AirAsia Philippines reminds guests of strict compliance with security protocols for hassle-free travels
With more guests taking advantage of the long vacation after the Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), AirAsia Philippines Asia’s leading Low-Cost Airline, is not letting its guard down especially when it comes to On-Time Performance (OTP) and safety especially as it expects to fly some 60,000 additional guest from 31 October until 5 November.
Tumblr media
The bulk of the passengers will be flying locally to Cebu, Boracay, Panglao, Tacloban, Davao, and Iloilo, while others will be minute travelers to international destinations such as Incheon, Taipei, Bangkok, Osaka, Narita, Hong Kong, and Macao.
“Other guests opted to exercise their right of suffrage for the Baranggay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). Guests from Metro Manila also took advantage of the weekend break to visit the grave of their loved ones. With these important things accomplished, what’s left to do is enjoy their vacation and visit their travel bucket list,” AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Country Head, First Officer Steve Dailisan shares.
With the expected number of guests taking over 700 flights until the weekend, AirAsia Philippines is also reminding its guests to strictly follow security protocols in the airports for hassle-free travel.
This includes bomb jokes which AirAsia Philippines takes seriously as it can disrupt not only the involved flight, but also all the succeeding flights carried by the same aircraft and affect other airline operations or worse, divert flights.
A few days ago, a flight from Narita bound for Manila was disrupted for more than two hours after a passenger joked about a bomb in his luggage which prompted local authorities to perform a mandatory security screening on the aircraft, as well as the baggage and cargo.
Last week a guest bound for Tacloban who checked in late and missed his flight threatened to “blow up” the airline out of frustration. While no flight was disrupted, the guest was brought to the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Enforcement Unit and banned from flying with the airline.
“As a matter of strict protocol, all matters of security such as bomb jokes are taken seriously.AirAsia Philippines reminds the public that there's no excuse for cracking a bomb joke on the ground and in flight as it immediately raises the alarm among personnel and can cause discomfort among other guests. Not only does it cause trouble, it may also traumatize first-time travelers,” Dailisan added.
Bomb jokes also carry serious penalties in relation to existing Philippine laws under Presidential Decree 1727 and Republic Act 11479 or the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2000, both punishable by up to 5 years in prison or a fine of PHP40,000.
With the expected influx of passengers rushing to the airport towards the weekend, AirAsia Philippines is advising its guests to allow extra time to be at the airport or check in their flights via airasia.com or the airasia Superapp.
Guests are also advised to regularly check their phones and email, or visit the airasia Superapp, the AirAsia website (www.airasia.com), and AirAsia social media channels for the latest travel advisories.

CARPE DIEM (life)
Seize the day —Horace.
"The only reason we hold back is that we think we have an endless amount of chances or that there will always be one more. But as time disappears into the past and life goes on, those chances will run out. You will either live with eternal happiness for being brave or eternal regret for holding back."

Earlier this week, the Gorey District Court handed down a mixed ruling, saying that banning same-sex marriage represents an “unconstitutional state” but is still in line with the Constitution.
Does that mean it is constitutional, or not? In short, it’s constitutional, but not legal.
OOC— Notes
Carpe Diem Life is what we would call the present time. It is the last known reincarnation of each soul.
Carpe Diem Life is set in realistic, current times, in the Republic of Serong. The country is at peace when this post goes live.
Threads during this period of time must be tagged accordingly, including the name CARPE DIEM. (Ex, "carpe diem; thread 001" or any tag you would find more suitable for your tag system.) This is to not get threads mixed or lost when another past life comes into play.
Souls can have déjà vus (a feeling of having already experienced the present situation) of past lives. They can also have reminiscences of people they have not previously known in this life. Or no recollection at all.
To completely remember past lives characters might have had psychological sessions of hypnosis, or give any kind of realistic reason on why they do, but for the most part, they can have the déjà vu moments or dreams.

The Good...
January 26, 2023 (Thank you, Kathy Sabino! I was stuck in 2022!)
Yesterday was Republic Day in India. The day in 1950 when the constitution of a new, independent India came into effect. Interesting that I find two different meanings of the holiday on Google. The other: that it is the day in 1930 that the Indian National Conference committed to independence.
