Emily 💚

And not just because she saved his life, although that is a pretty important detail all things considered.

She was around Jeff from the beginning, becoming one part of the original trio that bravely explored the unfamiliar version of his home. Not only did she heal his physical wounds, but she also helped to heal the hurt that Jeff carried in his heart, too.

@jonnyonearth and I talked about their relationship recently. In his words, Jeff is her Jeff in conversation. She adores him on a level that Jeff may not even be aware of.

When Emily decided to move her clinic from down the road where the Wayward now stands to the Crater, it did cause a bit of a rift in their circle. Emily is a Raider now. Jeff was hurt by this initially and while it took some time to trust her choice, he did in part because…that's his Emily. 💚

…And let's not forget the wedding bands that they both carry.

🍑 [PEACH] How do they show their kindness? How kind are they truly?

Jeff is extremely kind 💙

I've mentioned in a previous ask how he shows his love/appreciation through acts of kindness/service. He's almost always willing to help regardless of how he's being treated.

I feel like this tends to frustrate those close to him, who have told Jeff numerous times that he needs to stand up for himself more. It's not uncommon for him to be taken advantage of.

Of course, even Jeff has a breaking point. While he is quick to lend a helping hand to anyone, he won't stand for bullying/mistreatment of anyone, let alone his loved ones.

I've had a scenario in my head where Jeff is a bit out of character, but only because someone dear to him is in serious trouble. A routine trip through Big Bend Tunnel becomes even more dangerous and Jeff is left with blood on his hands.

(I'm not sure if I will ever share that here as a story, but I'm okay with talking about it 💜)

Seriously, though–

📦 Caravan Guard: After initially taking on part-time work with the Blue Ridge Caravan Company years ago, Jeff decided to uproot his life in the Forest and take a one-way trip down to the Bog where he still resides today. I don't want to say that being a caravan guard is his entire identity, but he has a lot of pride in what he and his friends/co-workers do.

📦 Cryptid Whisperer (not hunter): Jeff grew up hearing the stories of these friend-shaped beings, and it means everything to him that they believe in him too. Having someone in his life like Aries definitely inspires Jeff to continue his search. Just imagine the stories they share with each other 💙

🍏 [GREEN APPLE] How do they differ from the norm and how are they punished for it?

When Ralph arrived at Stone Observatory two years ago, Jeff's entire world changed.

The seemingly kind stranger admired the camp that Jeff and his companion at time, Sophia, had put together. The group chatted together over coffee and Ralph shared his story. Jeff understood what it was like to be someone who traveled a long way from home, without any home to return to.

So, Jeff offered the shed on his property as a place to stay, which was a storage space/workshop at the time. Ralph gratefully accepted. What Jeff didn't realize is that Ralph was very far from home; also, what did that strange door lead to and where did it come from?

The whole underground lab and the shape-shifting neighbor, Ralph, is something that I would still consider being a bit outside of the norm, even with how strange the Fallout universe can be at times.

Jeff is often punished for this through the various experiments conducted on him (not all are consenting), the trials/challenges that he faces when Ralph sends him to another time/universe, and how he isn't allowed to say a word about any of this.

Of course, some details have slipped out here and there, but I imagine that all of the above is hard to believe for most of his new friends and allies.

Krieg knows about all of this far more than most, but I'll let Jon tell that story whenever he's ready ❤️

Other than Krieg, Emily and Aries are waiting for Jeff to finally open up about everything. Aries especially has seen some things and I have a feeling he's a bit suspicious/paranoid about Ralph.

And I have yet to really think about this, but Jeff is about to meet his new friend MacCready in the Commonwealth who also happens to be Mayor MacCready in the Capital Wasteland...💫

🌋 VOLCANO - how bad is their temper? is it a slow boil, or a instant explosion?

Bad, really bad, not matter how much one may wish she would be patient and calm just like her name says. Overusing Dervish Mist doesn't help the situation.

🎭 MASKS - do they act differently around certain people? what's different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

She's afraid of high rank Board people and tends to tone down her personality a lot when talking with them, appearing (somewhat) calm. Though she's also flirty w/ a few of them. It's a way she shows respect (and gets bonuses).

If she's among her freelancer friends, she's loud, funny and loves talking, or telling stories about her current contracts (unless she's unpleased w/ how it's going. in that case, she tends to change the subject when the conversation turns to work).

In the case of strangers, she's usually cocky and gets annoyed easily if something doesn't go her way. She also likes monologueing in front of her targets about how easily she found them etc.

📦 PACKAGE - what are some "most likely to..." that can apply to them?

Most likely to pay for the drinks at the bar

Most likely to trip bc of untied shoelaces

Most likely to be chased by canids

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticable? what changes when they're in love?

Very noticable, she just can't stay in one place and talks about it to her close friend a lot instead of actually doing something abt it.

If she's in love, she'll be more quiet about it and tends to spend more time w/ the person she's in love with. In this case she usually tells about her feelings very soon.

Scorched Earth, Trin-style

For once, Trin did this quest mostly by the canon playbook. She did outsource the code decryption to her Cipher fam (did they know what said codes would be used for? Proooobably not. She'll worry about that mess at a later date dghgfd), but she was pretty much contractually obligated to do that lol.

Anyways, with the decrypted code and her nuclear keycard in hand, she sent out a broadcast inviting any willing 76ers to help her out, and headed to the silo.

