watched across the spider-verse twice now and as an avid spidey enjoyer i am beaming with joy.
here's some of my thoughts without spoiling too much:
- i want peter b. parker to adopt me
- i am so proud of miles
- the different animation styles were perfect. every single shot a canvas that you could hang in a museum. the dimensions shown were all so beautiful and the art in general made me sob. probs to everyone who worked so hard to bring this masterpiece to life
- genuinely, i really fucking loved how the emotions on gwen's earth were expressed by the art changing colors, luminosity and the water colors fading
- earth-65 was straight out of a comic i had goosebumps all over my body
- the animation was even more vibrant than in the first movie i couldn't believe my eyes that that's something people DREW
- nueva york looks like that "society if....." meme i was giggling in my seat when that thought popped into my mind
- dark garfield made me holler. caught me off guard but made me holler
- miguel o'hara is such an interesting character watch me inhale all of his comics in the next couple of weeks
- i'm so happy that peter b. parker hasn't lost his edge to be unserious he's my favourite adaptation of spider-man (next to andrew's) his character wasn't ruined don't let the dude bros fool you
- MILES IS SPIDER-MAN
- mrs morales and mr davis are the parents everyone deserves to have
- i've never felt more proud to be a spider-man fan than during this movie :) my little nerd heart was so pleased and happy and overstimulated and flabbergasted and nostalgic and awestruck and
- atsv made a laughing stock out of the entirety of mcu films that are about the multiverse i cheered
- animation. is. cinema.
- the inclusion and diversity made me cry. everyone can feel connected to this movie which makes me so unbelievably happy. kinda wished spidey therapist had more screen time though (as an aspiring therapist myself i found the idea so cool and funny)
- there's one specific scene where i personally felt like vibrating at the speed of light out of excitement
- i want to live in the spider society HQ. take all my things i'm gonna sleep in the lobby
- all the spider-people are my people fr
conclusion: i'm not the same i was one movie ago. the wait was more than worth it. i love spider-man so much

I'm new to Tumblr. How do Tumblr users usually engage with each other?
well first of all welcome haha. the main ways to engage with people are:
liking and reblogging. platforms like instagram and tiktok run on likes and an algorithm, but on tumblr, people almost exclusively use their dashboard and turn off suggested content, so they’re only seeing what people actually reblog onto their dash. that’s why people on this site are so adamant about reblogs, because likes basically do nothing. i saw someone say once that anything you would like on a different social media, you should reblog on here, and i totally agree. and don’t worry about how old a post is, or about reblogging something you’ve previously reblogged. there are posts from 2014 that i regularly see on my dash a decade later, so literally don’t feel awkward, it’s 100% normal to engage with old posts.
tags. there are three main ways tags are used: labeling original content so people find it in searches, internal organization systems when reblogging or posting (for instance, many people have a tag for their original posts, and will tag reblogs by fandom or character or whatever - important note that reblogs do not show up in search results), and to make sotto voce comments on a post. it’s normal for people to make jokes, add their own commentary, ramble about something semi relevant, or say something to op in the tags on posts they reblog.
reblog additions. every time you reblog, you have the chance to add something to the post, which unlike tags will be retained when someone reblogs from you. a good rule of thumb is to comment instead of tagging when it’s something you actually want other people to engage with, as opposed to tags where you’re just kind of expressing yourself lol. don’t be surprised however if you see people’s tags getting screenshotted and added to a reblog. if this happens because the screenshotter likes what the tag writer said, it’s jokingly referred to as “passing peer review.” (and of course people screenshot tags to criticize or mock them as well.) essentially, tags are like being at a big group dinner and saying something to the person next to you as an aside, and then sometimes that person goes “hey everyone listen to this”
post comments. there’s also an option on every post (unless op has turned it off) for people to comment on the post itself, not on a specific reblog. mostly this is useful for talking to people on personal posts or posts with reblogs turned off. on a bigger post, just reblog it and put your thoughts in an addition or tag.
asks. seems like you figured this one out! lmao. asks are used for a wide variety of things, but essentially it can either be a prompt for someone to make a post or a way of having an interaction/conversation with someone without dming them.
dms. these work like dms everywhere else, except the functionality is limited and it kinda sucks.
games. there are also many varieties of games that people play with each other, ranging from ask games (things like “rec me some music” or a post with prompts and people send you some from that list), tag games (typically there are questions you answer then you tag other people to fill them out for themselves) handwriting tags, follow chains, giveaways, name/url playlists, and more. with the addition of polls, brackets have gotten popular too (eg the tumblr sexyman bracket). there also used to be a lot of in-character ask blogs, where a user would set up a blog and roleplay as a specific character that people could send questions to (there still are some but way fewer and way less popular than there used to be)
to be honest i feel like i have to put “discourse” and “drama” on this list too. people on this site loveeee having the most insane arguments of all time and then everyone else memes the hell out of it. google “sonic for real justice” for an example lmao. (of course there’s also very unfunny political and fandom discourse that goes on as well. i would advise you to avoid discourse blogs as a general rule regardless of whether you agree with their position or not)
tagging people. you can also @ people in posts you think they’d like or if you feel like they have relevant input. typically this is something you would do either to people you’ve spoken to before, or a big blog with an established persona and rapport with their followers (eg if you follow a blog about snakes and you see a random post with snake info that seems wrong but you’re not sure, so you tag them to ask for their expertise).
and this isn’t a specific “mode” of communication but it’s also a thing to “interpret” (for lack of a better word) other people’s posts. for instance, people drawing a photo from the original post (i cant find it but there was a post going around recently where op posted an aesthetic photo of an egg cooking and then several people painted it), or people trying/recreating something a post was about (example). it was also a thing for a minute there where people would rewrite funny exchanges as shakespearean dialogue
those are all the ways i can think of, although im sure i’ve missed some (if other people think of any pls add on!). good luck, and i hope you’re able to meet some cool people!

Read on AO3
--------------------------
Morgan sparks up her cigarette, glad to find her lighter still works after so long without use. The gravel of the warehouse roof shifts underneath her as she looks over the edge. There’s a moving truck parked out front and Agency employees are bringing furniture into the warehouse with their usual efficiency.
