throwing random stuff that you could find, you decided to stay exactly where you were. Why? Simple, you could literally see two pyro whopperflowers and a horde of geo hatchlings. Like hell you're coming down the tree.
Why the fuck are they coming closer?! Oh wait shit, they want the fucking boar. Don't look up. Dontlookup. Dontlookup. Oh fuck. As if on cue, one of the whopper flowers noticed you. "Oh hell no."
"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!" You clung desperately to the tree as it started to shake. The whopperflowers were literally burning the tree down and the wretched geo hatchlings were pummelling at the tree.
To your horror, the relentless attacks finally made the tree give out as it fell down, crushing you under it. Immediately, you screamed in pain. "What the hell did I do to y'all?"
Something that you didn't notice was that their attacks stopped the moment you fell to the ground. Suddenly, a shriek interrupted the silence. You whipped your head around, just to see the cryo whopperflower absolutely obliterating the pyro whopperflower. I thought the pyro whopperflowers were the strongest. You looked to your left after hearing screeches and it was chaos.
The hatchlings were killing each other, you saw one of them tearing the other's scale and pulling its eyeballs out brutally. A few minutes ago, they were cooperating to destroy the tree and now they're committing amicicide.
"Holy shit." Although you usually refrain from swearing, this scene made you quite disgusted. They're literally tearing limbs and organs down. You attempted to get the branches off you. "How is a tiny thin tree so bloody heavy?" You sighed, throwing your head up. Holy- "WHEN DID YOU GET HERE?"
Above you, inches away from your forehead was the cryo whopperflower. Seeing that it made no move to attack you, you decided to do the dumbest thing in your life.
You cleared your voice and decided to ask in the babiest, honey covered words that disgusted you that such a sickenly sweet voice could come out of you. "Whopperflower dearie, will you pretty please help me to lift this tree?"
Why the fuck did I just say that. You closed your eyes in dread. I dug my own grave, Yvonne would literally laugh her ass off if she was here.
"Krrr. Krrr." Huh? You hesitantly opened your eyes and to your surprise, the whopperflower was subdividing the tree and it looked quite happy. You stood up slowly, noticing how something slimy stuck onto your shoe. That whopperflower -.
Under your shoe was a dead geo hatchling with icicles imbedded so deep into his impenetrable skin that its scales were cracked and on the verge of peeling, and a few meters away were more geo hatchlings stacked up on each other, some disfigured, some with their organs spilling out and some with their bodies frozen or charred. Next to it was a pyro whopperflower, unlike the others, it was still alive.
It slowly hopped to it's feet- roots weakly. "Krr." The cryo whopperflower's eyes narrowed, shooting icicles towards it. The pyro whopperflower ignored it's half frozen petals and continued to nudge forward until it finally reached you.
"Uh, hi." The cryo whopperflower blocked your view as it growled menacingly at it.
"Yo chill. It's not trying to attack me." You seemed to finally accept the actions of the weird whopperflower as it slowly snuggled into your arms. To your amazement, the whopperflower began to heal almost immediately after touching your arms, only leaving a few minor injuries.OMG.IT'S SO CUTE AND WARM. Oh wait, it's still injured.
You glanced at the cryo whopperflower. "Help me take out the bandage in my bag please." Begrudgingly, the creature fumbled with the zippers and took out the white bandages, slowly wrapping it around the head of the whopperflower.
Suddenly, both whopperflowers got into a defensive stance as they blocked your view once again.
"How interesting."
A girl slowly approached you. "They seem pretty protective don't you think so?" She giving me HSR vibes.
She grinned, her smile not matching her youthful face and lifeless eyes. "Sorry for not introducing myself. Let's start from the beginning. Hello, my name is Skirk."
You gently nudged the whopperflowers away. "Nice to meet you, my name's Y/N."
The name was weirdly familiar and you were pretty sure you've seen her before. "So you saw everything?" You asked, bending down and tearing a jagged scale from the ground. The girl giggled at your horrible choice of weapon. A sword materialized in her hand as she played with it. "You mean... The scene where you're clinging on the tree for dear life and screaming incoherent, inappropriate words? And then falling down from the tree?" She snickered, walking closer and leaning down to your face, watching your ears turn pink. "Then yes, I saw all of that."
She began to shoo the whopperflowers away. "I'm not going to kill some random stranger. So let me talk with her." Skirk then reached out to pull your body up to a standing position. Damn, she's taller than me. "You don't seem to look like someone from Liyue."
You inspected your clothes. Uh-huh, a hoodie and a skirt. To them, I'm wearing stuff even weirder than the traveler. "I'm an adventurer." She probably knows I'm already lying but I've got two whopperflowers that killed a horde of geo hatchlings.
"I'm just an apprentice that's in Liyue in search of some geohatchlings and I was about to take these until the cryo whopperflower killed all of them." She sighed, "You wouldn't mind if I took these would you? Don't fret, I'll exchange something in return." So basically, I'm getting something for free. "Do you have any uh, weapons?" You bit your lip. Yes, you couldn't fight anything to save your life but having a weapon was still better then fighting with absolutely nothing.
Skirk looked taken aback. "You don't know how to fight?" She asked incredously. "Yeah? Is it not normal." She blinked, "Everyone is taught to fight, some people even start from as young as four!" So, I'm weaker than a toddler. Damn. "I- You know what, I'll give you a catalyst completely free of charge since you absolutely have zero fighting skills. Now pick something else before I make up my mind."
Sugarmommy vibes.
In the end, you got a catalyst, an electro crystal and a bag that had infinite capacity.
Skirk left a few minutes ago to go aboard a ship to snezhnaya, saying something about meeting her apprentice. So now you were all alone with two very worried whopperflowers.
"Krrrrr. Krr." The two of them circled around you, lifting your arms to see if Skirk had harmed you. I wanna keep them so bad. "I have to leave anytime soon man." They deflated almost immediately, their petals drooping down. I'm feeling so bad now. Please don't do this to me man.
You cleared your throat. "Okay, listen up. I don't know when I'll come back and where. It could be hundreds of years or tomorrow but if you see me, ya'll can have my hairbands so tie them around your petal or something and I'll know that it's you ok? I'm pretty sure you guys respawn every now and then so it'll be ok." They perked up and began to tie their petals with your smiley face hairbands. Why they look so cute with it.
"Now come and watch the sunset with me."
Chapter 3 - Text Buddies
(very short chapter)
Approximately 13 minutes ago, you decided to do the Fontaine Archon quest since you completely forgot about it until you remembered that Skirk seemed to have her debut somewhere in there.
Picture your shocked face when you saw the way that Skirk casually yeeted Childe into some random portal.
Considering that she mentioned that Childe's her apprentice, she went to Snezhnaya to visit Childe, and considering that she looked like she was in her early teens when you met her, it's definitely been at least 3-4 years after she met you that she's met the traveler.
I take it back. She could've killed me the second she met me and stole the hatchlings. She wouldn't even need to trade the inventory bag and the catalyst. You checked the catalyst on the web and it was the "Lost Prayer To The Sacred Winds", it was a goddamned 5-star weapon. You were confused at why Skirk would even give you such a precious weapon but you decided that she just thought that you were interesting.
The moment that you touched the catalyst, your phone lit up and opened Genshin. As a firm nonbeliever of ghosts and spirits, you decided it had to be a "you" problem. Seeing that the phone automatically got into the inventory icon, you finally saw your catalyst and electro-crystal in a new category that wasn't named yet.
Purely out of curiosity, you placed the catalyst into the bag that Skirk gave you, and the catalyst's equipped tag disappeared. Oh wait, does that mean that I get to level it up? You immediately leveled it up to lv90. Oh hell no, I'm in the character menu. Right above your team was you, however, it was just a blank circle with your name on it. Clicking into it led to your stats, talents, artifacts, etc.
To your relief, your face wasn't on the screen but when you read the stats, you decided that you were truly weaker than a lv5 slime. Okay, Name: Y/N, Max HP: 1000. Okay, better than the traveler, Attack...20?! What?! Defence: 72. Not bad but Idk why I need that. EM: 0, Stamina.. WHAT?! 31?!
You threw a pillow across the room, "WHAT THE HELL? HOW IS THE TRAVELER STRONGER AT LVL1 ?! AND I'M AT LVL 3?!" Something that Genshin has gladly bestowed on you was that your starting point was at lvl 3 whilst everyone else was at lvl 1 but you were still weaker than everyone who's at lvl 1.
"STAMINA 20? I MIGHT DIE FROM LOW STAMINA BY CLIMBING A ROCK OR SMTH?"
"Ooooooh." Holy moly, 1608 attack and 33.1% Crit Rate. Damn. Ilysm Skirk
Ding. 3 Unread messages.
You raised a brow, lol, who uses that app anymore, only old ass people use it, like Zhongli would use it if he had a phone.
The sky has darkened and the bustling city slowly lit up with billboards decorating the skyline. You stretched in front of the brightness, the darkness of your room disappearing as the humongous screens started changing. Mihoyo, that billboard advertisement is expensive asf and you decided to put hsr and not Get Shit Impact?
Ding. 102 Unread messages. Wtf.
Yo.
You finally picked up your phone.
Srry bt dat.
Can you please speak English?
???
I don't understand what you're saying.
Oh I said "Sorry about that"
Lol, sorry.
Anyways, is there anything that you need me for?
From your description, it says "Teyvat here I come"
Oh, that was last year when me and my friends still used this app.
It's quite outdated now, I just update my description whenever I feel like it.
Can you tell me about Teyvat?
I don't understand the things online.

Genshin?
Bro's asking abt Genshin without knowing what it is, did bro just get his/her phone?
Genshin Impact?
Teyvat is the world that exists in the game??
Game?
My bafflement jeeeeez
Yea, Genshin.
Teyvat has 7 nations.
They have like 2 mcs (maincharacters) and the player chooses them and boom, their sibling disappears and they need to find them so they just travel around Teyvat whilst helping random people for no reason
Poor Lumine has traveled half of the world and the gods won't tell her shit. Just leave Aether and his abyss shit and go marry someone or smth. Bro's a prince and you're a traveler, he's living his life in the abyss.
Main characters...
Oh wait, is this some old person who just downloaded this app to find people chat? Oh wait shit, my bad, lemme channel my nonexistent inner angel.
Oh, sorry, I should've explained more clearly. :)
You see, the two main characters are called Lumine and Aether, they're travelers who go in and out of worlds, but they were trapped in Teyvat because of the Heavenly Principles.
If you're like me and choose Lumine, Aether will become the Abyss prince and wake up a few hundred years earlier than Lumine and go around the world. Then after Lumine wakes up, she fishes out Paimon and begins her journey around Teyvat searching for her brother who she found quickly enough but for some reason Aether wants her to find him after she visits every nation.
That...
Is a nice plot.
You know a lot.
I may have started it just a year ago but I know a lot of lore :D
Thank you.
?
For chatting with me, nobody answered me and only you replied
OMG. I feel bad for this old person,
:D my pleasure XD
I think you need to sleep now.
Good night.
You too!!! Good luck with the game XD
Chapter 4 - Lockdown
The rain poured and the sirens blared, the rain outside had already flooded the first floor of the dormitory.
"I know my luck sucks like hell but come on, we literally just came." Moniqa scowled as she lifted the satin curtains. "They even locked the gates, what, after two days are the winter holidays, they expect us to stay in here?" The strawberry-haired girl tossed her phone onto her bed. "I literally only came here to take my stuff back." Yeleris rolled her eyes, "I don't even have stuff here, like literally. I went to the mall and met Y/N and I brought her back to our dorms since it's cold as fuck out there," she flopped onto your bed sighing, "none of us even live here, it's just registered because of projects."
