My Active Mass Effect Mods

The purpose of this post is to create a comprehensive list of all Mass Effect mods that I'm actively using, so that when I make a post that features content from mods, I can easily credit them by linking to this post, rather than trying to list each relevant mod individually. A brief description of each mod is included for clarity's sake, and each mod is linked to its nexusmod page.

You may also consider this modlist as a recommendation list.

I install all my mods using ME3Tweaks Mod Manager.

MASS EFFECT MODS

Advanced Weapon Models for LE1: Replaces the weapon models in LE1 with their counterparts from LE2 and LE3

Casual Hubs for LE1: Allows Shepard and squadmates to wear casual outfits on the Citadel and Noveria instead of armor. Galaxy Map Trackers (LE1): Tracks active and undiscovered UNC side quests on the galaxy map. Halcyon Hairpack (LE1): Adds new hairstyles for NPCs based on hairstyles from The Outer Worlds. Keepers Finders (LE1): Marks unscanned Keepers from the quest Scan the Keepers on Citadel maps. LE1 Community Patch: Fixes bugs. LE1 Diversification Project: Reblances NPC populations & diversifies outfits/apperances.

No Skill Check Required for Loot (LE1): Allows you to open loot boxes automatically, without needing to pass a Decryption or Electronics skill check.

Normandy Rapid Transit: Adds the Normandy as a Rapid Transit destination on the Citadel. Pinnacle Station DLC: Adds the Pinnacle Station DLC back into Legendary Edition. Same-Gender Romances for LE1: Allows Ashley and Kaiden to be romanced by both male and female Shepard. Saren Stages LE: Adds new appearances for Saren so that he gradually transforms to have more and more geth implants, rather than starting out that way. Skip Minigames (LE1): Removes mini games or allows them to be skipped without an omnigel cost. Unlimited Sprint: Allows Shepard to run forever.

Virmire Savior Mod: Allows both Ashley and Kaiden to survive Virmire. MASS EFFECT 2 MODS Casual Hubs for LE2: Allows Shepard and squadmates to wear casual clothes on the Citadel, Omega, and Illium, and gives certain squadmates casual appearances on the Normandy. Early Recruitment: Allows recruitment of late-game squadmates such as Tali, Legion, Thane, and Samara earlier in the game. Expanded Shepard Armory (ESA) LE2: Unlocks helmet-less versions of the official DLC armors, as well as adds additional armors and casual outfits. Genesis Intro Dialogue Undo Mod - Legendary Edition: Restores the original Mass Effect 2 opening dialogue from before BioWare created the Genesis 2 DLC, while retaining all features of the Genesis Recap comic. More Gay Romances for LE2: Allows female Shepard to romance Miranda and Jack. No Headgear for Squadmates: Removes (or alters) the headgear on squadmates' Alternate Appearance Pack armors. Oriana looks like Miranda's Twin (ME2LE): Makes Oriana look like Miranda. Overlord Morality Fix: Grants morality points for choosing the fate of David Archer in the Overlord DLC. Same-Gender Romances for LE2: Allows Tali and Thane to be romanced by both male and female Shepard and allows imports of FemShep/Ashley and MaleShep/Kaidan romances. Skip Mini Games: Skips hacking and bypass mini games. Unlimited Sprint: Allows Shepard to run forever. Unofficial LE2 Patch: Fixes bugs. Virmire Savior Mod: Maintains continuity from the LE1 mod where you can save both Ashley and Kaidan. MASS EFFECT 3 MODS Anderson's Final Conversation Restored: Restores cut content during Anderson's final scene.

Dreams Remade: Changes Gameplay and cutscenes of the dream sequences of ME3 to give more representation of player choices and reduce the presence of the child.

Expanded Galaxy Mod (LE): Adds quality of life improvements, customizations to the Normandy, new visitors, makes the galactic war more immersive, and adds bonus squadmates from ME1 & 2 that can be taken on certain missions. Expanded Universe - Mod Menu: Allows a user to set what books, comics, games and films they have read/played in a mod menu to allow other mods to check what you've seen and tailor content specifically for those who have seen certain parts of the expanded universe. Kasumi Dress to Citadel: Allows Shepard to wear the dress from Kasumi's loyalty mission in ME2 in the Citadel DLC. LE3 Community Patch & Framework: Fixes bugs. LE3 Diversification Project: Reblances NPC populations & diversifies outfits/apperances. Miranda Mod (LE3): Allows Miranda to be recruited as a squadmate after Priority: Horizon. More Gay Romances for LE3: Allows femShep to carryover a romance with Miranda or Jack from Mass Effect 2. No Reapers and Max Scan Range: Disallows reapers from chasing you on the galay map and increases scan range to the entire system at once.

Oriana looks like Miranda's Twin (ME3LE): Makes Oriana look like Miranda.

Spectre Expansion Mod: Improves the Shadow Broker and Spectre terminals, gives the player new difficult choices to consider via Spectre authorisations, improves the presence of background races in ME3, and expands the galaxy map to provide clues to the battles happening beyond the scope of Shepard’s missions.

