Chapter 6
The city he had chosen to stay in was terrible.
It was noisy, it was crowdy, and the constant heat was making Levi go insane.
And while the city’s loudness and the amount of people in it made it easier for him to blend in, get lost in plain sight and all that bullshit, the heat— the fucking heat, gods, it was killing him.
Levi didn’t like cold weather, despised all the layer of clothes he had to put on just to get to the nearest supermarket and buy instant noodles, he hated the snow with passion he carried since his childhood, he thought that winter was the worst season of them all.
Oh, how wrong he was.
The heat was making his skin crawl. Even in just tank top and shorts, he felt too hot. Drinking cold water, taking cold showers, none of it helped. Levi turned the air conditioning in his room on maximum, but the motel he was staying at was shitty, his room was shitty, and, as a result, the air conditioning was shitty too.
Levi was sick of it. His skin was constantly clammy and sticky, he couldn’t sleep at night, there was never enough air around him, and walking around the city during the daytime made him seriously consider whether he was actually a vampire.
The sun… could it really burn so much? It didn’t used to be so unbearable before.
But apart from that… Levi was starting to accommodate to his new life.
Leaving his hometown behind, he decided to let go of his previous habits too. He got himself a job - not a respectable, but at least an honest one.
Being a janitor in a shitty bar after spending most of his life as a thief was almost… therapeutic.
The vomit on the walls and piss on the floors were enraging him to the point of seeing red and sometimes he wanted to break a leg of every asshole who didn’t know when they had enough and went to make a mess in the toilet, but… working there was therapeutic nevertheless. And a definite improvement too.
At least, his life wasn’t in danger anymore and he didn’t have to run away from police.
Although, he wouldn’t mind running away from a certain police officer. Perhaps, this time he would let her catch him. Perhaps, then his heart would stop clenching in pain every time he thought about Hange.
Perhaps, then he’d be able to let go.
He tried letting go, forgetting about Hange, just as he tried to put behind his life of crime. Unfortunately, putting Hange behind proved to be that much harder.
Some nights, when the heat was especially bad, he felt especially lonely and the shitty whiskey at the shitty bar he was working at didn’t do the trick, he’d snuck a look at how Hange was doing. He’d open his phone, scroll through a news feed. If he’d get lucky, there would a recording of some press conference with Hange at the center of it all.
Apparently, she was doing well. Her shoulder was almost healed, although sometimes she still winced, when gesticulating too frantically. But the paleness in her face that was present when he had visited her at the hospital was long gone, and at the few press conferences that allowed Levi to catch a glimpse of her, Hange’s cheeks were adorned by healthy, rosy blush. Her hair was just as wild, just as messy, and her voice carried the same inspiring conviction.
Whether Hange found out the truth about him or not, he didn’t know, but she had moved past Ackermans’ case and during the time Levi was getting used to his new life she alredy solved two robberies.
She was working on a new case now, something about a young girl who had mysteriously vanished. Levi didn’t bother to find out the details, the name Krista Lenz meant nothing to him, but nevertheless, he wished that Hange would succeed. She deserved that, her quick wit and determination were meant to be recognized and celebrated.
That bright, happy smile on her face, the one she was sporting during the conference that discussed one of the solved robberies, it suited Hange so much. Levi wished she’d wear it more often.
He wished he’d see it more often, but well… some things just weren’t meant to be.
Strangely so, Kenny didn’t contact him even once. No obnoxious phone call, no mysterious messages or weird gifts. There was no sign of him for almost two months, and Levi would have started worrying, would have tried to contact the man himself, if… if Kenny wasn’t Kenny.
His uncle was like a cockroach, Levi was one hundred percent sure that nothing and no one could cause him any harm. And if there was someone who actually could do this, Kenny would have harmed them back, ten times worse.
Still, the thoughts about Kenny lingered at the back of his mind, and memories about Hange did the same irritating thing. It made Levi feel awfully nostalgic sometimes, borderline melancholic. And fairly quickly he found out there was nothing he could do about it. No amount of whiskey or dirty toilets could chase that sadness away. That sadness was a new part of his new life.
Maybe, it was better than always living on the edge.
Luckily, he didn’t feel so lonely all the time, his colleagues at the bar made sure of that.
