Even Miles believes Manfred is all that. He is a terrifying image for Miles.
His profile description had changed entirely! Gone is the anything to get a guilty verdict!
Phoenix being old mean. He doesn't even let Miles forget he's similar. Edgeworth here implied something else. Like...forging. and Phoenix just as said it. Phoenix really believed he forged evidence. Sad. AA1 Edgeworth never forged but he prepped his cases and does manipulate cases in a way to win. Where the defense won't get the chance to put doubt. Wrong but remember Miles was in the belief all defendants are guilty.
Manfred's an awful man. Even Miles could not call him mentor. Was Miles not allowed to?
Maya is the MVP for questioning Lotta. He's Mr. Emotionally Constipated. Not that Phoenix is all that different.

oooh wait so the plot hole of “why doesnt a spirit medium just channel the victims spirit” is literally bc the DL-6 spirit channeling cant be repeated huh
#im so fucking slow I was brushing my teeth thinking abt Gregory edgeworth in mayas clothes#and I haven’t played aa1 so I don’t actually know the details of it in case I get to play it for myself#but they brought up the spirit channeling mistake with misty and how it basically shot down the kurain techniques credibility right#and like. I guess trying to do that again would be a repeat of that incident which ended up with an innocent person being convicted#so Phoenix not only has to channel Mia because she’s the smarter better lawyer but also because summoning the victim#isnt exactly the first time it’s happened and gotten someone the guilty verdict. huh#replaying justice for all 2-4 so the case with Maya spirit channeling#and after playing aa3 I can really appreciate how much thought they put into the fey family and how a lot of the games events#revolve around it.#Mayas powers arent a ‘long lost ancestor’ as an excuse for her having powers. it is clearly and heavily expanded on#and the infighting makes so much sense when you consider the power differences between branch and main families.. and Mia becoming a lawyer#to find out what happened to her mother AND after being aware of that bloodshed and what it means for Maya#the way she chose Maya and didn’t want that for them. the way she put distance between them on purpose so they wouldn’t become like that#and Pearl is acknowledged as having more power than Maya but she’s fucking eight and loves Maya that she doesn’t see that as any#kind of power imbalance. heck when Morgan uses her for her plan in bridge to the turnabout Pearl was happy to do it#because Morgan said it was for pearls good and Pearl assumed that meant it would be good for Maya too and I 😭😭#the branch system was originally made so that even if you weren’t chosen as the master you could still support the family by protecting the#main branch. and the irony of that being the reason why main family members are targeted to be usurped#iris outright rejecting the notion of communicating to the dead and everything the fey clan stands for#there’s so much fucking lore to this and I don’t see it talked abt enough?????????!?????#yapping#ace attorney#as

you know what's interesting is that it's mentioned at the beginning of turnabout sisters that fey & co. actually makes decent money and can afford things like expensive couches! so it really makes you wonder why phoenix is so strapped for cash later on haha. is he undercharging people? does he never collect on some people's payments? is he simply not taking on enough cases to make ends meet? could be all of those things!
#ace attorney#mia fey#phoenix wright#game screenshots#ash replays aa1#ash posts#it's really interesting to see some of these details that i missed when playing for the first time

