Very specific TWST head cannons
Jack was accidentally given alcohol by a third year at a party because they thought he was also a third year.
Ruggie would make bets with students if they can guess Jack's age correctly.
Malleus would stay back at after the final class of the day just to sing, he likes the sound of the empty class room. He stopped doing that because a rumor about a "haunted class" was spreading.
Sebek yelled so hard one time, he couldn't talk the next day due to the pain.
Vil watches those self care videos, as in the earwax removal, black head removal, technically any of those gross removal videos. It's a guilty pleasure of his.
Cater is a hot cheeto girl, he and Idia would make ramen and put hot cheetos in it.
Silver is a heavy sleeper...like heavy sleeper. One time a fire broke out in Diasomnia and everyone was screaming. Only after the fire was out did he wake up.
Malleus used to talk to stuff animals as a kid.
Sebek monologues to himself, and everyone can hear him.
Sebek when he was a kid chased another child with a broken ruler for saying Malleus' name in vain.
Riddle and Jamil have this weird friendship, basically it's just them trying to relax but remembering there are idiots who are in the dorms and can't rest until they get things done.
Each dorm has their own WiFi router, Idia usually hacks into the others in case Ignihyde's one is down or he just want to see people's search history.... Let's just say he's not comfortable around certain classmates.
Idia permanently puts Ortho on child lock so people won't ask him to look up not so friendly things on the internet.
Ortho can get sick from viruses or corrupted data he accidentally downloaded.
Jade and Rook have a passive aggressive rivalry. Like imagine them in the botanical garden having lunch and Jade handed him a poison mushroom infused tea and Rook just 'accidentally' pours it in a plant watching it wither. While looking Jade dead in the eyes, both have smiles on there faces, as they passive aggressively try to kill each other.
Cater x Jade or Rook would be so fucking funny. Like imagine dating the most dangerous students in the school but hey at least the dick is crazy.
Trey has a collection of his baby teeth and his siblings baby teeth on his night stand. No-one brings it up...ever.
another reason why Cater doesn't eat sweets is because he'll get a tooth ache just eating a smore.
A student once asked Crewel if it was possible to make 'crack' in potionology..... Crewel wasn't getting paid enough for this.
Crowley has committed tax evasion.
Azul Is thicc. I said what I said, and don't boo me. I'm right.
Ruggie is banned from Monstro Lounge due to finding loop holes in Azul's contracts and getting free stuff.
Malleus hates cake with too much frosting, It defeats the purpose of the cake.
Malleus would use fae circles to teleport prefect to him.
Floyd likes to just bite things, especially his phone case.
Rook takes the best photos.
Sometimes people forget that Vil is an actor and model, so when seeing him in a movie, commercial or magazine they just get jump scared and remembered .
" oh yeah....Housewarden Vil is a celebrity.."
I think prefect is desensitized to meeting famous or high status people that they're not a big deal to them. Imagine Prefect going to a cafe and THE KALIM AL ASIM Is paying for their drink, everyone is shocked that someone who's richer than royalty is paying for you and all you say is " Oh thanks Kalim. "
I feel like up to book 6 every dorm leader helped out in repairing Ramshackle adding there own piece of their dorms in there. A gaming room from Idia, A luxurious bathroom with skin care supplies and designer clothes from Vil, pantry and groceries from Heartslaybul and Scarabia and a cook book from Trey and Jamil respectively. An indoor and outdoor pool from Savannah claw, wallpaper and decor from Azul, and finally furniture and jewelry from Malleus.

Would Moon boys do the housework for reader?
Of course they would! But in different forms because... well, you know them.
Jake Lockley:
*Won't pretend to be The Man®, he rather makes the outdoors chores, but he loves doing them.
*Shopping is his favorite one, he doesn't hesitate in buying the good stuff despite the price, and sometimes he appears with something special to cook. The thing is Jake is not the best cook, but at least helps you with some basics like whisking and stuff.
