Sayu couldnt change too much for liscencing. The crew are young adults now! Remi grew a pencil stache and the others hate it. They're pursuing college and NSR hired some extra help to lessen the load on them.

NSR Family Headcanons New and Improved

Mayday

Has a mom, dad, and two younger sisters. She grew up in Natura in a pretty high-up family, dad is a finance worker in the nsr building and mom is part of the Natura management. They were quite strict, only showing their support for rock when it was more stable in vinyl city, but now prefer her sisters' enjoyment for EDM. As she got older, she clashed with them, and eventually left their home when she dropped out of college. She hasn't spoken to them, but does talk to her sisters.

Zuke

Has a Mom and Dad, with West obviously. He isn't from vinyl city, but a kampung on the outskirts, though it still was under nsr's domain. His kampung (and many others) faced the worst of the blackouts because of their distance from the city and their limited resources, so everyone there is a bit weary of nsr. His family is quite large, and they all have shadow puppets. His mom is a second-generation jamacian immigrant.

DJSS

Raised by a single mom. His whole childhood, she would lecture him about him mattering in the world and making great art to make her proud. She only praised him when he made very impressive music, and was ashamed of him when he quit his teaching career. She has recently remarried, has a wife now.

Sayu kids

keeping it simple bc there's so many of them. Tila has a single dad, two older sisters, and a twin, remi is an only child with a mom and dad, Dodo is a single child and lives with his uncle, and sofa has a mom and dad, and older brother.

Yinu's mom Comes from a traditional and classical-leaning family. She was a closet goth and loved industrial EDM, but could only play music her parents approved of. This was mainly because she grew up before the Goolings solidified rock as the VC genre. Her great-grandmother is the great-great grandmother of Mayday. She has siblings. Yinu's dad Also came from a classical leaning family, but he always loved the piano, so this wasn't an issue. Was actually not a big fan of the Goolings or rock, but was open-minded about it. He probably has siblings.

Neon J

He had a single mom and littler sister. Growing up, he was the self-appointed man of the house (though he was born a girl), which contributed to his heroic tendencies. Learned to make toys to comfort his sister. He hasn't seen her or their mother in decades, and he doesn't know where they are.

Eve

Grew up relatively rich with a mom and dad. Neither of them really understood how she thought, but they tried their best to. It didn't work well, though. They kind of just treated her as quirky and didnt take her art SUPER seriously, but they meant well if that makes sense. Her father's insecurities rubbed off onto her, which worsened her skin complex.

Tatiana

Has a twin brother made of sedimentary rock. Parents are made of opal and obsidian. Prim and proper, awful parents. She still speaks with her brother regularly, but he much prefers being out of the limelight in comparison to his sister.

Everyone's always talking about the NSR Megastars being a found family for Yinu, but please consider the same thing for Eve.

DJSS and Neon J are her weird uncles/dads that she can vent to about feelings (forever love that fic by mangenov where Neon calls her Evie that's her cyborg dad); I can especially imagine her ranting to DJSS about people being idiots.

1010, the Sayu crew, and Yinu are like her little siblings; there's this one fic where Eve takes a break from NSR and I really enjoyed how her relationship with 1010 was written and I now subscribe to the headcanon of 1010 being like little kids vying for the attention of an older sibling (the sayu crew and Yinu need no explanation, I think her character could grow from acting as role model to the kids; I adore the thought of her having a soft spot for Remi based on that one illustration someone did of her admiring his work like a proud aunt).

Yinu's mama and Tatiana also need no elaborate explanation, they would absolutely be her role models or at least offer her words of wisdom when it comes to relationships and self-worth. Look me in the eyes: mama offering a shoulder to cry on when she spirals over her previous relationship with Zuke and any other emotional baggage and making sure she's healthy and eating properly but also Tatiana as an older aunt figure that she sees as having her shit together and whom is sternly realistic with her when it comes to life and therefore acts as an anchor for when she flies too close to the sun and—

I Don't have everyone down, but i can tell you for sure that:

• Poppy will be taking Yinu's placing, maybe as the mother and a child is a little chick, i'm still considering it

• Mayday and Zuke are replaced by Y/N, but.. A Y and an N. Maybe they'll be twins instead of the whole best buds? I'm unsure of this, but hmhm-

• Barnaby is DK West, good friend to Wally, likely goes by BB Beagle

• Howdy will take the place as DJ Zam since it feels the most fitting based off of the canon voice, besides i don't think there is much of an actual shop?