She recognizes the crib when she sees it, and a rocking chair, but she has no idea what most of it is. Do babies really need this much stuff?  Probably not. Nat was helping.
In hindsight, she should’ve known something like this would be coming one day. Maybe not a baby specifically, but the first known magical beast from the Echo World? A stray werewolf? Those are absolutely the kind of things her girlfriend would bring home. Neveah is a bleeding heart, and she’s always taking care of everyone.  There was a mission a few years back that should’ve been a dead giveaway…if Morgan had looked past her own interests when it happened. That’s never really been her strong suit, though.
Deep in the Forest Outside of Wayhaven, Several Years Ago
With Ava and Farah having already downed the Trappers patrolling this area, Neveah and Morgan are hopeful they’ll be able to locate the supernatural they kidnapped. Nat, who stayed behind to look over the area maps, determined this was the most likely location given the routes the patrols followed.
A sudden, shrill sound grates on Morgan’s ears. Grimacing, Morgan activates her radio to communicate with the team. “The target is northeast a few hundred feet…sounds like it might be a cave of some sort. It’s too loud to get a read on how many Trappers there are, though.”
“Understood. I’m reviewing the area maps now. I’ll let you know when I’ve found a good entry point,” Nat’s voice comes over the radio. “Farah and I will circle back to act as additional support. Stand by until we arrive,” Ava orders.
Neveah stops, frowning when she cannot sense whatever Morgan has.  “Wait, how do you know that?” She asks.
“Because the baby crying is making my ears bleed,” Morgan gripes. The youngest Neveah had ever seen the Trappers take were usually 12 or 13, and she had made the mistake of assuming that is what they would find here.
“A baby ?” Neveah’s whole demeanor shifts, a sudden determination taking over her face. She takes off, moving with impressive speed for a human, especially when she is in a dress and navigating a heavily-forested area.
“Neveah!” Morgan barks, but it’s too late. There is no talking her down when she’s like this. Morgan lets out a long-suffering groan and follows close behind her.
“I know the cave you’re talking about!” Neveah calls back.
“That’s not what I’m worried about, sweetheart,” Morgan drawls. She runs a hand through her dark waves, as though that might soothe the twinge in her chest that happens every time Neveah throws herself head-first into danger. “We’re approaching the location now,” Morgan mutters reluctantly into the radio.
“I told you to stand by, Neveah,” Ava scolds over the radio. She doesn’t need to be told to know whose plan this is. “There are supernaturals who rely on voice mimicry to lure their prey. This could be a trap.”
“You sent me because I’d probably be immune.” Neveah reminds her,  breathing heavily as she continues to make her way through the trees.
“The ability could be physical—”
“And what if it's not? What if they’re actually in there?” Neveah cuts Ava off. There is no snark to her question, just the deep genuine worry that can play just about anyone or anything’s heartstrings like a fiddle.
Ava never answers, and Neveah falls quiet as she approaches the entrance to the cave. Neveah can finally hear the baby’s cries, their screaming echoes through the cave, faintly filtering out into the surrounding wilderness.
“Will you shut it up already!?” snaps a Trapper from inside.
“What does it look like I’m trying to do!?” A more feminine voice shouts back. They are both barely audible over the baby screaming. Morgan doesn’t think a creature with such small lungs should be able to make such a loud sustained noise.
It does provide a good distraction though, allowing Neveah and Morgan to peer in and get an idea of the situation. The cave looks to go much deeper and become a much tighter squeeze, but the cavern the Trappers are in is open and fairly flat.
There are four of them in total. One is off to the left digging through his backpack. Two are to the right, and one paces roughly in the center of the cavern bouncing the baby with an irritated scowl on her face. The kid is probably some sort of fae from the magic surrounding it. The aura isn’t particularly strong, but it’s way more than Morgan would expect from a kid so small.
Neveah nods toward the trapper to the left. She then looks at Morgan and tilts her head toward the two on the right. Morgan nods back to show she understands the assignment, and Neveah charges into the cave. At first, the fight is going well. There is a scream from one of the Trappers as Neveah no doubt gets the upper hand on him. Someone’s Volt clatters to the ground behind her, but there’s no scream or thump of a body hitting the ground.
Morgan is almost caught by the prongs on the Trapper’s Volt, but manages to dodge just in time, using the opportunity to counterattack. The woman goes down with a groan. Usually, the hardest part of combat with Trappers is not being allowed to kill them, but she’s distracted right now.
“Okay! Okay,” Neveah pleads, her voice tense with urgency and panic. Morgan stabs the Volt into her final trapper’s side absent-mindedly, all of her attention drawn to the scene behind her. “I’ll come with you. Just…please don’t hurt the baby.”
The final Trapper has the baby in one arm and is holding their modified Volt to Neveah’s back with the other. Neveah raises her hands immediately in surrender, her Volt clattering to the ground. It rolls a few feet away from her…and closer to Morgan. Morgan growls at the Trapper, drawing her attention.
“Stop right there, vampire! Come any closer and I’ll kill it!” Morgan hesitates, and it's not quite as fake as she wants it to be. This may be a ploy, but she knows Neveah really would sacrifice herself for someone else in a heartbeat, which means Morgan has to make sure it doesn’t actually come to that.
Neveah chooses that moment to act, biting down as hard as she can on the arm the Trapper is using to hold the baby. It works as intended, the pain startling her into loosening her grip so Neveah can take the baby away from her. Holding the infant tightly to her chest, Neveah throws herself backward to get away from the blue sparking end of the Volt the Trapper tries to lash out at her with, making sure to land on her back so she takes the brunt of the impact and all of the scrapes.
Not exactly graceful, but it gives Morgan the space she needs to pick up Neveah’s prod and jam it into the Trapper’s ribs. Morgan finds herself turning around before her enemy even hits the floor again, needing to make sure the detective is alright.
For just a moment, Morgan gets to drink in the sight of Neveah with her mouth coated in blood and a sharp feral look in her eyes. That image is going to keep Morgan warm for the next few days.