*He rather lives and works by night, a good time to find interesting things like last hour offers or going to do the laundry.
*And at this point you may be asking, why tha laundry? Oh, because he takes care of clothes better than anyone in that shared body. Marc keeps ruining everything for being so unaware, and Steven doesn't pay a lot of attention (if something's clean, it fits), but Jake loves having his wardrobe on point.
Steven Grant:
*The perfect househusband if you ask me. He'll do whatever is needed or requested by you, and will do it happily.
*You may thing he's messy for the way his flat is, but you're wrong. He cleans and undust everything every weekend, you won't find a single bug or trash in his place.
*But his favorite thing to do is cooking. He had read a lot of cook and bake books and having you with him gives the chance to put his theory on practice. And surprisingly, he has a good hand for that. If you have a favorite meal or you have a foreing heriatage, he'll put even more effort on cooking traditional dishes.
*Maybe gets a little addicted to do the chores, you must stop him when you've just finished dinner for he wants to wash the dishes at point. "No, no, I'll do it" "But you've been working all day" "So what? This is my home as much as yours, Steven, you don't have to do everything here"
Marc Spector:
*Has a good sense of keeping a house clean for he had lived alone by years, but has a very weird schedule and form to do the chores, one you cannot understand but usually works.
*He feels far better doing the special tasks, not because he dislikes the basics but because he feels more useful taking care of plows, electricity and repairing furniture or walls. And when he does it, he keeps this weirdly serious, yet relaxed expression.
*And also works with sleevless shirts and that's a delicious plus
*Likes to do things with you like buying groceries. He walks next to you, like a big and slightly clumsy dog, enjoys in silence the supermarket chat you always pull out and helps you to carry the bags. Belive it or not, he treasures this moments for they make him feel like a normal person, someone who can enjoy common things in life and forget, for an hour or two, he's attached to an angry Moon god.

NEW LOCATIONS ADDED !!
After asking for some new location suggestions, we were grateful to get a number of them that we can add to our little town! The following locations have been added:
BENNY'S -- department store in the suburbs. offers everything from home goods to furniture to electronics to clothes!
THE MEADOWS -- large park in the countryside, with athletic fields and space to roam.
PAGE TURNERS -- a comic book shop that also sells video games & does exchanges / trades in the downtown area.
UP IN SMOKE -- a little smoke shop with skill games, located downtown.
LUPINE LANE -- mobile home park in the suburbs. quaint, cute, picturesque is what comes to mind.
THE YARD -- town-run junkyard located in the countryside. root through the junk or cash yours in.
FIX ME -- IT / tech repair shop located downtown, specializing in making your life less stressful.
JADE'S JEWELS -- jewelry store located along the coast. family-owned and operated through the years. watch repair, too!
SOLES -- shoe store located along the coast. can buy anything from cowboy boots to sneakers, will repair shoes, as well.
MEDICAL COMPLEX -- doctors offices every small town needs, conveniently located in one plaza/complex in the suburbs.
WILDFLOWER WAY -- a privately owned, but open to the public wildflower field for photography or long walks in the countryside.
To clarify a few suggestions that did not make the list, and maybe make it easier for people to find things that they need, you can find meats at the deli, and tutoring can be done at the public library, in an annex. Furniture can be purchased at one of the antique or thrift stores, and ordered/purchased brand new at Creekside, or the department store that was added. Bikes have always been available to be purchased at the toy store, if anyone is looking for those, or in the outdoor store for more of sport-related bikes, as well.
Thank you again for all of your suggestions! We are always open to them, though -- not just when asking! So if you have something you feel would enrich the town, but still makes it feel like a 'small town', feel free to suggest. xx

Watch Fob Slob
Alek had meant well enough when it all started.
