Remus Lupin was some sort of a mystery, she knew little about him, much about his relationship with her cousin, and she wasn’t usually one to pry, but tonight she felt like she needed to know more about the man that share the bed with Sirius. 

Sirius could be emotionally stunned, driven mad by love, extremely loyal, and that meant only one thing: he loved fast and his heart was always on his sleeve. Andromeda just wanted to make sure that, even if she was supportive, she wasn’t going to allow Sirius to be heartbroken. She had left once, she wasn’t failing Sirius again. 

“Mr Lupin,” she greeted, moving a bit closer to him to be heard, but not for everyone else to hear them, “Enjoying the party?”

Remus Lupin. One of the four young guys that had caused quite some trouble when Rosmerta had started working at the Three Broomsticks years ago. Although she knew that it was mostly Black and Potter who were causing the trouble mostly. Lupin seemed to be the responsible one out of the four. She placed the drink in front of him that he had ordered and looked at him. “It must have been quite some time since I saw you last here in Hogsmeade. I hope you’ve been staying out of trouble since leaving Hogwarts.”

When: Early Morning Where: 12 Grimmauld Place, Kitchen Who: Regulus & @woofhaunted

Regulus had heard an unusual amount of movement throughout the evening while he was trying to sleep. He did still spend most of his days within the walls of 12 Grimmauld Place, but he wasn't about to let his sleep schedule take a toll simply because he was in the house. He still woke up earlier than most, and was always the first to bed, no matter how many people were around. Of course he'd allow himself to sleep in or stay up late on occasion, but Regulus liked his sleep. So when he was woken up in the middle of the night from laughter and the sounds of furniture being scraped across the expensive floorboards, he was not impressed.

He wandered downstairs and into the kitchen, not expecting to see anybody, but especially not Remus Lupin sitting at the table. Regulus sighed, rubbing his eyes and running a hand through his hair as he made his way over to the already prepared coffee. "You must be the reason I was disturbed in the middle of the night. Don't you have your own place to live?" He asked, not with any ill-intentions, though he was aware he sounded snappier than usual before having his morning coffee.

People were surprised to find out when Daisy and Remus started dating all those months ago. They seemed like a pair of opposites. Remus was very secretive and Daisy put everything on the table. Daisy was super outgoing while Remus was more reserved and held close to only his close circle. Why would they be together? Answer: there was attraction. It was a physical attraction but, moreover, they respected each other and there was an attraction to who they were as people.

They had a lot of fun together and tender moments. Daisy loved the attention he gave her and always hoped he loved how she doted upon him. Daisy was enamored by who he was as a person. She could learn a thing or two from him and she did. But as time went on some things began to shift. His life became even more secretive. Daisy would ask questions around the same time each month -- even if they were only together four months. Suddenly Remus put the brakes on their relationship and ran leaving Daisy in the dust. She was hurt. Her heart broke and her brain couldn't understand what he could hide from her that she couldn't handle. She spent nights crying. She and Remus didn't have enough time together -- that's probably what hurt the most. She expected more and got less.

The past three months had been a healing process but she was getting better. Her heart still ached when people talked about him, but she was open to creating new relationships as long as they were slow. Daisy didn't think she could handle something intense right away but knew she had to move on.

One morning before work Daisy stopped in to Rosa Lee Teabag's for a tea and croissant to start her day. All of a sudden she heard a familiar voice and her stomach dropped. It was Remus. She wasn't sure if she should turn around but she couldn't stop herself. As she waited for her tea she turned slowly and saw him standing there.

All she could do was blink and choked out an inaudible, "Hi."

Daisy's house wasn't overly large, and yet the pair of them had gotten separated quite quickly as guests started arriving. It wasn't an issue, everybody that was attending was a friend, and he could always go and find her whenever he wanted to. He figured he'd let her have some time to herself, and decided to roll a joint. He'd been rolling for years now and was able to make a perfect joint in a matter of seconds. Looking around, Tilden spotted Remus sitting on the sofa, and he plopped himself down beside him. "Hey Remus!" He greeted, throwing his arm around the other's shoulders, "Are you enjoying yourself? Gonna smoke a joint with me?" @woofhaunted

Ela's dark eyes followed the wand until it was fully lowered and it was only then that a kept breath was released. "I'm happy that you won't hurt me. But even though these times are rough, you need to relax a bit, Remus." Maybe relaxing was one of the most dangerous things to do these days, but if you didn't... You weren't going to survive these days anyways. You would go insane. Or at least, that was what Ela felt like.