And while his boss, a bald, gross man called Shadis definitely wasn’t a joy to have around, two others – a barmaid named Sasha and waiter Connie were so much better.
They were annoying in their own right, of course. Sasha had a weird obsession with food, Connie’s sense of humor left much to be desired, and together both of them were so damn loud, but for brats who barely stepped into adulthood, they provided a fairly enjoyable company.
They let Levi take his mind off certain things, and they kept him from falling into the abyss of loneliness and depression.
They also opened up the side of him that Levi wasn’t even aware of.
Connie had once mentioned in a passing that his mother had died years ago, and whatever happened to Sasha’s family, she wasn’t living with them anymore, sharing a small flat with Connie and another guy, Jean.
In Levi’s humble, unbiased opinion, Jean was a self-centered, pompous jerk. He wasn’t working in the bar with his two friends, and instead had involved himself in some shady shit with a local gang, which apparently terrified the whole neighborhood. Levi wanted to tell the boy that he was a fucking idiot, if he thought that messing with criminals was a good idea, but he doubted that Jean would listen. Luckily, Jean wasn’t around too often and visited the bar only, when he was miserable about some girl he had a crush on, or whenever he wished to get drunk for free.
It was a good thing that Levi barely interacted with Jean. The boy was so annoying. And also – too damn tall.
He didn’t hear about any other friends of theirs, and as far as Levi was aware, there was no actual adult watching over Sasha and Connie, so… he kinda, unwillingly, of course, took that task upon himself.
Obviously, he made sure to remain discreet. He didn’t want the brats to know that he cared, because he didn’t, naturally.
He claimed that he simply cooked too much food and the leftovers would go to waste, if he didn’t give them away, when he brought them pasta or soup. He mentioned his insomnia and pretended that long walks helped him sleep better, when Sasha and Connie went home after midnight. He lied about having experience in bartending when Sasha got stomach flu. He said that he was just accidentally passing by their apartment, when later that day he visited to check on her.
The brats were too dense to notice his subtle attempts anyway, or so Levi hoped. They had never brought it up, and that had to mean something, right?
And that time when Connie tried to fix Levi’s air conditioning, or when Sasha brought a whole jar of his favorite tea, or all those evenings when he felt blue and homesick and they helped him clean the bar and took him out to dinner, surely it was nothing more than a coincidence.
The brats had their moments, Levi had to admit, and sometimes their presence was almost pleasant.
But sometimes they made him wish they shut their mouths and never opened them again.
Right now, that desire was more prevalent than ever.
“Say, Mister Levi,” Levi hated when they called him that, it made him sound even older than he actually was. He told them to stop it, many times. But the brats didn’t care. He slowly raised his eyes to show that he was listening. As soon as he did, Sasha put a fist underneath her chin, forgetting about the important task of cleaning the glasses to stare at him curiously. “Do you have someone?”
“Someone?” he had an inkling of what Sasha was asking him about, but he didn’t wish to discuss that with the damned brats. He didn’t wish to discuss that topic with no one, ever. Because… there was nothing to discuss.
“Yep, someone!” Connie chimed in. “Like, hm, a significant other?”
“A beloved!” Sasha agreed, nodding enthusiastically.
Levi felt the migraine coming. “I don’t have any kind of someone,” he gritted. “And I never did.”
“Really?” Sasha tilted her head to the side, looking so skeptical that Levi was ready to get offended. Was he not convincing enough? “I thought you do. It’s just that sometimes—”
“When you think no one is looking!” Connie swiftly added.
“Your face seems so much softer, and your scowl almost disappears, and you look—”
“Just like Jean when he thinks about Mikasa.”
Who the fuck was Mikasa? And what face was Jean making? Levi couldn’t be making the same one, could he?
“But if you say there is no one,” Sasha sighed, returning to her task of cleaning glasses. Wearing the same sad face as she did, Connie went back to gathering dishes from the tables. “Then I guess we’re wrong.”
Damn right, they were. There was no one, and whatever face they thought he was making, it couldn’t possibly be related to a certain police officer from the other side of the world.
“And if there is no one you have to think about,” Sasha winked, like she was seeing right through him. “Then let me make you a drink. It’s a new recipe I found, it involves tequila, vodka and—”
Levi raised a hand to cut her off. “Just surprise me.”
