The Everheart brooch got a new description in A Series of Dusks expansion!

This confirmed that the brooch was 100% handcrafted by Isolde herself. I wonder if accessory/jewelry making might be a hobby of hers? As far as I know, it's not a very common activity among the upper-class ladies, and it's nice to think she's doing something purely out of passion rather than just to maintain her image as a lady.

Also, a fun fact I can't believe I just found recently: Turquoise is a December birthstone, and Topaz is a November birthstone.

Isolde quite literally paired her own birthstone and Kakania's together on a brooch called "Everheart." Why are gay people like this.
#on the topic of isolde and jewelry making: I wonder if she made some of the jewelries she wears?#her insight 1 jewelries are made by artisan ofc. but I like to think she started to freely wear her own jewelries like in her new garment#reverse 1999#isolde#kakania#isokania#a series of dusks#r1999💫#r1999📖#now presenting vingler's mirror

The consequence for betraying the Foundation is death.
The Foundation has a special way of preventing betrayal. The Arcane Skill "Scorching Heart" seems to be cast on all Field Agents. It can be activated remotely and works by burning the traitor's heart, thus killing them.
Sonetto is also a field agent. I don't know if other departments also have this spell cast on them.
Speculation time!
If Vertin chooses to defect, the puppy would die if she tried to follow. That being said, Vertin might have this spell on her too despite being an independent department. I'm assuming she has a lot more wiggle room since she is indispensable in their Storm research.
In the beginning, I thought it made sense that Vertin tries to accomplish her goals from within the Foundation since they can provide her resources (much like Semmelweis). She can find leads about the Storm, find clues about her mother, and rescue more arcanists with the Foundation backing her up (like funding, granting her access to other countries, giving her new tech, etc). I didn't see her abandoning the Foundation and living her life peacefully in the Suitcase because she has goal to achieve.
But what if Vertin actually can't leave? They might kill her instead of letting her fall into Manus's hands. Or, they could pull an Arcana. They could find an excuse to punish the people closest to her in retaliation. Vertin might be ready to face the consequences, but she won't let them do that to her people. She cares about her friends too much to let them take the fall for her.
Which is exactly what happened during the Break-Away event. Her friends were Reversed and she was the only survivor.

I’m coming back to my thought process on Kakania and how she can’t have full sympathy after what she caused in Vienna. After starting A Series of Dusks a bit, Semmelweis is actually the perfect outside perspective because she’s someone who IS in Kakania’s intended field. She’s someone who’s mentally ill but generally coping, and accepting who she is inside and letting that be apart of herself is to her benefit. But at the same time, through Semmelweis, we’re seeing a complete outsiders perspective of Kakania. Semmelweis doesn’t NEED to listen to her talk about the things going on in Vienna in order to piece together the mystery of the Storm, she’s there to look for other people, and Kakania is in the way of that by not only rambling. But Kakania KNOCKED HER OUT IN THE FIRST PLACE! She’s extremely premature to act, in part BECAUSE of how young and under qualified she is, and she doesn’t listen to others well as evidenced by her story trailer with her father. Semmelweis FINISHED her sentence about how she wasn’t hostile or needed anything from Kakania and it was a misunderstanding, but Kakania still tried to knock her out without any further investigation. When that didn’t work she proceeded to blast her with light to knock her out entirely, only thinking to drag her back to her clinic after a second look in her mirror proved Semmelweiss wasn’t there to be hostile. Mind you, directly following up with demands to know about her mental state as an explanation for what she saw in the mirror. Being demanding of people with struggles not only to divulge personally information is one demon, but on top of that Kakania lorded ethics above her as well. In both the simple and true meaning of ethics, Kakania has no right to demand to know whether someone is ill or not. In fact it’s unethical and even more rude to ask someone who she has no professional relationship to about their status’, she also lacks the credibility to be asking such a thing because she isn’t a doctor.
Semmelweis’ familiarity with hallucinations also gave a glimpse on what it was like to actively be under Kakania’s spell, and it’s clear to see why it was so distressing for Isolde afterwards. Kakania was likely used to using her arcanum as a way to seek insight on people. She can use it to peek into a true nature of a person as well as their intentions in that moment. It’s a useful weapon but the way that she used it with Isolde was the least effective method. If her mirror reflects the true self using her arcanum, Isolde was sent into her own [Room] where she saw herself crumbling under her own maddess: the sight she called horrible and ugly which sent her into a psychotic break. What’s important to note in that scene is the way Kakania’s mirror was fully turned towards Isolde, Kakania’s arcanum is for her to interpret the meaning to. Others can’t tell what the mirror means and will only see a reflection of the true self, that more often than not a person had tried to bury, coming to the surface. Isolde’s true self likely confronted her in the same way Semmelweis’ did. Mirrors in therapy is a method used to this day because they're effective, but their effectiveness is in part because what a person decides to be is also who they are. Isolde saw her true self as someone deep into their sickness, and saw that others might be able to see it on the outside already, and it sent her into even further down. The combination of her arcanum and unprofessionalism is in big part as to why their meeting went so poorly.
She’s hasty and borderline pushy with the way she doesn’t listen to others to the point that Isolde’s faulty narrative is really shown here. Through Marcus and Hofmann’s perspectives we saw Karl as an average and mildly corrupt politician, and through Isolde we saw him as a person who wanted to marry the girl he helped raise (and burn out) in order to use her as a way into the Dittarsdorf’s family power. Semmelweis however sees him as most people in Vienna do, a good man who means well while often overlooking things on accident. One thing Isolde hates the most is pushy people without boundaries, something Kakania is very evidently shown herself to be. But Isolde’s narrative is so bias that the main way we see Kakania is smart and capable; a beacon of justice.
Then to Semmelweis, Kakania is far more accurate to what she is. Kakania is a very young woman who wants to do good in the world, but isn’t patient enough to build herself into someone capable of making change. She’s talkative and hasty, she’s pushy and doesn’t listen well to those around her despite being a therapist. While it gives her tunnel vision at times, she does care about the people she visits. But she’s just too underqualified and inexperienced to do anything significant. She’d be a really pitiful and tragic character like Marcus, someone who was thrust into the Storm and met with several unfortunate incidents which tore her apart from her loved ones, but even the story itself tells us in The Atlas that Kakania IS the issue and she WAS the catalyst. The Manus would’ve succeeded even if they had to work directly, but then Kakania wouldn’t have been apart of it and Isolde would’ve left them to stay with her.