PW:AA Spoilers (1-4)!
one of my favorite things about miles edgeworth is how profoundly human he is. we're led to believe he's abandoned all morals leading up to 1-3. then, his interference gets your client a not guilty verdict and you start thinking there's some good left in him. come 1-4, his facade slips and you glimpse upon how caring he truly is, what with him trying to keep phoenix out of dl-6 (and, as a consequence, away from defending him) + paying maya's bail after she's held in contempt of court.
he subverts every expectation you have about someone who falls under his character archetype. i was especially moved by his dialogue in the detention center.
exhibit A:
Phoenix: Can I ask you about the murder? Edgeworth: Wright. I'll ask you again, just leave me alone. Phoenix: ... Edgeworth: Please try to understand. I'm not doing this to prove I'm tough, or because I look down on you. I just don't want you anywhere near this case. Understand?
exhibit B:
Phoenix: Edgeworth? Edgeworth: It's only been a matter of hours since you last visited. Yet you've made incredible progress in your investigation. I'll admit it, I'm impressed, Wright. You were always single-minded in your work, though. Once you start on something, you always see it through, don't you? Phoenix: About the "DL-6 Incident"... Edgeworth: Right... DL-6. I didn't want you to find out about it. That is why I refused your offer to defend me. I'm sorry if it sounded like I thought you weren't up to the job. I just wanted to keep you away from DL-6.
he's quick to reassure phoenix that this isn't about pride or faith in phoenix's capabilities, though he'd used petty insults to ward phoenix off earlier.
i'm of the (unpopular?) opinion that of phoenix and edgeworth, edgeworth is a far warmer person. it's why i can't quite buy yamazaki's edgeworth in most cases, but that's a topic for a different post i already have drafted.
this also isn't meant to undermine the gravity of edgeworth's mistakes as the "demon prosecutor". it's very likely he put away innocents while burying his past. i do strongly believe the first game (and every game in the first trilogy, really) rounds the characters in a way the second trilogy often couldn't, though, and it's that charm that makes the first trilogy feel timeless.
#`ace attorney#miles edgeworth#phoenix wright#vel talks ace attorney#pumped this out bc of my reply on a random tweet lmao the brainworms are worming#when i say 'warmer' i don't necessarily mean 'warmest' or 'kindest' or 'always a pleasant person to be around' bc he's still very mean!#anyhow the reason you'll rarely see me analyzing edgeworth in isolation is bc his character story genuinely makes me breathless with grief#i'll have more to say abt this on replay but i'm excited to replay aa1-aa3 retrospectively#ace attorney spoilers#aa1 spoilers

ok mr. edgeworth!
#been replaying aa1 (well technically. watching my sister play it. irs her first playthru but not mine so) and like wow!#and im remembering. im thinking about these QUEERS (i mean that with love) again theyre INFILTRATING my MIND#very glad i decided to pick up ace attorney in like. spring of 2020. just to see if ''those red and blue lawyers'' were actually that gay#and like yeah.... they were.#im trying to shoehorn in a based on gay manga joke and its not working. Please know an attempt was made#but ya saw him say that when we finished case 3 just now and i saw him say that and i giggled#how come we were so obsessed with unnecessary feelings. this ones might be even funnier#well. to me at least#muffin mumbles

Happy to announce that my AA1 replay is going great and the need to punch Edgeworth in his face is back
#wow FUCK this guy <3#replaying aa1 (maybe the trilogy) (probably the trilogy) to go back to the core#to the original characterisation#ace attorney#GOD Edgeworth was such an ass i love him so so much#whenever he's quiet for some time and then suddenly goes 'heh heh heh#or does that gay little finger wagging going tsk tsk tsk#also Phoenix at some point hyperfocusing on the case and forgetting Edgeworth is there#bc he's on such a roll#is further proof to me that Phoenix genuinely likes practicing law#he likes standing in court despite the stress and obstacles#ties nicely into Mia inspiring him to pursue law and reiginiting that sense of justice in Phoenix#that he originially got from Edgeworth#ofc his primary goal was to save Edgeworth and not become a lawyer. but it's definitely combined to a large degree