Sasha nodded and went to work. She frequently let Levi taste her new cocktails. He was the perfect man for it – he didn’t get drunk too fast, and he was the only Sasha’s friend who tasted something better than cheap whiskey or a beer from a local supermarket. He also never shied away from telling her when the drink was fucking awful.
Sasha hummed as she mixed the drink, some song Levi vaguely recognized from the radio. She was smiling too, she did that frequently, and something about her, be it the ponytail that jumped up and down when she was excited, or her easy-going, cheerful personality reminded him of Hange.
These days, lots of things reminded him about Hange. There were days when almost everything reminded him of Hange. It seemed like today was exactly a day like that.
“You’re making that same face again,” Sasha whispered, as she handed him the drink.
Levi scowled, glaring at the girl, as he put the glass up to his lips. He finished it in one go. “It tastes like shit,” he told her. “Put it on the menu.”
Sasha beamed, refilling his glass. “Knew you’d like it.”
“By the way, boss,” Levi wasn’t their boss, as far as he was aware, their actual boss was getting drunk in his office, all the while mumbling incomprehensible gibberish about some Carla. But Levi had to admit, being called boss was so much better than the godforsaken mister Levi. "Are you free tonight?"
Levi was free every day and every night, when he wasn’t working in the bar with Connie and Sasha. It wasn’t like he had any friends or even acquaintances beside two brats. However, saying it out loud would make him look even more pathetic that he actually was. So Levi shrugged, and said, as nonchalantly as possible, “Depends.”
“Would you like to come over for dinner?” Connie asked, looking at him with a smile so hopeful that Levi was ready to say yes right that instant. God, they already had him wrapped around their fingers. How embarrassing. At least, Kenny wasn’t here to witness it. He’d have a laugh of his life, if he found that Levi was adopted by two teenagers. “Jean is away on a trip, so we’d be glad to have some company.”
“He went to see his family?”
From the way Sasha bit her lip and Connie refused to meet his eye, Levi knew – their friend didn’t go on a simple trip. He sighed, taking a sip from his glass and letting the bitter liquid burn his throat. Admittedly, it was none of his business. He shouldn’t care about it, he wasn’t their father, for god’s sake. But… a friendly piece of advice wouldn’t hurt, right?
“Your friend plays with fire. And if he continues doing so—”
“Jean knows what he is doing,” Connie crossed hands on his chest defensively. “He is smart.”
Levi couldn’t help but scoff. “Just being smart is not enough. There will always be someone smarter.”
“Jean knows what he is doing,” Connie repeated stubbornly. “He’ll be fine.”
Maybe, he will, maybe, he won’t. At the end of the day, Levi had no say about it. He might call them brats, but they were already adults. They were allowed to do as they wished. They were bound to make some mistakes.
“Tell him to be more careful. Otherwise, you’ll suffer too.”
Levi left it at that, not wanting to antagonize Sasha and Connie any further. Besides, it was time to open the bar, or the drunkards all across the block would start banging on their doors. Worse than that, Shadis might come out of his office too. His sour face was the last thing Levi wished to see.
“Let’s get to work,” he nodded to the kids, and took his drink to the dark corner of the room, where he usually spend his shifts, waiting until the patrons start making a mess he’d have to clean.
Surprisingly, the evening came and went, but there was no mess for him to deal with. No one vomited, no one shitted all over the toilets. No one spilled their beer on the floor, or even a table. Were their patrons starting to learn how act like people, and not pigs? Or were they so well-behaved because it was just the beginning of a week? Or did the heat finally get to them and turn them just as slow and tired as Levi himself felt?
However, the weather was more merciful that day. The temperature was still high, too high for Levi’s taste, but just after the sunset the wind was starting to pick up, the storm slowly brewing. During the smoke break outside the bar, Levi could see the lightening, illuminating the far edge of the sky. The rain was in the air, and he allowed his lips to curl up in a pleased smile. Perhaps, he’d finally be able to sleep through the whole night and not toss and turn, feeling like the bed turned into a scorching pan.
When he went back inside, the bar was almost empty, just a few regulars left, nursing their half-finished drinks.
“Do you want to have pizza or sushi?” Sasha asked, as he started sweeping the floor. “We can order both if you wish.”