Take Earth Back: Overhauls the final mission of Mass Effect 3 with the aim of representing the allies you have gathered over the course of the trilogy, fixing bugs and adding ambient immersive events.

Unlimited Sprint: Lets Shepard run forever.

Virmire Savior Mod: Maintains continuity regarding Kaiden and Ashley both surviving Virmire and both can be recruited after Priority: The Citadel II.

Took me a while to process the ending of the Mass Effect trilogy,so now here are some of my thoughts sprinkled with a bit of spoilers ✨👽

I finished the Mass Effect trilogy last week, it left me feeling empty and broken but also happy that I got to experience such a beautiful game.

The characters (for the most part..) are so wonderfully written and their stories/character development are so captivating, it really makes you care and really adds so much more purpose to the game instead of random fetch quests for no damn purpose at all.

My favourite characters were definitely Liara (wife), tali, Edi and Joker. Also, i started out hating Ashley and Miranda and ended the game loving them? whats up with that? Definitely dont regret choosing Ashley, sorry not sorry kaiden (you bore me anyways)

I romanced Liara since game 1, it was love at first sight. FUCK I love her so much, shes smart and witty, kind but loves to egg on Musa, shes perfect.. the way they both lost everything important in their lives and then went on to find a home within each other. Even galaxies apart and its not enough to stop them. (and yes in ME3 they had matching pink outfits because they are THAT couple.)

Now the world building? All the different galaxies and worlds and climates and the resources you have to collect? Amazing. love it, 10/10.

So for the ending I did end up doing 2 of them, first one I did was the Synthesis ending, which i did do by mistake because the endings aren’t labeled and so I didn’t really know which one i was choosing.. I tried to justify it in my head, that shep might sacrifice herself for the greater good..Edi would still be alive.. But it just did not feel right, my shep would not believe in altering everyones dna, and also personally as me Steph the person playing the game, id love to think they (Musa and Liara) could have a life after the war, they could settle down on a beautiful planet in a humble home and have a bunch of little blue babies. (in my head canon, my engineer shep and her genius scientist wife liara figure out how to bring Edi back to life anyway)

ANYWAYS, so I finished the game with the Destroy ending. I will say, both endings ive seen are so gut wrenching and beautifully tragic, I literally could not stop thinking about it for days.

The first game was honestly a rough start because the ui and quest journal was so confusing, to the point where i almost quit, but i stuck to it, and im so glad I did.

10/10 game, definitely up there as one of my favourites, and the 3rd as my favourite out of them. Wish i could play the trilogy for the first time again :,)

Some character notes and episode notes for HZ045, writing them down for future reference.

Towards the beginning, we see the Explorers going back to Spinel who asked them to withdraw since they got to see Rayquaza's power for themselves. They all follow his lead. Spinel probably knew that Rayquaza was too overwhelming, so this plan might have simply been a way to gather data or see Rayquaza's reactions etc. Spinel likes observing and act on concrete information so he can plan better in the future, so. At least, he got confirmation that Rayquaza does react to the resonance generator, has an idea of his moveset, the way he reacts and potential weaknesses.

Liko and the others proceed to challenge Rayquaza. Really shows how far they came too, since Liko introduced herself and her goal of taking Terapagos to Rakua, Roy talked about how grateful he was to Rayquaza since he got to go an adventure thanks to him.. Rayquaza actually listened to them and agreed to battle them. I liked how formal the whole thing felt and the way they communicate with Rayquaza and how Rayquaza's feelings are taken into account too. He could just refuse to battle them at all if he didn't acknowledge them but the fact he accepted means that he is willing to test them. Rayquaza being Lucius's greatest partner really shines through.

Liko and the others start battling Rayquaza. I liked how nervous Liko felt at the beginning because she was reminiscing how she couldn't do anything last time so she wanted to make a difference this time, but was unsure on how to approach Rayquaza since he is in the sky and she is on the ground. It seems like having a Flying type will potentially be important to face Rayquaza again in the future. Amethio has an Armorga, who can fly. So, maybe something will be done with it in the future.

Anyway, the group split into two teams during the battle. Roy went with Friede on Lizardon, and Dot teamed up with Liko as Cap assisted them to help their Pokemon fly. At some point, Hogator and Lizardon launched a Flamethrower at the same time. I liked it, because in HZ002, I remember Hogator trying to mimic Lizardon when he was using this move but he couldn't use it back then. And now, Hogator can battle alongside his idol, which is really cute. Something else I found significant is when Dot came up with a plan to help Nyahoja jump even higher to reach Rayquaza, which was to have Nyahoja get on Kuwassu and then having Kuwassu fire a Water Gun towards the ground and give more momentum by using Low Kick. I'm pretty sure this is a reference to HZ017, when Roy asked Dot for advice when he trained Hogator and Kaiden and he eventually came up with the plan to have Hogator use Ember towards the ground to propel himself and Kaiden upwards, etc. I like that Dot was resourceful and quickly remembered this, and it really feels like all these moments from the first year are now paying off against Rayquaza. Dot and Liko work well together, so do Roy and Friede so I wonder if we'll see them battle together more in the future. Maybe with some changes every now and then? (maybe Liko and Friede teaming up, and Roy and Dot together etc, idk)