"Thank you. If you wait for me to return, we could leave together?" She offered him. It didn't really sound that bad to have some company on her way home. Although apparating made life a lot easier in that regards.

"I believe the war has us all on edge. And that is very understandable; they are uncertain times. But you have to believe that we are all getting through this. If not, then times will only be getting darker." And they were already way too dark in her opinion. She had a son, she could not afford to sit down and give up.

Ela entered the store so she could quickly retrieve her bag before returning back out. "I can't believe I forgot this one. I have it with me everywhere. I only realised when Oliver was inconsolable when going to bed because his favourite plushie was nowhere to be found," she explained to the man with her, making a stuffed toy in the shape of a Niffler appear.

“So sorry, Ela. You never quite know who will come up behind you these days,” he said as he lowered his wand. “I’d like to say it won’t happen again but I get a little jumpy. I swear I won’t hurt you though,” he forced a smile. “I wish it didn’t seem necessary in my head. Maybe someday soon.” He doubted that sentiment entirely but tried to be polite and positive. It seemed that that’s what she wanted.

Ela was a good worker. He appreciated the times their shifts overlapped. There was something about her that he couldn’t put his finger on but that was okay. He really wasn’t going to hurt her. That part was true.

“I can open the store for you,” he said, turning back around with the keys in his hand and turning the lock. As he opened the door he answered her question. “The war has me on edge,” he replied honestly. “There’s too much uncertainty. It’s finding it’s way under my skin.”

Though the young halfblood had felt his presence before, there was never a moment that allowed her to put a name to the face to the feeling— so to speak. Entrances and portals was where the spark first showed itself before it quickly disappeared again, but Sylvie could never have known that something beyond her understanding was at work and ripping itself through spaces that she was hunting. “The amaryllis makes for a beautiful centerpiece,” she stated as feet made their way to the stranger, bits of the feeling slightly amplifying as her hues glanced to the brightness of the red flower that was accompanied by several other winter breeds, “unless you are looking for something more specific.” Which when it came to Thistle House, it was more than likely that those specific needs would be met. The vampire that called the shop theirs carried what Sylvie would refer to as a deep obsession for various types of flora, able to care for even some of the most exotic and delicate kinds.

Marlene thought for a moment longer than she usually did about anything. When was the last time she saw Remus on a broom? "Likely not since first year flying lessons. But you've got that weird brain of yours where everything has a sort of logical answer so I'm sure if you wanted to successfully fly a broom, you could." It was a compliment, the most kind of compliment that Marlene could give, anyway. Remus was quite logical, and that was something she'd always been envious of. "D'you think James and I haven't already had a million flying competitions between the two of us? C'mon, we were teammates for years."

Her eyes lit up at the mention of squeaky toys, and she laughed as she took off her backpack and opened it up. Marlene reached in a hand and pulled out a dog toy, now nearly falling over with how hard she was laughing. "We were playing catch…" She said between laughs, "Forgot to put this away."

He grinned as the cigarette was pointed at him. He was teasing and he loved that she was teasing him back. With his own he put it between his lips and chuckled. "And when was the last time you saw me on a broom? I prefer the ground. You want to fly go beat James." He lit up us own smoke as he listened. Ah that was a good place to be. He couldn't help the laugh that escaped his lips the moment the leash was mentioned. "Really got to bring the leash everywhere. Oh and the squeaky toys, those always get his attention." It was nice someone else knew about the form though. "I'm up with James this time. Though I think he's working currently."

oh ho ho get ready for an essay @in-love-with-remus-lupin!

001 | send me a ship and I will tell you:

when I started shipping it if I did: I don't know if there was ever a point that I didn't ship them. I always liked Remus and Tonks, but it was on a reread of the series as an adult that I latched onto them with such ferocity that it turned into an irresponsible amount of fanfic (I'm closing in on almost 2 million words on ao3, yikes). I liked them more than all other ships combined.