There was a sidewalk sale going on in the antique store below his apartment, and he was always looking for a new piece of furniture to brighten up his sad little studio, so he popped down. He had only just gotten to the bottom of the outdoor staircase connecting his door to the pavement below when he saw it glinting in a cardboard box marked "FREE". He reached into the box, curious.
When he withdrew his hand he saw he was holding a tiny medallion with a miniature painting of a lapdog on it. On the back, there was an inscription in a sturdy, archaic font:
OBEDIENCE
"That's a very unique piece," said a voice behind him.
Alek turned around to see Mrs. Lexington, the fiery little woman who ran the antique store.
"It is very beautiful, I love the little portrait!" Mrs. Lexington smiled, but there was a glint in her eyes he didn't recognize.
"Something tiny like that in a big old place like this is something special, only reveals itself to the person who ought to own it!"
"Do you know what it's purpose was?"
"It's a watch fob, kiddo! you attach it to a watch chain. And one like that is very unique indeed, the dog represents loyalty and obedience."
"Well, I don't own a watch with a chain, but..." Alek reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He plucked off a phone charm, some anime character his nephew had given him, and with some effort he attached the fob. "There!" He exclaimed cheerfully.
"You be careful with that, it's more responsibility than you know..." Mrs. Lexington said, her face deadly serious.
"Of course, Mrs. L. I would never lose something I got from your shop, how would I live it down?" Alek laughed. "Oh shoot, you know I forgot my wallet! Let me run back upstairs and I'll be right back down. You know I've had my eyes on that chaise lounge!" He was marching back up the wood stairs when he felt a sudden softness below his left foot and then a terrible snapping sound as his leg plunged through the rotten plank.
"AAAAHHH" Alek cried as he stumbled. Thankfully he was only on the third step, and pulled out his leg with a bit of effort. "This stupid staircase should have been repaired years ago, I could have been hurt!" he fumed. He took a photo with his phone and headed toward his landlord's house, a block away.
____________________________________________________________
Tony Marucci was sitting back in his easy chair watching March Madness when he heard the aggressive pounding on his door. He got up and waddled over to the door, pulling his basketball shorts up over the three inches of exposed, fur-lined ass crack. The giant man had been a college athlete himself once, 10 years ago. However, the multiple properties he inherited from his dad coupled with his natural laziness had slowly but surely the Italian Stallion into a lumbering bear. He opened the door and looked down at the angry little otter who lived in his property stood there with fire in his eyes.
"What can I do you for, Alex?" Tony asked easily leaning against the doorway on one arm. He flashed a hairy, unwashed pit and his wifebeater rode up. He scratched his fuzzy midriff and watched the poor little guy's resolve falter. Tony wasn't queer or nothin', but he always loved attention, especially if he could use it to shut up whiny tenants.
The yappy little dude ran a hand down his bearded face quickly and his anger had returned. "I just stepped through one of the rotten planks on my staircase, which I told you needed to be replaced! You need to get someone to fix those immediately or-"
"Listen Adam," The giant man bowled over the irritating little tirade. "All complaints must be put in writing and submitted via email, we've talked about this."
"I did that! Two months ago! And you ignored me! Now I have come in person to tell you if you don't get someone on it immediately I will withhold my rent, which I think you will find is within my rights in this city!" Tony didn't know if he wanted to punch the little dork or give him a noogie like he was an annoying little brother. He took in a deep breath and sighed.
"Do you have photographic evidence of the damage?"
The little dweeb practically jumped out of his skin getting his phone. "Yes indeed I do, I'd like you to take a look at these! I could have been killed! And Mrs. Lexington is my witness, these stairs need to..."
The yapping continued incessantly as tony looked down at the photo of the hole in the step. He rolled his eyes at the minor damage when something glinted just outside of his vision. What is that? He thought absently, his eyes following the dangling charm on his tenant's phone. So prettyyyy.... The charm twirled around and a word flashed across his eyes and burned deep into his brain:
OBEDIENCE
The slob's scruffy jaw went slack, falling open. A string of drool slowly spooled as the little man in front of him continued to emphatically prattle in his direction.