Rayquaza started taking everyone pretty seriously after all their attacks so he used Draco Meteor (that one move that hits pretty much everything around). It quickly overwhelmed everyone, and the move almost hit Terapagos so Liko and Nyahoja quickly went to Terapagos to protect him... and that's when Amethio's Soublades showed up to repel that move and protect them. (The BGM used during that specific scene was good too, it felt kinda knight-like to me, Soublades being a knight who protects others like Liko and Amethio...) I find it quite interesting that we don't know how Amethio phrased his sentence to have Soublades protect them... I wonder what he said exactly. Either way, Amethio protected Nyahoja back in HZ002 when she was about to fall off from the ship and now, he protects Liko and her Pokemon again. I really like that and that this is how he shows up again. He also muttered and went on about Spinel (so he used his name around Liko so maybe she heard him and knows his name now ww) and how he knew he was scheming something... Spinel keeps an eye on Amethio and seems to pay attention to what he does (as seen in HZ034), and despite not acting with the others and sometimes even being "excluded" from their plan, Amethio also pays attention to what Spinel does.

Either way, Amethio used Terastal so he mastered it in the time between HZ034 and now. I talked about his Terastal pose being the same as Friede, which I like because he probably was really impacted by their battle at the castle in HZ025, so he remembers it. His "follow your own path" is also significant (for obvious reasons). Amethio seemed much more in control this time, the way he battled and used Ghost Dive seemed much more controlled. Friede joins Amethio and uses Terastal too, and he seemed really fired up. He suggested a teamup when he asked Amethio to have Soublades ride on Lizardon, and I found Amethio's reaction kind of funny because there was a silence during like, two seconds, like Amethio was considering whether he was going to follow his lead or not ww Amethio eventually does though, and their teamwork was fantastic. I have a lot to say about it, but the inherent trust between the two of them, the way they were able to work together so seamlessly, no hesitation, no miscommunication, it really shows how much they know and respect each other. I feel like their battles during chapter 1 were also important for them to have a good grasp of each other's battle styles, which is also why they can work together so efficiently now. They were both overwhelmed by Rayquaza, but it's good they could team up and I'm hoping they team up again in the future. I feel like Zir watching Gurumin's video in HZ027 about multi battles and how battling alongside friends is reassuring was leading up to this episode and Amethio battling together with Friede.

Liko and Roy end up battling again now that Friede and Amethio can't anymore. Liko and Nyahoja seemed a bit unsure, but Hogator was motivated and learned a new move (Nitro Charge). Liko reaffirms her desire to take Terapagos to Rakua and how she wants to go farther with Nyahoja and be more helpful to everyone (I really like the way she phrases her desire to get stronger), and Nyahoja responds to her feelings by evolving into Nyarote. The growths of characters and Pokemon are intertwined in Horizons, so I knew that Nyahoja would eventually evolve (it was more of a matter of "when" and I already suspected Amethio would be around too), HZ040 cemented the fact that her evolution would be soon too (because it felt logical that the next step after Nyahoja overcame her past and feelings of doubt about where she belongs would be evolution to show her growth even further, and they did just that, which I'm happy about). Nyahoja was cute as she was and I liked all her moments so I'll miss her a bit like that (especially Liko carrying her!), but I'm looking forward to her moments as Nyarote. I hope she has more opportunities to be protective of Liko, Mibrim and Terapagos since she has grown now. Maybe she'll be able to carry the Pokemon too.

Anyway, Liko and Roy managed to land some moves on Rayquaza and made him wince a bit. Nyarote caught Hogator with her yoyo (or vines?) and protected him, which was cute. Terapagos called out to Rayquaza and they talked a bit, but he eventually went away. Rayquaza looked intently at Liko though. I felt there was lots of focus on Rayquaza's eyes this episode (it shows his resolve, feelings, etc). It's still too soon for Rayquaza to join them, but this was a step in the right direction because he is testing them and properly battling them.

Amethio was about to leave with Zir and Conia (who joined him, and they were glad he was okay), but Liko caught up to him to thank him for saving her earlier. He brushes it off and tells her not to misunderstand because Rayquaza is his prey and that's all there is to it as he leaves. Boy, your excuse doesn't make sense (what does Rayquaza have to do with you going out of your way to help Liko ww), but it's okay. There was definitely a shift in Amethio's dynamics with the group (especially Liko and Friede, with him helping Liko and him teaming up with Friede), and it'll be interesting to see how it'll change in the future. The Explorers teamed up together against Rayquaza, and Amethio was not shown with them but with the main group. Also, this episode was Dot's first time meeting Amethio (she was always in the ship when he showed up).