This is just some Semmelweis fan theory. I think why Semmelweis is different from Hoffman siblings despite being half arcanist without arcane power is at least the siblings have each other. They have a sense of belongness that ah "This is my brother" or "This is my sister" "And yeah we're both half but no arcane skills" so they don't mind having no power. Semmelweis on other hand is alone ever since so she's been seeking a place to belong all her life. She might envy Greta because of that. Bella is a result of that wish of her. Even if its just an hallucination and pitiful wish, it still give her sense of belongness.
Connecting that with her story with Lorelei. She realized there is a person who care for her and save her without asking anything in return even though this girl is mad(Lorelei). So its easier for her to see Lorelei as her family figure and benefactor than Valentina. It make sense Bella need to disappear in Lorelei's ending because she's no longer seeking refuge from her hallucination if she has Lorelei as her family.

#maybe if valentina became pathetic and beg her semmelweis will probably let her in her family reluctantly lol#semmelweis#a series of dusks#r1999#reverse 1999

2.6 NEWS! And deepdrive
I don't know if anyone have made a post about this, but anyway here is what was in the broadcast. But eather way. I decided to write a little deep drive to the CN 2.6 Dev Broadcast.
1. Therelease date of the PV.
The PV will be released on February 21.
2. Story, place, and title of the new chapter
And 2.6 will be a main story update. The story will take place in Argentina, more specificly in Ushuaia.
The title of the new chapter will be "Madness and Civilization", which is a refrenc to the book Madness and Civilization by the Franch philosopher Michel Foucault.
2.a) Madness and Civilization, and the posible themes the new chapter will have

Madness and Cicilization, or Madness and Civilization: A History of Insanity in the Age of Reason as it's full name, is an examination of the evolution of the meaning of madness in cultures, laws, politics, philosophy, and medicing in Europe from the middle ages to the end of the 18th century. The book is also a critique of the idea of history and of the historical method.
The books uses the language of phenomenology, a part of sociology that examines the concept of social reality as a product of intersubjectivity, in order to explain the social structeres in the history of Othering of insane people from society. This book is Foucault's philosphicall progress from phenomenology towoards something similar to structuralism, which is also a part of social sciences and is about interpreting elements of human culture by way of their relationship to a broader system.
Although Foucault rejected the label.
3. New characters, and the things they refrenc or are based on.
We will get 2 new 6 starts characters. Ficciones and Aleph.
3.a) Ficciones