It fades quickly back into her usual soft, worried expression as she has the chance to regain her bearings from the fall. Neveah shifts her grip to support the infant with one arm so she can use the other to push herself up off the ground. She’s bleeding from a variety of cuts and scrapes, dress and cardigan ruined from the fall. Despite that, all of her attention is directed to the baby, who is entirely unharmed but still crying.
“Shh,” Neveah speaks softly to the infant, bouncing gently and patting its back to try and soothe it. “It’s alright now. We’re going to get you home to your parents.”
Morgan has to shut her eyes and hold her breath for a moment. The adrenaline fading, the kid’s screaming, the scent of Neveah’s blood, and the intense, confusing feelings the situation has inspired are all way too much in combination. She forces herself to concentrate on the sound of Neveah’s gentle cooing, ignoring everything else. The pain fades away almost instantly.
“Are you alright, sweetheart?” Morgan crosses to Neveah in a couple of quick strides, her hand gently grabbing Neveah’s jaw to draw her attention away. Warm brown eyes lock onto her almost immediately, and Morgan uses the opportunity to inspect her closely, looking for any distress Neveah might try to hide from her.
“I’m okay,” Neveah smiles reassuringly, “just scrapes and bruises.” Morgan is pleased to find it’s genuine and lets her go with a nod.
The baby’s screaming gradually peters out to hiccuping gasps, resting its head on Neveah’s shoulder and grabbing little fistfuls of her cardigan to soothe itself. The detective continues to rub the baby’s back with gentle motions, looking down at it with open care and affection.
As they trudge back toward the rendezvous point, Morgan is just grateful that she’s not the one having to handle the baby.

Buried on a Sundae (Coffee & Cream Café Mysteries) by Lena Gregory #Review / #Giveaway - Great Escapes Book Tour - @LenaGregory03 #gemmahallidaypublishing

Buried on a Sundae (Coffee & Cream Café Mysteries) by Lena Gregory About Buried on a Sundae  Buried on a Sundae (Coffee & Cream Café Mysteries) Cozy Mystery 4th in Series Setting - Long Island, NY Publisher ‏ : ‎ Gemma Halliday Publishing (August 27, 2024) Digital: Number of Pages 225 ASIN ‏ : ‎ B0CW1B4V2Y From author Lena Gregory comes a delicious new mystery... Things have been looking up for Danika Delany's business—her uncle's old fashioned malt shop on eastern Long Island. But for her love life? Not so much. After a disastrous date with Detective Jake Barlow, Danika lets her best friends, Gwen and Eli, talk her into a night out at the hottest new nightclub in town. Only, while there, Dani finds her sort-of boyfriend secreted in the shadows on the beach behind the club with crime boss Patrick Johansen’s wife, Angelique! An upset Dani leaves without giving Jake a chance to explain, but when he doesn’t get in touch the next day, she takes a long walk along the beach to reevaluate her love life. That's where she suddenly stumbles across Angelique’s body buried in the dunes near where she last saw her with Jake. Sure that Jake is innocent—of murder at least—Danika and her friends set out to prove Jake had nothing to do with her murder and stop a killer...before they strike again! Dollycas's Thoughts Danika Delany's Coffee & Cream Café continues to thrive but the same can't be said for her romantic relationship with Detective Jake Barlow. They can't seem to make it through a date. Duty always calls. The last date had Dani the "queen of dating mishaps" having a mishap at the town's new restaurant and ending way too soon when Jake receives a phone call and tells her "something's come up" as he headed out the door. Her besties were not going to let her night end early. They talked into going dancing at the hottest new nightclub in town. Seems that Jake's something that came up also brought him to the nightclub. She notices him in a secluded spot on the beach with another woman! Angelique Johansen, the nightclub owner's wife and crime boss, Patrick Johansen. She walks out before he can explain, that is if he wants to. Jake doesn't contact her the next day either. She is angry and hurt and decides a long walk on the beach may help bring her some clarity. The only clear thing is the dead body she finds partially buried in the sand. A body she thinks is Angelique, very close to where she saw her with Jake. Knowing Jake may be a cad but he is no killer Danika and her friends try to find the real person who murdered Angelique before another body is found buried in the dunes or the killer comes after them. ____ I love everything about klutzy clumsy Danika Delaney. She is a genuine individual with a huge heart who just keeps finding herself in the middle of murder investigations. Her sleuthing skills improve each time. Her love interest, Detective Jake Barlow really had his hands full this time with all the shady dealings happening around town and a murderer on the loose.  Danika's friends, Eli and Gwen are on board to help her any way they can even when her ideas are fully thought through or end badly usually with a ton of laughter but sometimes in peril. Danika's family is hilarious especially when when Dani finds a body and is trying to find a killer. They come to the weekly dinners her mother hosts for the food but also for gossip and information. Ms. Gregory has created unique characters and has given them snappy dialogue. They all continue to develop so believably. The mystery was complicated with twists, turns, and red herrings. Ms. Gregory has plotted everything out so well but I fell for more than one of her misdirections. It was a lot of fun trying to untangle the clues and follow along with Dani, Eli, and Gwen. There were so many funny moments but one truly had me laughing out loud so much I had tears in my eyes. I love the way the author blends all the cozy elements together to totally entertain me while still making me think while trying to put all the clues together which I failed at this time. I was surprised when the killer was revealed. The showdown was scary and exhilarating. Warning - You need to have the makings for your favorite ice cream sundae in the house because you will be craving one or more while reading this book.  The Coffee & Cream Café serves up several within these pages. Buried on a Sundae is a delightful cozy mystery that I recommend to all cozy lovers. Engaging characters, a fun theme, small-town happenings, a well-written mystery with tons of humor, and a little bit of romance keep those pages flipping. It's a Perfect Escape! The entire series is wonderful, so I recommend for maximum enjoyment you read the series from the start. Consider them a 4 scoop sundae, you will love every spoonful! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC. Never mind how much a book is worth to you; how much is an author worth to you?
After all, a book is only a shaving off a tree, or a little blip of electricity. An author, on the other hand, is a living being who needs not only reviews and sales, but also coffee (or in my case tea), food, electricity, and occasionally a new laptop. My wife bought me a keyboard that feels and sounds just like a typewriter: It brings me great joy, but also cost about a month's worth of book sales.
