LITERALLY. Aventurine's entire lore and character is inspired by the Romani people's history with slavery (I believe their culture as well, someone please correct me if not), and while Mihoyo is heavily questionable, the fact that he is well written and his character is well executed in the game without (much) racism given their source material in history???

It is so much better than how they have approached Carol in HI3rd and Carol's mother (a hyper masculine black woman who I believe has a masculine name; I literally thought she was a man at first), and given how a lot of their fanbase plays at least more than one of their games, I'm not surprised people have used the presence of slavery as a jumping point for a romantic reader insert. I've even seen an AI on c.AI when I was fucking around where YOU are a slave and you are put up on the gambling block because the other person ran out of money while gambling against Aventurine.

SLAVERY ISN'T A CUTE LITTLE THING TO JUMP ON FOR A STORY PLOT. It is perfectly okay to mention or include it, but don't make it the whole focus or romanticize it??? This also goes with mental health issues as well- something we know Aventurine has!

It is such a fine line, and for that, you need sensitivity readers! Don't forget sensitivity readers exist! If you still are going to write something that evolves into a romance when it is about such a delicate topic like slavery, you need sensitivity readers so you don't romanticize it!