_____________________________________________________
"I bet I could get some of your other tenants together and start a strike, I'm sure you treat them just as neglectfully as you treat me, is that what you want Mr. Maru- ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME MISTER MARUCCI?" Alek was red in the face from his one-sided argument. when he finally looked at up at the landlord, the man was staring at nothing with his face and arms slack.
"listeninggggg" groaned the entranced bear.
"Wha- what are you doing?" Alek said, suddenly worried the handsome slob was having a stroke.
"Obeeedieeent" he crooned in reply, giggling dumbly.
Alek was confused for a second, and then remembered the word on the watch fob. "Are you...no, that's insane..." He regarded his landlord suspiciously. "Stand up straight."
The entranced goon in front of him immediately complied, his arms at his sides and his feet together. His jaw snapped shut, and he looked like a chubby toy soldier. Alek didn't know how to react, and he laughed frantically. He ushered his unwitting victim into his own house. I wonder what I can get away with, he thought to himself.
"Take off your shirt" He commanded imperiously. The bear complied, peeling off his sweaty wifebeater and revealing his hair peppered belly, chest, shoulders, and back. Alek reached out gingerly. He was scared of breaking the spell, but as he felt the warm, pliant flesh of his landlord's belly, the man simply leaned into his touch and hummed a single, needy note in the back of his throat.
"Do fifteen jumping jacks." The man instantly followed instructions, bouncing in time in a way that waws nearly hypnotic to Alek. His silky basketball shorts slowly migrated down his hips as he jumped, revealing that he was going commando, and that he had never heard of manscaping. Finally, with most of his pubes and half his ass hanging out, he stopped and stood up straight. "Behave normally."
Tony seemed to snap out of it with a snort, but he was still clearly fully absorbed by Alek. "Hey Alek! Don't worry about that staircase, I'll someone out there as soon as possible, I promise."
"In the meantime, I can stay here with you." Alek suggested.
"In the meantime, you can stay here with me!" Tony smiled, as if he'd come up with it.
"It could take a month for someone to get out there so I'll make myself at home." Alek smirked
"It could take a month for someone to get out there so please make yourself at home." Tony parroted hanging off his tenant's every word so much that they felt more like his true thoughts than his actual internal monologue.
"I can take your bed obviously, rent-free, and I can use your body however I see fit. You'll love whatever I do to you."
"You can take my bed obviously, rent-free, and you can use my body however you see fit. I'll love whatever you do to me" The mindfucked landlord grinned stupidly back.
"I'm so glad to hear it, Mr. Marucci, or should I say Tony" Alek grinned. Now why don't you show me to the bedroom, and you can show me just how sorry you are for breaching our contract?" In a flash, the giant bear was leading his new owner to his bed to start the beginning of his new life.
A life of Obedience

My angel number. Keep going, take the risk, move forward, change is happening.
Today I’ve been researching names for my consulting business. I’m circling around dreamlandd (Dream + LandD) - the .com is available. I snagged it as an option. I set up an appointment with my tax person to next week to identify what kind of corporation I’d set up, there are a lot of options and I want to make sure I’m doing everything correctly. I’m thinking I’ll just do a sole proprietorship out of the gate but if anyone has any advice on that versus an S-Corp, I would appreciate it!
After that, it’s just locking the name and applying for a business license. I also need to compare the merits of basing it in Washington vs California which she will help me with.
My flight is booked for Seattle in a few weeks to start dealing with all of the deferred Alki maintenance. There was another power surge which fried the upstairs furnace transformer, so I had to get that repaired, I’m hoping I can make a claim with the city to help cover that cost. Upon inspection, it turns out that the furnace downstairs is over 31 years old, which is insane, they only last about 15 years so I am well overdue for a new one. I think it can last a while longer while I assess the cost of putting another floor on the top of the house, which in that case, probably, I’d likely just replace both of them. I’m so bad at understanding any kind of basic house maintenance, that needs to be some thing I develop more of an acumen around this year.