Not that it was expensive, I just don't sell that many books.
Tumblr media
Desks, computers, chairs, swords ... writing can be expensive.
How much a reader should pay for a book is a question that's been debated since Gutenberg bought too much ink and ran his first Black Friday sale. Among other things, it depends on your level of fame. The ebook edition of Stephen King's newest book is priced at $14.99, more than some of my print books. Our traditional publisher has our photo-heavy history book Images of America: Albion and Noble County priced at $12.99 as an ebook, and another publisher has my romantic comedy Radio Red at $3.99.
Guess how many books King sells, compared to me? Yep: The answer is "lots".
We do better with our self-published books, which run from 99 cents to $2.99 as ebooks. Fun fact: Some readers refuse to buy 99 cent books, assuming at that price they can't be any good. This assumption is both foolish and wrong. I suspect that price is often an act of desperation by good writers.
On the other end of it, Hoosier Hysterical has lots of pictures, and we can't sell it at less than $2.99 without losing money. That's the best we can do without just giving it away. Hold that thought.
Tumblr media
No matter what the price, it's hard for lesser known authors to get into brick and mortar stores.
So, ten or twelve bucks for an electronic book. Crazy expensive, right? I mean, we don't have to pay for paper, ink, shipping ... how greedy can we be?
But how much is an author worth?
Three times I've written the rough draft of a book in thirty days. That's great, but it took a few weeks to prepare for the writing, then a month or two after to revise it before the story was decent enough for my wife to read. Then there's the revision after she returns it to me. The month of actual writing, when I push it hard, consists of working my full time job, writing, eating while writing, and nothing else. Some people can get books out the door faster, but I have to think they don't have full time jobs.
The old joke: An author can't make enough money to write full time until he's written and sold enough books, which he can't do until he writes full time.
So it goes.
So, a dollar for something it took me at least three months to produce, not including all the time spent on promotion and advertising? Writers are worth more than that. Even me.
Which brings us to giving books away for free.
Tumblr media
Some authors swear that giving their ebooks away gets them so much attention that people come back and buy their other books, thus advancing their career in the long run. That seems to work for them, but it's not been my experience. Just the same, every July for the last few years I've entered the one novel I have up on Smashwords, Coming Attractions, into the Smashwords Summer/Winter sale.
Has it resulted in more readers for the other books? Not that I've noticed. It doesn't even lead to that many readers picking it up for free. Smashwords has a lot of authors, so my deal has to fight for attention with all those other deals. On the other hand, my sales aren't great in July to begin with, and it doesn't seem to be doing me any harm, either.
I'm curious how you, both the reader and the writer, feel on the subject. Maybe I'll try other giveaways at some point, even though I don't think authors should have to do that. I also don't think authors should have to spend so much time promoting and advertising, but welcome to the real world. How do you feel on the subject?
Oh, and Coming Attractions is free here:
But you already knew that.
Tumblr media
Summer themed. Well, kinda.

Same Day Document Courier Service - An Overview
The times of waiting for days to receive a deal were a norm. In the age of high-speed internet connectivity, time is a precious commodity which explains why businesses big and small are always trying for methods to enhance their processes. Consider delivery services which can be exactly the same day. They're changing the logistics industry changing the way in which businesses communicate using their clients and transforming the entire delivery process. Look at this scenario if you need to rush important documents to a person across town. Before this, it could cause a flurry of calls, endless waiting on hold, and inconvenient delays. However, with the advent of delivery services that deliver same-day, this job is now accomplished with unbeatable efficiency and precision. They've an enormous array of services created to meet up the different requirements of businesses. If you require documents delivered on the same day in addition to express delivery as well as international shipping These companies can satisfy your requirements. Can you require the package to be picked up within one hour? There's no issue.
Tumblr media
Do you want to send your goods across the planet by across the close later in the day? You are able to do it. However, it's not only about speed, but reliability too. In the current highly competitive business world, where time is the most important factor, punctuality isn't an option. Deliveries that happen same-day provide the absolute most rapid and reliable service to make certain packages get with their destinations at the right time, without difficulties. In addition, the convenience provided through these services is a lot more than fast delivery. Most couriers that operate on the same day offer user-friendly websites that permit customers to plan pickups, track their deliveries, and stay up-to-date on the latest technological advancements. December 2023 Reading Update!
Despite how busy November was, I finished a bunch of things (though there were two short novellas and a DNF in there, to be fair)! So there's a bunch of mini-reviews ahead, balanced by the fact that December is a quiet month for publishing, so I don't have anything big to highlight coming up.
So here's the Keep Reading break for the Long Post ahead!
November Mini-Reviews
The Forest Brims Over by Maru Ayase - 4 stars
Each of the chapters is told from a different perspective, circling inward to Rui herself at the end. There's a lot of examination over gender roles and iniquities, though it plays a little softball with the subject for my taste. I tend to prefer when women are allowed their full rage, and kinda feel some folks were let off the hook a little easy.
Lone Women by Victor LaValle - 5 stars
This was a wild ride; I understand why folks can't say too much about this one, because the journey takes many unexpected turns. What you can expect is for the chills to come from human sources at least as often as supernatural ones. I'm more interested than ever to pick up The Changeling from LaValle now, as I've heard it's incredible, too.
Fresh Dirt from the Grave by Giovanna Rivero - DNF
As much as I enjoyed the first couple stories, there were iffy things in the next two or three that put me off, particularly with portrayals of Indigenous folks and disability. Chose not to finish and to leave it unrated.
The Crane Husband by Kelly Barnhill - 4.5 stars
Heartbreaking. Hard to say much without revealing too much for this short novella. Just be warned it's a lot of parental neglect and abuse for the main character.
Feed Them Silence by Lee Mandelo - 3 stars
I could make a full post as long as this one about my thoughts on this little novella. I will say the main character's already a mess going in, and the time spent with the wolf is actually not a whole lot. I could see the points the book was making, but the execution wasn't quite there for some of them. The prose was good, and I'm still interested in their novel, Summer Sons, for now.
