ZATOICHI THE OUTLAW (1967)

The 16th film in the original 26-film series, and the second of three released in 1967. This was also the first Zatoichi film produced by star Shintaro Katsu's newly formed production company, aptly named Katsu Productions.

This time around, Ichi meets a wordless ronin who battles his opponents without killing them. The ronin, based on a historical figure, is sort of an Edo-era hippie, advocating a peaceful, communal life with people abstaining from gambling. drinking, and visiting prostitutes.

That makes the local yakuza, led by Boss Asagoro, angry because they make the bulk of their money from those activities. They try to take their anger out on the ronin and his many followers, which is where Ichi and his fighting skills get involved.

主題　主人公の侍が、参勤交代の為、家を留守にしている間に、美人の妻が鼓師の男と関係を持ってしまった物語

１発端

主人公が参勤交代を終え、久しぶりに帰宅。しかし、街では、妻のたねが、別の男と関係を持ったと噂が広がっていた。主人公は、妻に尋ねても、何もないという。

伏線：縁側で、主人公が、たねに酒を勧めるも、間違いがあってはいけないと、断る。

家族会議が開かれ、家にいた女たちに、何があったか男衆が聞き取る。羅生門形式

３、解決

たねが、全てを白状する。タネは、切腹しようとするもできず、夫である主人公が、たねを斬る。その後、主人公他、子の文六等、家族全員で、京都の鼓師のところに敵討ちに行く。

橋本忍　回想について

進行方向の、ドラマの進んでいることを書くんだったら、それは回想ではないというのが僕の考え。回想というのは、シナリオライター全部嫌がるの、監督も嫌だしね。映画になって、逆効果しかではないわけ。なぜっていうと回想というと、進んでいく方向でなく、バックすることなんだよね。生理的に、映画の手法としては損な手法だよ。

だから、みんな嫌がるし、やりたくないんだけどね、でも、話の進行方向に進む回想だったら、回想じゃないんじゃないかというのが、僕の考え。だから、何回で手きても構わない。
