the new Firefly animation with the swarm disaster made me remember Argenti's story quest. Specifically how a Swarm bug literally devoured the astral express and how he entered inside the Swarm bug...

truly blessed by Idrilla and stronger than you would expect. Even if the bug was weaker than the ones the Glamoth soldier fought, this is really impressive. We could not even fully see the swarm bug in this.

Chilchuck is entirely unprepared to be gifted a bouquet of flowers out of the blue, especially not from Kabru of all people. Red crops up across his face, and he's staring at the flowers in question. Evidently they mean something to him.

"...Rosebay Willowherb...?"

"It's- not a shop," Chilchuck grumbles eventually, but he's reaching out to take the bouquet of flowers anyways. He's flustered and doesn't quite know how to deal with it, so it comes out as something a little harsh. "I don't even know where I'm going to put these... Or if I have a vase to put them in...."

He turns to go and look for one, but then pauses and looks back to Kabru. His expression shifts through several emotions, embarrassment, confusion, frustration... Evidently, he's not quite sure what to do with himself.

I have done a little bit of research about the fact that santa monica is mentioned and how its pretty obviously names after saint monica whose mostly known as the patron saint of mothers [particularly mothers of wayward children] and those whose suffered domestic abuse..I do think hangman sees himself as a wayward son, think youve raised this kid and hes so smart and so angelic with his little curls and bright eyes and has he grows he graduates college in two years with a bachlors in communication which normally takes two years, he's teaching two subjects that to be are batshit hard! FUCK! even to have BECOME A TEACHER hanger would have had to go through things like:

Take and pass the required PRAXIS [two big exams which each include three smaller ones. Part one is considered the pre-exam meaning its reading, maths and writing and has to get passed a certain grade for you to consider pasisng and then part two covers multiple subject areas think anything from arts to world languages as well as an exam base on things such as the style of teaching meathods]

ANOTHER in person exam about knowing what the fuck youre doing called the edTPA where people watch and you have to record classes to see if youre an acceptable teacher

and thats just to become a teacher, not a specific teacher. and suddenly hes teaching two very high skill, very taxing and good prefession with wrestling on the side, as a hobby. He's somewhat "safe" in the classroom and then one day this little boy youve loved and protected and adored decides that teaching just isnt for him but smearing that beatiful brain that hes nourished and loved across canvas is somehow for him. Sometimes he must sit there with all his burning limbs and bruises and nights away from his parents and people who desperately love him, a million miles away and sure sometimes they go to west virginia but its rare and then he gets concussed and spends god knows how many hours being unable to remember anything apart from the fact he has this...gap in his chest, like something and someone he loves is missing

i really thinkk pink pony club in hangmans playlist was him feeling, at least sometimes. Like he was making the wrong choice. that althought theres people and his family that love him and theyre so proud of him, that sometimes they lie and sometimes he wonders if his mother cries and screams and asks silently what her baby boy has done and just *why* and its his way to tell anyone listening regardless of if theyre related or not, that he does think and care about them and even if he does somehow let them down- he wont forget them and he will always have ties to his hometown and the place that raised and loved him. afterall virginia is for lovers

Resiliency

Today has me thinking a lot about resiliency. As I think about the new administration coming in that doesn't believe in climate change and wants to literally criminalize environmental justice (They literally name names of companies they are going to go after!)- I am firm in my belief that I have to adjust the overal focus of my business. The report out of congress said "subversive activites like "public outreach" or "public education" will demand rigourous scrutiny and meticulous oversight". My business focus has been to better educate community and strategic community outreach. *sigh* So I'm turning my focus in work to resiliency. People can't deny the extreme weather that is happening at an alarming rate. They want to be resilient. So turning my climate focus to be primarily around resilience. I was guest on podcast coming out in January and was excited to talk about resilience and the hope that extreme weather will bring out an opportunity for resilience and joint empathy. You read that right - I'm excited about the opportunity that extreme weather can bring to get people involved i resilience and a shared empathy of experience... .kind of sad people aren't naturally empathetic... but hey - I do look good in my podcastic setup.

On a personal note, resiliency on my mind. Yesterday if we could title it would be "A Definitely Low Point of the Year in the Personal Life of Jamil" - necessary mental health day and break from work. Today, I was back at work because well I'm resilient.... Resilient is an overused word and applied to people in a somewhat twisted way - Someone has a tough life due to a number of externalities that they had no part in bringing upon themselves - historical inequities, discrimination, violent parent or spouse - and when you find the strength to get up the next morning and live your life to the fullest, and succeed and keep doing well, you are resillient! Often we spend so little time talking about the systemic and societal reasons this person had to be resilient in the first place. I mean in the end no one really wants to be resilient - they want to be loved and cared for, to have opportunity, to have community and family - to know that tomorrow will be fulfillment, contentment, joy, love, and empathy from the people around them as they go through. So as I show my resilience, I'm also wishing I didn't have to... and that no one I love had to... and then no human being should have to.
