are you named after anyone? Nope, my parents wanted to name me an uncommon but then sort of common name so that’s why they chose Cleo :)

when was the last time you cried? Last week, because my friends cracked me up so hard I started to cry

do you have kids? No, but when I’m older I’d love to have some kids

do you use sarcasm a lot? Not a lot, but I do use it

what sports do you play/have you played? When I was like 8, I played soccer, basketball, netball, swam and rode horses and was apart of the X-country team. I think it’s just because my family is all very sports-centric (I guess it’s because we’re aussies hehe). Now I only play netball, swim and ride horses. I do miss running though!

what’s the first thing you notice about other people? Their mannerisms!

eye colour? Brown!

scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings all the way!

any special talents? I don’t think I have any

what are your hobbies? I love to read, especially romance books! I also play the piano and flute.

do you have any pets? I have a dog, 2 cats and a horse called Sombra

THIS, all of this! Its so well put.

I am guilty of starting a copy-paste fake British Royal Family story, but that doesn’t mean you can’t change that. Don’t be afriad to change things up or add things after a while. Its your story do what you want. When I first started my story it was originally based on the british royalty, which is very white & christian, but eventually I realized that it is my world and I am the creator of it. You are not restricted to the template.

I have changed a lot from the beginning of my story, Polyamorus marriages are legal and weidly practiced, the main religion of the country is Judaism, background countries aren’t inspired by a singualr irl country, and theres a lot more that I have added. Just because you have already started you story doesn’t mean you can’t add things now.

Also I just want to take a moment to show off these very amazing royal simblr authors @bridgeportbritt​ @funkyllama​ @warwickroyals​ (while her story isn’t only poc she has a very interesting story that is a commentary on white royals) @simabloom​ (a newer story with only a couple posts here on tumblr, but has more on instagram: here) @havenroyals​ @renaldiroyals​ @hrhhouseofjackson​ and obviously @nexility-sims​. (I know I am rebloging her post, but she deserves the @)

TLDR: Don’t be afraid to add diversity and diverse culture even if you have already started your story.

what's something you'd like to see more of on royal simblr?

the timing of this was brilliant, actually, because i had been thinking for several days that i would like to make some sort of entirely uncalled for, roughly edited psa post about What I Think Royal Simblr Needs To Prioritize More :^) anyway, you also touched on this in your own answer, so it’s an echo of that too :^) it's very long, but i had a lot to say about the topic i've chosen. i should also preface by saying that it's not meant as a blanket negative statement or even an objective prescription; it's just based on my own observation and anecdotal experience.

in short, royal simblr needs more cultural diversity !

there are two big reasons why i feel this way: one, the entire premise is suspect because it so easily verges into uncritically reproducing and whitewashing an awful institution; and two, cultural diversity is actually more engaging and interesting than a community that feels monocultural (esp when said culture is a hegemonic colonial product whose dominance is based on plunder, oppression, and destruction of both entire peoples and the planet itself).

personally, i want to be part of a community where folks are 1) actively curious about the wider world and its cultures and 2) comfortable incorporating their own cultures in their stories. it’s true that the bias is perhaps partly because many royalty references in the real world may not have great english sources for a predominantly english-speaking community to use. but, i don’t think that’s a get-out-of-jail-free card. i am absolutely not a person who likes to consciously write myself into my stories, to be clear. that being said, i do ask myself, “what experiences or knowledge do i have that deserve representation?” we write our stories for ourselves but, frankly, i would venture many of us have internalized messages that make us devalue our own backgrounds or doubt others will be interested in content outside of the often white, often western mainstream. in my experience, the royal simblr community places high value on researching and replicating the norms of contemporary western european royalty—particularly the british royal family. the truth is that same care and respect could be put into other histories and perspectives, if the motivation existed to do so.

so, another approach, beyond drawing on your own experiences, is doing the research to respectfully depict or be inspired by a culture that isn't your own. the onus for representation cannot be squarely on the most marginalized of us, even if we'd likely produce the best version of it. if i had chosen to write a story about a fake british royal family, i'd have felt guilty about not writing a story full of brown people from the americas; that representation wouldn't really exist if i wasn't making it for myself. consequently, culture shifts require everyone to do their part, whether as creators, collaborators, or readers. i'd also venture that most of us appreciate when outsiders believe our cultures are valuable and beautiful—when they want to know or experience our clothing, food, and music in ways that are not fetishizing, exploitative, or appropriating. that's part of why tumblr is filled with guides and tutorials to writing characters from all walks of life, from ethnicity to disability to gender; the resources exist, and people want to see them used. it doesn't even have to be your entire story ! individual characters or plot lines can give good representation if you make that a priority.