You peered through the window, the water had almost completely flooded the university and two floors beneath you, you could see several students blocking the doors with sandbags.
"My housekeeper said that only our area is raining." Moniqa's eyes narrowed, "quite weird wouldn't you say? This rain is quite- sudden, wouldn't you say Miss President?"
Your brows furrowed a bit, " Yea, I checked the school group chat, everybody's talking about the weird weather." You turned around, noticing Yeleris in the corner, staring emotionlessly at her laptop. "You're that annoyed? Princessssy?" Moniqa snickered, noticing her expression.
Yeleris stared at Moniqa blandly through her luscious eyelashes. "We're in a lockdown."
Silence. "WHATTTTTTT THEEEE FUUUU- " Yeleris thwacked her head with her laptop. That laptop is hella expensive, its case is limited edition and she bonked Moniqa with that?!
"Hey," you scrolled through your phone, noticing how everything was loading slower and slower. "Is it just me or does the WiFi suck and mobile data ain't doing what it's supposed to be doing?"
Moniqa gazed quietly at you, "I know who might be able to tell us some stuff."
You hurriedly followed her out of the building, hissing as the ankle-length water splattered against your bare thighs. It was freezing cold, the three of you waddled into a nearby dorm building, it was one of the newly renovated ones that had stairs to it and didn't have any sandbags around.
"Who the hell are you- oh, it's Moniqa." you raised you brows at the man that towered over you. "Oh, hello Miss President." you scowled, being the president of several clubs are pretty nice but having everyone call you that even your friends could be a little annoying.
"Is Lorelei here or did she go back home?" He rolled his eyes at the question, "She was planning to leave but the rain got a tad to bit large and she didn't want her eXpeNsive sHoes wet, but yeah, she's in her room, 109 I believe, one floor up."
Thud. Thud. Thud. "Lorelei, it's Moniqa." "..." "Lorelei?" "..." "I'll buy you boba." "...ugh...coming."
A short strawberry-blonde girl greeted you by the door. "You guys are lucky that my roommates aren't here. Get in before I change my mind," She tossed Moniqa a small booklet.
"No snacks?" Lorelei squinted at her, "that's only for new customers."
She turned to you, "Oh, you're new, there's some snacks on your right." You smiled lightly at the short girl, not because of her kindness but because she has that one type of candy you love that the school doesn't sell.
"Ahem, since you're a new customer, I will gladly give you an introduction to my services," she tossed a small bottle of peach juice to you, "I am Lorelei Stirling, sophomore, I basically give people info that they want on people on campus, test results or rankings of everyone, not the normal ones that the school gives you of course, and a ton of other stuff, in or outside school. Ummm, that's pretty much it, I'm the head of my dorm and pretty much everyone in this building helps me in gathering info, so we're like an association that tells you everything the school doesn't tell you and some news outside of school that the public doesn't know."
She smiled sweetly at you, "Of course, things come at a price but for you, Miss President, I'll give you a discount. If you want any info in school, the price range will be $10-250, and outside of school will be $10-400. Anything special? The price will be decided by me. Now how does that sound?"
"WhAt? You told me it was $20-600 for in-school and up to 800 outside?" Moniqa snarled. Lorelei rolled her eyes, "First of all, your cousin pissed me off when I was in freshman and you're loaded which means you don't really care about the price of stuff. And anyways, the quality of my info never changes. If I hated you, I would've given you double the price. You'd like that?"
She turned back to you, smiling, "My phone number is on the bottom of your drink, you can call me when you need my services. But considering that you guys literally waddle here like ducks meant that something went wrong with the wi-fi and the data at the same time right? So please tell me what you want before it reaches the point where you have to swim back to your dorm room."
-...-...- Unknown's pov Somebody's gotten it. It's someone in y/s, the after-effects are growing, I need to find the host. Many things have already been infected with RH-o1, the amount of things that have been leaked will soon make Earth change drastically.
I need to find the diary, quickly, #%^*><\$&%* It has all the leaks, it materialized the moment this world was tainted.
I've been trapped here. We all belong on different paths, one is reality, one is $&@/"-, hopefully, I'll survive, I asked $&":$!(& to help me change how the time flows.
I've just gotten here but every minute feels like decades. My sister is out there somewhere, perhaps the paper that she took gave her a better fate than mine. We don't belong here, before I die, I will send her out. I swore to &&"-).
The sheer amount of rules in this place is driving me insane, if only I was like &&"-), she's insane but her type of insanity doesn't affect her logic and abilities. Why did I have to get the hardest one? Why me?
Chapter 5 - Fish blasting
"Are you sure that she can fix the Wifi?"
Yeleris nodded, eyes glued onto her book.
Moniqa giggled, "Lorelei may be annoying and bratty but she does have the skills that made her the head of her lil association in her sophomore year, my friend told me that two years ago, there was also an association like that one but it was taken down quickly because they dug a bit too deep and the high ranked members were all kicked out of the school. I'm pretty sure one of the high-ranking members who wasn't kicked out was her older sister. I heard that she had some blackmail on the school and she threatened to leak them if they kicked her out."
Ding.
All eyes swiveled onto the pile of devices that were charging in the corner.
Ding,dingdingidndinidgndingd- "SHE DID IT!"Moniqa lunged towards her phone, "FINALLY, I WAS DYING FROM BOREDOM-" Thwack. Yeleris towered over her, "Can you shut up."
You typed a few letters down,
.-.-.-.
Totallynotlazy
Is this Lorelei
Loreleisnotgrumpy
???? Who you?
Totallynotlazy
Y/N, you gave me your number in your room.
Loreleisnotgrumpy
? I wasn't there tho? Do you mean my twin Lorelie?
Loreleisnotgrumpy has added you as your friend
Totallynotlazy's name has been changed to Y/N
Loreliesnotgrumpy's name has been changed to Lorelei
Y/N
Can you give me some info on the rain?
It's not normal, in fact, it's kinda acidic?
Lorelei
WhAt?
I mean sureee but I need some time since, yk it literally just rained. Btw, I'll give you the price after I get the info because I'm actually nice and Lorelie told me to give u a discount so just wait for my messages.
Btw, how'd you know it's acidic?
Y/N
Me, Yeleris, and Moniqa had to go to your dorm because of the Wifi not working to ask you to get it fixed but as you said your twin was there and she fixed it for us.
Lorelei
Huh, Yeleris and Moniqa? They only came to me once and I never told them my dorm number and Anthony wouldn't tell random people my dorm number. Ig that your roommates had deals with my twinny rather than me.
Y/N
Prob. Anyways, when we got back, our skin was red and some bits were bleeding and I tested the PH.
Lorelei
Hmmm. I'll get you some info by the end of this week, I'll give Lorelie your number. Don't tell random people about Lorelie though, she's a bit bratty and hates a lot of people, and she likes acting like me. She'd get angry if people knew that she was pretending to be me
Y/N
Ok, tysm
Lorelei
Have fun XD
.-.-.-.
The lovely violet sky was soon covered in a sheen of eerie red, after effects of the blood rain. The WiFi had stopped multiple times in the last few hours, only recovering due to the twin's perseverance of fixing the WiFi for the enormous amount of money they were given by hundreds of people.
The power outs were so frequent that the night became very dark, only a few gleams from torches and phones, and soon you drifted into a deep sleep, unaware of your surroundings.
Patter. Patter. A silhouette was outlined by the faint moonlight. "Y/N...The time isn't right yet. You weren't supposed to have visions yet. Why did I have to be the only one in the dorm that's reincarnated? The apocalypse is in a year but since you've gotten your powers so early, does that mean that the timeline has been messed up? Lorelie wasn't supposed to be there too. Has she reincarnated? Perhaps transmigration? A time traveler?" The girl muttered.
"The rain, it's supposed to be acidic in a few days, the acidity is also stronger. What's happened? The future is changing. Butterfly effects, if I can come back, others can come back too. My sister is still finding the records of the apocalypse, we would all die without the records..." The figure opened your phone, "Genshin...maybe the world of Teyvat has something to do with all of this as you were in Teyvat for a year or two, but- who's this?"
-.-.-.
"Y/N WAKE UP." Moniqa shrieked as she woke you up. I finally wasn't in Teyvat, Moniqa scared the shit out of mee. "What?"You stretched happily, "Bro! It's raining fucking blood!" WHAT THE FUCKKKKKKKKKKKK You rushed to open the window. You cautiously placed a small cup outside the window. "Hey." Yeleris beckoned the two of you to the TV. '
"It's global." "No shit, Sherlock." You took the cup out and closed the window once again. "The rain here seems a lot darker than the TV." You turned to Moniqa, "Moni, you have a lot of small seedlings you got from the gardening club right? Add some of the rainwater in one, I want to see something."
~time skip~ (2days)
"Pretty sister! Pretty sister! Are you ok?" You rubbed your bleary eyes. The loli smiled down at you, "Pretty sister, are you ok? Klee was soooo worried about you." she smiled innocently at you, cherry pink eyes glinting under the morning rays.
"Hello Klee, I'm fine." You sat up, "Sweetie, where are we?" The girl laughed, clapping her hands together, "Is pretty sister a visitor? This is Cider Lake!" She grabbed your hand and pulled you towards the water.
She's unbelievably strong... "Since pretty sister is a visitor, Klee will show you around Mondstadt and we can go fish blasting with Dodoco!!!"
"Klee?" You poked her weakly, "Is something wrong pretty sister?" You pointed behind you, "You sure you want to do it in front of the city?"
You've woken up after you and Klee blasted the majority of the fish population of Mondstadt. At first, it was only Cider Lake, but she soon decided that it wasn't enough and she started putting bombs all over the nation, one on some poor lad's roof in Springvale, one besides the anemo hyptostatis, one near the statue of seven and a lot of other places that you couldn't remember. It was only until a knight of Favonius saw Klee putting bombs in a merchant's stall did you leave. You did not want to be brought to Jean, so you hid on top of a tree as Klee was dragged away. She made a heart in the end which quite literally melted your heart and soul into a puddle.
The next few days passed like a flow, the rain never stopped but day by day, the water had slowly turned back to it's usual colour, in fact, the small samples of rainwater collected before slowly turned transparent just like the rain.
It wasn't until eight days later did you notice something was too eerie with the rain.

Late working hours.
albedo x reader <33
c/w: very fluffy, comfort, sleepy reader, overworked albedo, cuddling, the reader is a girl, no use of y/n, mentions or Rhinedottir
a/n: my first fanfic here!! sorry for any mistakes, english isn’t my first language.
He carefully opened the door, doing his best not to make a sound with a bunch of keys he held.
It was already dark outside for a few hours, but the night was warm. That was a nice difference from Dragonspine’s coldness, that he had just returned from. Normally, he’d stay there and keep doing reasearch, sleep for maybe an hour and continue, but right now he would do anything to spend every single night in a certain warm bed, in Mondstandt.
He laid down the keychain on the table, doing it as slowly as he could, worried, that if they land on the wood too abruptly it might create a thud so loud, even the dead would wake up.
The light wasn’t turned on too. Not even a single candle lit up in the house. Only the moon shining through the see-through blinds in the living room. This made reaching his destination even harder, because despite being made of chalk, he doesn’t have cat eyes. Who knows, maybe with his potions he’d be able to make his eyes glow in the dark, just for the sole purpose of getting into a bed safely after blowing out the candles?