Liko and the others go back to the ship. Everyone is okay, but Liko and Roy are sad about losing, not catching Rayquaza, and seeing the ship destroyed. Friede gives them a solemn speech about how giving up means that their adventure will end. He reminds them of everything they gained through their adventures, and reassures them that they haven't lost as long as they don't give up. Reaching Rayquaza, who once seemed so far away, is incredible by itself. (Friede was really cool in this scene, I love when he shares his wisdom like that and it feels really effective because we know everything he's been through)

Liko and Roy decide not to give up and reaffirm their goals. Dot also joins in and says that she doesn't want to sit in the sidelines, and she wants to chase the mysteries together with Liko and Roy. (Also really loved this scene because Dot has decided she wants to be together with her friends more and it works well after HZ's first year of her trying new things at her own pace and getting used to having friends and going outside) Liko and Roy want to learn Terastal (Roy mentions how amazing Lizardon was, and Liko mentions Soublades) and ask Friede for advice, so he tells them to leave everything to him because he has something in mind (which we know is a transition to the next chapter, as Liko, Roy and Dot will be going to school to learn Terastal). Liko looked at the Brave Asagi and thanked it for taking them this far (good scene, I love that Liko thanks the ship too).

The last scene of the episode is at the Explorers' base. Agate apologizes to Gibeon for not being able to handle Rayquaza. He tells them to allow the RVT to gather the Six Heroes. Sango and Onyx seemed surprised by this decision and Onyx wanted another chance. It seems like both Onyx and Sango are devoted to Gibeon. I wonder why. Spinel deduces Gibeon's plan to have the RVT work for them. Spinel is buttering his boss up ww Gibeon tells the Explorers to monitor Terapagos and Liko (he used her name), and they agree and bow to him.

Two things to note: they specifically didn't show Amethio in the scene when the others are bowing to Gibeon, probably because Amethio doesn't bow to Gibeon? Which would indicate something about their relationship. Amethio also seemed to be at the base physically, alongside Hamber. The others were there as holograms.

Spinel also seems to have his own agenda, since he was shown smiling. He probably doesn't have any loyalty to the Explorers (even though he butters up Gibeon by calling him with honorifics and everything), so something else probably drives him. I wonder what. (I will support Spinel in everything he does. I just hope we get to know why it seems like he is detached from everyone, and that his heart seems closed off to anyone who isn't Blacky. What are his motivations? He specifically referred to the Explorers as a job back in HZ016.)

We get a glimpse of Gibeon at the end. He seems bedridden? His hair looks like Amethio's (he is probably a relative?). He talks about returning to Rakua and getting the "Rakurium" and that his adventure isn't over. He also mentions Lucius. Potential old man yaoi?? Is Gibeon still pining for Lucius after a century? Were they friends? Was Gibeon part of the original Explorers? (since Diana mentioned in HZ025 that the Explorers were Lucius's friends, but I don't know if the "friends" part referred to human friends, or Pokemon friends) Did something happen that caused a rift between them? Maybe Gibeon just wants to see Lucius again to apologize to him? (I really hope Gibeon has human motivations. So far, he has the same wish as Terapagos, which is going to Rakua.)

This episode was written by Kureha Matsuzawa btw, so he is the one who handled the climax for a chapter this time (climax of chapter 1 was by Dai Sato). Both chapters ended with a scene of Gibeon talking (last scene of HZ025 was with Gibeon as well).

Probably my favorite part of Mass Effect Andromeda so far is just how cringefail all the characters are compared to the absolute unmatched masters that made up the crew of the Normandy.

Like, Shepard fought and suffered and struggled for YEARS just to get a chance at becoming a Spectre, and then Ryder became Pathfinder through...... nepotism.

Kaiden fought alongside and under the command of Shepard, and suffered through biotic bootcamp and overcame the odds of a faulty implant. Liam is a moron who I would have gladly airlocked at my earliest convenience if he wasn't so cute and likable.

Cora is... the single least interesting character in the entire Mass Effect franchise.

Liara was notoriously not respected in her field, but she still had colleagues and resources to speak of, even before she joined the crew of the Normandy. Peebee is an emotionally stunted scavenger.

And wanna know the best/worst part?

It makes sense.

The entire Initiative is made up of smart people with ulterior motives - usually inethical ones - and people stupid enough to get wrapped up in this mess. They say several times throughout the game that everyone left "bought the pitch" - they were almost literally SCAMMED into joining!

And these dumb, ethical motherfuckers are gonna cringefail their way to victory, goddammit.

Blitz/Striker-Baby Chronicles: A moment alone

It was a rare moment for Blitz and Striker to have the entire house to themselves. Kaiden and Kirin were in the city visiting with Loona leaving Striker and Blitz completely alone for 3 whole days. Striker stood at the stove finishing up breakfast wearing only his sweatpants and oddly enough his cowboy hat earning an approving hum from Blitz as he came up behind him placing his hands on the other imp’s hips followed by a peck on his cheek. Striker returned the smile then leaned over his shoulder to kiss Blitz before turning off the stove. Blitz moved with Striker as he brought the pan to the counter, starting to trail kisses down the pale imp’s neck to his nape. Striker gave a soft chuckle dishing out the eggs onto their plates followed by a drawn-out hum in response to Blitz sucking a hickey to his pulse point.

“Hmm, Blitz…foods gonna get cold,” Striker moaned, Blitz’s hips pressing against his ass while the crimson imp lightly bit down on Striker’s nape.