Otherwise, my sister‘s ex partner who is a contractor is going to come and look at the floor in the bottom unit that was damaged by the leak, assess for mold and then give me a bid for replacing all of the flooring. There’s also a ton of old broken furniture, an outdoor fireplace and barbecue that are rotted out and a really old outdoor storage unit that’s rotted that I’m going to have a junk service removed.
Onward!

All you need to know about French Polish – (Shellac, Alcohol, Oils )
Maybe you have heard about wood polishing and maybe not, but either way, there is a good reason why the topic has caught your attention. Wood is an integral part of any home decor, and when it comes to bringing out the natural beauty of wood, there are plenty of options. However, while some methods work better, each has its place and benefits. Keep reading to learn more about French polishing, what it is and what are its options you might want to consider instead. Also, you can connect with
Osbond and tutt to know more about French polishing. We are famous surface finishing specialists in London. Our work is unmatched in professional furniture polishing.
Tumblr media
Shellac for French Wood Polishing
Shellac is a type of natural resin harvested from an Asian insect. This sticky substance is then dissolved in alcohol, evaporated, and formed into a powder. This resin has several vital uses in the home, such as wood polishing. When dissolved in alcohol, it becomes a liquid easily applied to the surface of the wood. Once dry, it forms a smooth and durable finish that can last many years.
Alcohol for French Wood Polishing
As with shellac, alcohol is the solvent for creating this wood finish.  Alcohol wood polishing is a very simple process that doesn’t require much more than the alcohol itself, a rag for application, and a small amount of water for cleanup. The alcohol is applied to the surface of the wood; then, the excess is wiped off with a rag. The alcohol is allowed to dry; once it has, buff the surface with a soft cloth. In addition to being a very easy process, alcohol wood polishing is also a very inexpensive alternative to other methods. This makes it an excellent option for finishing smaller pieces of wooden furniture or decorative items.
Oils for French Wood Polishing
Oil wood polishing is a long-lasting finish that has been used for centuries. Traditionally, linseed oil comes in handy for this finish, but other oils are good options too. For this type of finish, a special oil-rich wax is applied to the wood, allowed to dry, and then buffed off. It leaves behind an even coat of wax that protects the wood from damage and natural elements like water, air, and sunlight. The wax will darken and add a bit of shine to the wood over time. Depending on the type of oil used, the wax finish can be anywhere from semi- to completely see-through. It makes it an excellent choice for use on furniture that should be functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Which is best- Shellac, Alcohol, or Oil for French Wooden Polishing?
If you want a durable finish, then shellac is the best choice. Alcohol, on the other hand, is best for people looking for a quick finish. Oils are best for people looking for a more clean finish. If you want good professional furniture polishing, then connect with us.
Why us?
Osbond and Tutt is the hub of London's best surface finishing specialists.

He Could Be The One - Bradley Bradshaw x Reader - intro chapter
about:
she makes the move to open her own florist across the street from her family friends bar, finally putting herself first and following her heart.
having secured a permanent position at top gun, he’s starting to think about setting down and having someone to call home.
warnings: age gap {reader is 27, Bradley is 35}, slow burn, no use of y/n, 2.7k words.
Bradley’s pov:
Rolling up the windows as I pull up to the side of the street outside Penny's, I grab my phone from the passenger seat along with a 6 pack of beers I'd picked up on the way here. I get out of my car, push the aviators further up the bridge of my nose with my free hand and make my way to the side gate. When Penny and Mav announced to the group that they wanted to host a small get together, I think everyone was grateful for the small break and immediately we all said yes to attending. Repairing my relationship with Mav hasn’t been simple but I don't think I've ever been happier. Feeling like I have a support system in my life again is one of the greatest feelings. The small group has become like family and I feel lucky to have them.