Levi rolled his eyes with a disgusted tsk. “Eating so much takeout is unhealthy. Let’s finish here and go to supermarket. I’ll cook you something decent.”
Connie yelled a loud yahoo, while Sasha squeezed him in a suffocating hug. The heartwarming moment was cut short, when the door to the bar was thrown open with a loud bang.
It let inside the gush of wind and drops of freezing rain. With a broom still in his hands, Levi turned sharply to the door, ready to rip the unlucky drunkard a new one, the bar had closed almost an hour ago, the sign was right there for everyone to see.
All harsh words died on the way between his throat and his tongue. Levi froze on the spot, and in the silence that followed the lightning strike was as sudden as a gunshot.
Sasha’s distressed cry and Connie’s shocked sob put him out of the stupor.
Throwing the broom away, Levi moved, catching the falling, bloodied boy into his arms.
“Jean!” Sasha was the first one of the two to snap out of it. She ran to Levi, with trembling hands lifting up her friend’s face.
“What the fuck had happened?” Connie kneeled next to them, his eyes wide and scared as he stared at Jean.
Jean looked awful, there was no way around it. His cheeks and jaw were bruised, his right eye was already swollen, and his light brown hair had too much red in it.
“I’m sorry,” he croaked out, too weak and injured to offer something more than a shaking whisper. “I’m sorry, I’ve fucked up, I didn’t know where to run and now they’re coming here, I didn’t mean to do this, I didn’t think, I—”
He could continue that nonessential ramble for the rest of the night. But if they, whoever those they were, were truly coming, Jean and his friends didn’t have that much time. Carefully, Levi lifted Jean’s arm, wincing when he saw that the boy’s shirt was bloodied too, and threw it over Connie’s shoulder. Then he took the key from the back pocket of his shorts and thrusted it into Sasha’s palm.
“Take him to my room in the motel.”
“And you?”
Levi pushed the hair away from his face, already hating himself for his next words. Kenny was right, he cared too much, and it was his biggest weakness, one that would probably get him killed one day. Perhaps, that day had already arrived.
“I’ll stay here and buy you some time.”
“No!” Jean protested, frantically grabbing Levi by the elbow. “It’s my fuck up, you shouldn’t get involved, you don’t know—”
“I do know. And unlike you, I can actually take care of myself.”
Perhaps, he was too harsh, but it was necessary. Jean had fucked up, and whatever he had done, he had to own that mistake and learn from it. That was the only way he would survive through another one of his mistakes.
“Hurry up,” he told Sasha and Connie. “I’ll meet you as soon as I’m finished.”
Thankfully, they didn’t try to argue. Connie wished him luck and Sasha made him promise to come back, and that was it.
As soon as they had left, Levi hopped behind the bar counter to pour himself a shot of whiskey. He lighted up a cigarette, waiting for the front door to swing open and Jean’s persecutors to arrive. Hopefully, they’d do it without guns blazing.
He was just finishing the first glass and was thinking of getting himself a second one, when the mighty kick almost as loud as the thunder outside pushed the door open. Three men tumbled inside a second later, their faces transformed by fury into caricature masks.
“Where is that son of a bitch?” roared one in the middle, their leader, Levi assumed.
Levi was in no hurry to answer. He took the last drag of the cigarette, meticulously put it down against the surface of an ashtray. Then looked at the men in front of him. “The bar is closed. There is no one here but me.”
“Stop fucking with us!” the asshole on the left shouted. “We saw him run inside!”
“If that fucker isn’t here, perhaps we should look around for his friends,” the third man offered. “I know they’re working here.”
So there was no way around it? Levi sighed, walking from beyond the counter. “Just so you know,” approaching the men, he cracked his knuckles. “I don’t condone violence.”
One of the thugs started laughing, the other two immediately followed. Levi didn’t expect any other reaction. The men were burly, large, they definitely weren’t smart.
“What are you going to do to us, midget? Do you seriously think you can beat us up?”
The insult was followed by a punch, a careless, blundering one. Levi effortlessly dodged it, delivering a vicious kick to the stomach of his attacker. The man - who upon the close inspection had yellow teeth and reeked of cheap alcohol – staggered. He caught himself at the last second, holding onto nearest table with white-knuckled desperation. Levi hit again, this time with his knee. With a gasp that turned into a groan, the man fell onto the ground.
