Okay, so I just rewarched S1 Ep1, and as a paralegal, I gotta drop some truths.

Harvey bluffing his client, while technically a disbarable offense, wouldn't have gotten him disbarred, and here's why.

The entire basis of contract law is that everyone gets something, but no one gets everything. As long as people walk away satisfied, even if they're not completely happy, it's considered a successful deal. It's also the general basis for successful arbitration and mediation, which is why mandatory mediation is now a part of almost every single contract you sign these days.

Anyway, what Harvey's client was trying to do was renig on terms he'd already agreed to. Which is bad faith. What Harvey did was protect his client and his firm.

All he would have had to do was stand in front of the board and say look, the client was trying to renegotiate in bad faith. I was trying to save him from excessive legal fees, and liability, and save our firm from liability.

Because let's be real, Harvey being forced to log more hours on this deal would have only increased the firms billable for that quarter, but it would have created extra cost that could have been avoided for his client, and Harvey has an obligation to do everything he can to mitigate those extra fees.

Clients may say they don't care about the expense, they're lying, they care, trust me, LOL. As someone who spends at least half a day every month writing off blocks of time on bills, they give all the shits.

But honestly, once Mike showed up, and they started crossing lines, yeah, most of that probably would have gotten him disbarred, but more likely sanctioned, suspended, and fined, but disbarment would have been on the table. Lawyers hate suing each other. In fact, I've worked for several who just flat out won't do it, and the only thing they hate more is disbarring one.

Being disbarred is actually very difficult and usually needs to involve stealing client money or being so completely fraudulent that no reasonable explanation could be had. Unless you're convicted of a felony and well, then, all bets are off.

Also, I just watched the last episode in S7, and after bawling for a dozen hours over Harvey and Mike, honestly, Jessica really is in over her head in Chicago. She doesn't understand how Chicago works. She thinks it's like any other city with corruption, but as someone from IL, I can tell you, it's DIFFERENT, and there's just no way to explain it to an outsider. Thranduil of course, did not let fear show behind those icy grey eyes. They literally just fucked some hours ago ( his perception of time was lost from the impromptu nap ) so he rather hoped this wasn't some ruse of the monster to renig on their deal. Both sides were even now so if anything, this had better been some ghastly attempt at asking for seconds ( which was NEVER going to happen ).

14) Describe your feelings on Disney’s animated film catalogue (and/or Pixar as a separate studio and as a conglomerate of the Disney corporation)

As much as I despise Disney as a company, I can't deny that their films were a huge part of my childhood as well as a major player in developing my undying love for the art of animation. I'm mostly talking about their older, 2D films, as their 3D films I grew up with really never stuck w/ me as closely and I admittedly haven't even a new film from them since Zootopia back in 2016

With Pixar my feelings aren't quite as complicated. Their 90's and 2000's output still remain some of my favorite 3D animated films of all time (except Cars simply because it never really make me feel anything for it, good or bad). Yet after Up came out and they were forced to do a bunch of sequels after being bought out by Disney I stopped caring about their film output, especially since their style of 3D animation became homogenized to the point where it looked no different from a Disney film. I could rant about this further but I don't wanna turn this into an essay...

Anyway, here's a list of my favorite Disney films in no particular order: Alice in Wonderland, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mulan, Robin Hood, Fantasia, The Lion King 1 & 2

And here are my favorite Pixar films also in no particular order: The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., A Bug's Life, Toy Story 1 & 2, Finding Nemo, WALL-E (though I will admit as of late I feel this film has a few serious issues that hampers my enjoyment of it)

There are dozens upon dozens of animated films I think should be in the Criterion Collection because quite frankly their animation catalogue is still a sad joke

Like I'm glad that there's at least more than 3 films inducted into the collection now. I'm glad that they have recognized Lotte Reniger's and Suzan Pit's work as well as many animated works outside of America, England, and France. But good gods they're still SO MUCH that deserve to be in there!

