DOJO

Sawa is in a state of meditation upon the floor.

Heather enters the dojo room. She is still clothed in lingerie night wear unsuitable for the dojo and definitely most unsuitable for church.

Sawa ( Eyes closed): Have you calmed yourself?

Heather( Stands dignified and with an noble annoyance): I made an effort for you, you know? You think I dress like this every day?( Gently kicks her foot towards Sawa)

Sawa grabs Heather's foot with a hand.

Sawa opens her eyes, gently places Heather's foot upon the floor.

Heather: So, what's the big deal huh? 

Sawa: What do you mean?

Heather: Is it because you find me hideous? Is that it? Come on, tell me! Be honest!

Sawa: You are being silly-

Heather : WOOO! ( Playfully grabs at Sawa's arms)

Sawa( Puzzled and moving Heather's hands around like a tai chi dance) : What-

Heather: Wooo my kung fu is stronger than yours!

Sawa(Annoyed): This is not amusing!

Heather: Oh the nun does have emotions? Oh wow!

Sawa grapples Heather and holds her down in a hold

Sawa ( Sits at Heather's belly with hands upon Heather's wrists): That... Was a cruel... Very cruel...

Heather( Worried): Sawa?

Sawa (Leans down and her face is close to Heather's): I am the last orange left in the basket that desires the the mango in the tree.

Heather: A poem? 

Sawa: If you wish to...

Sawa stands and walks to the door.

Heather ( Sits up puzzled): Honey?

Sawa( Shyly): Bedroom... You and I ( Blushes beet red) You... want to... yes with me?

Heather( Realizing)Yeah!( Rushes over to Sawa and holds her hand and they walk hand in hand to the bedroom.

Message to Laodicea

14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the [k]Origin of the creation of God, says this:

15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have no need of anything,” and you do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to apply to your eyes so that you may see. 19 Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. 21 The one who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat with My Father on His throne. 22 The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

Today’s Sermonette

The Christian faith is rooted in memories. Memories are important. Whether positive or negative, they teach both wisdom for the present and insight for the future.

Jesus gave a feast, The Lord’s Supper, which calls believers to remember the greatest event in history-the broken body and poured out blood of Jesus Christ!

But what exactly is the character of remembering? Consider the following:

First is the remembrance of facts-Jesus was betrayed, mocked, and finally hung on a cross. We remember them as historical facts.

Second, the facts call us to a remembrance of the message: we remember hurt and Jesus’ healing; we remember despair and the Spirit’s comfort; we remember sin and God’s response to it in Christ-he will remember our sin no more (Jeremiah 31:34).

Finally, remembering God’s message of kindness is a call to accept his forgiveness.

To all who repent and believe, Jesus promises, “I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my father and his angels” (Revelation3:1-6).

In the Lord’s Supper, Jesus calls us to a lifelong remembrance of his death. May you have courage to accept his call, for in remembering the gospel, you will find wisdom for today and insight for the future.

Today’s Supplication

Father, we remember your kindness shown in the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. Teach us wisdom for today and grant us insight for tomorrow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
