So, Rose deserved a slap across the face. Kie would happily deliver just that the next time she saw that wretched woman, and she wasn't going to hold back either. For everything that woman had done to Rafe and Sarah and Wheezie. . . she deserved more than a slap across the face. "I get it." She reaches for his hand, but he's already moving it to touch the necklace that she was wearing, the one that she hadn't taken off since he'd given it to her.

"You don't have to buy my jewelry." She tells him, lifting her hand to come gently to his cheek. "The kisses? I will accept an infinite amount of." Kie smiles softly. "I'm not upset about the flower thing. It's not a big deal. We don't have to be those people in order to show that we care."

" Pretty much. " He says as he looks back at her. " It's not to say you don't deserve shit like that Kie. You deserve whatever you want. If it's flowers it should be flowers but I can't. " he shakes his head. But he does reach over and carefully poke at the necklace around her neck with a faint smile. " I can do that though." And then he carefully takes her chin in his hand and turns her face toward his, kissing her softly against her lips. " And that. "

Maybe one day he could come to her door with flowers and it mean something. Not an apology or a cop out but something just to make her smile if she ever needed it. But right now it's still something else to work through, and for him to keep washing Ward out of his personality.

The song Leif Erikson by Interpol so reminds me of Riara and your version of them. It’s funny, I think the show is overall so corny but this relationship has such gravitas which is completely incommensurate to the young adult tone of the show. I feel like the writers can actually write based on how they developed this relationship but I guess with the overall framework of the show, there are limitations to how much they can explore this relationship. I am glad fanfic writers like you exist to excavate all that complex potential.

gah, thanks so much, man - definitely agree that the show itself doesn't seem to be the best medium for exploring them (or at least, not with the teeth they deserve, since it's honestly a pretty fucked ship), but I do think they might throw in a few fun, shippy moments next season just to keep the appetite for it going. agree with you that the weird groundwork they've laid for them over the seasons seems strangely intentional, but not in a way the overall tone of the show can allow them to really see through in a satisfying way, so it's an interesting conundrum.

Taking the vape, she takes a puff and lets it settle against her tongue before handing it back to JJ. "Well, I was kind of hurried along and I didn't have time to grab the sunscreen." Kie points out. "Y'all were going to leave me behind." She pokes him in his side. "So, if you wake up with a face mask of my skin, I'm not going to take the blame." She can't wait to get her hands on that aloe, though. "Who wants to volunteer to put it on my back?" She already knows the answer to her question, she just wants to hear it.

"That or when you're really stressed. Just ask Pope." JJ nudged him. The guy rarely did weed, but when he did he needed something to calm himself down. "All you gotta' do is ask, and you shall recieve." JJ took a hit of his vape, passing to Kiara. "It is the hottest month of the year. The humidity is a killer. I don't know what you were expecting Kie. You're going shed off your dead skin like a snake."

A slight anger simmered in her bones at what her father no doubt said. Had he told JJ about his threat? It wasn't like him to be so vulnerable. Heavy footsteps lacking usual elegance had the pogue pulling herself to his side. Touch was something hard for the both of them. Yet, she couldn't help slinging her arm around his shoulder. Doe eyes imploring further. Liquid courting the same organ. Her hair blowing in the OBX sickly heated air though the only important thing was the blonde in front of her. As it always was though she would deny it. "You don't want to be welcomed in some kook parlor. Your welcomed with me- with us. That's what matters. Don't insult yourself like that. This is my job.- You scared me, you know, left me there."
