This blog’s main tags, listed for your browsing convenience
#My writing - fiction I’ve written, including drabbles and WIP chapters
#My non writing posts - Original posts of mine that don’t fall under the “my writing” tag
#My posts - Aggregate of my writing + my non-writing posts; all my original posts
#other people’s writing - self-explanatory
#whump - self-explanatory
#whump thoughts - whump ideas, prompts, concepts, tropes, etc. that aren’t written out in scene form
#whump memes - self-explanatory
#funny - self-explanatory
#lol - second tag for funny stuff. I don’t have a set distinction between the two, which one I use is mainly based on whim and there’s some overlap. If I had to explain maybe I’d say the lol tag is a bit more casual??
#memes - self-explanatory
#encouragement - Posts that share encouragement, obviously, but sometimes also adjacent stuff like positivity, validation, etc.
#writing - posts about writing/being a writer/etc.
#writing meme - self-explanatory
#animals - self-explanatory
#marine biology - My tag for aquatic biology. Includes both marine biology and freshwater biology, which I know is not actually marine biology but I didn’t want to redo the tag. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#quiz/generator results - for those posts that link a uquiz or random generator game or some such and I paste my result in a reblog
#lgbtq+ - self-explanatory
#advice/resources - self-explanatory
#housekeeping - things I’d like my blog viewers to know, information regarding me and my blog, useful information in general, organizational posts, etc.
#blog housekeeping - subtag of housekeeping mainly for keeping my blog organized and holding blog info
#art - self-explanatory. So far it’s all other people’s art because I haven’t posted any of my own here.
#biology - self-explanatory
#science - self-explanatory
#cute - self-explanatory
#political - self-explanatory. I don’t get into politics a lot, this is mainly so you can filter it out if you want.
#serious stuff - also mainly for filtering-out purposes. Mostly downer posts you might not want to see in your tumblr fun times.
#my tag for things I haven't really tagged yet - All kinds of posts that I didn’t have the energy to tag properly when I reblogged them. Originally I wanted to put this on every otherwise untagged post so I could stay ✨organized✨ and find things, but by now I've accepted that it's not really feasible to tag every single thing I reblog without stunting the amount of posts I find myself willing to reblog.
#my tag for things without a tag - same as my tag for things I haven't really tagged yet, but older. I’ve essentially replaced it with my tag for things I haven't really tagged yet, but didn’t go back and retag all the posts it was on.
I use other tags of course, but this should cover the most major ones.

So! I realized that with Tomoko and Yaoling (and possibly Yukimi, and possibly the currently unknown thief who we just found out to have a sticker of his non-thief appearance, and possibly others) having what seems to be both a real-world, non-thief iteration and a Phantom Idol counterpart, there's suddenly a bit of an issue with my tagging system- namely, should I be tagging non-thief characters by codename if they have a Phantom Idol version with a codename??
The issues I see with this are:
The Phantom Idol and non-thief versions of them are technically different characters, so they should get tagged differently
But they're also just different versions of the same character, so it makes sense to sort them under the same tag
I could just always use both codename and real name, but then I have to tag posts twice, which is a little tedious (especially if several of these characters are in one post)
Always tagging them twice sort of defeats the purpose of using two different tags?
I'm still going to be tagging actual story teammates with codenames as we learn them, regardless of whether they're in the metaverse in that post. Is it weird to have the posts tagged "closer" and "tomoko noge" include Motoha and Tomoko, Closer and Phantom Idol!Tomoko, and theoretically even Motoha and Phantom Idol!Tomoko and Closer and Tomoko??
But I also tag the original Phantom Thieves by their real names, with the exception of Joker. Is it weird to tag a post as "ann takamaki", "closer", and "tomoko noge" if it's Panther, Closer, and Phantom Idol!Tomoko? What about if it's Ann, Motoha, and Tomoko?
What about Phantom Idols that we haven't seen any indication of meeting outside the Metaverse yet? Does it make sense to tag Leo or Mont by their real name if we only ever see them as Phantom Idols?
So I'm opening a poll to see what you guys think. I'm kind of inclined to just keep tagging any new characters that're playable in any iteration, whether story or Phantom Idol, as their codenames, since that's what I established as the start, and it saves me from retagging if their real names were mistranslated... but I'm also not sure if I'm just being stubborn, haha.
Also, to clarify, this is for reblogged posts, more than original posts! Original posts will probably be tagged with both names either way, so that they're a little easier to find if someone goes in the larger Tumblr tag for that character. I'm asking this for organizational purposes on this blog!
Only running this poll for a day since the other option's a week and that would... run into the P5X second beta, haha...
#I AM probably just overthinking this#and I think either way it makes the most sense to have one tag for all iterations of a character even if they're different versions?#but I want to see what you guys think; if something else wins by a significant margin I'll consider it#polls

Note
hey just wanna give a tumblr tip tm: you do NOT have to tag characters again on a reblog addition, these tags are just for organizational purposes for your blog and reblogs are not seen in the tag. so don’t worry, you don’t have to retag them all :]
Thank you sm!! As you can probably tell from my current interests, I'm getting into the stuff that I've "missed" the heyday of, so it's nice to learn what ya can :D
