Hoffman Gouverneur 1951. Some say the Gouverneur is a BMW knockoff, with it's apposed flat twin and shaft drive, but in the artist's humble opinion, the art deco lines of this bike are so good looking, that I don't care how much it may be like a 50s era beemer. #retromotosproject #beemer #knockoff #retromotorcycle #artdeco #arthistory #vintagemotorcycle #vintage #classicmotorcycle #classic #fiftiesstyle #fifties #watercolor #oldschool #oldbike #artist #artofinstagram #mechanicaldrawing #maukillustration #josephmauk #fountainpen #inkdrawing #ilovewhatido (at San Francisco, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3FQpYVhlcZ/?igshid=1dltbh6gblw7y

Harley-Davidson XR-750 from 1972. The coolest Harley, in my opinion. This bike has been the king of the dirt track for decades, but only after some serious revisions and additions like those gigantic mikuni carburetors hanging off the side of the bike. When it was introduced in 1969, it was decidedly not the champion it later became. #retromotosproject (at Modesto, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B21jRtch0-B/?igshid=sknvjb1s6c01

Harley-Davidson XRTT CR Track Racer 1972. The road version of the famous XR750. They added a massive front brake, fairings, fuel capacity and subtracted the air filters. Raced by Cal Rayborn. #retromotosproject (at Modesto, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B24LjAXheJK/?igshid=16z3m19lgpqpc

Hercules Wankel 2000, 1974. This was the first rotary engine on a production motorcycle. At the time it was considered ugly, but I think it looks kind of cool. Nevertheless, style, price and some mechanical issues meant that the Hercules never enjoyed much success, with less than 2,000 units ever being made. #retromotosproject https://www.instagram.com/p/B26kAljhvtE/?igshid=1sgyw0njzralj