The blonde made his way upstairs, miraculously not tripping and falling down like an idiot. Rhinedottir might’ve raised him to be perfect with alchemy, but nothing can save a man from tripping over like an idiot. His muscles were just as tired as he was, after doing all the work today. He has done much more than he intended, now suffering the consequences of overworking himself.
In this room, the moon was shining a bit more. Revealing a curled up figure sleeping soundly in the bed. The girl’s vision lied on the night table, briefly lighting up the small things around it. Albedo looked at her for a solid few seconds, that felt like hours, realising how much she changed his life over the past year. For the better of course.
He took his coat off, placing it on the hanger, not worrying about jingling keys anymore. He changed quickly into a simple pijamas, consisting of a spare white shirt and a pair of shorts. Ideal for warm nights just like this one.
Albedo got closer to the night stand, standing over the bed for a minute while un-doing his side braids. Just now he realised how truly tired he was. Suddenly, a wave of tiredness washed over him, making him struggle to keep his heavy eyelids opened. Now, he had only one goal to accomplish, and no, it wasn’t alchemy related. Basically, joining the sleeping girl right beside her. He noticed how she fluttered her sleepy eyes when he was struggling with a knot in his hair. She must’ve heared him on the stairs, or opening the door. She definetly knew he finished everything he needed and now was desperately wanting to just lie down. After all, this wasn’t the first time he got home late.
The blonde was just about to lie down, but a thought appeared in his head, to maybe go down to the kitchen, just to get a glass of water just in case one of them wanted a sip at some point.
He took a step to the door, when a gentle hand grabbed his arm. It barely held it, muscles relaxed from the sleep.
- and where do you think you’re going.. - the girl whispered, not pleased with his desicion to go anywhere.
- go to sleep darling, i’m gonna get some water for us. - he explained with a calm voice.
- ….fuck..that water. - she said, fighting her sleeping state. With that, she tugged on his arm gently, which was a very important decision-making aspect for Albedo. Well said, screw that glass of water.
He got into the bed, where he instantly relaxed under the duvet and sunk into the soft mattress. His first instinct, was to hug the girl from behind, per usual. Of course he’d be the big spoon, and not because of the height difference or her preference. He loved the idea of protecting his loved ones, whether it would be in a fight or simply holding their hand just to give him a peace of mind. Because he took care of his little sister so well, it became his silly little duty to do everything in his power to protect the most important people in his life. The unconcious girl being on top of the list.
The blonde embraced her softly, feeling the warmth of her skin spread to his own. This was the most perfect of all ways to fall asleep. Feeling the safest in the world, in the most comfortable place he’d be able to think of, with his favorite person. All or his worries, plans and thoughts dissapeared right there in this very moment. It felt as if he fell asleep right at the moment his head fell onto the pillow.
Could you imagine, a man made of not blood, but chalk feeling butterflies in his stomach someday? A warm sensation forming inside of him slowly, turning into a little comforting tingle in his brain? Well, I’d say it’s not something that his creator could’ve ever considered. However, this is the exact way of how she made him feel.

Je T’aime 2
Summary: Ever since y/n, princess of Khaenriah, was a child, there have been oddities surrounding her rule. She is sent letters every year on her birthday, laced with encrypted messages from her deceased mother. These letters lead her down a dark path, but with the help of her loyal guard, Dainsleif, she will uncover the truth and bring justice to Khaenriah once more.
Pairings: Dainsleif x f!reader
✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧
The sounds of swords clashing against each other echoed throughout the training grounds. This time of day was around when the trainee knights would practice with one another. Without the supervision of their superiors, the juvenile chevaliers would fight until their swords would break.
Amongst them was a not so fresh recruit, Kaeya Alberich. A very suave young man who’s swordsmanship seemed to trouble the others. He was just that good.
After knocking down another knight, a wooden sword to his neck, he stood tall, offering his hand to the defeated opponent.
“Good work, Luon.” Kaeya smiles, pulling him up.
“Easy for you to say, you’ve beaten over half of us.” Luon brushes off his training sweats which have remnants of dust.
“In time friend, you’ll beat me one day.” Kaeya along with some others begin to laugh.
“Laughing already? What part of training do you find amusing?” Dainsleif appears from behind the group of trainees.
“Always such a stick in the mud, showing up at the worst of times too. We had just finished sparring.”
Dainsleif observes Kaeya, his eyes narrowing, “You may have beaten him, but your form is no better than that of a child. You’re all about the offensive, and never think about what the opponent could do next.”
“The opponent can’t do anything if he’s on the floor and at the mercy of my hand.”
“Your ego will not prove useful in a battle, remember that.”
“I assure you, my ego will be the least of your problems if we are in battle.”
Before Dainsleif could retort, the sound of heels clicking on the stone pathways echoed through the training grounds.
“My my if it isn’t her highness.” Kaeya brushes past Dainsleif and walks over to greet the princess.
“Sir Kaeya,” y/n responds, holding out her hand which he takes and places a delicate kiss, “It’s good to see you.”
“Basking myself in your radiant presence gives me all the confidence I need to win any battle. Isn’t that right, Dainsleif?” Kaeya cranes his head back to glance at Dainsleif, who has his arms crossed in a huff stance.
“Oh, Dain. I didn’t know you were here.” y/n giggles, retracting her hand.
“I advise you to refrain from being so friendly with the princess.” Dain says, almost like a threat.
“Enough with that. I’m glad I found you anyways Dain, I want to remind you that you have to escort me to Lady Rhinedottir’s tea party tomorrow.”
“How could I forget about that? I’ll see to it that you’re escorted, your highness.” Dainsleif bows quickly, before sending a look towards the other trainees, telling them to get back to work.
Many winters have passed since the both of them were tied together, a bond between a princess and her knight. Dainsleif was 17, while y/n 16 going on 17 in a few months. Getting used to each other took a while, but now the both of them were practically inseparable. Albeit a few quarrels happened here and there, but that was nothing new.
✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧
Rhinedottir’s events always had something to look forward to. During the last picnic, one of her creations, she called it a rifthound, got loose and caused a ruckus among the hoard of young ladies that now regret coming to visit. It wouldn’t be surprising if the crowd was smaller this time around, the fear of being attacked was pretty high.
Y/n knew this when she was sent an invitation the week prior. It might have been easy for others to say no, but Rhinedottir was one of her closest friends, and it would be hard to not attend.
The fear mongering might have gotten to the other ladies, for when y/n arrived at the gathering, only a handful of ladies were seated at a small table under the shade of a tree.
“Your highness.” all of them greeted, doing a small curtsey.
“It's wonderful to see you ladies again.” y/n took her seat and began to indulge in the untamed gossip of the upper class.
One of the ladies, Myra, looked rather tense as the gossip began to sped up. y/n took notice of this, her look of uncomfort.
“Is everything alright, Myra?” she asks.
The lady lets out a heavy breath, setting down her cup of tea.
“The maids at my manor were gossiping about something rather…untasteful.”
“Well do share, all of us have been spilling our guts about the things we’ve been hearing.” Rhinedottir giggles.
“Late last night, I was doing some sketches after my curfew hours in the garden. Two maids were walking outside and I heard them talking about the king.”
Y/n didn’t think much of it, gossip surrounding her father was normal. It's not easy being a monarch, even one mistake will be criticized by thousands.
“They started talking about how the royal council wants the king to remarry to duke Carwyn’s eldest daughter.”
This was new, and unexpected. The table fell silent as everyone waited for Myra to continue.
“Apparently they think that your highness is unfit for the throne, and by marrying again, a chance for a son may be possible.”
Now everyone's eyes were on her. What was an afternoon of laughter and nonsense turned serious very quickly.
“F-forgive me your highness. I’m only repeating what I heard.” Myra became flush with embarrassment.
“No, no. I’m glad you told me, I had no idea that the council was planning this. Thank you, Myra.”
The party went on, but y/n was left with a nasty taste in her mouth. She didn’t partake much in conversations after that, nor did she excuse herself to leave, she didn’t want to do anything.
When the sun began to set, the ladies were all escorted back to their carriages. Y/n was saying her farewell to Rhinedottir, who too looked pained.
“Don’t let the words get to you too much, people love you as their princess y’know?”
“Thank you, Rhine. I just need to clear my head.”
“I’m always here if you need to talk. Have a safe trip back.”
Y/n walked out of the gates until she saw Dainsleif standing by the carriages. He visibly sighed when he saw her, and her complex expression.
“I heard what they said.”
She didn’t look into his eyes, all she did was stare at the floor.
“They’re planning on getting rid of me…their own princess.”
“We still don’t know if it's gossip or actually true. You mustn't take it to heart.”
“C’mon Dain, they never approved of my parents marriage, who’s to say that they didn’t approve of me either, since the beginning.”
“Y/n-”
“They probably think I'm some filthy half-blood who was lucky to be born into this position, and now they’re trying to take it away from me. What the hell!”
Dainsleif grips onto her shoulders, standing her up straight and looking directly into her eyes.
“If it is the slightest bit true, acting like this will not help your position. They will think you immature and unfit for the throne, and at worst they will have you exiled as you pose a threat.”
Her hands wind into fists, her nails digging into the skins of her palms. It was so infuriating that the people who she thought she could trust the most were possibly backstabbers. Suddenly her eyes grew wide as she gasped, covering her mouth.
“What’s wrong?” Dainsleif asks in panic.
“My mother…what if they were the reason she died?” her eyes stung slightly, tears could threaten to fall any second.
“That's…that's a reach of speculation.”
“I know it's hard to believe, but hearing that they’re planning on taking the throne away from me…it's not entirely impossible.”
“We cannot keep discussing this here, let’s get you home.” Dainsleif guides her to the carriage, sitting down before closing the door.
The ride home was filled with silence, perhaps y/n had exhausted herself with her small breakdown outside, even she couldn’t tell.
✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧
A few days have passed since the tea party. Y/n was on edge for most of the time, her head spinning with theories that may or may not be true. Her mothers death was never investigated, they just accepted it as it was…a tragedy.
Her mothers personal letters were not of much help either. The past few were just details of how she and Nasir met. She was a commoner, while he was engaged to a princess of another nation. Of course that arrangement didn’t work out, or else y/n wouldn’t be alive.
The nation grieved for the loss of their queen, but how many of those that grieved actually meant it? How many nobles that comforted the king who held his lone baby girl in his arms, actually had ulterior motives?
“I wish to see my father.” y/n says, looking in the mirror as the maids finish with her dress.
“He is in a council meeting, your highness.” One of the maids says.
“That is perfect.”
She steps off the small pedestal and immediately exits the dressing room. The clack of her heels echo across the hall, if her anger were actually physical, she was sure she could melt the floor with every step she took. Was what she was about to do impulsive? Yes, very much so.
“W-we greet her royal highness-” one of the guards of the council room took notice of her, bowing.
“Is my father in there with the other council members?” she asks in haste.
They nod, stepping away, opening the door so she may enter.
With the sound of the door opening, the council stops whatever they were doing and watches as y/n enters.
“Dearest? What’s wrong?” Nasir asks, concerned with the anger radiating off of his daughter.
“There are many things wrong father, number one is your council.”
The council members stare at each other in confusion. Y/n also looks at them, locking eyes with duke Celwyn.
“Duke Celwyn, how is your daughter these days?” she asks.
“She is well, your highness. Why do you-”
“Is she looking to marry, perhaps to someone of a high status, higher than others?”