We learned, the hard way, that it is not an ideal day to travel! With no explanation offered (and combined with my ignorance about the holiday), our original two flights to Varanasi were cancelled last week- then one of the replacement flights (from Delhi to Varanasi) was changed to 30 minutes earlier departure. We thought we’d make it—but we didn’t understand the madness of Delhi airport. We had to shift terminals (two different airlines)—and that is like shifting to a completely different airport. 30 minutes to travel from one to another—as we watched the window for our connection whither away. Finally, it was explained that airspace was being cleared from 10-12 for an airshow celebrating the holiday. Ah. Welcome to India. This must have been decided last week: thus, the cancellations and changes.
It all worked out fine. We checked into a nice Radisson near the airport (a little pricey for us- but we were exhausted and stressed.) We ordered in pizza, drank beer from the minibar (Republic Day a “dry day” for the city)- and best of all, I took advantage of the hot shower and STEAM ROOM in the spa. After a month of dicey hot water and bucket baths—it was glorious.
Now on to Varanasi, which promises to be an adventure, so I wanted to get caught up.
The last week has been one of big highs and big lows. I think I’ll focus on the highs, for now.
Last Saturday, we traveled with three students to border villages to interview Partition survivors and others with family stories from relatives who have passed. At every stop we were welcomed with incredible warmth and hospitality. We met one Partition survivor—the great grandfather of our travel companion Hardeep. This gentleman was twenty at the time, (making him now 95/96). His wife and infant daughter traveled by train across the border (a risky journey—many trains arrived at their destination full of slaughtered men, women, and children). He traveled on foot with a kafila. Of course, the wife and daughter would arrive long before he did—and the husband and wife made a plan to meet at a certain bridge near their destination. Days later, they were reunited—all safe. He told us he left many Muslim friends back in Pakistan—and he pulled out a well-worn diary to show us their phone numbers. They remain in touch to this day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that interview, we visited various homes of our student hosts. One village we visited was Batala. By a rather incredible coincidence, I had received a message that morning from a friend, Umar, who Sarah and I met in Islamabad back in 2015. He had arranged for us to interview his grandfather, a Partition survivor. Due to tight security in Pakistan, it was the one interview I was able to attend for our 2015 project, and I fell immediately in love with the grandfather. I remember his story of traveling on a train to Pakistan with his uncle. The train was attacked, and they were separated. For days, they did not know if the other had survived. Finally, they made it to a refugee camp, where they waited for the women and children of their family to join them. It took several weeks, in which time they had no information about the welfare of those family members.
Umar messaged me that morning to tell me that it was the one-year anniversary of his grandfather’s death. He wondered if we had a copy of the interview and expressed his regret that he didn’t ask for it at the time. I promised to look into it and asked him what village his grandfather had emigrated from. Batala. I couldn’t believe it. We were going there that day! He did not know the specific address. But I promised to send a picture and to say a prayer for his grandfather. I sent these pictures of the green fields around Batali, and he wrote back that his grandfather shared how he used to sneak into those fields to get fruit as a boy. Umar said, “ This is so calming for me to see—in a strange way I feel connected to this place.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In addition to the family visits on that day, we visited a special border corridor open to Indian nationals wishing to visit one of the Sikh sacred sites now in Pakistan. This was one of the tragedies of Partition. The Punjab is the home of the Sikhs and the origin of their religion. When Radcliffe drew his line, many of the most sacred sites (including the birthplace of the first guru) were in Pakistan. We were not allowed to cross over (only Indian citizens.) But we could see, up close, that harsh metal fence cutting through the fields.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our last stop was at the shores of the Ravi River. One lonely soldier seemed to be in charge of that outpost—and the poor guy was in a shower stall bathing at the time of our stop. We tried to steer clear and give him some privacy! The spot was breathtaking—and we looked across to Pakistan on the opposite shore. I imagined the refugees from both sides stealing across –most likely at night—praying that they and their families would cross safely.
Tumblr media
The next day we were off to the border villages again, this time with director Emanuel and student Priya, who has been serving as one of our translators. Again, we were welcomed with unparalleled hospitality. The interviews with Partition survivors were gatherings for the whole family. One of my goals for this project is to connect young people with the stories of those who came before them—and I was happy to see family members young and old sitting and listening as their elders talked.