Luckily, he stayed there, and Levi turned his attention to the other two.
The one who stood at the left attacked instantly, aiming his enormous fist at Levi’s jaw. There was an unfinished bottle of whiskey on the counter right behind him, and Levi grabbed it, smashing it against the man’s head. The resulting sound was loud, almost deafening. Levi tried to forget about the mess of spilled whiskey on the floor and let himself enjoy that pleasant sound for another moment.
That was a slight miscalculation on his part, because the last man apparently was armed with knife, and he swung it without hesitation. Levi jumped to the side, but wasn’t quick enough. The knife’s edge kissed his cheek, leaving a smear of blood behind it. A mere second later, the knife was in the air once again. Levi was ready for it this time, but as he prepared to take a swift step back, his ankle refused to budge. He looked down to see that one of the defeated men was back in the game, still laying on a floor, but holding Levi in one place. Levi quickly dealt with him, using another leg to kick the man’s head. It took him no more than a moment, but it was enough for him to lose sight of his last attacker. Whatever plan of retaliation Levi had, he lost it, when the knife embedded in his forearm, making him hiss and cuss. Irritated, he roughly grabbed the hand that held the knife, twisting the arm at the wrist.
There was a loud crack, then the even louder scream.
Not too elegant, but, at least, it did the job.
Yanking the knife out of his arm, Levi threw it away, allowing it to clutter on the ground.
“Get the fuck out of here!” he snarled at the men, who weren’t laughing anymore. On the contrary, their faces were panicked, frightened. They pathetically scrambled to their feet, pushing each other to get outside as fast as possible. “And don’t come back!” Levi shouted to their backs.
When the door fell closed, Levi slumped back against the counter. The spot on his cheek was tingling unpleasantly, his arm was hurting like a bitch, and the whole bar had turned into a mess – the shards of glass and spilled whiskey were all over the floor. The blood from his arm was creating a small puddle too.
Levi viciously cursed and grabbed a towel, making a make-shift bandage. It had to do for the time being.
One mess was dealt with, and now another was awaiting him. He’d be lucky if the dirty floor would be the biggest of his troubles tonight.
But somehow, Levi knew that it was just the beginning.
***
Levi never considered himself to be a philosophic kind of person, he never pondered on the meaning of things, never felt the desire to look at the problem at hand from all possible angles, never reflected on his feelings and emotions.
He did however notice that the small room he had rented in a shitty motel at the edge of the city never felt to him like home. It was a place to live, it had a bed to sleep, it held some of his belongings, but it wasn’t a home, it didn’t provoke in him the feeling of belonging that he found inside the walls of his and Kenny’s old apartment.
He spent a little more than two months, living in that shithole, and never once he thought – I’m home, never once he felt – I belong right here.
But something very similar was blooming in his chest, when he passed the threshold of his shitty motel room and fell right into the arms of Connie and Sasha.
Sasha started cleaning his wounds right away, while Connie rushed to get the new bandages for his bloodied arm.
“You should have been more careful,” Sasha chided, and, fuck, he really got adopted by a couple of kids just like that.
“We could have dealt with this ourselves,” Connie said, and then, after a little pause, added, “Probably.”
Levi hummed and resisted the urge to ruffle the hair on their heads. He didn’t have that much affection for the little shits. Probably.
Just as they finished, Jean appeared, unsteadily walking out of the bathroom. He stopped not long after, leaning against the doorframe. Patched up and cleaned, he still didn’t look like his usual, confident and complacent self. Now he reminded Levi of a puppy who was thoroughly and viciously kicked. His hair was now clean of blood, but the shirt was still covered in red patches. Levi would have offered him one of his own t-shirts, but… on Jean’s lanky body it’d look more like a crop top. Or a child’s shirt.
“I’m sorry,” Jean murmured, not meeting Levi’s eyes. “I didn’t know it’d lead to this.”
Yeah, they almost never know. Levi sighed, there was no point in scolding boy any further. He had realized his fuck up already, his buddies from the gang made sure of that.
“What the hell happened?” Levi asked, his back turned to Jean, as he went to prepare the tea for all of them. It would help to soothe some of Jean’s injuries, and it would also help to relieve Levi of the building tension in his shoulders.
