The more I replay RF2 the more I think that with a port/remake the problem that you have is that like
A lot of the issues are baked in rather deeply? Like, the generational thing for one, that's an obvious thing. Also it is built around marrying Mana and stretches to accommodate marriage to one of the other girls, but if you wanted to introduce an option to marry one of the guys this causes problems ranging from "Their 2nd gen quests don't mesh with the 'Aria/Aaron's other parent does not want them in dungeons' thing" to Barrett.
Some of it you could fix if you wanted to do more than like, a port with barebones QoL add-ons like, of course if Kyle marries Yue it becomes problematic to keep her hanging around in dungeon entrances but you can at least have her shop not limited to "sunny days and only the bare minimum (m,w,f) to let Aria furnish the school" and some of it would just. not work within the story. You could maybe have Tanya upgrade tools like Leo did, at least getting the watering can capacity not locked at THIRTY until your kid takes over the farm, some other things like that that're way beyond the scope of qol stuff that rf3/4s do (and just revert any tool changes with the genswap with the same excuse that is used to get rid of your tool charges)
But if you wanted to let Kyle marry Jake I think you could just handwave it and let Jake be the kind of father who encourages his daughter's hobby of running around in dungeons. This is the easiest problem to solve regarding gay marriage (or het!fem!kyle i guess)

Expectations vs Reality (it was then when Jake realised he was in love)
An addition to the Yue/Jake, Cecilia/Nicholas comic I drew the other day!!! I felt like drawing soft colours and I had some free time today so I did this!! I feel like Yue is probably super strong from all the stuff she has to carry everyday and Jake loves it ofc
ngl I’m actually so invested in Yue/Jake now, what a plot twist ahaha..

Ay ay @rfweeks Have some RF2 femslash this time.   Although it’s more about coming out/family’s reaction than the ship itself but that’s what Free Day is for. Featuring Mana, her chauvinist dad Douglas and my personal under-rated fave, Gordon.
All Mana needs is a 'yes' or 'no': can she and Yue be married at Alvarna's chapel?
But like many of life's questions, the answer isn't so simple.

Hi! I have an RF2 prompt if you'd like to do it :) Could you write something where Ray and Mana get together after Kyle marries Rosalind? I never really liked that in-game Ray was with Yue (she'd be more interesting with Jake, but I didn't wanna marry Ceci). Maybe Mana notices that he's sad looking at Rosalind at the dance festival, and gathers the courage to ask him herself? And they start bonding after that? Idk, I'm up for anything. I look forward to your take on it if you choose to do so
The music filled the air and everyone danced and chatted. Mana beamed watching Roy and Camilla run around, occasionally joining in the dance before running off and causing more mayhem. Only a few people stood to the side–her father and Tanya stood aside drinking and talking, laughing as Gordon stumbled on Nancy’s toes in an attempt to dance.
Barrett sat off by himself, arms crossed. Despite his stance, he didn’t seem too angry; Dorothy sat beside him, a small smile peeking from below her bangs.
Mana caught sight of someone else, as well, and her eyes widened. Ray stood a few yards away by himself, his eyes pinned on something. Mana followed his eyes and her heart softened.
Directly before his eyes, Rosalind spoke with Kyle, their cheeks flushed pleasantly. In Rosalind’s arm sat a little bundle which they cooed over.
Mana loved their little daughter; she was the precious little girl in the world, and everyone in the village was wrapped around her little finger already–even her father.
But as Mana’s eyes traced back to Ray, seeing the soft, defeated look in his eyes dancing in the fire, Mana’s heart ached, and her feet moved before she could help herself.
“Good evening, Ray.”
Ray’s head snapped to her, and his face flushed.
“Oh–Mana.” He glanced back to the couple before licking his lips and smiling. “Good evening… Are you having fun?”
Mana smiled and shrugged.
“I guess,” she said, “It would be more fun to dance, though…”
She left the sentence open, and Ray’s eyes lit up in recognition. Again his eyes strayed across the way, but this time, he caught himself. Minutely his shoulders straightened and he gave her a small smile, nodding.
“Would you like to dance with me?”
Mana beamed and took his offered hand.
“I’d love to.”
No one gave either of them a second glance as they stepped into the middle of the dance, drawing close. Nearby, Max and Julia twirled expertly, and Jake and Ceci fumbled along, Jake’s face a blushing mess as he scowled at his feet and Ceci tried not to laugh.
Ray’s hand on her waist startled Mana a little, and she gave him a shy smile. He returned it, and they began to sway.
For a while they were quiet, and Mana let herself feel the music and the simple rhythm of their bodies. She could feel the pull of Ray’s attention away from her, though.
“I am happy for everyone,” Mana said after a while, making Ray turn to her, “It seems like everything is coming together, doesn’t it? Soon there will be a school…”
Ray hesitated, and that sad look returned to his eye. Still, he attempted to smile, a sight that both hurt and warmed Mana’s heart.
“Yes, it does, doesn’t it?” he said softly. “Mostly for those who have kids, of course…”
Mana looked up at him.
“You don’t want children?” she asked.
“No, I do! Of course–” Ray licked his lips again, “It’s just…”
Mana knew before he had to say it–if he would have. But she didn’t give him the chance.
“I understand,” Mana murmured, squeezing his shoulder, “I really do. But we all find happiness when we least expect it. I think I will be a teacher at the new school. Kyle has already asked me. That will make me happy.”
Ray hesitated.
“Some happiness is different than others,” he said.
Mana’s eyes flicked over his shoulder to Kyle. Kyle’s eyes danced as he talked to his baby in Rosalind’s arms, the dimple on his left cheek prominent and making him look younger, more handsome.
“I know.”
When Mana’s eyes found Ray’s again, she found that his had followed her gaze, and he turned to her in surprise, and understanding. They smiled softly at each other. Like two broken puzzle pieces. Ray’s hand minutely drew her closer, and Mana touched her chin to his shoulder.
“This dance will end soon,” Ray mentioned, slightly off-hand.”
Mana hummed.
“I don’t really want it to,” she said, only slightly hesitant, “Do you?”
Their eyes met. Ray smiled, his eyes dancing.
“No… No, I don’t.”

An Unlikely Friendship ! Yue/Jake Rune Factory 2
I played around with the Nicholas/Cecilia AU idea I had for last year’s RFWeeks and came up with a silly comic about Yue and Jake. It always made no sense to me how he ended up marrying Yue while still hating humans (and let’s not talk about Orland if Yue’s his mom), so I played around with the idea of them meeting and Jake realising humans are actually not that bad.
Excuse the messiness, I got really tired by the end and just wanted to finish it asap. I never have enough patience for these things ahahaha.

[ Rune Factory 2 - Light Novel ]
This is the light novel made for Rune Factory 2, which has yet to receive any translation whatsoever! While there’s no translation, I do know that the plot revolves primarily about the romance of Kyle and Cecilia (sorry Mana, better luck next time).
Several of the in-novel pictures do show some interesting things, like Cecilia standing over some sort of grave, so I’m wondering if this light novel delves into Cecilia’s past, which was only briefly touched upon in the original Rune Factory, where she appeared as a child.
Also I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Kyle and Mana artwork used for the front cover of the light novel. I don’t know if this is the only place it’s used, but it’s the only time I’ve personally seen either one of them.