Current December Reads
Speaking Bones by Ken Liu
Almost halfway through! Just got through a battle that lasted 100 pages, due to interludes about the development of the technologies involved, and that's delightfully typical of this series. 😹
Loot by Tania James
Almost 1/3rd through. Pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying this, so far. As a history nerd, I personally recommend looking up the situation in Mysore, India around the time of Tipu Sultan's reign for extra context and immersion.
Organ Meat by K-Ming Chang
Less than 50 pages in, but already noted down so many bits of prose I adore. This is absolutely not for everybody, both for sheer quantity of bodily fluids and functions mentioned, but also its shifting narrative style. So far chapters have been in first person POV, third person POV, and pure dialog written in a script-like format. Absolutely loving it.
Recent Acquisitions
The Lizard Prince and Other South American Stories
I forgot to mention I received my copy of this from Iron Circus Comics a couple months ago, after backing their crowdfunding for it last year! This completes their Cautionary Fables & Fairytales series, covering the stories of six continents!
Tomb Sweeping by Alexandra Chang
My pick from Book of the Month for December! It's an anthology of short fiction spanning the US and parts of Asia.
There's a lot to do this month for the holidays and preparations for the new year, so I'm not loading up my reading radar for now. If I finish Loot, I'll likely pick up my other giveaway win, Our Shadows Have Claws, so I can review it. If I finish Organ Meats, the next library read will depend on a few things, including how accessible my preferred branches are with holiday hours and inclement weather concerns 🙀
Until next time, look forward to my posts for my Favorite Reads of 2023 and Favorite New Music of 2023, which I'll migrate here in lieu of the traditional Twitter threads.
Thanks for reading, and happy holidays!

Mistakes to avoid while printing a t-shirt
When printing t-shirts, it’s comfortable to bustle into the process. Maybe you have a deadline, or you are too excited about the result. While there is a lot of capital to be made in this business, there are also many areas where you can stutter and go incorrect if you are not cautious. Here you can check out the Mistakes to avoid while printing a t-shirt:
Tumblr media
Not Paying Attention to Fabric Types
The fabric material is one factor that must maintain. Consider that the fabric acts as the canvas of your artwork. And a terrible canvas can quickly ruin your work of art. Even though the printing industriousness brags about a diverse selection of fabrics, it is worth noting that not all materials work the same. Various T-shirt Printing Bulk techniques interact with fabric in distinct ways. Hence, it is crucial to determine what fabric works best for your planned printing method.
Low-quality designs
A mistake many people make is the digital quality of their vision that they require printing. If the image isn’t high-quality, it can signify that the effect looks pixelated or barely blurred/incorrect. It is quite typical in cases where people run through the process without checking picture files and sizes. Always review that your image is big and high quality adequately to be stretched onto a Cheap Bulk T-shirt Printing UK.
Choosing Intricate Designs
What is the most critical element when it comes to T-shirt Printing London? You may consider that nothing matters more than its design, but it can make or break your masterpiece when it comes to t-shirt designs, clarity triumphs over intricacy. However, it would help if you were more excited and open about unleashing your creativity, resulting in excessively messy shirt designs. Remember that the final thing you want is to have too much going on in your t-shirt.
Final Thoughts
With the help of the above points, you could know the mistakes to avoid while printing a t-shirt. Exceptional t-shirt designs make for perfect gifts, souvenirs, and even giveaways, and being mindful of some common mistakes.

You always need to look out for ways to make money that are passive. You need to earn money every month and double it. Here are my top creative ideas to make money online. These real methods have worked in past and will work now and then too.
Freelancing
You would have heard a lot of this from others. But yes, this is the first best way to earn some cash before starting out your business. It will help to get some extra money into your pocket as well as fund a little for your software if you are starting out. You can start freelancing with no investment upfront. It's FREE. Don’t worry if you think you don’t have any skills. You can learn small skills by taking a free trial in skillshare. There are tons of gigs people are looking for to get their work done and with the right process, you can make money as a freelancer.
By the year 2027, freelancers are projected to make up the majority of the workforce in the United States, with 50.9% of the working population. In fact, at the current growth rate, it’s estimated that 67.6 million Americans will be freelancing by the end of 2021. That’s 42% of the American workforce! (Website planet).
What are you waiting for? Search in-demand gigs on google keywords and search trends. And yes, patience is the key. You need to wait a few weeks while you get your first gig. Start promoting your services on social media and find your spot.
Starting a Blog
As of 2021, there are more than 570 million blogs on the internet, based on activities reported by WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger, Wix, Squarespace, and Medium (and this number is constantly growing) (firstsiteguide).
Now do not get overwhelmed, the one thing is though blogs are growing rapidly, and so are people reading blogs. Of course, blogs are saturated, but when you niche down and find your audience then you can achieve your space in this sea of bloggers.
Starting a blog, yesterday, today, tomorrow, is possible as long as you are using proper rules, like optimizing your SEO, giving unique content to your readers, and more. But, the best day to start blogging for your profit is today and now.
Let us look at some stats on why you should start your blog today
61% of online shoppers in the US say they made a purchase after getting a recommendation from a blog post
Companies that blog actively have 126% better lead growth
80% of bloggers say that they see positive business results from their blogging efforts
Blogs affect customers’ buying decisions as 47% of them go through 3 to 5 blog posts before the buying process (Firstsiteguide)
Give me a better reason why you should not start a blog after these mind-blowing facts.
You can start a niche blog, review blog, cooking blog, gaming blog, parenting blog, and more. Just write what you know or keep an eye on your competitors and outperform them. And blogging is the best for your long-term passive income.
Starting a YouTube channel
Now as we’ve known how YouTube has evolved to be like a video search engine, the platform has grown considerably and is been growing millions of YouTubers.
Again, let’s talk about some statistics about YouTube. YouTube has 2.3 billion users worldwide.
79 percent of Internet users have their own YouTube account.