Tumblr media
And wow, do they talk! It is as if these stories have been waiting to burst forth for decades. Once each got started, the stories poured out. We only got occasional translations, and that was fine. The stories were recorded and collected—that was the objective.
I have nicknamed the first woman we interviewed the Apple Dumpling Lady. I remember seeing those folk dolls from New England with faces created out of dried apples. Her face reminded me of one. What an incredible face! She was, as far as we could calculate, 88--and sharp as a tack (as have been all of the survivors so far.) At the end of the interview, I went to thank her and she blessed me. I loved her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later that day, we arrived at the house of a friend of Emanuel’s. After a warm welcome from the family, a son visiting from Canada told us that they had arranged for us to interview the couple next door: both Partition survivors and both in their 90’s. “Would you like to go to them, or would you like them to come to us?” I said that considering they were in their 90’s, wouldn’t it be best if we went to them?!
We walked across the road and entered the traditional courtyard (complete with cows.) We were welcomed by generations of the family, and then ushered into a small room in which a man and a woman wrapped in layers of blankets and shawls (it was very cold!) sat on charpoys. They had both emigrated in 1947- both at 13 years old. They married two years later and have been married for 73 years. He told us that she traveled by foot and had more stories—so he let her do most of the talking. While I didn’t understand much, I did learn that she was one of three daughters in the family. She traveled on foot with her sisters and her parents. They left most of their valuable possessions in Pakistan (like so many, they assumed they would return after things cooled down.) Her father said, “If I reach India and my wife and daughters are safe, everything I value will be with me.” At night, she said, the women in the kafila slept in the middle, encircled by the men, who took turns keeping watch. They all made it safely across the border after 22 days. “Your father did what he said he’d do”, I said. She nodded—her eyes filling with tears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every visit includes the essential group photo. And then, often, individual photos with various family members or groups.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also- the random people we pass by who want a photo with us, or one with us and their children. I should have quite a collection by the end of this journey.

Omicron (III) - various reports
youtube
Scientists are racing to assess the threat from the new coronavirus variant Omicron. Cases have surfaced in several countries - including Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and Australia. Dutch authorities have also confirmed 13 Omicron infections among airline passengers who arrived from South Africa – which first sounded the alarm. Governments around the world have imposed restrictions on travel from southern Africa.             Scientists are still unclear how infectious Omicron might be, and whether current vaccines will remain effective. Once again, it feels like the world is racing to catch up with the pandemic. The UK banned flights from southern Africa and still found omicron in its midst. The list of countries affected is growing while the research has just begun. Germany was already facing its worst wave of infections. Now omicron has been found in travelers arriving from South Africa, threatening to put even more strain on the healthcare system. Israel has certainly heard that wake-up call. With one confirmed case of the variant and several more suspected, it is shutting its borders to all foreign travelers for two weeks and phone surveillance technology will be used to keep track of infected people. They're the most drastic measures announced by any nation so far in the wake of this new development.
youtube
Authorities around the world are rushing to contain the new omicron coronavirus variant. There's evidence it's already spreading globally. Germany has detected two cases in Munich among passengers arriving on a flight from South Africa. Researchers say it could be the most contagious form of the virus so far, and it might even be resistant to current vaccinations. Dozens of countries have shut down air travel from South Africa and neighboring nations including Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. It was bad news for at least 60 passengers who tested positive for COVID-19 after flying to Amsterdam from South Africa. Officials are carrying out further testing to find out if they are infected with the new omicron variant. The UK has confirmed its first cases and is reintroducing restrictions for travelers until more is known about the strain. The World Health Organization has called omicron a variant of concern - with scientists still unclear about its potential dangers. As travelers scramble to leave South Africa, officials there have criticized the world's reaction to the discovery of the new variant. The foreign ministry said it was being punished rather than applauded for detecting Omicron. Australia, Japan and Canada were among a number of other countries which announced travel restrictions - as the world faces another festive season plagued by pandemic woes.
youtube
A NEW Covid super-strain has been officially named as a "variant of concern" with two cases already reported in the UK. Sajid Javid said the new variant identified in South Africa “may be more transmissible” than the Delta strain and added: “The vaccines that we currently have may be less effective”.