Noticing all the outside string lights had been switched on, I turned the corner of the house and nudged the unlocked gate open, to be greeted with most of the group already here.
“Rooster!” I hear to my left. Looking over to where the voice is coming from, I see Penny smiling at me with a couple of beers in her hand. “Penny, hi” I beam as she hands me a cold beer in return for the 6 pack i’m holding. “Thanks for inviting me over. The place looks great by the way.” Mav had me helping with some redesigning of Penny's backyard and to put some outdoor furniture together. “Well I can't take all the credit.” she joked, nudging my arm slightly. I chuckled and scanned the outdoor space.
Through my sunglasses, my eyes spot most of the guys but come to a halt when they land on someone unfamiliar. She’s in the far corner of the backyard overlooking the water, by a large area surrounded by plants that Penny had planted while Mav and I were piecing together the furniture. Natasha is chatting to her, both smiling and engaging with each other. Sensing a pair of eyes on her she turns to look over her shoulder, hair flipping with the motion of rotating her body and catches my eyes. I couldn’t see the color of her eyes with the distance between us but they were shining bright at me from the golden sun streaming down. A smile surfaced on her face before glancing at Phoenix to once again look back at me with the same smile still there. Slowly bringing my glasses down, tucking them into the front of my white shirt, I feel my lips curving into a smile.
From the corner of my eye I could see Mav coming up to us. “Bradley, glad you could join us.” Mav says instantly bringing me back to where I was, realizing I'd probably been staring at her for maybe a moment too long. “Hey Mav,” I say as he pats me on the shoulder in a greeting. “I see you managed to put the fire pit together finally.” I laughed. He'd been complaining on the phone to me earlier that he couldn’t work out how to assemble it but I'd been caught up in some work that I couldn’t get out of to help. “Ha, yeah. Turns out Penny can read instructions better than I can.” smiling at Penny, who was in turn giving him a teasing look back. “Need me to do anything?” asking the couple. “No, no. Go sit down and enjoy the rest of the day.” Penny says. “You’ve helped out tremendously this week, go relax with the others.”
Thanking her I made my way over to Bob, Reuben and Javy who were stinging amongst the couches but the patio. “Hey man.” Javy says, nodding his head up in greeting as he sees me approaching. “What's up guys?” I smile and we all greet each other. I opt to take a seat looking towards the ocean. Admiring the late afternoon sun taking a sip of the chilled beer Penny graced me with. “Rooster! Have you met Penny's new neighbor yet?” Payback says. Glancing over at him, I gave him a questioning look. Penny's previous neighbor had decided to relocate to Florida in retirement and the house had been for sale for a couple months. It was a two bedroom with a wraparound porch that had an open space with a garden out back. “The new owners are already in?” I questioned. “Yeah she’s a family friend of Penny's. Known her since she was a kid. Said she was looking for a change and decided to make the move when Penny mentioned the house next door was up for sale.” Payback explained to me lounging back on the couch. Bob agrees and says “She came over about an hour ago. Penny introduced us and she seems like a total sweetheart.”
“I think Phoenix has made her her new best friend already.” Coyote states as he looks over where she and the woman stood. I blink at them “That’s Penny's new neighbor?”
“Yeah. Jakes already tried to sweet talk her, I think that’s when Phoenix swooped in to save her.” Payback laughs. Looking back over to the spot where they stand, I notice she looks slightly younger than the rest of us, maybe in her late 20’s. She’s wearing loose airy pants with a long sleeve cream top that cuts low on her chest.
Shaking my thoughts, I hear Penny call my name and when I look over my shoulder to the back porch I see her wave me over. She’s holding out two drinks signaling me to take them from her when she says “Rooster, would you be ever so kind to deliver these to the two lovely ladies over there?” nodding her head over towards where Phoenix is standing. “I said I'd grab them some drinks but Amelia just called me saying she was ready to be picked up from her friends.” Taking the drinks from her hands I reply. “Yeah of course, Pen.”
