Something I really enjoy while re-reading OHSHC volume 1 is how the suggestions Renge makes to deepen Tamaki and the twins’ “characters” actually end up being facets of the characters and core to their arcs. Tamaki is someone whose persona hides his issues and sadness. The twins do struggle to exist as individual people. But at this point in the story the characters are so far from being able to address and acknowledge these issues in their lives that the truth to Renge’s suggestions doesn’t even register.