Where the hell is Akira, one of the most influential anime of all time?

If Watership Down is (rightfully) in there than why not also The Plague Dogs, an equally beloved adaptation of Richard Adam's work?

Caroline Leaf was one of the pioneering filmmakers for Canada's National Film Board, so why aren't her animated masterpieces featured in here?

How come none of Yuri Norstein's films aren't on there despite being one of Hayao Miyazaki's greatest influences and the fact that Tale of Tales is still considered by many to be the greatest animated short film ever made?

I mean fuck where's Princess Mononoke or ANY Ghibli film for that matter?!

(Also for those curious the only Disney/Pixar film in their collection is WALL-E, and it's one of the seven animated films that are available in their dvd/blu-ray collection..)

It's just so depressing to me because many people still consider the collection to be a stronghold for the some of the most important works of film ever made. The fact that so little animation is featured on there feeds into the lie that mature, thoughtfully made animated films are a rare find, as well as the idea that animation as a medium is inherently less valuable than live action films, and that pisses me off to no end >:(

A rebellion was already brewing because people had been pushed so hard- it just needed something to rally around— so Katniss, this little slip of a girl who is showing such bravery and defiance by volunteering immediately gathers interest from the poor districts- and her defiance continues as they go in on fire to the arena (we’re not about what we produce for the capital- we’re so much more than that!) - and then forbidden lovers entices people (probably the capital even more so than the districts) so the injustice of it all really settles in for people —- these two kids in love, one of which is SO brave for her sister, the other SO sacrificing for a girl he loves— their lives are being out at risk for NO REASON. Then she also humanizes Rue for them by having two districts working together, not to kill and maim, but teasing and giggling and being adorable little girls trying to survive- then she gives Rue a dignified beautiful funeral- so now they have District 11 frothing about it. Then finally, after being told Katniss and Peeta could be together the capital renigs in their promise and they are about to kill themselves rather than let themselves become monsters - and that’s it—

They are HUMAN and have PROVEN you can wriggle outside of the rules the capital puts down- and that’s what sparks it- if these kids can do it- so can we!

She somehow kept this emotion of “i’m going to get my comeuppance” but what she’s doing to you is a REAL extreme version of it. It’s extreme, and imbued with negativity. It’s imbued with an intense negativity that you in the original scenario didn't have.you were like marie antoinette, she wasn’t very awakened and aware and conscious. She was also a part of a system, and so were the 2 of you. Part of a system, a corrupt system. You could have handled things better, you probably didn’t handle things in the best way but in the consciousness you had at that time, it’s like the consciousness and the society that you’re in was very different from our society now. Even in the last 20 years, people used to say disparaging things about gay people all the time and then we had a conscious awakening where society is now like “that’s not cool” so we look back at jokes we made like 20 years ago and it doesn’t sit well. The society was different then, not that it was right. You have to look at it in context. You lived in a society where slavery was acceptable, you had a slave, you owned him, you got to make the decisions for him, he’s like a child in that you didn’t really owe him anything, and if you tell the child you’re taking him out for ice cream and then change your mind….you didn’t really have a consciousness of his humanity & autonomy. Normally 2 people who are in that experience go back and do the life review and go “Oh! We can do this better next time”

Instead, young soul that she is , she’s like I have to learn a lesson, really what it is is her soul’s consciousness “I need to learn a lesson” and to wake and expand her. So you’ve come back many many times, she’s come back fewer times, and here we are again. Instead o going “hey we can do this better, i can come back with the money, and i can treat you with respect that you didn’t treat me with” she’s like, “No. I’m gonna do the negative thing. “Now the negative thing is her choice, it’s like her will and her choice to be negative. PLL: well she’s already doing her own mirror work creating that disease for herself. She digging her own hole bigtime. You know it’s funny because The guides tell me that everything that happens you have a way of retrieving gifts and benefits even the most horrific traumatic awful thing we can seek the gift in it.
