You know, you get all these people who talk about the funny and silly things they do in their sessions and the weird things they find but
I feel like you dont get enough people that talk about how utterly horrifying it is to live like this
To be eternally stuck in a body thats never yours and be forced through death over and over and over
I should be turning 65 this year or at least close, copious amounts of time travel make it impossible to keep accurate track. Ive gone through dozens and dozens of sessions, learned things, forgotten most, ive loved and lived and died, and fought and fought and fought because in sburb you can never stop fighting not even for a moment
Ive turned entire sessions into fragmented code and ripped open holes into the deepest of voids and me and my coplayers jump in every time, new friends, new beings, new lives
Ive waded through the gene code slop of cancerous frogs and come out the other side more construct and grist than flesh only to wake up eternally 13
Ive killed at least a dozen coplayers, either because they were pkers or for the safety of my other coplayers
Ive been transitioning in every session for nearly 30 years only to finish the game and wake up 13 in the wrong body over and over
Sburb is hell, or as close as we can get
But its also so, so, beautiful
Watching skaia break the horizon on prospit and sink below on derse, hundreds of lands never cease to be beautiful in their own ways, fog on broken buildings and mist in endless pines, oceans of anything imaginable sloshing on candy cane beaches and sand made of broken screens
The birth of a Genesis Frog is continuously one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, the sheer majesty of a being that contains a universe, of such internal scale that it boggles the mind
Sburb is so many many things but above all it is a game of creation and survival, its a world drunk on its own pure space, pure volume. Where the laws of physics don't exist and space is a suggestion and time less than a guidebook, its imagination in its purest most distilled form
Its my home, and the only thing ive ever known
I was originally going to be really mean and point out that "nobody talks about how badly SBURB sucks" because everyone already knows it. Every bad thing you described, 20 people are experiencing *right now*, in this very moment. It's kind of like walking into the Room Full of Spikes That Stab You In The Eyes, seeing that everyone is telling stories to take their mind off of things, and then asking why they don't acknowledge how painful the spikes are. But this kind of turned into a sappy vent post. Which I also don't like, but I'll allow it this one time.
Sorry to hear about the transitioning thing, by the way. I'm fairly certain that SBURB should be scanning your brain and generating Dream Self and God Tier bodies congruent with whatever's in there. Either this is a very bad and persistent bug you've kept running into, or you're genderquirked in a different way. Every time I've seen discussions on this topic, it's always centered binary trans people. Maybe the nonbinaries are better at dealing with it, or turned into oysters and can't type or something.
I am glad to hear about everything else though. Fight on!

Hey everyone, sorry for the long wait on any kind of update
We've been making massive leaps in technology to break down the horror terror biology into usable components, something we've developed is a coating for the ship that greatly strengthens it and allows us to move at higher and more stable speeds through paradox space
We saw something the other night however that has us observing at a distance
For lack of a better term it seems to be a giant crystaline structure, but even more strange is that ships are going in and out, all kinds of make and model
This definitely warrants investigation, is it possible that people have founded a city out here?

I really don't get why Time is a mandatory aspect. You don't need it for frog breeding, you can just use appearifiers or whatever. You don't always need to scratch the session, so you don't need their land construct. And unless you're in a weird situation, you shouldn't need to change stuff to adhere to the alpha timeline- the POINT of the alpha timeline is that it's "the way that things go", right? The only way you'd ever need a Time player keep you on track is if you were already under a Time player's influence, right???
But I guess I must be wrong, because I hear the opposite so often...
You could *THEORETICALLY* get away with just using Sendificators and Appearifiers to replicate Time Travel, but it's a lot like using the oven to boil water. Not to mention, Time Players are still useful-bordering-on-mandatory. Time Travel is borderline worthless if you aren't a Time Player because it's heavily unintuitive, the Whispers are your only in-game tutorial, and I'm pretty sure that unless you are a current or Native Time Player, the game actively obfuscates your practical knowledge concerning how to use it. So even if you know what you're doing, SBURB might just cloud your mind and make you perform a basic paradox through easily avoidable accident. It's why I don't like thinking about Time that much.
Like, I'm pretty sure that what you said is true, in that there can only be a Doomed Timeline if someone fucks with Time in the first place. But it might not be a desirable Alpha Timeline. Like maybe one of your players blows up their microwave and dies, and they end up breaking the Server/Client Entry Loop which leads to half of the other players dying, which damns the Session to failure. If that's the Alpha Timeline, then nothing can be done about it/shikata ga nai. But does that necessarily need to be the Alpha Timeline? Because if a Time Player is active (or will be active in the future), then they could step out of nowhere and reveal that the microwave exploding actually created a Doomed Timeline, and thus they "put it back on track" by making sure that player removes their fork from their microwavable noodles before cooking them. From your perspective, a Time Player just stole your fork for no reason, but from their perspective, a Doomed Timeline happened, and they averted it. As opposed to them not doing that, because they didn't exist, and so this Doomed Timeline becomes the Alpha Timeline? Surely you understand what I'm getting at.
It should also be noted, every Land is "broken" in same way on purpose, so the Player has a quest they can go on, so they have a reason to play the game (outside of "this is your life now, do it or die"). So in the same way that the current universe's Genesis Frog is dying, necessitating that the Space Player breed a new one so a new universe can be created, it's not unreasonable to assume that the timeline is innately flawed, and so a Time Player is needed to fix it. To say nothing of the fact that Space and Time are fundamental forces in any universe, and the Genesis Frog requires the efforts of both to be done. So basically, Time is a mandatory Aspect, because the game is fundamentally constructed in such a way that they are mandatory. There is no other way, it cannot be helped/shikata ga nai.