Rise of the Ashes - Pt3
End the trial? No way. I just love how confident and classy Edgeworth is every time even if he's bluffing crazy to do what's needed. And it's crazy reckless he went and followed Phoenix's lead. Or rather got a few words from Phoenix and decided to pull the entire case with everyone kicking and screaming.
Lmaooo. Let's burn the world. Gaaaaah. Phoenix is my definite fave but Miles just gets to me every time.
Of course Edgeworth lives to do better. ahahahha. These two are his superiors mind you: his boss he's prosecutor and an executive higher up he's telling a massive Fuck You. He's so classy to booth while doing so.
Of course Edgeworth lives to do better. ahahahha. You just don't know how amazing these two will become. He becomes chief prosecutor. Jap version has the better position for Miles being the Attorney General. I wish the english translation could have done justice to Miles position that's not similar to Lana's. Miles deserves to be higher than both of them. and just as a shout out Phoenix and Miles become so legendary they are basically touchless. They get away with ton of shit they pull in court.
I just love how ballsy Edgeworth is. Like no evidence but he bluffed insanely here to get the case moving.
Edgeworth: Testify.
Judge: ... (Agrees after 3 seconds).
Just the amount of pull he has to get everyone moving. Miles is the type to forcefully move everything and Phoenix is the seducing lady the does the work behind? Sorta.
Lmaooo. I forgot to SS the part of Phoenix. I just love Miles' reaction everytime. A lot is just gold to me. They accuse each other of doing things not being done but you know, it's soooo them. They're so comfy to accuse the other even if they know the other is innocent. And the other would REALLY not be offended.
The Blue Badger is the biggest haunt ever. Drawn nasty. Creepier than Chaka Doll. But it's such a goofy existence needed in AA. It's haunting for an hour. Just imagine a case so big but these two men juuuuust discuss and diss the blue badger for an HOUR!
Phoenix. It will never stop haunting you! Everyone just forgets the Blue Badger is just on that crime. BUT everyone's haunted by it that the vase is a vase. Just imagine discussing the ugly mascot for an hour! hahaha. And Phoenix really started the Blue Badger talk!
That's why Miles is the MVP. Like it's insane how these two represent the sword and the shield! The trial goes on because Edgeworth is a genius. And he doesn't pull punches to keep the trial going. We'll drag everyone no matter the consequence. No matter the scandal it causes.
It's all or nothing. Mind you. one High prosecutor and one rookie defense lawyer is up there. Just pulling the craziest stunts. Everyone is onto them. Especially Edgeworth! Miles is so determined. Consequences be damned. This is more than possibly losing their jobs. The repercussions they might face if things go wrong.
Full throttle!
Like this case is both Miles and Phoenix fighting together literally. The rush I feel in playing AA vs AA5 and AA6 is so different. The first three games does better.
This is just the biggest thing about Phoenix. What made him different compared to others. It's flawed, misguided but with great intentions. Apollo does the best he can. But Phoenix puts so much in himself which is why he's sooo choosy on his clients. He's just as hard on himself like Miles is. Or maybe even higher. He gives so much of himself that client which is a double-edged sword that could destroy him. The betrayal does absolute damage to him mentally given the chance. But, if he's right then great. He sets so high standards on what he could do for others. If that's the case, Phoenix probably needs to set a regular therapy session every case he does. They way Phoenix handles himself is so reckless and might as well be destructive.
And he did make it! It's just as bloody but he made a legend for itself!
This sprite just for this moment is to be savored.
It's not nothing. I don't think any prosecutor could bear what Miles did here. This is why Miles is the best!
And Phoenix knows Miles so well. He knew Miles was having a hard time.
And this what hits the most. There is the now and what comes after.
Still, Miles did everything he could to help.
Miles did awesome!
And he's soooo adorable! Just the complement is way beyond words.
#i still have a last part i need to post but i savored it and will replay the last part because it is gold#the last part is the best#i dont think any other lawyer can outdo edgeworth here#like no one can be so classy but can drag the trial as he does in this case#these two literally burned the world#narumitsu#so much on edgeworth#so much on miles#for the truth#the feels#miles edgeworth#phoenix wright#why phoenix is phoenix#the blue badge will haunt aa forever#aa1#littlestuffs plays aa1#live commentary on aa1

god phoenix is such a dumbass. not only does he bring crucial evidence and presents it to redd white directly to confront him about it, he fucking tells him there's MORE of it back at the office! and he does this alone, without any backup or anything!
this is one of the most frustrating things about phoenix lol bc it's not the only time he does it. i know he does it with mvk but i'm pretty sure he also does it in later games too