in my own story, i've blended the two approaches. i think about my own, my family's, and my friends' experiences of indigeneity in what's currently the united states; i've also blended it with my interests in iberian and latin american histories, especially indigenous mexico, among other elements closer to u.s. history. my story isn't a direct replica of any real world place or people, but the culture is based on imagination, research, and feedback. if someone has a critique or feels offended for whatever reason, i want to be humble enough to accept it and make changes. one of the amazing things about this corner of tumblr is that our community loves to help others. learning in public—experimenting, sharing parts of yourself, being creative—is never easy, but it's easier to do when you're part of a community that offers grace and encouragement. my opinion is also that people are more willing to share their expertise and welcome your work if you demonstrate, not just good intentions, but that you've done your homework to the best of your ability.

i want to be clear, too: there's a place for storytelling as conscious critique of the institution, and there are storytellers in this community whose cultures happen to be the ones that are overrepresented. this isn't an indictment of the good stories and good fun people are having. i'm just taking this as an opportunity to offer constructive criticism and give people the encouragement or permission to try something different. why not use your creativity to incorporate other sources of inspiration—or to imagine a different and better world, even?

at the end of the day, everyone can do whatever they want with their hobbies. we can't all be doing social justice on simblr dot com and, frankly, probably shouldn't be ! it is nonetheless true that some of us don't get to enjoy our hobbies uncritically. we can't log onto tumblr and scroll through sims stories and be blissfully unaware of the politics of representation. "royalty" doesn't just connote pretty tiaras and fancy titles for all of us. people who are marginalized in the real world are part of this community. its representation signals to us how welcome we and the stories we have to tell really are.

most or all of us are imagining our countries to be part of the same fictional world. it's just my personal opinion, but i don’t think that world should be mostly fake europe plus specifically the settler colonial parts of fake non-europe. my challenge to everyone would be to think about whether your story could or should meaningfully contribute to a fuller, more realistic representation of the world we've created as a collective within this community.

The foreign royals arrive to the Charleston Palace!

The foreign royals attending HRH Crown Princess Victoria’s 18th birthday ball have arrived.

At first we have HRH Crown Princess Norah of Alexandra (@theroyalstale​). HRH Norah chose to wear a beautiful plum colored dress for the event. The HRH represented alone with her husband Prince Consort Roy sadly being unable to attend. It’s HRH Norah’s first time visiting Charleston.

The next people to arrive are newly the crowned Tsaritsa of Viz, Natalia Alianova Roma, and her husband Prince Consort Dmitri Ivanov. Charleston has had very close relations with Viz for years with it’s royalty visiting one another often.

Up next is HRH Princess Charlene Renaldi of Sandor (@renaldiroyals​) Princess Charlene looked fabulous and elegant in her yellow gown. It’s the HRH’s first time visiting Charleston.

Then we have Princess Anna-Sofia of Nord. She just recently recovered from leukemia and was looking livelier and healthier than in years. With just 17 years of age she was one of the youngest guests.

Following Princess Sofia are Emperor Delrico and Empress Felicine Glorkiv of the Salix Empire. Salix is a micro kingdom located within the borders of Rionnag.

And arriving from Rionnag are Prince Artair and Princess Anaya Ó Mordha. (Rionnag & Salix families by my friend MagsTheMage on the sims gallery)

The last to arrive are the only non royals of the evening, President and First Son of Eulmore, Alistar and Benjamin Holland. Benjamin was spotted with HRH Victoria a few weeks ago. FSOE just turned 19 two weeks prior. The Royal Family of Burton (@theroyalfamilyofburton​) also send their regards to the HRH even though no one from the family could attend the event due to unseen scheduling conflicts.

Sandorian Royals Attend Royal Opera

The King and Queen of Sandor, together with Crown Princess Charléne and most of the Royal family visited the Royal Opera to see the opening performance of “Giselle” directed by Jean-Philippe Rousseau.

The royal procession arrived directly into a side street beside the opera, where the Royal Family has its own entrance with the Duke and Duchess of Durban arriving first and Their Majesties arriving last then leading the family to the Royal Box in their finery.

The Crown Princess opted for the Queen Josephine bandeau and diamond earring; both gifts from her parents from her 16th birthday whilst Princess Jacqueline borrowed the Armagnac Diamond Bandeau Tiara from the Royal vault.

In accordance to tradition, the Royal Anthem was sung before the performance began, which is common every time a member of the Royal Family participates in the royal opera. During the intermission, the royals took time to speak to singers, composers, conductors and crews as well as the opera’s managing director and opera director.

Behind the scenes: An important phone call

Victoria: Honestly Charlene, I’m so nervous. Sometimes I even wonder if I want this wedding to happen.

Charlene: Viccan it’s your wedding, being nervous is completely normal. And you don’t have to worry about things going smoothly cause lucky for you, you were born a princess so there’s going to be a bunch of other people all over making sure everything does. All you have to do is focus on being the bride. Plus didn’t you just tell me last week how exited you are to marry him.

Victoria: Yeah, you’re right. Speaking of, would you be my maid of honor? I can’t think of anyone else I’d rather have.