“I… wasn’t quite ready for this life, I guess,” Jean sat down on a bed, covering his face with hands. “There is a guy I’ve been working with, he stole some drugs he was supposed to sell, and other gang members found out and decided to punish him, make an example out of him, but that guy… he was my friend, sort of? We hanged out a lot, and I just couldn’t see him get hurt like that…”
“Oh my god!” Sasha’s hands flew to her face and her mouth opened wide. “Did you get beat up because you tried to protect Marco?”
Connie snorted. “I see you’re getting over Mikasa pretty quickly.”
Behind his hands, Jean’s face started to gain color. “I just helped a guy out.”
“And didn’t even ask for a kiss after the heroic rescue?” Sasha teased.
“There wasn’t much time for kisses after the whole gang started running after us.”
“You poor thing,” Connie patted Jean’s head, sharing a mischievous look with Sasha. “Didn’t even get a kiss for all the trouble.”
The two boys started to bicker, and Levi watched the scene, feeling the pounding inside his head increase. It’d be a long, long night. The one he’d have to spend sleeping on a floor, because there were three brats in his room and only one queen-sized bed.
He raised a hand, putting a stop to the argument that was starting to raise in volume.
“Is the other guy alright?” he asked Jean, as he handed him a cup, filled with steaming tea.
Jean accepted the drink with a grateful nod, but didn’t answer the question right away, staring inside the cup thoughtfully. “He managed to get out of the city. The assholes that beat me up caught me just after he got on a bus.”
Well, that was certainly good news. The only one they received since the beginning of this evening.
“You have to run away too, preferably for quite some time. Those guys won’t forget about you so easily. Do you have a place where you can hide?”
“Well…” frowning, Jean rubbed his neck, “My parents have a summer house…”
“Excellent, does anyone know about it?”
“No, not even these idiots,” Jean answered, pointing at Sasha and Connie.
“Then take these idiots, because your gangster pals know, where all of you live and work,” Levi grumbled. “And get out of here first thing in the morning. Spend a few months in the countryside, wait until this shitty storm is over.”
“And what about you? Now they know about you too.”
What about him… good question. And a very easy one to answer. He’d have to change cities again, luckily, he already had some experience with that. Sure, it was an inconvenience, but… better than live his life and have to constantly look over his shoulder, or die in some dirty alleyway. Perhaps, he’d be able to return some day, when the tensions were long over.
“I’ll leave the city,” he told them. “Wouldn’t be the first time.”
“You had to run away before?” Connie asked, awe written all over his face. “So cool!”
“And you beat up all these guys for us!” Sasha agreed, adoration shining in her gaze.
“You aren’t just a janitor, eh?” Jean stared at him with narrowed eyes.
Levi saved from answering by a loud shrill of the phone.
Everyone in the room tensed, Levi felt his heart pounding inside his chest, a relentless boom, boom, boom. He wet his lips, his throat suddenly too dry, and stood up.
“No!” Jean grabbed his arm, stopping Levi from picking up the phone. Levi understood his panic, it was the middle of the night, who in their right mind would call him at this time? Who would call him period, all the people Levi knew in this city were sitting next to him. Unless, it was Shadis who got out of his drunken stupor and decided to have a friendly chat with a janitor from his bar?
And if it wasn’t Shadis, then…
Acutely feeling his every heartbeat, Levi pulled his arm out of Jean’s grasp. Swallowing that persisting lump inside his throat down, he put his hand on a phone handle. Slowly, holding in his breath, he lifted the phone and put it to his ear.
“Is your name even Levi? Or was that another lie, you asshole?”
That voice. Her voice. Levi helplessly fell back in the armchair behind him.
“H-hange?” the crack in his voice was heard and analyzed by a bunch of kids, who now all stood beside him. Levi waved them away, drowning out the intrigued murmuring, and focused on a person on the other side of the line.
“You still remember my name, I’m flattered, Ackerman,” ah, so she found out. Not surprising in the slightest, but disappointing nevertheless. But how did she find out? And when? And why she was calling now? And how she managed to obtain the number of a motel he was staying at? So many questions, Levi wanted to ask them all at once. He didn’t even know where to start. “And just a piece of friendly advice, next time you go into hiding, don’t go around asking police officers on a date.”
Well, that was one question answered. Only one hundred remained.
“Are you going to arrest me now?”