• Julie and her family ars actually Dodo, Remi, Sofa, and Tila! They just happened to make it based off of Julie herself since she was the friendliest face out of all four of them.

On the other hand, so far i do have a few of the others planned out, and i will likely be doing a full in depth drawing for everyone soon..

I'm thinking along the lines of the Game, and that Vinyl City is actually Vinyl Neighborhood (even if it is still a bit large)

Home is bitter towards Wally, but he really doesn't understand why. It's basically the same between them as it is Tatiana and Kliff themselves. (THE FACT THAT TATIANA CALLS KLIFF A PIECE OF PLA K FEELS SO FITTING FOR THIS PLEASE)

Barnaby will be a good friend of Wally, of course, and Wally will still desire order like Tatiana, but it was likely because the entirety of NSR in this universe had been together, but stress got to Wally, Sally let her dramatic attitude take over, and pretty much everyone just.. Had a big fall out. They still struggle to power the city, and it may be because someone is tampering with Wally's life even further after all was said and done.

Anyhow, this will take some more time to fix together

Just going to show you a recap of my first No Straight Roads AU from my old account. It is called The Creatures of Vinyl City. It is an au where everything is the same, but the scenery changes to a Cryptidcore aesthetic and shout out to @sundove88 for helping out with this one, soooo enjoy!

Wanting to do more with my NSR OCs, Joules and Lux so made a quick little chart about their relationship with the rest of the NSR Elites. (The boss portraits courtesy of TheSpirtersResource)

If you haven't seen my first post about them, Joules and Lux are a married electroswing duo with a 1920s aesthetic. Here are the boss portraits I drew for this:

Quick explanations under the cut:

Reflecting that DJSS is kind of meant to be the biggest jerk in the group, I can see him brushing off their aesthetic like "Why play pretend over a bygone era, the future waits for no one." Which in turn makes them dislike him.

Nothing too complex here. I just like the idea of Sayu's crew admiring the two along with thinking of Remi trying to come up with a flapper design for Sayu to convince them to do a collab.

Yinu wishes they wouldn't treat her like a baby but she still likes them and will sometimes play some music with them on the piano. Mama doesn't have any issues with them, it's just Joules and Lux have seen her angry so...

Joules and Lux have a backup band that consist of older models of the robots 1010 are. Neon J supplied them, glad to give these bots a new purpose like he did with 1010. For 1010 themselves, it depends on how I'm characterizing them at the given moment but in general they get along.

Eve has enough self-awareness that she feels bad about her jealous feelings over Joules and Lux so happy together. Thankfully she's able to put those feelings aside enough to be okay with them. That said, they don't know each other super well since the ladies find her intimidating and don't know how to talk to her outside of being co-workers.

Nothing much to say about Tatiana, she thinks the two are doing a fine job with their district but if they do something stupid, she will let them know. Joules and Lux admire her and think she's a good boss.

Yinu's dad, on the other hand, has a younger sister and was mainly raised by his mother and mystery man. His father was a fauna person (wereanimal), his mother was a plant person. his dad is mexican and his mom is dominican-malay. (Taken from a friend mwahahaha)

Neon J

Eve //toxic parent, ableism

Grew up relatively rich with a mom and dad. Her dad was laid-back and tried his best to understand his daughter, her mom, not so much. Very much a pro-masking parent, "why can't you be normal" type mom. She was also the one that instilled her skin dysmorphia as a teen. Currently, she is in contact with her father, but her mother is trying to leech off her newfound popularity. (Taken from a friend, with some of my own hcs)

Tatiana

Mystery Man is her twin brother. She often rebelled against their parents, especially when they would force her to be girlier and discourage her interest in rock and metal (Taken from a friend). Their mother was made of opal, and their father was obsidian. Mystery man himself is made of sedimentary rock.