“I don’t mind cold eggs,” Blitz retorted with a light chuckle.

Striker arched his back a little with his hands on the countertop for support, his tail coming to wrap around Blitz’s thigh. Blitz caressed a hand down over Striker’s ass, kneading it liberally while planting kisses along the pale imp’s shoulders. Striker gave a hum of approval lightly biting down on his bottom lip, his claws lightly scraping along the countertop.

“Hmm, turn around. I want to suck you off,” Blitz instructed, pulling back to give Striker some space.

“Alright,” Striker agreed in a husky tone, turning around to lean against the countertop.

Blitz leaned in to press a kiss to Striker’s lips, hands nimbly pulling his sweats down just past his hips allowing the crimson imp to pull Striker’s half hard length out. Trailing his mouth down Striker’s neck to his chest Blitz knelt in front of Striker, pressing kisses to the pale imp’s abdomen as he stared down at Blitz. Blitz grabbed Striker’s base then slipped his mouth over the head, Striker’s spines always made it difficult for blow jobs, but Blitz was resourceful enough to get the job done, nonetheless. Sucking liberally Blitz stroked between Striker’s base and last set of spines, bobbing his head down to the first set of spines then back up, tongue wrapping around the crown for added sensation. Striker rested one elbow on the countertop while caressing over Blitz’s horns with his other hand, moaning softly as he watched Blitz through partially hooded eyes just enjoying the sensations. Blitz caressed his free hand up the back of Striker’s thigh to his ass, slipping his middle finger between Striker’s ass cheeks to tease his entrance. Striker rocked his hips slightly into Blitz’s mouth, leaning both elbows on the counter now as he tipped his head back with moaning hums, his tail still wrapped around Blitz’s thigh subtly rattling.

“Ugh, Blitz…” Striker groaned as the knot in his stomach started growing, signaling Blitz to pull off. Blitz lathed his tongue over Striker’s tip on the way.

“Ha-ha, turn back around and lean over the counter,” Blitz instructed with a chuckled at Striker’s little shudder.

Striker obeyed the instruction turning back towards the counter planting his palms on its surface allowing him to stick his hips out. Blitz pulled down Striker’s sweats to his ankles then caressed his palms up the backs of Striker’s thighs to his ass cheeks, kneading them for a few moments before spreading them apart. Blitz leaned in to press the flat of his tongue to Striker’s hole, lathing saliva across it before slipping the tip past the ring of muscle making Striker groaned as Blitz’s tongue pressed further into him, squirming into all the best places. Blitz reached a hand down to pull himself free of his own sweatpants, stroking casually along his shaft as he continued to tease Striker. Pulling back Blitz stood up giving a casual swat to Striker’s backside eliciting a chuckling hum from the pale imp, Blitz spat on his fingers to lube them up then pressed two against Striker’s entrance. Gently Blitz pushed his index finger into Striker eliciting a slight grunting moan from his mate.

“You want me to get some lube?” Blitz asked.

“Might have ta,” Striker confirmed, his tone slightly breathy.

“Okay, hold on,” Blitz encouraged, pulling his finger from Striker to head to the bedroom.

Upon returning Blitz positioned himself behind Striker again, drizzling some of the lube onto his fingers then sliding his index finger back into Striker except a lot easier this time. Striker released a humming moan as Blitz started thrusting the digit, pressing against his walls to open him up bit by bit till he was able to press a second in. After a few moments Blitz pulled his fingers from Striker, grabbed his own cock at the base and poured more lube onto it before lining up with Striker’s entrance. Samantha was grateful to have a puzzle to work on. The busywork of replacing capacitors and cataloging equipment was putting her to sleep. She tagged the table with her omni-tool, pulling up scans of the warehouse, and started marking explosive placements.

“That looks like a lot of cheap charges.”

She looked up at the gravelly voice in surprise. Garrus stood in the doorway, trying his damnedest to look nonchalant with his arms folded as he leaned against the wall. He still looked like hell, though.

She shrugged and waved at the hologram. “You’re actually uniquely suited for this. For a couple reasons.”

“Most of my expertise is in dating someone who punched Reapers in the face often enough to piss them off. But I suppose if you need something shot in the head from 3 kilometers, I’m your turian.”

“What if I need someone to plan a hit for an under-equipped, overly suicidal squad of misfits fueled by little more than spite and a misplaced sense of Justice?”

That may have been a little elaborate. In the last few hours, Sam had spent so much time keeping up with witty retorts she had trouble turning it off now. It took effort to keep up with Joker and James.

“You ah… read my file?”

“I’ll admit my curiosity got the better of me, but yes. I may have read the Shadow Broker’s file on you, as well as the Illusive Man’s dossier, half a dozen resistance newsletters, and then combed the Cerberus Daily News and Alliance News Network logs for mentions of Archangel…”

He remained quiet. Staring at her. Flicking his mandibles in an entirely unreadable and creepy manner. Was he judging her? She was fairly certain she was being judged. With his…judgey anti-hero eyes.

“You have to admit, it’s better reading than most dime novels. The hero with a tortured past running from a home that never loved her, vowing to make at least one corner of the galaxy a better place for the sake of her forbidden lover—“

“Her?”