YouTube viewers watch over a billion hours of video on the platform every day and generate billions of views. (YouTube, 2021)
YouTube is localized in more than 100 countries and is available in 80 languages. (YouTube, 2021)
Every day people watch one billion hours of video on YouTube (source-Oberlo)
Now, the real question is how to make money out of YouTube? Well, there is enough space for you to sink in. Are you a coach, fitness enthusiastic, a person with good communication, or even just an individual with no skills at all? You can make videos, monetize your YouTube account, and earn from AdSense and affiliate marketing.
Umm! Some people may say that YouTube is not for me. I don’t know how to make and produce videos. I don’t have any skills. Well, I have a solution for that. You can make money from YouTube absolutely by not showing your face at all.
Here are some of the niches you can make videos y not showing your face.
If u do not want to record videos, you can head up to free stock videos or images and give a voice-over and start making content.
If you feel shy to start, you will never get ahead. So, the one thing I want to tell to everyone who is shy to make videos and for my younger self, stop doubting yourself. Just do it, don’t care about criticism, success will follow you
Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is when a person earns a commission for referring a product to others. For eg: You register yourself as an affiliate to promote certain products, when the person you promote the product click on your unique affiliate link and purchases through your link you earn a commission. A commission can range for each and every product.
And the affiliate marketing model is the best, safe model for beginners. You can drive traffic for free and for paid as well. You can be an affiliate marketer if you need a passive income, you don’t need to have any other customer support, you can work from home at your own comfort.
Now, how to register as an affiliate. First, think of what do you like the most. What products do you love using? Type the name in google and see whether there is an affiliate program or just see other affiliate programs in your niche. Choose the one you love so that you don’t feel tired and exhausted in the long run.
There are many other sites where you can choose your products from. You can take products from Click bank, Digistore24, Share a Sale, Jvzoo, and similar other platforms.
Here are the best affiliate platforms for you to choose from
How do you want to promote is the next question?
Well, you can create landing pages in click funnels, kartra, or builderall and promote them through ads. If you are on your budget, you could start a blog and promote it. You can write blogs for free on medium.com. It is a cost-effective way to sell your products. You can create a YouTube channel, talk about how you love using those products, and promote them, you could even use Pinterest to promote your blogs and landing pages.
We all know that Pinterest is a visual search engine and no doubt you can get quite a good sale from affiliate marketing in Pinterest
Once you get your first sale and testimonials you can start your Instagram page and build trust with others to promote the products and scale your business.
Instagram Influencer
Do you love making TikTok videos, always want to be active on social media? Then here is your chance to start earning being an Instagram influencer.
You can start by creating content about the topic you want to talk about the most. If creating a YouTube channel feels a bit challenging, grow your audience and monetize them through Instagram. Feel free to talk about what you feel.
Collect your follower's email IDs. Once you become consistent with the audience and platform, the content you are generating makes a digital course or something you think to monetize your people. Giveaway a lot of freebies, checklists, and many other things to lead your audience to the product you are offering. Build trust with them and try to use all of Instagram's available channels. Use carousals, reels, IGTV, go live to show behind the scenes of your work, and more!.
Staying consistent is the key to grow your audience on Instagram.
Starting a T-Shirt Business
Whether you’re an artist, writer, designer, or entrepreneur, physical products can be the perfect canvas for monetizing your creativity. Yes, you heard that right. You can start your own merch for free. Starting an online T-shirt business is booming in this era an why don’t you be one of them. You do not need to hold any inventory, just design your t-shirt online and publish it.
Let me make it clear. So what is print on demand? How to start your free t-shirt business
Print on demand is a process where you work with a supplier to customize white-label products (like baseball hats or tote bags) with your own designs to sell them on a per-order basis under your own brand.
That means you don’t pay for the product until after you’ve actually sold it, so there’s no need to buy in bulk or hold any inventory yourself.
Plus, with print-on-demand services, everything after the sale, from printing to shipping, is handled by your supplier. Once you’ve set everything up, it takes only a few clicks to fulfill an order once you’ve made a sale.
You can use print-on-demand services to:
Test a business idea or new product line for an existing business without the risks that come with buying inventory.
Monetize an audience you’ve built. Printing on demand is a great option if you’re a YouTuber, cartoonist, or social media influencer who wants to spend your time creating content instead of fulfilling orders.
Create original products for a niche of customers. For example, apparel for people who are passionate about gaming.
Easily print one-off items—t-shirts, books, shoes, bags, wall art, phone cases, clocks, laptop skins, mugs, and so much more. You can send these as gifts or keep them for yourself and your team (source-Shopify)
You can get started with print on demand for almost free with teespring, redbubble, printful . Or you can start your online store on Shopify and sell them as a custom branding.
Do not worry if you are not a pro in graphic designing. You can design your t-shirt on canva and paste the design on your t-shirt too. This is a legitimate and easy business for beginners online. You can promote your merch by using SEO, keywords, and various social platforms.
Let's take a look at the print on demand statistics:
This statistic depicts the market value of the custom t-shirt printing market worldwide from 2016 to 2025. In 2016, the global custom t-shirt printing market was valued at 1.16 billion U.S. dollars, and was forecast to reach a value of 3.1 billion U.S. dollars by 2025.
This is insane amount the industry is making from print-on-demand only.

Online Tutoring
Again, online tutoring is gaining massive demand in this digital age. During the pandemic the online tutoring business was a boom and it will be more in the coming years. Just teach people what you know. There are many people in this world who want to learn and are ready to pay for it.
Whether you know to speak English, or drawing, graphic designing, marketing, business, or anything that matters, turn your own skill into a business
You can tutor in paid platforms like cambly, Oakary, iTutor, or just start teaching in YouTube and create tour own course and sell it. You can create courses and teach in udemy too. People all over the world are searching to learn skills and may be you can teach them what you know and monetize your skills.
Amazon KDP [ Selling E-books and low content books ]
As I told you print on demand is a big thing and so does amazon KDP is too. What is KDP? Amazon KDP is nothing but kindle direct publishing. KDP allows you to self-publish eBooks and paperbacks for free. Amazon gives you direct access to your book on Amazon and allows you to create a product detail page for your book. It also gives you the option to expand your book’s availability on a global scale, making it more accessible for readers around the world. Publishing with KDP gives you full rights to your book, which is not something a traditional publishing house typically allows.
What types of content can I publish through KDP?