Traveling To America? New ESTA Registration Mandated?
What Countries Are in the Visa Waiver Program?
Andorra, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Travel Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Tumblr media
A website, operated by the American government, is where you register for ESTA: esta.cbp.dhs.gov. The ESTA information you submit via the computer is compared with certain American law enforcement databases and then either approved or denied. Foreign travelers will not be able to submit ESTA applications at American airports after arriving or at a U.S. Embassy in their country.
What if I Don't Have Plans to Travel to the U.S. Yet?
VWP travelers are not required to have specific plans to travel to the United States before they apply for an ESTA Travel Authorization. As soon as VWP travelers begin to plan a trip to visit the U.S., they are encouraged to apply for travel authorization through the ESTA website. Applicants are not required to update their destination addresses or itineraries if they change after their ESTA Travel Authorization has been granted.
Tumblr media
An ESTA Travel Authorization only authorizes a traveler to board an airline or ship for travel to the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program. After they arrive, travelers who obtained an ESTA Travel Authorization may still be denied entry (also called "admission") at a U.S. port of entry, such as an American airport. An approved ESTA is not a guarantee of admissibility at an American airport. In all cases, the American airport officers make the final determination whether a foreign traveler can enter the U.S. or not. You still have to establish to the satisfaction of the inspecting officer that you are entitled to be admitted to the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program.
Can I Change My Travel Itinerary?
It is possible to change an itinerary on an existing ESTA Travel Authorization; ESTA is designed so that you can update parts of it at any time. Travelers who did not get an ESTA approval may be denied boarding by the airlines, experience delayed processing, or be denied admission to the U.S. at the American airport.
What If I Already Have a Valid B1/B2 Visitor Visa?
While the ESTA Travel Authorization is completed online with no interview, there are Visas that require a U.S. Embassy interview. The Visa process has separate procedures, which generally require an appointment, travel to a U.S. Embassy, an interview with a Consular Officer, processing time, and the payment of an application fee. If a foreign national already went to the U.S. Embassy and has a valid B1/B2 Visitor Visa pasted in their passport it is not necessary to get an ESTA Travel Authorization because the traveler will be entering with a B1/B2 Visitor Visa and not through the Visa Waiver Program. Keep in mind that an approved ESTA Travel Authorization is not a Visa.
Can I Re-Apply for an ESTA Travel Authorization if Denied?
Yes, but you must wait at least 10 days to reapply and your circumstances must have changed. Unless there is a change in a substantive fact, re-application will not change the result. Keep in mind that applying for an ESTA Travel Authorization with false information can cause a foreign national to be permanently barred from ever entering America. The ESTA system is designed to try to prevent individuals from changing and manipulating an ESTA entry until they receive an approval.
What If I am Denied an ESTA Travel Authorization and Have No Changed Circumstances?
There are three types of responses to an ESTA application; approved, pending or travel not authorized (denied). Applicants who receive a "pending" response are advised to check the website 72 hours later. Applicants who are denied will be required to go to a U.S. Embassy to apply for a formal nonimmigrant visa, such as a B1/B2 Visa, which may take months.
Can a Traveler Find Out the Reason Why an ESTA Application was Denied?
The U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security has stated that travelers may contact the DHS Travel Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP at dhs.gov) but there are no guarantees that information about a denial will be divulged. U.S. Embassies and Consulates are not required to provide details about an ESTA denial nor resolve the issue that caused the ESTA denial.
What If I Have a Criminal Record?
Only those qualified to travel under the VWP are eligible to pre-register through ESTA. Persons who have been arrested and/or convicted are generally not eligible for VWP and probably require a formal Visa, such as a B1/B2 Visa, to travel to America. If a foreign national has received tickets for speeding (which don't usually result in an arrest or conviction) they are probably still eligible for the VWP and ESTA. If a foreign traveler has been denied entry into or deported from the U.S., they require a formal Visa.
Do Any Other Countries Have a Similar Program?
Australia has a program called the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) that mandates travelers to submit an ETA application electronically through a website requesting permission to travel to Australia. Airlines may refuse to accept passengers who do not have either an approved ETA or Visa to enter Australia.