DurationPrince here.
Still In the Outside of Time Bubble, but I started to make progress. I can almost feel the bubble starting getting weaker.
But another thing I questioned...
I got the prince role, the one that actively destroys. And yet I really didn't DESTROY time in my session, yet I presume my role coefficient is at least decent considering I'm still alive
My abilities don't really destroy time: my "Causing stuff to happen faster", just manipulate it to end faster, [In The End] just manipulated time to go from Infinite to Zero. Hell my Berserk trigger just put me in a bubble instead of destroying
Sure all of it ENDS time, but not through destruction but through manipulation of time to end faster.
In addition, I rarely encountered time corpses or other temporal MEs, something a prince of time SHOULD have at least a good amount of
Then how is my role coefficient is still maintained?
While Princes are categorized as a "Destroyer Class", their actual definition is "one who brings to an end". Destroying something does count as bringing something to an end, but it's not the only way to end something. It's just the go-to for most people because 1) physically obliterating things is very cathartic 2) Princes very powerful offensive abilities and it's also fun to blast those around 3) some people are just not very imaginative. Princes and Bards do also have support and non-combat abilities, including psy-buffs, which would "bring an end" to someone's ongoing mental ordeal or otherwise immediately reconcile an issue they're going through.
"Making things happen faster" causes them to come to their conclusion faster, and as I've posited before, the bubble is probably meant to help you "bring an end" to the various stresses you've been though, in an environment where there is no ongoing thing to worry about, and which will have taken place in an instant from everyone else's perspective. This is also, by the way, the Less Bad Option. Time-based Berserk Triggers tend to spell existential metaphysical devastation and injuries that can't be fixed. Who's to say that if it didn't focus inward on giving you time to think, it would have spread outward as chunks of the entire universe experience accelerated entropy, so they stop being something you have to worry over? Or maybe it just turns into Time Lasers, that's still really bad.

Hey, relatively new to the replayer thing (only in my third session so far) and had a few questions.
1) Any rhyme or reason to how titles and aspects are distributed to replayers? I've been a native Maid of Breath, Rogue of Hope, and currently Sylph of Mind.
2) Is there some sort of benefit to yelling out your special move names like an anime protagonist, or is my coplayer just being a nerd?
3) Any specific "noob traps" or habits that replayers can fall into that will make the gods of the game itself slap you with a heavy dose of hubris?
4) What's vagabouncy? This is the only place I've heard about it, I haven't met any other players yet who know of it.
thanks in advance for any help! -emeraldFeathers
Your Native Title is significant, every Title after that is just nonsense. Or more accurately, it was significant for the previous occupant of the "slot" in the Session you are now filling, but isn't anymore because you're a different dude. Some people think their Replay Titles are significant along their "infinite journey across Paradox Space", but that's mostly wishful thinking. Assign meaning to it at your discretion.
There's no benefit unless you're a Rage Player, because Yelling is the elemental manifestation of Rage. Your coplayer is a nerd, but also you're a nascent godling who does in fact have magic powers, so let them have this.
Your experiences in previous Sessions do help, but don't assume that every Session will be exactly the same as the previous one(s). The game can be pretty inconsistent even before taking bugs into account. Virtually everything is semi-randomized. Don't fall into ruts or adhere mindlessly to patterns and you won't be caught off guard when the game throws a curveball. There's a balance to be struck between experience and flexibility.
Vagabouncy is a method through which one can change their Title to anything they want. It's a one-per-Session thing, so only one person can Vagabounce, once. Someone told me they were in a Session where half of their players Vagabounced, so I don't know if I'm just wrong on that (unlikely) or if they are somehow misunderstanding or lying or whatever. Basically, go to the house of mirrors on one of the Dream Moons, there's one special mirror that will change your Title if you smash it while thinking about another Title. Don't deliberately pick a Title you know the game shouldn't give you, and try not to Vagabounce for no reason.

Sorry for the lack of updates
Honestly basically nothing has happened in ages
Been a few months we think?
We've kinda just been mindlessly playing a copy of Stellaris that we found
Research on the piece of the other has basically stalled into nothing we are developing further technology to break down its biology
Honestly we're just, bored
Completely and utterly

I’ve been writing a bunch of stuff as cyclicPortalization on Ao3 lately, this is my longest one. So far, it’s up to 12 chapters posted, but more are written and coming soon. I figured I’d explore these Classes and Aspects before I use them in sBrier directly.

Hey so something horrifying ive discovered
Bards of life can give people cancer
Like super giga cancer
How do i know you ask?
I gave the white queen giga cancer on accident and now im banned from prospit
So yea shits crazy and also my coplayers will no longer speak to me
People act shocked when they learn about the cancer thing, as though Life's domain over biology and growth (and the necessity of Doom to bring an end to it and create a healthy cycle) wouldn't obviously lend itself to giving people super-tumors.
But yeah, most Life players purposefully try to keep the cancer thing a secret because people get nervous when they learn their dedicated healer can also make you die in the most slow and agonizing way most pre-SBURB media could hype up. You are now a member of an elite club, home to few. Consider yourself proud, and try not to tell new people that you can do this.