KDP allows you to publish eBooks (Kindle) and paperback books. However, KDP does not allow the creation of magazines, periodicals, or spiral-bound books.
Content types typically published using KDP include but are not limited to the following:
Novels
Book Series
Children’s Books
Comics
Cookbooks
Journals
Poetry
Textbooks (source: amazon.com)
Selling Photography
Are you a photographer? Are you making enough money? If no then this will help you , if yes you are gonna make an extra dime.
You can sell your beautiful photos on Getty Images, Pexels, Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and many more sites and earn money whenever your image is downloaded. If it is a subscription-based site then your earnings will be more. You can post your beautiful images on Instagram and become famous. Ultimately you can collaborate with various brands for their product photography.
If your camera is lying there near you, take it and start clicking pictures and sell your photos online.
Selling on Etsy
Etsy is an online market place that works as an intermediary between customers and artists, crafters of handmade items or collectors of vintage products. The company engages in customer to customer (C2C) or peer to peer (P2P) e-commerce in which both the seller and the buyer are private individuals or micro-businesses. This is in contrast to other forms of internet commerce such as B2C or B2B (source: Statista).
Let's head to our facts about how profitable it is to sell on Etsy
Etsy had over 2.5 million sellers at the end of 2019, and we can only expect that this number has increased.
Etsy sellers live all over the world, in 234 countries
62% of Etsy sellers are based in the US.
California is home to the most Etsy sellers with 14% of US-based Etsy shops. (credits: veeqo)
Etsy is a huge commerce platform, with an especially strong US presence. Plus, the fact that most sellers are multi-channel retailers—and also selling their products on marketplaces like Amazon and Shopify sites—suggests that the platform isn’t just for amateur makers. It’s for eCommerce businesses.
So if you’re already selling handmade or vintage products on another platform, it’s worth it to expand and start selling on Etsy.
If you’re starting a business, it’s important to run the numbers before setting up shop—or at least quitting your day job. Etsy does have associated costs, though it’s worth noting that the listing and transaction fees are lower than other platforms, like Amazon and eBay. (cre: veeqo)
So, if you can start your print on demand you can sell it on Etsy too. If you are good at handicrafts Etsy is the best place to promote.
Conclusion
So here are the top 10 ways where in you can make legitimate money online. You can try all these methods one by one. Well, everyone will look for quick methods to make money online, but those won’t suffice for long run.
If you should build a strong business online you need to stay consistent no matter what. Staying consistent will help audience grow along with you on your journey to make money online. For beginners starting out these methods will help you in starting out to make a dime or two.
One thing I need to make particular is you will not see results instantly. You need to try and try, keep on trying. Whether it is 2 weeks, 1 month or 3 months, you should not stop. Keep up that grind and let’s start the digital lifestyle. Start by making money online fore free with these methods and start investing in ads and make the business run for you in long run.

Okay, this is a quick review for Citizens AND Neighbors. Basically all my mutuals who might be interested. Not related to any of my usual review formats, but I felt like doing a quick one because I want to recommend a book series that I really like and plan to reread while I’m still in quarantine.
Okey dokey, let’s do this quickly!
Tumblr media
“The Secrets of the Immortal Nicolas Flamel” is by far one of my favorite books. My best friend recommended it to me a while back and I finished it over the course of a few days. Probably would’ve been sooner if I wasn’t on a family trip at the time.
The books tell the story about twins from San Francisco, Josh and Sophie Newman, who find out that the people they were working for during the summer are actually immortals (Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel) and basically that’s where all sorts of magical adventures happen.
The premise is an interesting “what if” scenario: What if there were immortal historical figures secretly living among us and what if deities from various mythologies were real?
Now, this isn’t the first time a fantasy series tackles mythology but I think the books have an interesting spin on it. Without spoiling, I can only say that instead of picking the “all myths are true” route that would be a more common choice, Michael Scott chooses the “all myths have kernels of truth in them” approach and runs with it.
Seriously, there are references to various pantheons, some heroes from folklore (mostly Irish folklore) show up and local deities are pretty well done in my opinion, mostly via playing with myths about them.
The book series also has magic in it, but I like how thought out it is. Again, no spoilers but there’s quite a few rules in place and, of course, magic comes with a price. This makes the stakes higher and doesn’t allow the characters to just blast their problems with a fireball.
Speaking of problems, the main conflict isn’t just between good and evil. Here both sides have a point and both have done good and bad stuff so readers have an opportunity to choose who to root for. Which is awesome!
Oh, and sometimes the series gets somewhat dark without sliding into cynicism and grimdark. Nothing intimate or gory, but it’s one of those book series where if a character is offed, that’s it. No resurrections, no giveaway checkers like that. So if you want magic with zero freebies and zero room for cheating, here you go.
Okay, fangirling aside, I have a minor complaint about the way the story yeets the reader pretty much straight into action and only allows us to get to know the characters afterwards. Personally, I prefer it when characters are established before the action commences, but the books don’t drag it out so it’s not exactly too annoying.
There are also flashbacks related to lives of historical figures who show up in the series and that can get a bit annoying, bu it’s still not a major issue because they do serve a purpose of getting to know those people and the way immortality has affected them. I just wish there weren’t so many flashbacks.
Last but not least, there are some fantasy clichés like “chosen ones” ™️ and “the prophecy” ™️, but here these tropes are explored in a really refreshing way. Can’t spoil anything but basically Josh and Sophie are believed to be the Twins of Legend. One to save the world, one to destroy it. Yet it’s ambiguous if they actually are those twins up to the very end to the point that almost nobody is truly sure.
(Side note: Usually I don’t like media where the world as we know it is at stake because I prefer smaller scale conflicts, but this one is done quite well and I was on the edge of my seat.)
So yeah, sorry for the rambling but I’m just excited to recommend this series to everyone who loves mythology, folklore, interesting tales on old tropes, history and complex characters!
The entire series can be downloaded for free in English in pdf, but you can also check bookstores in your area or buy ebooks or audiobooks. There are tons of ways to obtain the entire series. Whichever you prefer is up to you, but I think that at least some of you will love it!
Okay, now my rambling is over. See you soon!