The assembled crew! @responderschief, @the-lastcall, @the-laridian and @mouseclarke (thank you all so much, I emphatically could *not* have done it without you guys!)

(Kay and Beckett were also around. They ended up waiting outside the silo thanks to not having access, but they did subsequently help out in the Bog)

The group went to Site Bravo... only to find it was in cooldown mode. One quick detour to Site Alpha later, the real fun was underway. After plenty of robot attacks, and a few unintentional detours in the maze-like silo (mostly by me), it was time.

...Time to input the wrong freaking code and lose my nuclear keycard. Cheers, Trin. Nice work there. Very very fortunately, Mouse had spare keycards to hand lol.

Launch code attempt two, and this time we had success!

Off to the Cranberry Bog we go...

🧑‍🦰 - Have they ever dyed their hair? Ever cut it themself?

Jeff is going through a bit of a metamorphosis at the moment, so this question came at the perfect time 💙

He is a natural brunette, but his hair changed to a blue-green a few years ago. It's not set in stone yet if he actually maintains this look through bleach and hair dye or if the hue he has now is due to a mutation. (Jeff, probably: Guess I had one Quantum too many~)

Jeff absolutely cuts his hair, though. It's still on the long side, but not too long to where it becomes unmanageable or gets caught on something during combat. Both humidity and freshly washed hair cause it to take on more of a fluffy look, which Jeff sheepishly keeps hidden under his hat. 

The beard that he used to have may be another story for another time. But, I can share that when Jeff first showed up to work clean-shaven for the first time, one of his close friends (Nuked.Corn) didn't recognize him at all. 

Currently, the slight facial hair that he's sporting is referred to by other wastelanders as the "Daddy-O."

🐒 - What’s their favorite animal?

Oh, Jeff loves finding cats out on his adventures. So cute! If he wasn't away for so long with the Blue Ridge Caravan, he would absolutely have a cat or three. Until then, he'll make sure to give all of the cats a cuddle (if they let him) and offer whatever he's carrying food-wise that would be safe for them. 💙

Of course, Jeff is also partial to flamingos. He would love to meet more of Brian's family along his travels 🦩

🤔 - What’s something they’ll never understand?

Jeff will never understand the Pip-Boy 2000 Mark VI and why on earth he is stuck wearing the hunk of scrap on his wrist. 

"Emily. You're telling me that this thing here is keeping me alive?" 

Emily doesn't miss the glare and little pout that Jeff gives to the machine on his left wrist. It's almost cute. As always, she entertains him. "Unfortunately, there's only one way to find out, handsome."

Jeff considers her words for a moment, then goes to open his mouth to speak and–

"Jeff, NO."

Do I really need it, though? Jeff asks himself. When Emily saved me, did her dormant inner-Raider choose to bestow this curse upon me? What if I trip and the only way I can avoid, say, a massive rock, is if I use this thing to break my fall? What if I ask Aries to look at it, using his big brain and/or knife? Oh! Maybe a brahmin at work could accidentally trample over it, or a Sheepsquatch could use it as a chew toy!? Adorable! 

Satisfied with his options, Jeff grinned at Emily. 

[Emily disliked that] 

Jeff eyed the mocking green text in front of him and sighed. 

Because it could very well be the one thing keeping Jeff alive these days and no one is willing to remove it for him, not even Brian, he will keep wondering. 

💝 - What gestures do they really appreciate? How do you get on their good side?

Jeff is someone who shows his love and appreciation through acts of kindness/service, so if he receives even a fraction of what he gives, he's happy. 

Words of thanks, encouragement, and being wanted/needed also mean a lot to him 💙

"Glad you're on our side."

"Finally, someone with the guts to help." (This one is...acceptable, yes.)

Tobias works as a lead chemist in a project that's researching possible cures for hibernation sickness. Though, he also slowly starts to understand that the future of this project isn't really that bright :'^)

Klara is a specialist in UDL's intercorporate relations, which means that her work time is basically 80% meetings or smth. She's extremely busy and has too many extra hours :( But at least udl pays for their specialists' food or smth.

second row:

Sarah (she/her): Klara's supervisor in her UDL team, tired(tm). Owns too many lipsticks bc she always loses them, buys new one, then finds the old one later. Is actually a very funny person. Makes good cocktails.

Samuel (he/him): Tobias's boss in his last project hehe. He is not a nice guy, to put it lightly, but everyone loves him for some reason. Will tell u funny stories about his life. Only wears designer clothes. He comes to my mind whenever i listen to Dark, Twisted and Cruel for some reason. Likes to either wear a full suit or a half open shirt.

Third row:

Jay (he/him): Klara's coworker from her team, he loves paperwork and is an avid user of office gym (he goes to pilates classes three times a week). Always has cookies with him and will offer you one. His eyes aren't amber, they're the color of sunlight during golden hour (done through some fancy surgery). Has two jack russells and a husband.

Aleena (she/they): biomedicime specialist from Samuel's project, leads a team that works closely w/ Toby's. Toby & Aleena know each other since their teenage years and actually had founded a skincare start-up (which was bought later by Kolway). They are coffee break and kanban board breakdown buddies. Fun fact is that her hair is always blue - they made some kind of thing during one of lab projects that could change person's hair color permanently*. Really likes blueberry milkshakes.

*toby also has used said thing, though different color. it's mostly visible in his grey hairs KFKGKFFJJ