“Thanks, honey.” giving me a small smirk. I look over briefly toward the two when Penny’s voice makes me snap my head back towards her. “She’s a family friend of mine. She's been looking for a reason to move back here for a while now and when I told her about next door being for sale, she took the chance and got it.'' Penny smiles.“Make her feel welcome for me, I know you guys can be a lot when you're all together.” she laughs. I give her a nod in agreement and start to make my way over to where the girls stand.
When I'm close enough for them to see me coming over they both turn their heads, pausing their conversation. “Bradshaw! didn’t think you were going to make it.” Phoenix jokes. Grinning, I reply “You know me, always want to surprise everyone.” Phoenix shakes her head, chuckling and turns towards her new friend saying, “This is why I'm excited to have another girl to hangout with!.”
Turning towards her to see her eyes already looking back at me, I extended the drinks out to them. “Drinks, courtesy of Penny.” I smile. Taking the drinks out of my hands I'm met with a gracious ‘Thank you’.
“Bradshaw, this is Penny's new neighbor and long time family friend.” Phoenix says. She gestures to shake my hand and I slot mine into hers. “Hi, I'm bradley. It’s nice to meet you.” She greets me with her name and shakes my hand. “Nice to meet you too, Bradley.”
“When did you move in? I've been helping out around her this week and I've not seen any movers.” I say.“Oh no, I had movers bring all my things a couple weeks ago. I officially moved in last night. Penny was a total gem to pick me up from the airport and then she and Mav took me out for dinner.” Smiling at me she explains. “I just have the fun task of unpacking now that I'm here.”
“Well if you need any help with that, I'm happy to offer my services.” She giggles at my offer looking down and back up to meet my eyes again. “That's very kind of you to offer. Penny mentioned that she had help with the backyard from a Bradley. I'm assuming that Bradley is you?” she smirks. Flashing her a grin of my own “You’d be correct.” I say. “She'd mentioned a few times about wanting to make it feel more welcoming so she could have people over and for there to be places for everyone to sit so Mav and I offered to help out.”
“Well it looks like you did a good job, it’s gorgeous out here.” She says, glancing around slightly.
The three of us made small talk for a while when she excused herself to go to the bathroom. Whilst I tried not to watch her walk away my eyes scanned her figure as she took the path back up to the house. As she made it to the sliding door, Jake was just about to walk out but paused upon seeing her about to enter through the door. Putting on his best charming smile, he stepped to the side motioning with his hand for her to come in first to which I could see her nod a ‘thank you’ to him back. Jake says something to her in passing as he walks back outside and she giggles at whatever he’d said. Walking further into the house she disappears behind the kitchen wall and I see Jake proudly smirking to himself before joining the others settled on the couches.
I turned back to Phoenix who was now grinning ear to ear.
“What's that look for?.” I questioned her. “You seemed to have taken a liking to her.” she teases. Rolling my eyes at her, I shake my head and let out a quiet laugh. Phoenix has been one of my closest friends since the start of my career, being in the same class as her when we first started out. We grew a great friendship over the years and I know I can trust her with anything and everything. With that being said she always knows how to wind me up. “Remind me why I'm friends with you again.” I tease. She shoves my arm and laughs again when we’re taken back by a loud gasp.
Turning around I see that she’d returned from the bathroom and is now standing next to the couches looking at Amelia who is about to launch herself at her in a hug. She stumbles back a little when they make contact but chuckles at the smaller girl, embracing her in her arms. “Amelia, let her breathe!” Penny exclaims at her daughter. Everyone is smiling fondly at the pair and Phoenix and I make our way up the path to joining the rest of the group.