Charlene: Are you serious? Victoria: 100% Charlene: Then of course I’ll be your maid of honor! Wait what do you want me to wear? Victoria: I’m thinking something peach... (Thank you so much @renaldiroyals​ for letting Charlene be Victoria’s maid of honor! It’s an honor to work with you)

Duke of Berkhamstead Honoured In Intimate Ceremony At Leesburg Palace

Ahead of the 7th anniversary of the Vouvant Attacks which claimed the lives of 51 civilians and the kidnapping of Crown Princess Charléne, HM King Henri honoured selected members of the armed forces and their families in an investiture ceremony and luncheon at the Palace.

The Duke of Berkhamstead was among those honoured in this year’s naval ceremony with the Croix de Guerre; an award given for bravery, acts of valour, self sacrifice, or extraordinary dedication to duty for his work to bring down the network of criminals responsible for the tragedy.

The award also came with a promotion from Captain to Lieutenant Commander making him the only living aristocrat to receive the honour and serve at the highest levels of the Royal Navy.

The Crown Princess was in attendance at the event in her role as Admiral of the Fleet in a Caroline Hemingway dress costing over §2,000 and custom pearl earrings (price unknown) which are believed to be a new gift from the Duke.

The exes have been pictured together in the tabloids on several occasions over the summer season and are believed to have grown a very close friendship since the Princess’s return home last winter.

The Duke’s daughter; Lady Aurélie of Berkhamstead with whom the Duke shares with his soon to be ex-wife Pauline was also present whilst the Duchess was pictured boarding a yacht earlier in the day in Saint-Tropez with friends.

Princes Louis and Thierry were not present at the ceremony but are expected along with the rest of the Royal family at the church service later this season.

Breaking News!

A gunshot has been heard at the Education For All (EFA) event at the 6th President Terry Doughty’s house. The event is supposed to bring up recent issues as a study showed almost 80% of young people do not progress into further education for many reasons e.g. low household income and unavailable support. 

Yet this event was cut short after First Man Norman Kaminski announced Second Lady Pamela Cronin to the podium and then the gunshot was heard. The sound came from the left out-building at the window and the bullet hit the back wall of the house. Nobody was hurt but all the guests on the garden were evacuated safely. @simaliaroyals​ and @renaldiroyals​ were both taken back into the house and evacuated from a back door to their cars and taken straight to the airport. Norman and Pamela have yet to be seen but many are predicting the pair were taken into an underground bunker as all former president houses had one. If the event wasn’t shortened it would’ve involved a grand dinner and a beautiful themed dance. 

Everyone in the News Studio pray that the pair are alright and escaped unharmed. Thank you for reading and God Bless Cascadia!

Are you named after anyone?

Bria: Nope. My parents just liked the name Bria. I don't even have a middle name.

Diana: My middle name is Ophelia which was my grandmother's name.

When was the last time you cried?

Bria: I seem to be doing a lot of that these days...

Diana: I've been crying a lot more lately thanks to hormones, but nothing I can't handle.

Do you have kids?

Bria: Yes. My four babies keep me going.

Diana: Yes, a beautiful baby boy named Parker and one on the way.

Do you use sarcasm?

Bria: Not really unless I'm frustrated.

Diana: No.

What's the first thing you notice about people?

Bria: As a... former stylist, I always notice the outfit first. People tell you a lot about them by the clothes they wear.

Diana: I notice their eyes and smile.

What's your eye color?

Bria: Dark Brown.

Diana: I have a hazel eye color that runs in the family.

Scary movies or happy endings?

Bria: I love a good happy ending. I don't care much for scary movies.

Diana: Definitely a happy ending, but if the story is good, I'd watch the scary movie with my eyes closed.

Any special talents?

Bria: Most people don't know that I'm a pretty good painter. As a fashion designer, making sketches of your ideas is important. That's where it all started.

Diana: I used to take piano, violin, and even harp lessons. I wouldn't say I'm talented, but with some practice, I might be able to recall some things.

Where were you born?

Bria: San Myshuno, Simerica.

Diana: Sage, SimDonia.

What are your hobbies?

Bria: I really only have time for my kids, but when I'm traveling without them, I might go shopping. I also love working out.

Diana: Mainly reading. I used to ride horses before we got rid of the stables. I've been thinking of taking it up again.

Bria: Well, my sons cat is living with us while here's here, but I'm not a pet person, so he'll be leaving with Grayson.

Diana: No, but I'm open to one. Maybe Parker will one day beg for a puppy.

Bria: No, sports but I do like watching Kingball.

It's Official, We Have A Duke and Duchess of Bourbon-Orleans!

After a beautiful wedding and parade, the Royal Wedding concluded with a banquet hosted at the National Palace by the newly created Duke and Duchess of Bourbon-Orleans, as a thank you to their foreign wedding guests.

The ten (10) foreign royals were treated to a brief tour of The King's Gallery, which features over 1000 pieces curated over the nation’s history.

Following the media-free banquet, the royals posed in the palace’s throne room, commissioned by King Frederick over 200 years ago. The gorgeous photo shared show a night of diamonds and jewels as the royals celebrated the Crown Prince’s wedding.