Before the duke could answer, another person barged into the room.
“Your highness!” Dainsleif, who was told about the princess's abrupt entrance to the council, rushed as fast as he could. He knew what she was going to do.
“What is this, these children are interrupting our meeting. Guards, escort them out.” Viscount Norbin ushers the guards who are standing outside closer with his hand.
“With all due respect Viscount, you have no right to kick me out. I have a bone to pick with you, all of you actually.”
“Your highness, reconsider what you are about to do.” Dainsleif whispers through gritted teeth.
“Father, are you aware that the council is planning on having you remarry to Duke Celwyns eldest daughter, in hopes of having a son to ascend the throne instead of me.”
The room grows quiet, no one says a thing, not even Duke Celwyn.
“Your silence is rather ghastly actually, no one here is going to deny this?”
“Your highness, “ Duke Celwyn says, “I assure you, I have no intention of marrying off my daughter to the king.”
“Why has it taken you this long to speak up, Duke?”
“Because, “ he swallows what seems to be his integrity before speaking again, “you are usually so soft spoken, I was taken aback by this sudden shift of tone.”
“News that threatens my succession to the throne, I think I have a right to have a shift of tone. If this is true, it will not look good for you, all of you.”
“Your highness, gossip like this will truly ruin my character. I suggest you keep whatever you hear to yourself, watch your tongue.” Celwyn slams his hands on the table, standing up with a slight bit of force.
Dainsleif stands in front of y/n, hand on his sword.
“I suggest you sit back down, Duke. Any threat towards her highness, I take seriously.”
“Father, I have a request. I wish to combine my birthday ball with my crowning ceremony.”
“Outrageous! You are far too young to become the crown princess!” one of the council members exclaims.
“And why is that? Since my father has no intention of remarrying, that means there will be no other heir to the throne other than me. Might as well officialize my right to the throne as soon as possible, no?”
“Your father and his father before him had their crowning ceremony when they were 18, it's only fitting that you would do the same.” a council member says.
“Father?” She stares at Nasir from across the room, waiting for his answer.
“I don’t see the harm in having her be crowned at 17, it is only a 1 year difference afterall.”
Y/n gave her father a smile, it felt like the pressure had been lifted off of her shoulders. After bidding her father a good day, she exited the room with Dainsleif.
After walking into another corridor, both of them were finally alone. Dainsleif grabs her wrist to stop her from walking.
“What were you thinking?” He asks.
“I’m making sure my position is official, after I’m crowned they will not be able to take it from me, no matter how hard they plan and scheme.”
“Do you realize what you just did, you just put a target on your back. If they can scheme a remarriage behind his majesty's back, they can surely plan an assassination behind yours.”
“Nonsense Dainsleif, they wouldn’t have the guts to kill a princess.”
Dainsleif stops and looks into her eyes, “You say that yet you hypothesize that they killed your mother.”
“It was just a silly thought at the moment, it’s not possible.”
Dainsleif sighs, knowing that she is too stubborn to realize the can of worms she just potentially opened.
“Very well, but do me a favor. Do not go out alone, call for me and I will escort you. Until the day you are crowned, you might be in potential danger.”
“Ahaha, you already follow me around everywhere. Look how fast you came rushing into the council room, I know you’ll be there.”
She winds her hand out of Dainsleifs grip, going on her way down the corridor. He could not understand how naive she could be.
✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧
Combining a birthday ball with a crowning ceremony proved difficult when it came time for preparations. Both were major events that needed their own time to shine, so being pushed together into just one day meant that preparations had to be accelerated.
“The first half will be your birthday celebration, you will wear a gown designed by madam Darnley. The birthday dinner will be set during the afternoon.”
Y/n and the royal event planner were taking a walk in the royal gardens. Dainsleif of course followed 5 steps behind.
“There will be a brief pause where you will go get changed for your crowning ceremony. It is a dress that your great great grandmother wore when she was crowned.”
“I’m going to wear a dress that old?” she questions, the fashion styles back then aren’t exactly most suitably to wear.
“The dress will be altered to fit your measurements along with some more alterations that will suit it to the current taste of modern fashion.”
“Very well then, who will be attending the ceremony?”
“The royal families of all 8 kingdoms will be attending, as well as nobles.”
“So many eyes…”
“No worries, your highness, you will have plenty of time to practice what you need to do.”
The planner left, leaving the two behind.
“Are you sure you’ll be able to handle your responsibilities?” Dainsleif asks.
“What responsibilities, I just need to be graceful and look pretty.”
“You’re joking right?”
“Of course I am, I know that there will be more expected of me once I become crowned. I’m sure I’ll be able to manage, after all this will be my kingdom one day.”
✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧✧.·:*¨༺♚ ༻¨*:·.✧
It was the day before the ceremony, the royal guests arrived in their carriages, all fraternizing with each other. Both Nasir and y/n extended their welcome as they came. Not all of the royal families had children, but for the small handful that did, y/n took full advantage.
“Your grace, it's wonderful to see you again!” y/n extender her hand to the man standing in front of her, which he took and laid a gentle kiss.
“I did miss seeing your face dear princess, how have you been?”
Ayato, one of the most influential Dukes of Inazuma . Both of them met a few years back when both him and his sister came for a visit for the king's birthday.
“I’ve been well, it’s wonderful to see you again. Did Ayaka come with you?”
“Not this time unfortunately, she’s ill in bed, but she sends her congratulations. Hopefully the both of you will have some time together when she is well.”
Ayato extends his arm slightly, to which y/n wraps her own around. They begin to walk into the palace, followed by the other nobles.
Dinner that night went as well as it could. Y/n excused herself not too long into the dinner. She was halfway down the corridor before she heard Ayato calling out to her.
“Are you alright, your highness?”
“Your grace,” she looked surprised, ‘I’m fine, I just needed some air. I was planning on taking a walk in the royal rose gardens.”
Y/n contemplated for a second before asking, “would you like to join me?”
“Well I suppose my dinner could wait, a lady should not be walking this late alone.”
He walked up to her, arms entangled once more. When they began to walk, y/n thought back to what Dainsleif said to her. She wasn’t venturing off alone, she was with Ayato, it would be safe.
After walking for a bit, both sat down on a bench that was surrounded by bushes.
“We’re not too far from the palace.” she says, turning her neck to glance at the tall building across the garden.
“Well we’re far away for no one to see us.” Ayato chuckles
“I suppose so…”
The air was silent around them.
“May I ask you something, your highness?”
“Of course, what would you like to know?”
“Why is it that you chose to get crowned so early? Usually the crowning ceremony is when the person is of age.”
Her lip quivered slightly. It’s not like she can flat out say that the royal council was threatening to take away her right to the throne. What excuse could she come up with now?
“Well, I just wanted to change the rules slightly. The quicker the better I say.”
“Surely you know there will be backlash, correct? When the nobles of Inazuma heard about it, many of them thought you weren’t right in the head.”
“Is that so…” she looked down at her lap, nails digging into the wooden bench.
Perhaps she really did rush things when she didn’t need to. Her impulsive behavior, what could it have caused? If the nobles of Inazuma frowned upon her behavior, what could her own people of Khaenriah think?
Ayato's hand gently laid upon hers.
“No matter your highness, I think what you’re doing is brave. Going against the rules and having it your own way, not everyone has the ability to do that. Fear of backlash and whatnot.”
“Do you support my decision, your grace?”
Ayato smiled, but he remained silent.
“Your grace?” she asks once more.
Ayato’s bright blue eyes turned disky, almost gray. His smile fainted, his face looked like it was lifeless.
The warmth that was radiating from his hand turned cold, it made her heart skip a beat.
“Ayato, are you alright?” she asks, grasping his face within her hands. His skin was cold.
“Wha-” she looked around her, there was a gray smoke enveloping the floor. Immediately she stood up, Ayato's body collapsing on the ground right after.
From the smoke that came from a dark area of the garden emerged a tall figure, shrouded in black and blue. A mask that covered their entire face, with blades wrapped around their arms.
“What are you?” she asks, her voice ever so quiet.
“Threats against the abyss must be terminated.”
The voice coming from the figure sounded deep and frightening. The blades around the tall figure began to glow a bright blue. The figure swung his arm, shooting projectiles towards her.
She let out a scream, ducking for cover. As soon as she made contact with the ground, she began to cough. Soon enough, she covered her mouth. This gray smoke could very well be the reason why Ayato fell to the floor.
Still covering her mouth, she began to sprint as fast as she could, but it was dark. It's as if that thing took all the light from the area when it came. No matter, if she kept running she’d run somewhere, more preferably the palace, more preferably to someone who could help.
“You cannot resist, your efforts to run are in vain.” the figure could be heard from so far away.
She kept running and running, but she could not see what was in front of her. Her foot snagged on the root of a tree, causing her to plummet to the ground once more. Her breathing became heavier, she could not calm down. She got on her knees and crawled until she felt something solid, the tree.
She sat down with her back to it, hand still clamped over her mouth. Her breathing was so loud, that creature could surely hear it if it wanted to. She wanted to cry, her foot was in pain, and no matter how many times she rubbed over it, the pain would not go away.
The area grew quiet, too quiet. Did the figure go away? Could it not find her? Even with all of these thoughts trying to reassure her, she would still not move, not if there was still darkness surrounding her.
After a few moments of solace, a cold wind brushed against her skin. When she turned her neck to look she was face to face with the figure.
Its blade began to glow once again. She had nowhere to run now that her foot was injured.
“Please don’t hurt me, I didn’t do anything!” she pleaded, now a crying mess.
“Your lineage is stained by bloodshed, neither you nor your kin is innocent of any crimes.”
As the figure was about to strike her, she closed her eyes, letting out a bloodcurdling scream. However nothing seemed to pain her.
When she opened her eyes, she saw that the figure itself was struggling. A bright blue aura around its neck, suffocating it. Suddenly it was hoisted into the air and slammed onto the ground.
Blinking away her tears, she saw the figure of her savior. It was Dainsleif.
The unknown figure began to cough, cursing at Dain for interrupting his plans.
“The abyss will prevail, you shall not get in my way again.”
A portal opened in front of the figure, swallowing him. Leaving both Dain and her alone.
She was still in shock, looking at the same spot that the figure disappeared.
“Y/n, are you alright, did he hurt you?” Dain rushed over, she could see him, she could see everything now.
He kneeled down to her, caressing her face. She wrapped her arms around him and sobbed silently onto his shoulder. He noticed that her ankle was red, understanding that she was in more pain than he realized. He put his arm underneath her legs, carrying her while she still had her arms around him.
“A-Ayato, he collapsed near the bench.” she said, her words sounding broken.
“I will attend to him after you, we need to get you back to your room.”
“I’m sorry for not listening to you, Dain… there really are people trying to get me, right?”
Her nails slightly dug into his shoulder, but he didn’t wince.
“It's okay, you’re safe.”

Unwavering loyalty → Realization & Resentment | Albedo (slightly x Reader)
Featuring some lyrics from Can't Stand You made by VocaCircus and sung by Gumi
(y/n) knew.
(y/n). Knew. Everything.
They knew everything about his creation, subject two, Khaenri'ah, Rhinedottir.
They. Knew. Everything.
How could he still be hopeful that she'd come back, how can he still talk good about her? How can he STILL look up to her and idolize her?!
He was abandoned… and yet he still hoped she'd return.
But what would happen.. if she returned and demanded he go with her.. after he gained an attachment to them… AFTER he falls in love?
