Considering you read the book about The Shankill Butchers, are you also thinking of watching Resurrection Man (1998)?

I have watched it!!!! and read the book that the film is based on. Loveeeed the book but I didn't like the film so much because they took a lot of the nuance of the real events out of it and kind of just made it into "uniquely evil guy kills people for kicks" rather than the horrific string of bigotry related murders perpetrated by a large group of people that they were in real life. The book was better in that department, though it still wasn't perfect. Also in the film they removed a lot of the funnier and more bizarre parts of the book to make it for the most part a drama rather than the dark comedy the book employs AND they simplified the story massively which was... certainly a choice. Oh and also the narration was a really key part of the book that simply didn't translate well to the film. Overall review is that the book Resurrection Man is good but the film is like. just ok

DC Comics Black Label Presents "Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma"

DC Comics has announced a new DC Black Label comic for mature readers 17+, featuring the return of Resurrection Man. The 6-issue, Prestige format series Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma hails from writer Ram V and artist Anand RK. Mitch Shelley, aka Resurrction Man, was created by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Jackson "Butch" Guice. Guice will also contribute artwork for a one-page synopses, written by Ram V, in each issue that will recap the character's history.

Mitch Shelley "is a man who has led thousands of lives, and with each death, he is resurrected with a new superpower based on his previous cause of death. After living and dying his latest life, Shelley awakes with a new purpose to go along with his latest power: saving the universe. This version of Resurrection Man must battle across time and space against a sadistic Word War II internment camp captain who has inherited a twisted version of Shelley’s abilities. As the lines of cosmic order begin to blur, Mitch Shelley will literally die to save the universe, more than once." (DC Comics)

Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma #1 (of 6) goes on sale on April 2, 2025. The debut issue sports a main cover by Jeff Dékal and variant covers by Dan Panosian, Anand RK, and Resurrection Man co-creator Jackson Guice.
