Third times' the charm (hopefully). Tumblr kept eating this post. I think it was the picture and I've got another one now.

Old clothes no longer fit you/suit you? Congrats, you unlocked free fabric you've got already laying around the house! The jacket used to be multiple (band-)shirts that I played around with to give them new life in this patchwork jacket. It's lined with fleece fabric for warmth.

The skirt I bought with my former best friend when I was 15-16 years old (for reference: I'm 33 this year). When it became too small for me I passed it along to a friend (swapping/gifting clothes is great!) who gave it back to me after some years when the zipper broke, so I could use the fabric for something. The skirt spent some more years at the back of my storage closet until I needed a simple yet elegant black skirt for a funeral now. I remembered my formerly floor length velvet skirt and brought it out. It was an easy fix to make it fit me again - I chopped off the top part & made an elastic waistband casing from the chopped off fabric. Yes I had to sacrifice some length in order to do this but I was quite please to give this old skirt new life and that I didn't need to buy anything new in a rush for this funeral.

Started a pair of patch pants since I needed to patch up some holes in my favorite pants.

I’m using fabric from clothes that were too damaged to donate, fabric scraps I already had, sharpies, and some really bad novice embroidery skills to make homemade patches- my friend actually made two of the three that I currently have sewn onto the pants.

This is one my friend made with fabric from a pair of ruined bike shorts, and sharpies! (She embroidered some sprinkles onto the icing as well.)

I can’t wait to cover these pants in patches.