They had an experiment, and it was forever on going ever since he met them.
He knew of (y/n)'s origins. (y/n) was like Lumine, not from this world. They were isekai'd, as they put it. They were transported from their universe to Teyvat.
"'Bedo, I have a question." (y/n) said one day while in the Alchemy Shop with the blonde. "Yes?" He hummed in response, "Do you still… think she's coming back?" They asked, "she???" "Rhinedottir…. Do you hope that she'll come back one day?" They asked, causing the prince to pause. "..." He stayed silent for a moment.
"Y….yes" He nodded slightly, "why?" They asked, "because… she never said she wouldn't be back… I.. I didn't do anything wrong- I think.." He said, "she'll be back, one day… I hope…" Albedo added softly, "Why? Why do you hope she'll be back? What are you wanting to happen?" They asked, looking at him directly.
"I… Because I miss her. I hope she'll come back so she can teach me more, there has to be more I can learn from her.. I hope she'll come back and.. and ask me to join her on adventures again." He said with a small smile, he missed going on adventures with her.
"And leave those you care about? Leave me? And most of all, leave Klee?" (y/n) asked, making him rethink. "I know you, for some reason, still care about her.. but think about it. She abandoned you without even a goodbye, only a note. She was gone when you woke up-" "she did not abandon me." "Yes, she did. She abandoned you without hesitation. She said she'd abandon you if you messed up, you knew she'd keep that promise. You did your best not to fail, you didn't fail and yet she still left you behind to go do God knows what." They said, their words were harsh but true.
"She didn't leave me behind! Maybe… maybe she had some business to attend to that was more dangerous…" "and have you go to mondstadt and stay there ever since?" They countered, "Well… yes… Maybe she knew she'd be gone a while and didn't want me to wait or look for her.. maybe she'd go looking for me once she's done!" Albedo said hopefully. "Why? Why do you still care about her? Why do you still love and look up to her after all the shit she's done to you? She'd traumatized you and you haven't even realized it yet." They said, "she did not traumatize me! She may have left but she's still basically my mom!" He snapped, "Just because someone is blood related doesn't mean you have to love them." "She raised me!" "Just because someone raised you doesn't mean you have to love them." They said.
"She loves me-" "really?" "Yes!" "Really and truly??" They pressed, "what are you getting at?! Are you just wanting to start an argument? I know you like watching drama and arguing when bored but seriously there are better people to argue with! Like one of the fatui set up in Mondstadt!" Albedo said, he was starting to get irritated. That's a new record.
"You said she loves you. If she loved you, would she have left you without saying goodbye? If she loved you, why didn't she say it?" They asked, "she's not the affectionate type, obviously-" "nor am I! I'm the least affectionate person, but even I say I love you when it's needed!" They said with a sigh, taking a breath.
"Albedo, I love you. I love you with all my heart, and you know this. But I'm going to speak my mind truthfully, and not even sugarcoat it because I know you have the maturity and intelligence to understand and take what I'm saying. You know I speak nothing but the raw truth when it's needed, these are one of those times." (y/n) said, closing their eyes momentarily, and then opening them before they spoke.
"She doesn't love you. She never loved you. This is the cold hard truth. It may be hard to accept, but it's something you need to hear. I don't like seeing you have false hope for something that's never coming true. She never loved you, she created you for the sole reason of serving her. Serving as an assistant for her. You're just a step up from the first one she deemed 'a failure'. She was going to throw you away next anyways. She was nothing but strict on you, she never gave you affection, all she was was harsh on you. Cold. She wanted nothing but perfection from you, and that's not healthy. No one can be perfect, not even artificially made beings." They said, taking a breath before continuing. "She threatened to abandon you if you gave her anything less than perfection. You had to succeed ALL the time. There was no room for failure. That's the opposite of healthy. Failure is how you learn, if you don't make mistakes then you can't learn. You get better because you fail. But she didn't want that. She expected you to make no mistakes, to be her golden child. You are the physical embodiment of the golden child of the family that was put in the gifted program back in my world. That's not a good thing. It seems amazing at first, because those in gifted are smart and excel in school. A lot of kids in gifted could also skip a grade… but once they're out of school, everything goes to shit. They spent all their time focusing on school and studying that they never had a moment for hobbies. Kids who are in the gifted program end up being depressed when they're older because of all the pressure. I could've been in gifted class because of my reading level, all my teachers bragged about my reading. I read a novel that was more of a highschool level when I was around 7 to 8 years old and got almost a 100 on the AR test. Jane Eyre, talkative was the novel and it was a novel my mom had. I found it one night and read it every night until 3 AM in 2nd grade. I was reading books above the small black and white paper books they gave to us in Kindergarten. I used to want to be in gifted because that would mean I was smart.. but now I'm glad I wasn't. Because if I was, I'd have more pressure to succeed and be above everyone else. I wouldn't have time to have fun. You are that child." They said without barely breathing.
He was silent, the cogs in his brain turning and processing everything they said. He didn't have anything to say… because so far… they were right.
"She threatened to abandon you if you failed at anything and yet here we are.. you were abandoned.. and to your knowledge you didn't do anything wrong." They continued, "She never cared. And if she comes back for you… she's going to demand you go with her and leave everyone you love behind. Knowing her personality, if you dared to introduce her to ANY of your friends or… God forbid, me… she's going to ask why you haven't been focusing on Alchemy, she'll be disappointed and she'll shame you for it because how DARE you have your attention on ANYTHING other than Alchemy!" (y/n) said with a sigh, looking at Albedo and crossing their arms.
There was silence for a few minutes, Albedo looking at the floor. "Albedo… you were surprised and wondered why the people of Mondstadt praised you and were amazed at what you could do with Alchemy because 'it was basic alchemy'. No normal person raised correctly wonders why people are praising them over alchemy… what you did- what you do- isn't basic alchemy. I can barely wrap my head around basic alchemy that Sucrose and Timaeus. You were never ONCE praised for your progress. She was never impressed with what you learned. When you showed her what you could do with the ley line branch, which impressed the hell out of me, she said it was impressive. It was basic knowledge. She only ever put you down. You DON'T deserve that, Albedo! You deserve love and respect. Everything that she never gave you. You're so afraid of losing others because of her. You're a perfectionist because of her, perfectionism can be good, but from what I've seen it's ALWAYS tiring. You barely get any sleep, I swear you lack more sleep than me! And that's saying something! You tire yourself until you drop from exhaustion, that is the OPPOSITE of normal! You forget to eat and take basic care of yourself all because of her pushing you farther and farther to succeed! She's been deteriorating you… you avoid getting close to people because you don't wanna lose them like you did Rhinedottir… you don't want to feel hurt and devastated if one of us leaves like Rhinedottir did…" (y/n) kept going, watching Albedo try and hold back tears, trying to make them unnoticeable.
"She never did anything good for you. She hurt you and she hurt Khaenri'ah. She's the reason the Abyss exists. She's the reason all the monsters in teyvat exists… I love you more than words can describe, and that's WHY I'm saying this. Because you DESERVE to hear it, the truth. You shouldn't be waiting for you. She's hurt you, she's never cheered you on! She's the worst mother I've ever seen, save for my grandma on my mom's side." (y/n) finished, watching tears roll down his face.
That false sense of hope, that Delusion he'd built up of Rhinedottir coming back for him was shattered into a million pieces. "..." He stayed quiet for a few more seconds, "I just… hoped…" "I know you did, but you don't deserve to have that false hope, you don't deserve to wait forever and ever… hoping she'll come back. The one who's been most motherly to you was Alice.. she's the one who deserves to be called mom." (y/n) hugged Albedo, petting his head as he wrapped his arms around them.
"You don't deserve this shit…"
That's what made him realize and start to not like Rhinedottir. And as he started finding more and more things that weren't normal, that he didn't realize he felt before, he started to hate her. He started to resent her. Albedo started resenting his master for abandoning him, killing subject two, poisoning Durin… the fall of Khaenri'ah. Everything. He couldn't help but still wasn't her to come back, maybe reconcile and apologize… but he knew that was a distant dream.
He didn't need her. Why did he? When he was with her, all he did was follow her around like a lost puppy, rely on her for everything… rely on her approval that he never got. He was finally dependant. He had (y/n), he had Klee, he had Sucrose and Lumine. That was enough for him, he had people he loved.
He has his lover.
He had his little sister
He had his student, assistant, and partner in crime, right hand woman
He had his half assistant, and best friend.
He didn't need her.
But why??
Why did she come back???
You weren't supposed to.
You weren't supposed to return!
"Albedo"
That voice.
That familiar voice of that for some reason brought some sort of comfort.
No… no…. You dare show your face???
".... Master?"
"Still where I told you to go, I see. Good."
I'm scared
I'm scared…
Go away…
Please?
No
No
No
No
No
No
No
No
No-
"Albedo…" the voice called, "h-huh? Oh.. uhm.. apologies.." He said softly "You seem.. distracted." Really?? I didn't know
"So, how is your progress? Have you gotten any closer?"
She set you up for failure, Albedo. It's impossible to find the meaning of life. The meaning of life is based on an opinion.
"It's impossible…" he said, "what?" "It's impossible… you can't figure out the meaning of this world or life. It's based on opinion." He responded, "If you mean… the meaning of life, to me… I've figured that out. I figured that out a while ago." Albedo said, looking up at the woman, "then tell me, what have you discovered?" "The meaning of life… is difficult to explain. The meaning of this world… is to find those who care about you, cheer you on when no one else will. The point in life is to find what makes you happy, something to fight for. If you have nothing to fight for, or live for… it's pointless." He answered, "the truth of this world… is that it's never seen the same way by everyone. Each pair of eyes perceives it differently. Sometimes you can't see happiness without that cute ball of fleeing sunlight, because she's the physical embodiment of happiness… you wouldn't be able to see curiosity and determination without someone who, despite her losses, still searches for that paradise her and her friends promised. Even if that means making her own… I wouldn't be able to see the good in relationships, and how they aren’t a waste of time without someone who fights to find her brother, and met me along the way. And I definitely wouldn't have been able to fully understand human emotions without that person who was so empathetic of everything, so understanding and willing to teach even when I thought I knew more than them… I learned how to love, I learned what it felt like because of a person who had too much love to give, but wasn't willing enough to receive any in return." He said, "the meaning of life is based on everyone else's own perception.. and mine is that I still have a long way to go.. I won't know everything about the world, but I also know the truth of this world is that.. you can't just push yourself past your limits and think you'll be okay. The truth is you can't go a week without sleep to finish an experiment. It'll be there when you wake up in the morning. If you don't take care of yourself, the world won't allow you to finish what you want to finish." He finished, "it seems you've been too focused on things other than the last assignment I gave you." Rhinedottir scoffed.
"You always were easily distracted by the most simple things." She said, making Albedo look down at the ground. "I'm… sorry…"
Don't apologize! What are you sorry for?! She hasn't changed a bit! No hello, no I miss you?! No how have you been?! Are you taking care of yourself?! Of course…
Of course she instantly asked about alchemy.
"I have to gather a few supplies from Mondstadt, that's why I'm here. I thought for a moment and decided that, while I'm at it, I may as well coke to collect you. Surely your research here is done by now." Rhinedottir said coldly, "I'll be back by anywhere from 2 to 4 PM. Get whatever you need ready, because I'm not waiting for you to pack anything up at the last second." And before he could open his mouth, she walked away… off to retrieve whatever it was that she needed.
What?
I thought… I wanted this..
But now that it happened… I don't wanna go..