Love,

Simblr Asks - TS3
I saw these questions here, and I’m in a procrastinating mood.
1. are you going to buy the new pack (cottage living) when it comes out? Thoughts on Cottage Living:
Should’ve been a Game Pack. Another display of EA cramming TS4 with crap that’s as big as the ocean, but with the depth of a frikkin puddle. How TF an EXPANSION PACK came without any new skills or careers is beyond me, but Cottage Living did it, so hey. Speaking of hay, at least the cows & chickens are better. They’d better be, for $40. Thank god for the Llamas though, otherwise I would’ve never been interested in this dang pack.
2. do you p*rate your dlc or buy it legitimately?
Fortunately for me, half the TS3 content I have I won in contests & giveaways, or it was Gifted to me. The rest I bought on DEEP sales, cuz eff buying anything from EA at full price. And I got TS4 when EA gave it away for free, cuz patience is a freaking virtue. But there's definitely some garbage out there (*cough* Kits) I legitimately think you’re morally obligated to Yo Ho Ho.
Tumblr media
3. what’s your favorite world?
EA: Shang Simla (World Adventures). CC: Boroughsburg (Potato-Ballad-Sims). My wish is to have a world/save that incorporates BOTH--an Asian Boroughsburg, or a futuristic/modern Shang Simla, but Japanese.
4. if you use a queue, how many posts per day do you set it as?
1 post on my main blog, 2 on my personal/inspo blogs, and anywhere from 1-5 on my CC finds blogs (depending on how much CC there is to catch up on).
5. do you watch sims on youtube?
Plenty. I miss Lazy Game Reviews--I think he’s effing done with EA & TS4, which is equally hilarious and sad at the same time. The Red Plumbob is probably my fave right now. I watch Pleasantsims for nostalgic TS2 content. And I watch A LOT of TS4 simmers, out of morbid curiosity to see just how bad the Kits and packs are.
6. what are your thoughts on the most recent pack? (dream home decorator)
Strong contender for Y’all Hear Sum’n? on Kenya’s scale. 🙄
7. how many packs/kits do you own?
I will never buy or even bother pirating those dumba$$ Kits, EA can eff right off. Anyone can do clothes & clutter for free; what 👏  is 👏  the 👏  point 👏 , other than a total effing cash grab.
Tumblr media
8. what’s your origin id? is it the same as your url?
I only ever sim offline.
9. is your simblr your sideblog or main blog?
Main blog. Then I realized how expansive Tumblr is, and created 1001 sideblogs for stuff I do outside of simming.
10. do you have a cc finds blog?
Plenty, plus extras I don’t even advertise the way I probably should. U_U
11. are you wcif friendly?
Yes. I understand that some people are shy though, which is why I try to add CC Credits to my gameplay posts, with links to the CC I use. But I’m so effing lazy that sometimes I don’t.
12. what’s your favorite sized household to play with? (ex. 1 sim, 4 sims)
Because my gameplay is often tv or video game inspired, my households are often massive (a dozen+ sims). Sometimes I break off the nuclear unit from the auxiliary characters (often my top 4-6 characters), and have them in my active household to control them directly, while I let the other sims roam free in another house(hold) or something.
13. if you have c&d, do you play with pets?
I love the Pets EP. I can't decide which I like more: cats, dogs, or horses. The horses are 100% essential for my historical gameplay, I can’t even. And I like that we can directly control the animals--I actually wish we could do more with the small pets, too (reptiles, birds, fish, etc). IMO, TS4′s C&D is a crying shame, and MFPS can go straight to hell. TS3′s unicorns would like a word with MFPS.
Tumblr media
14. what lifespan do you use?
Young Adult, though I use Kids a lot more now, thanks to PuddingFace’s Enhanced Witches Mod letting kids use magic.
15. if you own a lot of packs, how many of them have you actually played through?
Everything in TS3, though I’ve never been able to play through all the content. Even in Supernatural there are things I haven’t done yet. I have no intention of owning even 1/3 of TS4′s packs.
16. what do you do as you play sims? (ex. listen to music)
Listen to music--I have specific playlists for specific gameplay.
17. which sims challenges have you tried?
I don’t do challenges, I cheat too much.
18. do you like the new(ish) hair swatches?
Eff swatches; they don’t hold a candle to CASt. Hair in TS4 is 100% garbage. That clayfied crap makes my blood boil. The only time I even marginally like it is when people do those rainbow recolors; those are super cute.
Tumblr media
19. post the latest screenshot you took 📸
That’s top secret information; I have CC sets I’m preparing for upload.
20. what is the cc/ingame hair that looks the most like your own?
That’s never been made.
21. who is your favorite sim of yours and what is their story?
Sakura Rain is my Japanese cherry tree fairy from the future.
Nasir ibn Hema is my smol hissing Syrian from the past.
22. if you use cc, are there any cc creators that you have like ALL of their items?
Luna & Silfantasy.
23. what’s one pack you think is underrated?
TS3: Into the Future Expansion Pack. TS4: Vintage Glamour Stuff Pack.
ITF is hands down the most unique pack EA ever made. If you like sci-fi, there’s no way you can pass up on it, ITF adds waaaaaay too much good content & gameplay. But there are so many simmers that hate fantasy in general, as a rule, and they crap all over Supernatural, too. So ITF got a lot of heat mostly cuz it was the very last EP, and the very last chance simmers could get something they wanted. But considering the lack of futuristic gameplay we tend to have, it was high time EA did a pack like ITF for once.
As for VG, that was when I first started realizing that EA was doing something drastically different with the SPs in TS4. It’s a sad state of affairs that the SPs in TS4 are becoming some of its most interesting content, particularly since they’ve started adding in new lifestates, gameplay, and premium content. That was never the case in TS3, and very very rarely in TS2. Even though people scoff at the Butlers & Bar Globes, I love that kind of content, particularly for historical gameplay.
24. what are your favorite sims stories/legacies?
I really like the holiday stories @danjaley does; over at 3 Hazelnuts.
Tumblr media
25. if you could change certain small thing(s) about ts4, what would it be?
Where do I even effing begin, EA.