How Long Will the ESTA Application Data be Stored? Who Can Access It?
The ESTA Travel Authorization is valid for two years or until the traveler's passport expires, whichever comes first. The American government will maintain the information for at least 15 years to allow retrieval of the information for law enforcement, national security, or investigatory purposes. Information submitted through ESTA can also be shared with any U.S. government organization.
What Information Does the Airlines Get?
Airlines will receive confirmation of a passenger's ESTA status visa the "Advance Passenger Information System" (APIS) which shows whether the ESTA authorization has been granted for a Visa Waiver Program traveler. It is recommended that the traveler print out the ESTA application approval in order to maintain a record of their ESTA application number and to have confirmation of their ESTA status.
What About Children?
Accompanied and unaccompanied children, regardless of age, are required to obtain an independent ESTA Travel Authorization.
What if a Mistake was Made on the ESTA Application?
The ESTA website will ask applicants to review their application before submitting it. Also, there is an update function for certain information such as email address, telephone number, or flight information. If an applicant makes a mistake that cannot be "updated," he will need to submit a new ESTA application.
What if I Only Have a Connecting Flight Through the U.S.?
Visa Waiver Program visitors who have a connecting flight in the U.S. are required to either have ESTA Travel Authorization or a Visa from a U.S. Embassy in their passport to travel through the U.S. even for a one hour stop. If a traveler is only planning to stop in the U.S. en route to another country, the traveler should enter the words "In Transit" and his final destination in the address lines under the heading "Address While In The United States" on the ESTA application.
What Are the Questions on the ESTA Travel Authorization Application?
The traveler must provide (in English) biographical data including name, birth date, country of citizenship, country of residence, email address, sex, telephone number, passport information, destination address in the U.S., travel information (round trip airline ticket, flight number and city where you are boarding) as well as questions regarding communicable diseases (chancroid, gonorrhea, granuloma inquinale, HIV, leprosy, lymphogranuloma venereum, syphilis [active], tuberculosis [active], and others), physical or mental disorders, drug addiction problems, arrests, convictions, past history of visa cancellation or denial, and prior deportations from the U.S. The traveler will also be asked whether they are seeking work in the U.S., have ever been deported or tried to get a visa by fraud or misrepresentation. The traveler will be asked if they have ever detained a child of a U.S. Citizen granted custody of the child, and whether they have ever asserted immunity from prosecution.
Do I Select "Business" or "Pleasure (Tourist) at the Airport Port of Entry?
After the ESTA Travel Authorization is granted, the foreign traveler will be interviewed by government officers at the first American airport they land. The officer will ask what the foreign traveler will be doing in America and the questioning can take up to four hours in a detained setting called "secondary inspection." The officer may ask the traveler "what else are you doing in America?" repeatedly to try to get "the real" answer. If the traveler is only going to be a tourist, they are not allowed to do any business, including meeting with any attorneys, applying for a bank account, meeting with real estate agents, or other business consulting activities. Even though the traveler is going to conduct just one business meeting while in America, they are required to report it and enter as a business visitor. The business visitor is allowed to participate in tourist activities, but the tourist visitor is not allowed to participate in any business activities. Therefore, if any business might be conducted while in America, it is best to tell the government officers about it at the airport to avoid being accused of lying, put immediately on a plane back to your home country, and barred from America for life.
Tumblr media
Can I Be Searched in the American Airport? Am I Entitled to Legal Representation?
While being interviewed at the American airport, all luggage (even locked bags) can be searched, as well as the traveler's body and his/her cell phone (including text messages and phone numbers) and laptop (including hard drive). The officers may "google" a traveler's name and check out their myspace, Facebook or hyves pages. The traveler is not allowed to be represented by an attorney or even call their attorney while in "secondary inspection." Bathroom visits, water and food may be limited, so it is best to prepare for such an occasion while still on the plane before landing.
Do I Still Have to Go Through the "US-VISIT" Program at the American AirportForeign travelers arriving at American airports and seaports must still be photographed and fingerprinted every time they enter the U.S Who Should I Ask For Help to Fill Out the ESTA Application?