I can't leave…
Klee still needs me, Sucrose still has so much more to learn, (y/n) would be heartbroken…
"She didn't even ask how you've been." They said to Albedo while walking towards Windrise. "It's strange… I wanted her to come back so badly.. I wanted to join her on adventures again but now that it happened, I wish it didn't." Albedo said with a soft sigh, "It's because you finally realized how bad she was." (y/n) told him, stopping and turning to look at him. "You don't have to go with her, she can't force you to do anything. You're your own person. And if she tries to drag you anyways, fight back." (y/n) said, he already know what they would say next.
"Or else I'll do it for you." "Or else you'll do it for me" Albedo said at the same time as (y/n).
You always were the confrontational type… you didn't take shit from anyone. Especially if it was threatening someone you care about.
"Exactly," (y/n) smiled some, allowing Albedo to wrap his arms around their waist while they rested their arms on his shoulder. "But, if you do want to go with her… I'm not stopping you, because it's your decision." They added while giving him a quick peck on the lips. "I… can't.. I can't leave… Klee needs me, she'd be so hurt if I left… Sucrose still has a lot to learn… so does Timaeus… I know you wander a lot… but… there'd never be a place for you to know where I'm at.. a place you'd always return to to see me." He said, "Why should I go with someone's who's only going to hurt me again… maybe even abandon me again. Why go with someone who doesn't even acknowledge my efforts when I have people right here who do more than just acknowledge it?" He asked out loud, it was more of a rhetorical question.
He kissed their lips gently, his right hand resting on their cheek.
"I shouldn't be surprised that you had your attention on anything other than Alchemy. I'm not surprised at all, in fact." That familiar voice rang through his head, when did you get here?? What happened to gathering things you needed??? Is it already 2 in the afternoon?? Or 4??
"What I am surprised about, however, is that you've been spending your energy and time pining after a girl and wasting energy kissing her instead of focusing on what you should be doing." She continued, and that struck a nerve. Set aside the misgendering because Rhinedottir didn't even know who (y/n) was, so she wasn't exactly supposed to know that they were a they and not a she… but the fact she said- not even insinuating but instead stating as a fact- that he was wasting energy on them…
"They… and (y/n) isn't a girl."
He was normally so calm, so in control, so stoic but in the moment all there was… was a blinding rage. You know the saying that someone is seeing red? That's how pissed off he was.
The things he could do, the things he could say right now.
But (y/n) beat him to it, they've been waiting for this moment their whole life and he knew that. He hoped they wouldn't, but knowing the enby of course they would.
"Wasting energy? You're the one who gave him an impossible task, an assignment you KNEW was impossible to complete. If anything, he was wasting energy trying to find the answer to a philosophical question that will NEVER get a straight and constant answer!" They narrowed their eyes when they looked at the older Alchemist. "You shouldn't even be here, I kind of hoped you died but then again, if you didn't I wouldn't get a chance to say all the shit I've been absolutely DYING to say to you." They said, "I'm about to destroy you.. I'm about to tear you apart psychologically, I'll rip your from the inside out and I'll make you doubt every bit of your self worth." They glared at the woman.
"He didn't deserve any of that shit, none of them did. Yes, you're smart. I'll hand it to you. But you're also a fucking psycho, you did so much more harm than good and I think you know that… I think you know what you did. You know you're the reason for the extinction of an entire race. You made two creations, poisoned one and made the other get eaten by the poisoned one. You then recreated that same eaten creation you dubbed a failure- which, by the way, is still alive and running around in Dragonspine. He tried killing Albedo to replace him but I'm smarter than that- and you created Albedo." They said without taking a breath, "You never praised him for his milestones, or what others would consider milestones, you caused him to believe that all these things he can do like literally creating a chair from a drawing is a small thing that isn't impressive. You made him severely underestimate his own self worth, you've caused him to overwork himself PAST the point of passing put from exhaustion. You've caused him to become a perfectionist-" "making things perfect is a good thing. Perfection is good and it is what he should be striving to achieve-" She interrupted, making (y/n) snap at her "Do. Not. Speak. When. I. Am. Speaking. you have absolutely no right to speak right now, you should be sitting down and listening like a good girl. For once in your life. Perfection can be good, yes, perfection is usually what is wanted however being a perfectionist is tiring, exhausting, it isn't healthy. It causes people to not be content with failure-" "no one should be content with failure especially Albedo. He's been taught better than that.. but of course, he's never managed to make perfection anyways-" she tried to speak again, backing away when they threw a stick at her.
"DO NOT SPEAK ABOUT ALBEDO LIKE THAT!" They screamed, even making Albedo flinch. "You've failed too, you haven't made perfection either so I know you aren't talking… failure is a good thing, it's what helps you learn. The only way you can learn and excel is by making mistakes. But oh you could NEVER make mistakes, hm??? Despite the fact you dubbed many creations as failures…" (y/n) went on and on. "You're nothing good, the most you are useful for is creating shit from nothing. Your intelligence is all you are useful for. You've caused more harm than good and no one fucking likes you. The last person who looked up to you and held you on a PEDESTAL has finally given up on you and turned on you! The only person who truly loved you and only wished for you to love him back has finally snapped and realized how bad you are. He's finally realized how bad you were for him, how bad you were TO him. He's finally come to see how much trauma you've given him, the trauma he never realized he had. Because he thought EVERYTHING WAS FINE! YOU MADE HIM WAIT EVER SINCE YOU ABANDONED HIM, HOPING YOU'D COME BACK AND TAKE HIM WITH YOU!" Their voice raised more and more, "and now your only son finally sees how much of a horrible person you are, and now he hates you." They stared her down, watching her stay quiet for a moment.
"He doesn't hate me… He can't… that's how I made him-" (y/n) laughed some, looking at Albedo, "do you wanna tell her the truth? I'm not gonna force you to." They said calmly and he nodded.
He took a shaky breath in, tell her how you feel. Tell her what the fuck she's done to you.
I hate you…
You hurt me… why should I care about you when you never gave a shit about me?
"Why…?" Is all that came out.
Damn it…
"What?" "Why did you leave? Why did you do that? Why did you do any of it?" He asked, "why didn't you love me?" (y/n) could hear his voice crack some.
I guess I did want to know why…
"..." Rhinedottir had no answer, Albedo nodded. "Even you don't know… You're such a horrible mother, you don't even know why you did the things you did.." He muttered.
"You never cared.. you never tried to praise me… you never tried to encourage me, all you did was discourage me and degrade my work… you made me afraid of making mistakes… a natural thing, a natural process in anything… you never even told me you loved me.. not once." He trailed off, he never realized the tears rolling down his cheeks.
"In the mirrors I see… demons set out to haunt me… with familiar faces, starting to talk like I do… I can't stand you, I don't get you, I don't want to… never want to… get to know you." Lyrics to a song (y/n) sang often, they said it reminded them of him. They said it symbolized Albedo and Rhinedottir perfectly.
"I can't stand you, I don't get you, I.. don't want to.. never want to… make it up to you.."
"What you've done isn't impressive. Even I could do it now. You're right, you had no more to teach me… because I can surpass you by 10 times." He said, taking his eyes off of the grass and now looking her in the eye.
"In the mirrors I see~ all that we were and could be~ I'll hold on along breath through, I'm a fool for you~ in the mirrors I see… demons set out to haunt me, with familiar faces…"
"You can do better than that. I know you can. You have enough knowledge to be able to." He said, "Why can't you do anything right? If you fail… I will leave you behind." His voice sounded calm, hollow, and cold. "He's starting to talk just like I do…" Rhinedottir muttered, he repeated the words she always said to him. They were coming back to bite her.
"I can't stand you… I hate you.." He said, he was a strong word… but not strong enough to convey what he felt. It was the type of hatred and anger that even screaming and every curse word in the book couldn't convey it properly. It was the type of feeling you couldn't put into words or sounds, not even actions could properly portray it.
"No.. no I don't hate you" She let go of a breath she didn't know she was holding, only for that feeling in the pit of her stomach to get worse. "I loathe you… I resent you. And I wish you had never come back. You should've been one of the monsters because that's exactly what you are." Albedo said, Rhinedottire scoffed, trying to keep her composure. She knew she was losing control, she lost it the moment she left. "As if you aren't one yourself, Albedo. You know you're a ticking time bomb." She smirked, but Albedo remained stoic now, save for the remnants of tears on his face.
"At least I didn't wipe out an entire civilization… Rhinedottir." He may be a ticking time bomb, he knew he was. He knew what he was capable of. He knew he might destroy Monstadt, but at least he could say he didn't destroy an entire civilization. He'd make sure someone killed him before he got the chance to. That's what he held above her.
"You… you are supposed to listen to me! I created you! You're.. You're not supposed to talk back to me or disobey!" She had no comebacks, nothing. Because she knew both of them were right. She abandoned him, she felt she had no use for him anymore, but at least he wasn't a failure like the first one. That's why she didn't kill him, that and because she didn't have a dragon to feed him to anymore.
Wait…
"He's alive…?" She asked, "the first one you made? Yes. Unfortunately. But at the same time, not unfortunately. Maybe, if he's nice enough, I'll be willing to give him a second chance." (y/n) nodded, "you did this. This is your fault. You've done nothing but hurt people." They said.
"I'm not going with you. I'm not leaving the people I genuinely love." Albedo said, and despite how she always pushed him around, this time Rhinedottir knew he wasn't budging, even if she threatened to leave him behind again. So she'd leave. It's futile to argue when someone refuses to move on a decision and has people to back them up.
"I never want to see you again."

hellu!! ((spoilers for the new event if you haven’t done it!)) I’ve had this idea for like an albedo x reader where it involves his impostor from the new event & i was wondering if you’d be interested in writing something that involved his impostor 👀👀? ITS SO VAGUE SORRY HAHA BUTJFJKGLG I’d love to see what you write if you’re inspired by it 😳💖
A Lonely Encounter - Part 1. (2)
A/N: OH THIS ASK IS SO WONDERFUL I'm a little worried about the vague spoilers in the ask though so I apologize to anyone that happens upon this and doesn't know yet!! Ty for the asks anon!!!
Edit: ok I just finished writing this and it ran a little long, but it's not too lengthy. I just got a burst of inspiration.
The actual fanfic is underneath my rlly long theory ramble in case u wanna skip that part LOL i just needed to tell someone about it...Tumblr is a gr8 place for that. (Maybe I should make a separate post for it, but I'm too lazy. sorry anon.)
Pairing: Albedo x GN!reader (pre-relationship or pre-existing relationship, your choice.)
Genre: There's really no theme... mystery perhaps. Tbh its kind of wholesome. One-shot (or maybe not... will there be more? idk...)
Word Count: 1086
Warnings: MAJOR Spoilers for the recent Albedo event!!, Albedo is acting slightly possessive again (idk why i always write him that way), but tbh he just wants to protect you.
REQUESTS ARE OPEN!
Theories!
There are 3 Albedos I believe (not just in theory, I think there were actually 3.), 2 were creations of Rhinedottir and one was the creation of the imposter Albedo (But it wasn't actually an Albedo, it was simply a mutated plant that was used to mimic and distract him from something else.)
I believe that the 1st Albedo is the Albedo we know to be the "impostor" and the 2nd one is the Albedo that we know and that the first Albedo was somehow not what Rhinedottir wanted and she attempted to dispose of him. (Not very nice dude...) Anyway! Since Albedo calls the impostor "Master's failed specimen in the dragon's belly", I think he may be either referring to the impostor just being in Dragonspine OR that Durin was used to dispose of the first albedo. (Weird, I know...) That could've been how the impostor ended up in Dragonspine. No theorizing there, he also could've just walked LMAO.