Ficciones is a refrenc to a book writen by Argentine writer and poet Jorge Luis Borges. The book is a colection of short stories, and was written and published between 1941 and 1956. The book is dedicated to Esther Zamborain de Torres Duggan a firned and collabrorator of Borges. The writing style of Ficciones emphasizes and calls attention to it's fictional nature.
The labyrinth is a recurring motif throughout the stories. It is used as a metaphore to represent a variety of things. The overwhelmingly complex nature of worlds and the systems that exist on them. Human enterprises, the physical and mental aspects of humans, and abstract consepts such as time.
Other themes that can be found throughout Borges's stories include: philosophical issues, deterioration and ruination, games of strategy and chance, conspiracies and secrets societies, and ethnic groups especially those in his own ancestry.
3.b) Aleph
Aleph s the first letter of the Semetic abjads. An abjad is a writing system in which only consonants are represented, leaving the vowel sounds to be inferred by the reader.
Semetic abjads include Phoenician, Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac, Arabic, and North Arabian.
4. Series of Dust update, and expension
Series of Dusk will get a new expansion called Ephemeral Coda. Once this expension is enabled, a new choice and cost mechanic will be introduced when selecting route. Different routes will offer diffrent busss and artifacts. But selecting an artifact will require paying a cost, which in turn will strenghten enemies.
Additionally even withouth enabling the expansion, a new Goldsmith Prohecy system will be introduced, allowing players to earn actra keepsakes each week, up to a storage limit.
This update will also add a new ending, which lucly can be triggered withouth needing to enable the expansion.
If anyone wants's to read the Dev Broadcast here is the link:

She's only had like five minutes of actual screentime but I already, desperately, need Bluepoch to make her playable
(Also, the new roguelike mode is so good, what the hell. I can't believe it improved so much. I was so done with the old mode after the first run, but I've already done 10+ runs in this new mode and I'm itching to do more)

If BP expands the series of dusk more then I think I have some rough idea.
I remember seeing a comment on ytube comparing the mode to intergrated strategies from arknights so imagine if the mode decides to make another story for another character other than Semmelweis, character can be anyone like NPC or character that haven’t appear in the main story but still consider important.
I haven’t touch IS yet but ik there are different timeline and what if story like the recent one being is5 Amiya. I think it would be fun if it also happened in r1999, a what if story if the breakaway incident never happened or if Sophia never met Arcana and maybe if Vertin join Manus are all great concepts to write.
Anw let me know what you think :)

The fact that Isokania being in the presence of each other decreases the Stress for both of them and the team:
I find it interesting that Isolde having Meltdown brings almost the same (or arguably more) benefit as her being in Focus (which is kinda concerning?). Also she practically decreases Stress for everyone including herself only if she's with Kakania (we get it Isolde, we won't separate you from your doctor).
On the other hand, Kakania entirely resets her Empathy when she has a Meltdown, which kinda sucks at first, but it also enables her to take more damages for the team (what's with these two and giving benefits when they're having Meltdowns). She also decreases her own Stress when her allies are having Meltdown, and she does it even more if she's with Isolde (still playing psychiatrist even in battle aren't you, Kakania?).
Basically you can bring them both in your team, and they'll always keep their and the team's Stress in check. Doomed yuri saves the day.
What's funnier is it's very rare for characters to have specified Stress condition related to being in another characters' company, so Bluepoch basically handcrafted these kind of conditions for Isokania. They really are Bluepoch's favorite doomed yuri.
#I kinda wish they're doing this with other characters too but seems like these kind of things are special for isokania#I think it'll be funny to have special stress conditions with characters who have beef with anothers (medpoc vs lucy semmel vs kakania etc)#reverse 1999#isolde#kakania#isokania#a series of dusks#r1999💫#r1999📖#now presenting vingler's mirror

I like to think that the House of Records implies that Semmelweis and Lorelei just became roommates after the Melody ending. With Semmelweis doing most of their actual work while Lorelei is just, there, sitting on the sofa all day.. and Semmel just lets her??

Semmelweis next to Kakania and Isolde: two deeply flawed characters in their own right who's overlapping flaws are covered up by the other's narrative in some way. Then there's Sophia, a character who was purposefully led to make a decision based on a false narrative created by Arcana. Valentina is a character living through their life in transience and acting entirely of their own volition, and to her credit, while she knows she's unethical by mortal standards, she's still one of the more amicable Manus members.
Then there's Semmelweis, who like Valentina, lays out her flaws right in front of the audience. "I am not special". Despite being unique on the fact of being alive, Semmelweis claims to be lacking. She's much less full of energy as many other arcanists, or even some human staff members. Semmelweis is both a character in both groups, and neither community. But it's still something she lays out to the audience from the beginning.