“What?” Sam pulled herself out of memories of a particularly flowery editorial piece she had—absolutely not added to her personal bedtime collection.

“You said Her. I’m pretty sure Archangel was a guy.”

“Oh, well. Accounts vary.”

“You have a primary source standing in front of you.”

“The forbidden love arc was much more satisfying when it was between the biotic turian and the queen of Omega.”

“Traynor.”

“Better sex too.”

“The mission?”

“Oh God, yes. Sorry.” Her cheeks burned. What was wrong with her? Why couldn’t she focus? There was a perfectly good puzzle on the table in front of her, and her mind had wandered to dark pulp romance. Get it together, Sam.

“I’ve got the notes; just give me the highlights. What’s your read of the situation? What’s not in the logs?”

She took a breath to bring her mind back to the problem at hand, reached back in the conversation for the last thread that was important. Why Archangel was suited for this.

“We have to plan both sides of this encounter. It isn’t a standard operation. We’re feeding information to both Arcturus First Division and Cerberus and can control what they know. Unfortunately, we have people on both sides of this fight.”

“Vega infiltrated Cerberus? I knew the kid had guts, but—”

“Not James. Kaiden.”

“Alenko?” Garrus laughed. “You’re pulling my leg. It’s gotta be Liara running the show.”

“Believe it or not, Spectre Alenko split the team, sent the Lieutenant to track down the Arcturus First Division base, and ordered Liara back to us with some sort of data packet.”

“Alright. We’ve got two resource-starved teams who both think they’re fighting for justice, and they’re both desperate enough to be stupid. This sounds more like one of your Kepesh-Yakshi gambits. Why do you want me?”

“Cerberus’ team is led by a sniper. Most of my training is on groups led from the front or from a com tower. A sniper has a different perspective of the battlefield, and I won’t be as efficient determining his actions. I want to run scenarios with you, and I want you to play Cerberus. We keep running until we find one where neither of us can win.”

He laughed. “Okay, war games it is. Never did play Kepesh-Yakshi, but Shepard and I used to run Shanxi scenarios with cutlery.”

Traynor finished placing the last of her charges, nodded, and gestured to Garrus.

“I win.” He didn’t even look at the map.

“That’s not how this works!”

“You don’t have a single charge blocking access to a sniper tower. Wherever I go, I get there without incident, set up wherever I’d like, and am free to take potshots at your guys for days. And since I’m sitting on the food stores, you’re getting starved out. And you’re not getting up to a half-decent perch. I blow these two bridges and funnel you up these stairs.”

“Alright, Archangel. Round two. Help me place these charges.”

OKAY SO Mass Effect 1-

Stars help me, I was honestly hooked right from the start?? Like even in Legendary Edition (the combined trilogy just re-released in one "can play it on one system + minor improvements", for anyone who doesn't know) where it's smoothed out, of course it's obvious that ME1 is a decade old... but the foundation for these relationships are all there and gods I love them already.

Like - Kaiden right off the top is a delightful good fightin lad, what the hell. I've heard that he's viewed as 'bland' by a good portion of the fan community but I dunno, he's a delight and even more complex by the time 2 rolls around and you encounter him on Horizon, it was honestly Ashley I was way more meh about - mostly because before you can learn about her family history/etc, she comes off as hella xenophobic and I was immediately offended for my growing space family that she didn't like/trust all the aliens around, pfff.

(she gets redeemed a bit through further actions/evolving thoughts, but I thought in retrospect it was a bummer that they didn't flip the order there, give her a chance to be liked before the complicating factor of being so rude about aliens >:c that then she could grow from... ah well. Apparently she has a good arc but uh, let's just say I chose Kaiden at the "key junction" in the latter part of the game so I won't be seeing anymore of Ashley uh... anytime soon, haha.)

Garrus??? Is??????? The ABSOLUTE best???????????

I liked him from the start, I'm always a bit of a sucker for a rogue-detective "the system won't bring this bastard to justice, so I've got to" type and all their moral shadiness XD But he just gets better, honestly, and where I'm at in ME2 (right before the Reaper IFF mission, as of typing this, with everyone's loyalty!) I am only digging myself deeper into this hole-

Wrex is AMAZING I love fightin' middle-aged krogan bastard, gods. Liara is great too, I'm a sucker for a wlw relationship (playing fem!Shepard, so) - buuuut I'll admit she's a bit more one-note in ME1. Last week while I was still on ME1 I remember hearing (while trying to dodge spoilers) that her arc is really good, though. I think they leaned a little hard on the 'innocent but sexy' sterteotype on her (so despite the yikes aspect of a few of the things I've learned in ME2, lol, I actually really like the complexity that's been added to her character.)