The information a traveler provides on the ESTA application can remain in their file with U.S. authorities for a minimum of 15 years - probably longer. If a foreign traveler has some questions about how to answer the questions so as not to be permanently barred from America, it would be prudent to them to pay for a legal consultation with an American Immigration Attorney who is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Beware of unauthorized private websites that offer ESTA application assistance for $49.99 - they are usually not authorized to practice immigration law and are asking travelers to pay for a copy of the application questions, which are free on the dhs.gov website. If I Am Denied the ESTA Travel Authorization Will it Effect My Ability to Obtain a Visa at the U.S. Embassy?
Tumblr media
When the ESTA Travel Authorization is denied, the foreign traveler must make an appointment at a U.S. Embassy in their country to apply for a formal Visa. The U.S. Embassy is operated by the U.S. Department of State and there are no expedited procedures for those who have been denied ESTA Travel Authorization. Because the ESTA program is so new, it is impossible to predict how badly a denial of the ESTA Travel Authorization will impact a traveler's application for a Visa at a U.S. Embassy or impact their future travel to America in general. American Immigration Attorneys are in close contact with their foreign clients and will share the denial information with each other starting in January 2009. Currently there are no government policies regulating this area of the law, or opportunities to appeal a denial.
When Is the a "New" ESTA Travel Authorization Required?
A new ESTA Travel Authorization is required during the two years if (1) the traveler is issued a new passport (2) the traveler changes his name (3) the traveler changes his or her gender (4) the traveler's country of citizenship changes or (5) the circumstances underlying the traveler's previous responses to any of the ESTA application questions requiring a "yes" or "no" response have changed (such as a new arrest). Can an American Immigration Attorney, Travel Agent or Employer Fill Out the ESTA Application?
A third party, such as a relative, travel agent or American Immigration Attorney, is permitted to submit an ESTA application on behalf of a VWP traveler. Be aware that the traveler is still responsible under the law for the answers submitted on his or her behalf by a third party.

The Honeymoon
Here’s some Stucky, bc I haven’t written them in far too long omg.  Steve has his Infinity War aesthetic, and Bucky has is First Avengers aesthetic because those are my favorite aesthetics for them don’t @ me
“You gave all the information to the cat-sitter, right?” Bucky asks, sitting next to Steve on the couch.
“Mm-hmm,” Steve mumbles tiredly, stifling a yawn into his fist, “Nat has a name, by the way.”
Bucky’s mouth quirks up with a grin, “I know but I like referring to her as ‘the cat-sitter’...makes it feel like she can’t kick my ass.”
Steve rolls his eyes, smiling lightly at Bucky before he turns his attention back to the tiny black kitten at his side. He scritches between her eyes with a finger, and she responds by leaning her head back and closing her eyes as she purrs at him.
“I’m gonna miss you, Zoey,” Steve coos, scooping her up and nuzzling her. “D’you think she’ll be mad at us for leaving her alone for two weeks?”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Steven. She won’t be mad, and she will not be alone for two weeks. Nat is staying over, the most she’ll be alone for is three hours.”
“But she’s still so little. Maybe we should bring her?”
“We aren’t bringing a kitten on our honeymoon.”
Steve and Bucky had finally married almost a month ago. They had been planning to take their honeymoon the following morning, but what they hadn’t anticipated was finding a tiny and scared black kitten right outside their apartment, shivering and drenched from the rainfall hours prior.
They didn’t have the heart to leave her outside, so Steve sent Bucky to the store for kitten food while he took her inside to dry off and warm up. They took her to the emergency vet later that evening, and in the four hours that Steve had known her, he had fallen head over heels for that tiny baby and there was no way they weren’t keeping her.
The vet estimated she was only about five weeks, and neither of them wanted to leave a kitten that young alone for two weeks. So, they postponed the honeymoon for the next month, thirty one days after finding her.
Steve was still nervous about leaving her alone for that long - Zoey had attached herself to him, and spent most of her time trailing after him from room to room, and crying when he shut the door on her. Bucky had managed to convince Steve to leave the cat with. Natasha, and Natasha to come housesit for them (though it didn’t take much convincing, because she secretly loves cats and is more than happy to watch Zoey for them).