Also, during Albedo's monologue during the end, I feel like it was definitely from our Albedo's point of view, at least up until the very end where he talks about being human and being brought into the world. Maybe it's to show Albedo's astounding amount of empathy despite being synthetic, or it's to show the original Albedo's true feelings? Not sure there. Either way, it is extremely sad.
Things were different now that the two of you were aware of it. The feeling of being watched couldn't simply be blamed on the wild animals and camouflaged creatures in the area anymore. You would be working quietly when suddenly you would share a look with him. Then his sword would be out.
He had made the choice to let his imposter live. But at what cost, he now wonders. The cost of his focus? Or his sense of safety in solitude?
You weren't all that bothered by it. Nothing remotely deadly had happened since what had gone down a few weeks ago.
"Albedo," You said to the blonde, who was currently staring blankly at the vial in his hand. He was shaken from his thoughts and focused back on the vial, which he now noticed was not the color it was supposed to be. He made a slightly disappointed expression before turning towards you.
"What is it, Y/N?" He asked, setting the vial back into the rack.
"We're out of mint," You say, rocking back and forth on your heels. "I'm going to go collect some."
So far, Albedo had refused to let you out of his sight. You hadn't been able to go looking for ingredients or get a moment to yourself for days.
"Ah, okay." He said, before retrieving his sword. "Let's go."
"Well, um... I was hoping I could go by myself." You said, avoiding making eye contact with him. His arm with which he brandished his sword sort of went limp and he kind of just looked at you like he was thinking about something.
"I have a sword too, you know." You laughed nervously, pulling out your own. The one he'd given you. The one he'd said only you could brandish. He was silent for a moment more.
His brows knitted together slightly before he nodded.
"Okay. Be careful. Shout if you need me." He said, looking into your eyes rather intensely from where he stood a few feet away, "I will hear you."
You nodded, before waving and turning away.
You weren't all too worried about being alone, given that nothing eventful had happened. But maybe that was because the two of you hadn't been apart since then. Then again, it didn't seem to have any trouble with causing problems for groups of people. You thought back to the avalanche.
You picked mint carefully, placing it into your bag. It was rather nice to be alone, even if it's just for a little while. You adore Albedo, but his presence can be smothering. Anyone's is when you're unseparated for that long. It was no fault of his for wanting to keep you safe.
You wandered from the path to collect some Starsilver you'd spotted growing from a rock. Leisurely, you collected the brittle material to bring back to Albedo. You heard a rustle a few feet away from you and flicked your eyes towards the sound. It was too quiet.
Just then, you heard heavy steps crunching in the snow behind you. You whipped around quickly, sword drawn in an instant.
It was Albedo. You glanced immediately at his neck. No diamond, this was not your Albedo. He simply stood there and stared at you, it was rather unusual.
You clutched the Starsilver in your hand and tried to open your bag to drop it in there so you could make your escape.
"Why do you carry those?" He asked, suddenly. His eyes glanced down to the ore in your hand. His face remained blank. No trace of curiosity. Just blank.
"The Starsilver...?" You asked, extremely confused. He closed his eyes momentarily and nodded. "It's for paint."
He shook his head. "I know, but they are the lackluster sort like you talked about."
His eyes seemed to dull. You glanced down at them, but you couldn't tell the difference, despite the advice of Albedo, Paimon, and the traveler last time you'd collected some.
"Well, it'll all be turned into silver paint, anyway. I'll use it if Albedo doesn't." You shrugged, strangely feeling like you could let your guard down. Your arm relaxed a bit.
He took that moment to lunge forward to grab you by your shirt collar.
"ALBED-!" You tried to yell, but he covered your mouth. You struggled.
"Teach me how to paint." He muttered, gripping your clothing tighter. You dropped your sword and lifted your leg to kick him away. He stumbled but regained his composure quickly.
You simply stared at each other. He grits his teeth in frustration and turned away, walking back in the direction he came from.
Teach him to paint? Does he want to create more creatures? You don't want to be responsible for something like that if that's what he is trying to do.
But maybe he wants the simpler aspect of it. Surely there's not much for him to do up here. He'd needed Albedo's notes to create the Whopperflower, so he's clearly not a genius at alchemy either. It's a good way to pass the time, the same reason that Paimon had wanted the traveler to learn.
You snapped your head towards the sound of quick footsteps coming towards you. Symbol-clad neck. Your Albedo. His sword was out.
You didn't know what to say when he stood there a few feet away, seeing that there was nothing wrong with you. He straightened up.
"What do you need?" He asked. He didn't mind that you weren't in trouble. He was relieved, actually.
"Nothing..? Ahh, well." You said, still dazed from the events that had just taken place. You quickly formulated a lie. You weren't protecting the impostor or anything like that, right? Just making sure Albedo wasn't worrying about you anymore.
"I picked some mint and a Whopperflower surprised me..." You laughed nervously. He seemed to relax. "I guess I'm still a little paranoid from last time, sorry."
"Don't apologize." He said, "It is merely human nature to become wary of things that have affected you in the past. Especially if those same events can occur again." He said, stepping closer to you. He wrapped his arm around your mid-section and looked towards the top of the mountain.
The wind blew cold.
"Let's go back now." He said after being silent for a few moments. "I'll cook dinner."
"Okay," You mumbled. You looked back over your shoulder as you walked beside him back to camp. You swear you could see a flash of blue eyes between the brush and snow.

the end.
synopsis : you were the lieutenant of the royal guard alongside the twilight sword.
pairings : dainsleif x gn!reader
— a / n : first post, hope you enjoy :D
warnings: angst. sorta spoiler for khaenri'ah history—more specifically the cataclysm, hints at death.
two armies stood in their glory on the battlefield. each awaiting the other's first strike. tension flooded the air, as everyone knew one thing. today marked a new chapter, today marked a day of departure. many families would be losing loved ones tonight, no doubt, yet for some, it was a reunion, albeit not a joyous one.
his striking blue eyes dug into their soul like the sun on a cold winter's day, yet this gaze lacked the thing they sought most, warmth.
both parties held stone cold expressions, shielding the hurt beneath their hearts. dainsleif used to believe he knew his best friend more than anything in the world, so the sight of them standing within the ranks of his enemies, well, shock is one way to put it. there was a mixture of hurt, disbelief, anger, and most importantly, betrayal.
his eyes scanned the former royal guard, seeking some indication of a 'hey, trust me, we'll get through this together.'
why weren't they beside himself, partners-in-crime as they had for decades?
every fiber in the lieutenant's body screamed to remain still, yet their heart convinced them that a little glance wouldn't hurt. just to see how their old friend was doing, right?
the look on his face had knocked their confidence down by a few pegs, as a sneaky glance had turned into a long lasting stare down. the bough keeper's gaze held enough hatred for the both of them, like lasers chipping away their carefully built façade.
what dain offered in resentment, they offered regret, a small smile saying 'forgive me, please.' a guilty sugarcoat that once held innocence and liveliness.
however, before their little moment could continue, the cry of battle shook them back to reality, weapons clashing and sparks of elements exploding like fireworks.
as both stood on the front lines, they were soon met face to face. one charged, and one stood their ground. one held a weapon, and one did not. odd, yet the young knight didn't hesitate to attack their old friend, with each swing dodged, dain grew closer until he could grip their wrist and drag them away. "what are you-"
his touch was scorching their skin, yet a shiver of goosebumps rose up their arm as the they found themselves behind a pile of rubble, courtesy to the monsters which had once rampaged the town.
"why are you here with them?"
ah yes, them. rhinedottir, the alchemist who had caused the next era of war and destruction.
they mustered as much confidence as they could, and in a cold tone, they prayed their voice wouldn't fail them. "rhinedottir offered me something I couldn't decline, and naturally, I did what I had to."
he couldn't understand. dainsleif, the bough keeper, the twilight sword, their best friend, their inspiration, and above all, their world.
"what could he possibly have offered that I couldn't have given you? what was it? tell me."
'your safety.'
they knew that the alchemist's plan would play out dangerously, and they were merely a pawn on his chessboard. gold knew they had connections and could gather information, but most of all, gold knew how close the two guards were.
"... I can't tell you."
they couldn't admit they did it all for him. they couldn't admit they threw their entire life away for him. he would have never agreed, they simply spared themselves a lecture.
"don't lie to me y/n, we both know I would've killed for you. I'd set fire to the world and ensure it never touched you." there was a sort of malice in his voice which caused them to shrink in their spot, prying away from his grip.
admittingly, his words stung, more than a blade could ever, but it was far too late to turn back.
"my dear," they laughed softly, seeming more self assured than the pounding of their heart. "you're so naïve." their words felt like a punch to his gut. "you don't know me, you don't know my reasoning, you don't know my motive. what you offer could never exceed the deal l made with rhinedottir."
every word was a lie, they would give anything to go back and fight by his side, be the one to protect him. instead, they had made a mistake, causing them to stand at opposing sides of the board. enemies on the field, with broken trust and broken hearts laying on the platter, shattered by reality.
the bough keepers starry cap billowed in the wind behind him as his light blonde hair shone against the darkened lands. he appeared to be amused at their courageous statement, offering a gaze which almost challenged them to continue.
it sent shivers down his former partner's spine as their eyes averted to the world beyond him.
"I was given an offer I couldn't decline." they repeated, taking a deep breath as they met eyes once again. only to present a solemn smile. "and after that, I swore to the archons that I would kill anyone or anything that put you in harms way."
ironic, isn't it?
they were confident in his ability to protect himself, but even the strongest of warriors could fall during harsh times.
a meek laugh echoed to dain's ears as they slowly raised their weapon, feeling a sense of deja vu as his hand grasped onto the hilt of his sword.
"everyone."
their last words flew from their lips as they fell into his arms, smiling as the world dissolved around them.

Pairing: Rhinedottir x Gn!Reader
Warnings: 18+ MINORS DNI, Dark Content, Rhinedottir uses She/Her Pronouns, Reader uses No Pronouns, Abusive Relationship, Abuse/Assault, Rhinedottir is a bitch (affectionate), Gender Neutral Reader, Human Experimentation, Manipulation, Less than 1k idk i wrote this in tumblr drafts lmao.
A/n: Okay, so I am writing a longer Rhine thing but for now I needed to get this out of my brain and into the wild. A quick forewarning, Rhine in this is very much made with my personal headcanons in mind so just please be aware of that. I know she hasn't made an official appearance but with how much we've heard about her in lore i cannot stop myself from being obsessed. Please, make sure you read all the warnings before reading. Thanks!
Tagging: @auphelia
Impatient. Chatty. Annoying. These are just some of the words Rhine would use to describe you. There were no buts, just Rhine and her disgust which permeated the walls of her lab. She looked over her notes again, and again, until she’d concluded that she was indeed dissatisfied with the work you both had done. Well, her work, but you were willing enough. Sadly as much as she loathed the idea of rethinking her strategy, she had no other choice.
In the meantime Rhine had no option but to map out what needed to be done and with what. As she thought it out in her mind, connecting dots that others would find irrelevant, her ears grew warm from the surrounding buzz of the room. The lack of sound often seemed the loudest at times to some. Although Rhine would disagree. The empty air was needed, a necessary measure. While others found comfort in idle chit chat she saw it nothing more than a distraction. Talking often got in the way of more important things, such as moments like this.