Saved Liara first, so by the time I got to Noveria and had the standoff with Benezia there was the chance to have emotions over Liara having to face her TwT and of course, I made the questionable but quality decision to free Queen Rachni heheh. no ragrets

More than a blow-by-blow of my choices though I totally wanna take the chance to say that even in the mild jankiness of ME1 (goddammit, the Mako.... please..... please just go up this impossible cliff I just want to resource hunt-) the way that the lore, both obvious/key to main plot and the lesser/filler/background/world-building kinds... I just love it. It incorporates it well, you can go ham in the codex learning more, or just dive into the basics - it's clearly a complex galaxy (and they do an even better job in 2 of fleshing it out further), and it never really felt overwhelming. It was pretty natural figuring it all out-!

Plus the interesting implications of resource hunting amongst the sapient races, and the little side missions you better bet I did every one of- there's so much rich depth in the story if you do 'em!! (And that lead with that Keeper side mission...? Looking back, damn, clever foreshadowing-!!!)

And oh my gods, Ilios??? hell yeah. I loved that mission so much, especially having Garrus & Kaiden with me when talking to the hologram/computer, and more than anything, that last sprint in the Mako trying to get to the jump before it closed-???

Also mannn I love a good setpiece, and having to go up the side of the elevator, space-side?? such a cool setup!!

Plus it felt good having been Paragon enough (as simple as the good v bad vibe system is, I don't hate it, lol) to avoid one of the Saren fights, ngl. And the er, "second fight" with Sovereign-Saren.... hell yeah

... I'll admit I had to double check my choice re whether to save the Council. I did in the end, but I swear, sometimes the way they phrase things I'm like ".... okay but Garrus is right, defeating Sovereign is more important than these few leaders??????" woops. Listen, priorities, is all I'm saying..... (￣ヮ￣|||)ゞ

'Course later they emphasize (in ME2) that there were 10,000 people on that same ship and I was like well I wouldn't have second guessed if I'd known that, I mean c'mon-

Also I did indeed romance Liara in this one, so I got that scene ;Dc But,,,, I also knew by the end that I was totally gonna romance Garrus in 2 since he's an option then finally,,,,, lemme tell you the guilt as I waffled over whether to romance Liara bc of it. hahaha.

Aaaaand Mass Effect 2-

So I'm only up to right before the Reaper IFF Mission, so I don't know the ending, etc etc lol. That said, I've just finished every side mission I've found with the exception of the Shadowbroker Quest and the Arrival Quest (I've heard the latter basically leads into ME3, and the former is best either right before the Omega 4 jump or in postgame).

So from the start - fuck yeah fuck yeah what a high adrenaline start Shepard noooooo but also yes save Joker aH-

I loved this setup, seriously - especially forcing Shep into this situation, having to work with/for Cerberus, and the compelling reasoning given behind "why" they do what they do (I especially found it a good point that the Salarians have the Task Force, the Asaris the Commandos, the Turians the- etc... like, true, when you put it like that, having a similar group advancing human interests/solving human interstellar problems is pretty reasonable...). That said, I love too that it really isn't shied away from how Cerberus is nonetheless fucked up - or its at least done fucked up stuff.

Listen, I still think some messed up stuff is gonna be revealed in 2's endgame......... after that Horizon mission and the Collector's ship???? TIM I SEE YOU YOU SHADY MF-

I'm so so glad on a gameplay level they nixed the Mako style exploration. A few Hammerhead missions are fine and a lot more focused than the slippery ass navigation in that glorified ATV, pfff. The probes are a neat way of getting after similar resources - and more importantly, having good levels and some good hubs (the Zakera Wards, Omega, Ilium, etc) is way way more fun than having a more 'sprawling' space that is.... a lot of empty nonsense, lol.

Then there's the fact that we get Joker right off the bat and you can interact with him so much - and him and EDI??? Get out gods I love them. Kasumi is so right when she says they sound like a bickering old married couple lol. I have a terrible feeling that some shit is gonna happen with EDI..... but I don't think she's evil as-is, at least.

Side-eying the hell out of those "access forbidden" parts of her that she doesn't even know.... and the fact that her AI core has a locked door access................... something's gonna happen gdi LEAVE OUR ADOPTED AI ALONE.

In general, I love how many levels ME stepped up in two with complexity and interwoven narratives!! Like, to the point it'd be almost a drag to replay ME1, even though it was fun going through it (if occasionally a bit tedious with the cookie cutter rando planet science/mine facilities, lol). Like, just from how fun and interesting ME2 is, mostly! more of all the pre-introduced races, plus new ones, plus more filling in of intragalactic politics, and more interesting implications of all these space-faring races mixing....

Also gods WREX and his planet holy shit,,,,, fuckin' hell yeah my man get their shit together and also adopt Grunt yes good-

And Mordin??? My singing semi-evil scientist best friend forced to confront his choices more than he thought he ever would have???? With some of the best ongoing general report chatter of all the companions??

Like, fuck, the fact that they actually dive into the mixed morality and horrors of the genophage, and you can confront Mordin on it, for good reason, yet he still stands his ground, until finally some bits of his loyalty mission seem to... affect him, and I'm guessing might set up things for 3 with him? Unsure, but either way, damn, the fact that they start to dig into it...

And Taliiiii my beloved forbidden alien wife TwT her loyalty mission was SO GOOD. I love how varied they all are?? Getting to defend her and discover what she'd unwittingly been a part of-!!