“I am so happy you’re here Daisy!” Amelia squeals, still squeezing her in a tight hug. “Me too!” she said, noticing she closed her eyes for a moment. “Amelia, as lovely as I know you’re trying to be, Dais isn’t going anywhere so you don’t have to hug her like she’s going to disappear.” Penny says while Mav agrees next to her, chuckling. She releases her hold on Amelia and says, “Miss Amelia, you need to stop getting so tall!”
They both walk up to where Penny is standing while Phoenix and I do the same. “Dais, did you see the flower arrangement in the kitchen? I convinced mom to let me try this time and I think I did a pretty good job!” Amelia beams. “I didn't! want to show me now?” she says to the younger girl. She doesn’t get a response, only a hand pulling hers through the sliding doors.
“Is Daisy a middle name?” I asked Penny, noticing that both her and Amelia had been calling her Daisy and not the name she’d introduced herself to me as. Penny turns to me and says “Oh, no it’s a nickname. Growing up she was obsessed with flowers! Planting them, drawing them and making little flower arrangements from the ones in her backyard. When her mom let her decorate her room after they moved, she wanted everything to have flowers on it.” she smiles as she’s telling me. “One day we were at the beach with her mom and a few others, she started naming everyone after flowers. She must have been about six or seven. When everyone had a flower assigned to them she asked us to give her one and from that day forward, the nickname kind of just stuck and nearly everyone knows her by Daisy.” The look on Penny's face told me that it was a memory she keeps close to her heart.
Glancing through the doors I could see Daisy and Amelia chatting by the kitchen island, in front of them a vase of beautiful flowers. Watching her smile light up every time she pointed to a new flower and started talking to Amelia, who was listening intently to what she was saying.
Breaking my eyeline on the two of them, Mav walks over in front of me and says to us, “How about starting the fire pit?”
“Sounds good to me.” Phoenix smiles looking at all of us in agreement.
The warm glow of the fire in front of us all sets a comfortable setting as everyone chats amongst themselves. Everyone has taken a seat in the surrounding couches with Bob to my left and Amelia to my right. Daisy’s on the single love seat next to Amelia who’s showing her something on her phone. “Wow, I wish I could play like that,” Daisy says. “I remember taking some lessons when I was in middle school but I'm not sure I'd be any good these days.” she giggled softly.
“We have a piano at the hard deck! Maybe next time we're both there you can see if you remember anything.” Amelia beams. Gaining my attention I look over to the girls next to me. “You know how to play?” I ask.
Meeting my eyes, Daisy smiles at me. “I wouldn't say I'm very good,” she laughs. “But I think I can remember the basics.”Amelia cuts in and looks between us. “Rooster plays the piano there all the time when he's with the group!”
“Really?” Daisy questions.
“Yeah, my dad used to play a lot when I was younger and I started taking lessons in high school.” I smile, thinking of the few memories I had back then with him.
“I’ll have to make sure I'm there next time you decide to play then.” she says, the corners of her mouth rising slightly. “Yeah,” I say with a grin. “Maybe then, you can show me what you know too.”
“I think we can arrange that.” Daisy agrees slowly with a smile gracing her face. Taking a long sip of my beer to hide my smirk, Amelia goes back to conversing with her and I lean black further on the couch and throw my arm on the back of it.
Daisy’s pov
Crossing my leg over the other, I look over to Penny who has just settled into the seat next to me with Mav on her other side. “Hey, Pen?” I say. She looks at me with the warm smile she always smiles and says “What’s up, Sweetheart?”
“I just want to say thank you again for your kindness these past few months.” i say.
“You know I would do anything for you. All I want is for you to be happy.” she says, wrapping her arm around my shoulder in a side hug, squeezing me softly. With everyone in their own conversations, I take the opportunity to look around at everyone. Feeling so welcome, it has felt like a breath of fresh air and the nervousness that I felt walking in today has practically disappeared. Excited to finally start this new chapter in my life, back in the place I grew up in. I bring my hand up to Penny’s, squeeze it lightly and say “It's good to be home.”