The silence was nice, forgiving even, but of course, you had to open that trap of yours. She nearly lost her composure listening to your mindless chatter sometimes. Of course her best test subject would be the most troublesome of them all. At times she wished she’d make a mistake—an impossible yet comforting thought—and “accidentally” end the experiment early. Never mind how utterly unlikely that would be. It’s that thought which was ripped from her upon hearing you ask another loud and idiotic question.
“What are you doing, Miss.Rhine?” Your voice is sweet with an ugly aftertaste.
She ignores you but her eye twitches.
Absolutely frustrating.
You press further, asking why she’s ignoring you, and it isn’t long before she’s letting out a growl.
She drops her clipboard and lunges a hand towards your face, forcing your gaze at hers. Her long, dirty nails dig into your cheeks causing them to hurt just enough to shut you up.
“I will cut out your tongue if you do not silence it.” She snapped.
Silence finally thickened the surrounding air, staining a reminder into your throat as you swallowed hard. Rhine was usually patient, something she had to force herself to be after many years with you, but you had a way of testing her limits. Your voice was just one of her many irritants. She scoffed and let go of your face roughly, recklessly throwing back your head till it hit the surface behind you. Finally, she could get back to the task at hand, she thought to herself.
Sadly, she made the mistake of glancing over at your teary eyed face. You averted your eyes the instant hers locked onto yours. You sniffled and flinched as she moved her hand to pinch her nose. God, you were so fucking insufferable. It was always something with you. Well, she very well couldn't continue her work if she didn't have a proper subject.
Reluctantly she stood up and scooped you up into her arms and sighed loudly. "Stop crying."
You began to cry harder and she groaned out loud. Rocking you in her arms she stood still aside from the very mechanical rocking movements. Rhine had better things to do than coddle you, she couldn't let herself get into the habit of spoiling you. No, that would be most troublesome. It was only a few moments before you were a puddle in her arms, quiet and reserved. She could finally get back to the job at hand. Just as she started reading over her notes, again, she caught herself scowling down at you.
She tightened her jaw, grinding down on her teeth. Had she gone soft? Weak in the knees for some nobody. The mere idea left a sour taste in her mouth. Had Rhine finally fallen from grace? No, such things she reassured herself. Besides, much work was to be done and she very well couldn't be bothered to dwell on useless worries such as that. For now she supposed it was alright, it was keeping you quiet, after all. I suppose. She was not motherly by any means, but she could at least pretend long enough to shut you up.

Hello Sagi. Have a nice day, I just saw your spring event. Can I request Albedo with the Cecilia flower? Thank you very much, have a nice day( And I love your work <3)
[Cecilia]: "Will you accept all of me? Even the parts dark and frightening?"
Event Prompt List (CLOSED)
Event Masterlist
pairing: Albedo x gn!reader
genre: very light hurt/comfort
There are many instances in which Albedo thinks he is unworthy of this life.
No matter how many times he has studied, observed, read about, and even try his best to blend in with the humans around him, he still finds himself unable to fully understand or comprehend them.
Fascinating creatures they are. Paradoxical, messy, and yet tragically beautiful.
So Albedo, the being made of chalk dust and purified soil that he is, resigns himself to the fact that he will never be able to understand them.
(And yet, though he may have been regarded by his Master as the perfect specimen, he wonders what it says about the nature of the world when he occasionally feels envious of those who have mortal lives.)
Still, he continues on living with that gorgeous lie, knowing that the person he presents is part illusion. There are days he feels like he does not deserve the waves and smiles given to him by his colleagues, does not deserve the admiration of his students, nor does he deserve the tugging of his hand and the affectionate way his adopted sister calls him brother.
Most importantly, he feels he does not deserve you in all your breathtaking presence.
Before you, he was content with the nigh hermit life he leads, cooped up in his lab and finding little need for companionship. But the moment you enter his life, each interaction, no matter how small, becomes a drug to him. He yearns for your attention and presence in a way that he has never felt for anyone before, and though it frightens him to the core, he had tried to detach from you before, and that is one mistake he will never make again.
So no, Albedo is not convinced that he is worthy of your love and affection. You deserve someone whose heart beats in a vessel made of blood and sinew, whose hands does not leave cold traces on your warm skin.
You also deserve the truth.
Nevertheless, when he tells you he has something to say to you, he does so with a heavy heart and a mind echoing a voice filled with self-doubt.
What if you become horrified by him? What if you can’t accept the fact that he’s not human? What if you leave-
Albedo forcefully shoves the rest of that thought out of his mind, the implications of it doing no good in lessening the way his gut is twisting.
The sound of footsteps crunching against snow enters his ears, and when he looks up, his nervousness momentarily disappears when he sees your smiling face.
“Albedo, you said you wanted to tell me something?”
You try to keep your voice even, but he notices the way your fingers are restless and your foot keeps tapping silently. Apparently you’re just as nervous as him.
“I do, love. But let’s sit down first.” He takes a hold of your hand and leads you to a chair, but even when both you sat down he does not let go. Instead, he begins to draw small circles on your hand with his thumb, both to reassure you and to help him calm his nerves. “(Y/N), I-I haven’t been entirely honest with you.”
Seeing your worried and confused expression, he squeezes your hand and holds in a sigh to continue. “I’m not who you think I am. I’m a synthetic human being, created by the hands of another through the means of alchemy. My Master, Rhinedottir, is the one who breathed life into me, and subsequently entrusted me in the care of Alice with one final mission: to discover the meaning of this world.”
Albedo dares to take a glance at you after his declaration, the pitter-patter of his heart persisting at the absolute flabbergasted look on your face. Immediately, the voices in his head intensified, with one in particular having the low, poisonous drawl of an ancient beast.
“Look at that, they hate you now. They’re disgusted by you. Who could ever love someone’s who not a human like you?”
The blonde alchemist inwardly curses, wondering if he had actually ruined something good in his life. “I know this must be a surprise for you love, and I completely understand if you need some time to process or if you...” he swallows. “Need space from me. You deserve someone who can love you better than I can. Someone made of flesh and blood just as you are, not someone who still doesn’t know how to best interact with people. You are worthy of someone better than me-”
The rest of his sentence fades away when you swiftly pulls him into your arms, encircling them around his waist and burying yourself in his ash blonde hair.
This isn’t quite the reaction that he expected. He tries to crane his head to look at you, but you refuse to move. “(Y/N)-”
“Dont’t...” The choking sound of your voice made him still. “Don’t say that about yourself. Don’t say that I should be with someone better than you when my heart tells me every day that I can never love anyone like I love you. I don’t care that you’re not a real human being, you’re real to me, aren’t you? So what if you’re molded by the hands of another? You still experience emotions just as any of us do. You still laugh and cry and love just as hard as any human. You’re still the Albedo I know, synthetic or not.”
“But-”
“No buts! I love you, and if you think that’s going to be the reason for me to leave you, then you’re wrong!”
He takes a deep breath in and lets himself return your hug, the tight feeling in his chest unwinding just a little bit. How is he so lucky to have met you?
“You’re taking this better than I thought.”
You snort lightly. “Oh, believe me, I don’t think I’ve ever been this shocked. But I’ll get around to it.” You release him for a second to look at him. “Hey Albedo, if I ask you a few questions, will you be able to answer them?”
His shoulders slump momentarily. Of course, the hardest part of this conversation have yet to come, he still has to tell you about the darkness and rot inside of him.
Albedo does his best to smile at you. “I’ll answer them to the best of my abilities, darling.”
Whether intentional or not, every single living creation of Rhinedottir bear within themselves a curse that corrodes them from the inside out, him being no exception.
“You’ll destroy them,” the voice hisses into his ears that sends shivers of dread down his spine.
He hopes that fate will be kind to the both of you.

A Library Date?
Albedo x fem!reader
Fluff?
Royal au; both of you just chill in a library
a gift for a friend :>
Sitting in a large library with walls filled to the brim with shelves of books, was Prince Albedo of Kemia and Princess (Y/N) of Liyue. An awkward silence was upon them however, as the two royals sat— each with a book in their hands.
How did they get into this situation? Simply put, Queen Rhinedottir urged Albedo to find a spouse. Rhinedottir contacted the King of Liyue as she had heard of King Rex Lapis' quiet daughter, and pursued on her quest to find her son a significant other. It did not take long for the kingdom's crown prince to convince his younger sister to venture away from the nest.
What the young princess didn't expect as she entered the castle belonging to the Kingdom of Khemia, was the introverted prince she was told to meet.
And now, Princess (Y/N) is currenty sitting in a soft chair, reading a book from the library shelves; Albedo doing the same across from across the large room.
Flipping from page to page, with an abundance of words stitched on every page, the young lady propped an elbow on the armrest, hand providing support to her head. In her hands was a script of a play about a pair of star-crossed lovers separated by conflicting families, whose story ends in tragedy.
Smacking the finished script close, (y/n) sighs and relaxes into the chair once again, closing her eyes after the disaterous finish. (y/n) suddenly jolts up as soon as she hears a voice speaking to her.
"Finished reading, Princess (y/n)?" Prince Albedo asks, looking up from his own book.
(y/n) sits up to meet his gaze. "Yes I have. Though I was about to read another. Would you give me some recommendations?"
"I see you have just read 'Romeo and Juliet'. Might I introduce another play written by the same playwright?"
"..."
(y/n) looks around the multiple shelves placed on the walls. She has already read the plays written by the most wellknown dramatist in Mondstadt, so a new author to read is a must.
The Liyuean Princess stands up and walks to a shelf the her right. Out of the thousands of books displayed in front of her very eyes, none caught their attention. A hardcover did catch her attention, but its title displayed the name of a certain play, whos hero died after disrupting the society's social chain.
"Macbeth was an ambitous man who became prideful after his ascension to kingship."
"gaH-"
"...?"
"Please do not scare me like that, prince."
"You had been standing with your hand grasping the cover, so I stood to see if you were alright."
'He isn't wrong..' (y/n)'s brain thought.
(y/n) had read every single one of the books contained in her own library back in Liyue. And even if she had finished reading the entire catalogue, a new delivery of books would arrive. To find a book in a room similar to her second home that she hasn't seen yet is and will be a challenge.
"I have.. read a plethora of books in my time. It is increasingly difficult to read another that I do no have back in my father's palace."
Albedo giggled, "You speak with a similar vocabulary as your father, has anyone told you that?"
"And you seem very knowledgeable of many stories, Prince Albedo." (y/n rolled her eyes jokingly.
"I have read every book in the castle walls, but I would not call myself knowledgeable."
"So have I. Have you read the story of Orpheus and Eurydice?"
"I have. A tragic tale of a husband whose wife was bitten, and travelled to the underworld to revive her."
"The story of Oedipus?"
"A man who was destined to murder his own father and marry his mother? Unfortunately. If I may, why are you bringing up titles with tragic endings?"
"That, dear Prince Albedo, is for me to know, and for you to find out."
...
An hour had passed, filled with a conversation— or a challenge, depening on who you ask— of books and their plot. The book-lovers spoke of their love of stories, not noticing the blond woman standing by the door.
"Princess (y/n), your brother is here for you." Queen Rhinedottir exclaimed, suprizing the two royals in the room.
"Ah, please excuse me," (y/n) returns the books to their places, "It seems that I must go."
"Think nothing of it. I look forward to speaking with you again, princess."
(y/n) leaves as the queen looks at her son after bidding farewell.
"I expect a grandchild by next year, son~"