“Buck...I don’t know about this.”
“Steven,” Bucky groans, “come on, it’s our honeymoon.”
“I know, I know, I just...I don’t know, I feel a little weird.”
“Weird how?”
“I’m not...sure?”
“You’re probably just nervous about leaving Zoey.”
“Maybe,” he mumbles.
“She’ll be fine. You’ll be fine, too, just think about the honeymoon. We’re going to have a great time, honey.”
Steve grins and wraps his arms around Bucky’s neck. “Yeah, you’re right. I’m excited.”
“Me too.”
*
“So this is what you meant when you said you felt weird,” Bucky grimaces, rubbing Steve’s back as he coughs into a fist and huddles in on himself.
Steve had fallen asleep almost immediately upon boarding their first flight. He woke up three hours later, so congested that he couldn’t stop sniffling. The body aches, headache, sore throat and coughing had kicked in a little while later, and Steve spent the majority of the time curled up against Bucky as much as his large, 6’1 frame allowed. Bucky had managed to get him another blanket, and Steve shivered miserably beneath three flimsy airline blankets, praying for death as the altitude made the sinus pressure increase painfully.
They touched down in Miami, and are currently sitting in the airport, waiting for their next flight to the Dominican Republic. Bucky had asked if he wanted to just turn around and fly home, but it would be a five hour trip back, as opposed to the two hour flight to their hotel, and Steve just wants to sleep in a bed, he doesn’t care what one.
“Ugh,” he groans, sniffling into a tissue. “Yeah, I guess. I wish I would have kndownd.”
“I’m sorry you’re feeling so awful, sweetheart,” Bucky says gently. “Lay down, put your head in my lap. Try and get some sleep.”
“I cand’t,” Steve croaks, “I cand’t breathe lyi’gg downd.”
He swallows around the sharp, raw feeling in his throat with a groan.
“I think we should go home.”
“Ndo.”
“You’re miserable, what do you mean ‘no’?”
“I mbeand,” he clears his throat, wincing as his hand darts to it. “It’s our hondeymboond.”
“I know. I want you to have fun, I don’t want you to be miserable.”
“But-“
“-I have an idea, just hear me out.”
“Alright.”
“Let’s honeymoon in Miami.”
“But-“
“-hear me out, shut up, Steven.”
“Sorry.”
“I’ll find us a hotel here to stay in. We’ll just relax for a few days until you’re feeling better, and then we can explore and have fun.”
“But you wandted to go to the Dombindicand so badly,” he groans.
“I know I did, but...honey, we can go anytime we want. I would rather you be sick the US and not a foreign country...especially one we don’t know the language.”
“Okay,” Steve relents. “I’mb really sorry.”
“Don’t apologize. You’re not allowed to apologize, you can’t help being sick.”
Steve sniffles, coughing into the crook of his elbow.
“Okay.”
“Good. Now just give me twenty minutes so i can book the hotel and figure out where to rent a car.”

It had taken nearly two hours, a trip to CVS and a phone call to Nat, but Steve is finally in bed, half asleep and trying not to feel too miserable.
Bucky is next to him, Steve’s head in his lap as he runs his fingers through his shaggy brown locks.
“How are you feeling?” Bucky asks gently.
“Really...bad,” he mumbles.
“You’ve still got a fever...I don’t think it’s gone down at all.”
“I just took mbeds...gotta give it a little timbe.”
“I know...doesn’t mean I have to like it, though.”
He coughs again, lungs seizing and threatening to eject themselves from his chest. He groans a little, thoroughly miserable as he tries to press himself even closer to Bucky.
“I dond’t like it either.”
Bucky grabs the thermometer and sticks it in his ear, despite Steve whining at him.
“Shush. You’re really warm, I want to check your fever.”
“You just took it tend mbindutes ago,” Steve grumbles.
Bucky frowns, looking at the numbers after a few seconds. “Yeah, and it’s going up.”
“Huh?”
“102.3. It was 101.9 last time I took it.”
“...Oh.”
“You’re starting to sound sleepier...ready for bed?”
Steve nods, fatigue already settled heavily in his bones and over his entire body. He feels himself drifting off, and before he even registers it, he’s asleep.