my thoughts: Thinking back to my pre-fanfic days (which was less than two years ago), Remadora was, to me, always a cute ship. I loved the idea of Remus Lupin, a certified sad man, finding love in the form of this bubbly, colorful witch. I loved the idea of Tonks, a badass Auror, getting a family of her own and an adorable little boy who was so like her. Post-fanfic days, there's so much more that I can say, simply out of having read different headcanons about them or seeing how Tonks and Remus were treated in the fandom. I was so shocked to see that Remus was shipped with Sirius at least 10x more frequently than with Tonks, and then the bashing of Tonks that resulted from the way she was written in canon (which admittedly wasn't great, so we Tonks stans have to do some lifting to give her what JKR didn't). Now obviously the book series is Harry Potter and the [insert magical atrocity here], not Remus and the [insert attempt to find love in all the wrong places here]. So from a standpoint of Harry, I know why Tonks was written the way she was, but from the perspective of for-the-love-of-all-that-is-holy JKR why did you do another terrible thing, Tonks had so much wasted potential. So post-fanfic days I see a much deeper, richer view of both of these characters, their ship, and how they relate to the world around them. It's only deepened my love for Remadora.

What makes me happy about them: Remus finally gets love, acceptance, and a family. Tonks gets an adorable little boy and a husband who finds the greatest happiness in his life from her and Teddy. Look at all that happy. LOOK AT IT.

What makes me sad about them: Canonically, their deaths. I will reverse it a thousand times in my fics, in a thousand different ways.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: Tonks bashing, to start. Any form of Tonks as an evil manipulator, as a stand-in for Sirius by morphing to look like him, as a pushy, pathetic loser who doesn't know how to accept a no, any degradation of her character from a misogynistic lens - all that annoys me. On Remus's end, him not caring about her, him not loving her, him using her as a stand-in for Sirius, him not really caring about his family, or his refusal of her interpreted as him not liking her. The simple matter is that Remus didn't want to date her because he loved her and wanted to give her a better life than he could give her. Tonks didn't care and wanted to give him the love she thought he deserved. Any ways in which they're written that they don't actually love each other is an immediate no from me.

things I look for in fanfic: Strong, badass Tonks. Yes, she's sad and upset during HBP, so give me more reasons than just Remus. Is it because Sirius died? Is it because she's stationed at Hogsmeade, which is glorified babysitting and not super action-y? Is it because the Death Eaters are out in the open and her parents (mother especially) are constantly worried for her? Give me a complex Tonks. For Remus, give me one who is capable of so much love and kindness, but is worried and dark too. The man was ready to kill Peter in front of Harry & co, with no impact on his conscience. Yes, Remus is a broken man, but he's got a dark side, so show it. For Remadora together, give me a good progression of their relationship. I don't really care how they start, whether friends to lovers or idiots to lovers, but I want to see the pining for each other, especially Remus's sad pathetic pining and inner conflict. Give me Tonks's bubbliness and happiness and Remus being attracted to her like a moth to flame, ready to die just to get close to her.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: They're my OTP, so they're always endgame for me. For Remus, I don't see any other romantic relationships. Maybe some trysts here and there, but I don't think he really fell in love with anyone until Tonks. For Tonks, I see some partners before Remus, but none that I see as endgame. For Tonks's patronus to change to Remus's, I think there had to be a big shift for her. I just can't see them not being together.

My happily ever after for them: They survive the Battle of Hogwarts and have a gaggle of little Lupins. In most stories I'll give them 2-4 kids. Remus goes back to teaching, Tonks goes back to being a badass Auror. It's not smooth sailing, of course. If you read my story, Cariad, you'll see how I break them apart to put them back together. They get a happily ever after but they really gotta earn it, lol.

who is the big spoon/little spoon: Tonks is the big spoon. Remus loves being the little spoon.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Hanging out as a family together. Remus getting to go anywhere with Tonks & Teddy (and other kids maybe) and just being a family. Remus adores them so so so so much. They're his everything, and Tonks loves seeing Remus so happy and fulfilled.

A sad expression showed on Marlene's face. It was just stupid - in her opinion - that it wasn't excepted. She had known Remus for years now and she knew the person behind the wolf. But everyone who first saw him, saw only the problem; he was going away for multiple days every month. She picked up her own Firewhiskey and looked at the coloured liquid inside it as she thought about what they could toast to. "How about... A toast to our shitty lives in the hope they get better?"

he'd been struggling ever since graduation to find a job, nowhere in the wizarding world wanting him due to the prejudices that were cast at werewolves. and while he was a more than capable wizard, he'd had to settle on below the line muggle jobs that barely kept him afloat. this current one was working at a janitor at a primary school, " same shit. not happy that i have to disappear for multiple days every month. " he said with a sigh, offering his friend a soft smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, freckled hand enclosing around the glass, " now the question is, marls . . . what on EARTH should we toast to? "
