I loved the Zeus - Posedion conversation so much because it is the most sibling tm scene in the show so far (after Posedion intervened and stopped his brother from literally murdering his son). They're literally at war one second, there's some levity a second later when they decide they're on the same side and then the youngest brother has to rub in the fact that he won and that he's going to tell everyone else in the family ASAP much to the older brother's absolute annoyance as he rolls his eyes. Not to mention "Who knows about father?" "... Hermes " "So... everyone knows?" Hermes canonically being the biggest blabber in Olympus lmao.

The CHILLS that ran down my spine the moment the camera landed on Zeus on Olympus. The intimidating image of Zeus in the center of the empty throne room just lounging was intimidating. I was never really scared of Zeus in the books, but Lance Reddick’s performance in the show was something else.

Ra's is being voiced by Lance Reddick. Despite not being impressed by the show itself overall, I'm now super disappointed not to have two seasons with this Ra's.

Might have to rewatch Fringe next just to hear more of Lance's voice. He has a lovely voice.

Lance Reddick's one scene as Zeus makes me feel really sad that we'll never see more of him. His mere prescience in the scene commanded authority and I couldn't help but feel intimidated by him, and it makes Percy feel brave for still trying to warn him of Kronos despite that.

Whoever is cast to replace him has big shoes to fill just from that one scene.

lance reddick is missed by so many, but i can’t help but think of how special he truly was to the destiny community. so many of us have heard his voice nearly every day for the last decade. i think of how everyone came together that day and in the days after. every single tower i entered that day was full, and everyone was paying tribute to their commander.

i think of how he was stuck on the last mission of lightfall, and how someone looked up his last equipped loadout and recreated it exactly on their own character to finish the mission for him. it really was a collective process of grieving the fact the someone who had been with us from day one wouldn’t be there to see the story to its end. that being said, i think the decision to cast keith david was absolutely the best thing that could be done in a truly heartbreaking and difficult situation. i think he will do a fantastic job and i’m glad that bungie is keeping all of lance’s original lines in-game. it still gets me sometimes when i queue into strikes and hear his voice.

the destiny community loved lance, and lance loved the destiny community. per audacia ad astra, rest in peace commander.

okay so… I’m crying!

like. my tv is pauses right now because I’m crying and digesting that entire scene between zeus, poseidon, and percy because that was KILLER. like genuinely in terms of acting and writing that was such an astounding four minutes of television.

first off, rest in peace to lance reddick and a round of applause for his CHILLING performance. he plays zeus with such a perfect level of intentionality that even to see zeus be thrown off for a second is just barely noticeable. the temper, the control he exhibits in jumping between very different levels of emotion, it’s so insane. truly insane walker was keeping on par with an actor like that. and of course, then, with tont stephens himself. and poseidon’s entrance? LET’S TALK ABOUT IT.

to see poseidon, a proud species of god, jump in and immediately surrender to zeus ALL FOR PERCY is just… picture that. picture the father you’ve never met, who you’ve been wondering about your entire life. picture fearing he’s the worst man you’ve ever met, picture resenting him for adhering to a system you can see clearly as loveless and problematic but still having this weird complicated love for him because you just want to know where you come from. and the first thing you ever hear him say is, softly and to protect you, “I surrender.”

to put away pride like that, to let love win… the gods fail at that consistently, but he doesn’t in that moment. and so many details of this scene are absolutely perfect and that isn’t even an exaggeration. poseidon mentioning how percy’s inherited his rebellious streak from him because the sea doesn’t like to be contained. sally having taught percy ancient greek, and poseidon being not at all surprised— and, in that, the subtle recognition that sally did raise him and teach him everything. and then: the first question you ever get to ask your father? “do you dream about mom.” ARE YOU JOKING??? and poseidon need only smile, because the answer is obviously yes even though we don’t hear him say it.

I’m floored. honestly.

epsiode eight is turning out even better than i imagined, even better than i hoped for and again, i am only halfway through!!!

annabeth’s arachnophobia was mentioned and that too, in a great analogy of how gods perceive demigods!!

luke and percy’s flashback training with some real great sword fighting choreo and engaging direction & dialogue!!

percy coming out of the water COMPLETELY DRY!!!

zeus actually seeming god-like and genuinely threatening!! (rest in peace, lance reddick)

percy unapologetically and bravely calling out zeus and his ways, staunchly standing for what he believes in.

like every small detail we were worried about in the last seven episodes are being cleared up and look HOW. this is just so fun, so heartwarming and heartwrenching, a true rollercoaster.

A lot of immediate thoughts about Legend of Vox Machina EPs 7-9. Spoiler galore. Get outta here if you haven't watched yet.

Did not like the song choice at the end of Ep 7. This is probably hit or miss personal preference, but felt very tonally disconnected with what was happening in the scene.

THE MOTHERFUCKING CERBERUS ASSEMPLY HOLY SHIT

I'm shocked that they didn't resurrect Percy before fighting Thordak. Genuinely shocked. I have no strong feelings about it from a narrative standpoint, but that's a massive change and just...a lot to chew on.

I didn't like that they changed the tone of Grog's "Fix him" line. That line is iconic, and I'd bet most people have that in their Top 3 most emotional moments from C1, and Grog's forceful tone is the entire reason for that. Changing it just...didn't land for me.

And also Scanlan isn't even dead? Just...in a coma? I don't know how I feel about that change -- it'll probably be dependent on how the last three episodes go.

Vex's coversation with her father was heartbreaking and beautiful and holy fuck Laura Bailey, goddamn it.

Ripley still being alive after Thordak is dead is a very interesting change that I currently have no strong feelings about, but will probably have more feelings about when the season has concluded.

I have two thoughts about Pike Trickfoot. Thought number one is that I don't love this whole "actually her power is intrinsic and not from the everlight" thing, but maybe I'm just misreading where that'll go. Though number two is that every single scene with Pike is either beautiful, hilarious, or the most fucking badass thing I've ever seen in my life. Seriously, she got the Divine Nuke in S1 and now she gets the Dawnmartyr Plate power up scene? Girl, save some badassery for the rest of the team!

I assume the last three episodes will be one devoted to killing Ripley, one devoted to killing Raishan, and one dedicated to resurrections and fallout. However, I have no idea what order that will happen in. On one hand, it's very hard for me to imagine them fighting Raishan without Percy or Scanlan. On the other hand, this batch of episodes changed enough narratively that I no longer have any idea what is and isn't off the table.

I still believe this season will end with Bard's Lament, but given that Scanlan hasn't made his promise to Kaylie yet, I'm...ever so slightly worried about how it's gonna be handled and if they're gonna stick the landing. I have faith, I'm just slightly nervous. There's a lotta shit left to tie up in three episodes.

Killing Kashaw sucks, but I don't hate it. Especially if it gives us a reason for more Zahra in Season 4.

Rest in peace, Lance Reddick. You were fucking amazing as Thordak, and I'm devastated you're not around to receive your deserved praise.
