My research interest is mostly peninsular Spain, but I’ve been taking this class called Border and Diaspora Narratives in the Americas. It’s been really fascinating and, though I haven’t admitted this to my advisor, sometimes I wish I had decided to be a border scholar. It’s so relevant to the world we’re living in now, especially under the cheeto President.

I've been playing a lot of Research Story and hanging out w the community of that and the natural progression of this story is that I ended up drawing a whole bunch of alternate markings for the cat monster in the game because of course I did

The funny thing about being a literature scholar and grad student is that you literally headcannon for a living.

I met with who will be my dissertation committee chair yesterday.

We discussed:

-For the language requirements other than Spanish, I will study Portuguese, then maybe waive the third foreign language requirement in favor of a graduate certificate in Women's and Gender Studies or Global Studies.

-I will for sure be pursuing an ADDITIONAL graduate certificate in foreign language teaching.

-I will likely focus my dissertation on the literature of Spain with a chapter or two devoted to that of Latin America - because we can't ignore the effects of colonialism and imperialism.

So yeah. My Ph.D. is taking shape.
