If Johnny doesnât have any woobifiers then Pony is dead
#the outsiders#ponyboy curtis#johnny cade#thinking about how he repeatedly calls him a kicked puppy. lmao#even if Johnny had survived he wouldâve died anyway in response to seeing how Pony talks about him#but more seriously Iâm always thinking about how Pony almost seems to pity Johnny#I donât think pity is the right word but itâs to that effect#god I think woobifying is the word here LMAO#rereading after ten years.. their relationship is a lot messier than I remembered#Johnny views Pony as a kid while Pony views them as equals#aka Pony does seem to downplay Johnnyâs level of maturity over him#speaking to how Pony views himself as more mature than he actually is- i think thatâs a universal thing for 14 year olds to do lmao#friendships between 14 and 16 year olds CAN be on equal footing but I donât think thatâs the case for them#they have issues with how they perceive each other#on top of the fact that Pony repeatedly compares his own hardships to Johnnyâs and downplays what he goes through because of that#which you see a lot.. if someone has a friend who âhad it worseâ then theyâre not going to notice their own struggles as much#itâs an interesting aspect of trauma that I donât often see portrayed