Zaeed is a bastard but tbh I love that he is and that he's unapologetic in him - and Kasumi omg, best thief. A heist?? Gods, yes- I love our couch lounge chats XD

Samara is..... illegally.......... she's an illegally powerful and beautiful and eloquent MILF...........................

Honestly I would love more interactions between teammates on the ship, but there's already so much the devs had to balance I can't blame 'em for minimizing, heh. But suffice to say I also love Miranda and Jacob, even if I'm softest for my alien crew XD Hell yeah Jacob, we'll get loud and spill drinks on the citadel indeed TwT

I could write a whole essay on how much I love Garrus oTL Perhaps because he and Tali are the throughlines from 1 on your 2 crew, I have some of the strongest feelings about them... but genuinely, he was one of my favorite companions in the first game, and how you find him as Archangel in two? Getting to help him fight his way out after he's gone nearly 48 hours straight fighting off three gangs alone, jfc. His vengeance quest and what can happen there.... That line? fuck me, that line -

But yeah gods I'm just gonna keep rambling if I'm not careful lol. Gods I don't even know what to talk about it's all so good and while I can understand people roasting the obviousness of Paragon V Renegade (v neutral) choices/alignments, I think they do a pretty damn good job in 2 of pushing it further - to the point that there were some times that I accidentally got renegade points and I wasn't that mad, haha. There's so much fun in the interactions that I just have a good time anyways~

I have so many thoughts about TIM (The Illusive Man) and Cerberus.... theories evolving galore............... and like, what the hell!! Omega 4 going to the center of the galaxy is such a cool twist, goddamn - though my heart still breaks at losing Kaiden (his line if you haven't romanced him?? about feeling like he lost a limb when he lost you??? holy shit.... but I also can't blame him for not trusting Cerberus to the point of it affecting his ability to trust Shepard... like fuck Shep go after himmmm) I'm really excited to see where that goes since he comes back in 3, and what the fuck happens with Cerberus bc while I love the fact that obviously there are a lot of people in it for the right reasons, doing good work, there are those that are doing the opposite, and I have a very bad feeling about where TIM will end up landing....

All that said though I need to do the Reaper IFF mission (where I'm lightly spoiled as to getting That Boy, but not how/what happens to make it so - just that it's apparently wise to have all your side missions done before getting him...) and the actual Omega 4 jump. So we'll see what happens and what I think about it from there heheh!

If the girls and extras were in Mass Effect universe, who would be who (Shepard + his crew) ?

My friend, Kaya, and I actually talked about this because [her fault btw] we are obsessed with Liara T'Soni~ [with fem!Shep not bro!Shep]

Anyhoo~

Shepard - Sivir would make the best ideal Shepard in my opinion. She is strong, cunning, and fits the Shepard image more than, let's say, Akali. I can imagine her being either Paragon or Renegade, or both. Those options suit her more.

Liara T'Soni - Since Sivir is Shepard and I love Liara and she's my main love interest, Kai'sa might suit this role the best. They are both quiet and prefer their independence and solidarity. Kai'sa is pretty wise and observant and would make a great ally.

Ashley Williams/ Kaiden Alenko - I see that role going to Akali, more so on Ashley [except the xenophobic part]. Ashley lives up to the failed but great Williams in her family and I think Akali would suit that role quite well.

Garrus Vakarian - I honestly chose Taliyah because besides Akali, they are also close friends with Sivir. I can see Taliyah being someone who sees the flaws in the C-Sec and wanting to fight for a cause bigger than some galactic affair [you know...the fucking Reapers]. Also, Shepard and Garrus' friendship runs deep [especially when you play only Paragon, you can feel it] and I think that suits Sivir and Taliyah.

Miranda - Take a wild guess. Okay, it's Evelynn. Why? Bubble butt. And maybe the fact it coincides with my personal headcannon of Evelynn and her father, Edmund [oc], having a strained and broken relationship. Miranda is also resourceful and knows how to survive and I think that suits Evelynn. Also...

Jack - Ahri. Now hear me out, maybe this Ahri isn't as loud and crass as Jack but she will fight with Evelynn. I can see Ahri being this rare fox species that was experimented on to enhance her biotics.

Tali'zorah- I chose Sona because I think the Quarian design might suit her the most. [Ignore the fact that Garrus and Tali has a little romance thing]. Sona is wise, smart, and she can explain that she can not talk but she has a communicator in her body suit so she is able to "talk" [so her voice sounds very robotic]

Ashley Williams/Kaiden Alenko - Fuck it, my headcannon so I do whatever I want and they both LIVE. If Akali is Ashley then Irelia can be Kaiden OR vice versa [but I never let Kaiden live so idk his backstory as well as Ashley and I let Ashley live so I can keep giving her shit when she complains]. Irelia would be more stoic and by the book when it comes to it. But she would be willing to break a few rules when to comes down to it. Also, she would be promoted to Spectre and Akali would nominate her as well.

Tbh, my friend and I had a hard time trying to assign ME roles to K/DA. It could go anyway so just know this is just my opinion and even I had a hard time with it. But it's fun!