“No, unfortunately,” Hange bitterly replied. “I need you, Ackerman. For work,” she added, before Levi could get any ideas and just before his heart started racing like crazy. “Take the first flight back to city, if you don’t want me to drag you out of there by force. I’ll be waiting for you in the airport.”
Hange was going to end the call, Levi could practically see her finger hover over the button. Before she did, he cried out, “Wait!” and then, much more calmly he added, “What do you need me for?”
“Your uncle went missing. I need you to help me find him.”
The line went dead immediately after that. It took Levi another moment to pull himself together.
Kenny was… missing? Kenny, his ruthless, unstoppable uncle? And Hange was looking for him? Too much was unknown, too much was unclear, too much was yet to be explained.
One thing for sure, he wouldn’t find the answers here. Well, one problem was solved then, he didn’t have to change cities anymore. He’d just have to return home.
“So.”
Just a short word, but so much meaning was put in it. With a feeling of dread, Levi turned to face Sasha. He shuddered at the sight of her wide, shit-eating smile.
“Hange, hm?” she asked, twirling a lock of hair.
“Hange is your someone, right?” Connie excitedly exclaimed. “Your Mikasa?”
“Hange is his Marco,” Sasha corrected, earning a vicious curse and a middle finger from Jean. “I guess it’s all over with Mikasa.”
It was all over with Hange too. There was nothing with Hange to begin with. And there would be nothing, because apparently she hated him now. For a good reason too.
Fuck. Kenny, Hange, the brats, they all caused Levi a massive headache. And there was no running away from it, they’d find him whenever he ran.
Perhaps, it meant that he had to stop running. And come back home.
“Let’s go to sleep,” he told the kids. “A long journey is ahead of you. And ahead of me too.”
“You’re leaving? To your Hange?”
“Hange is not my someone, I’m just leaving,” Levi grunted, turning off the light. “Go to sleep before I knock you all out.”
Thankfully, they listened and got on a bed without a word of complain.
“It’s good that your Hange found you,” Sasha mumbled, already sleepy. “Maybe, now you won’t be so sad anymore.”
Sasha seemed to fall asleep immediately after, not waiting for Levi’s answer. Or, perhaps, she wasn’t interested in it.
Soon Connie was out as well, and even Jean, after a few of tosses, turns and more than a dozen pained groans managed to settle in comfortably and fall into deep slumber.
Levi didn’t get so lucky, the thoughts about what tomorrow would bring swirling in his mind and keeping him awake.
But, well… at least his melancholy and homesickness wouldn’t be a problem anymore. After two months of being away, he was going home at last.
Strangely, the prospect didn’t seem that thrilling.

random armin/mikasa/jean headcanons (college au)
↯ pairing: armin x (fem) reader, mikasa x (fem) reader, jean x (fem) reader
↯ genres and warnings: college au, fluff, lets see how many times i can mention eren in writing that has absolutely nothing to do with him
↯ notes: this.... probably won’t be a regular thing, i don’t know that i can consistently continue writing for them, but this sure was fun and reminded me that i actually have feelings for someone other than levi :// didn’t ask for that, but here we are
ARMIN ARLERT
Would most likely get pretty good grades, but he can definitely be lazy about it and hear me out.
If it’s a class that he likes and is genuinely interested in (which is the majority of them), he’s going to put in the work—sometimes too much work—to make sure he’s doing well. He usually studies very meticulously, and stays on top of his game throughout the semester.
But if it’s one of those bs classes the university makes you take, or some kind of stupid elective that was the only course that could fit into his schedule? Well, Armin is smart enough to bullshit his way through anything, so he’s not going to exert himself for a class he doesn’t even care about.
Oh, and he’s very vocal about complaining to you about said bullshit courses. (Completely justified, go off king).
“I swear sometimes the TA just lowers marks randomly to ‘keep the class average.’ Granted, I didn’t really study for the quiz, so I wasn’t expecting a stellar grade or anything, but I know they do that sometimes.” “Well, babe, why didn’t you study.” “Because I hate it, (Y/N).”
Like I said, takes school seriously and tries his best; but even he knows he doesn’t have to be at 100% all the time. It’s also kind of a flex how smart he is and how much he can get by on doing the absolute bare minimum.
Poor Connie is studying his ass off for their shared elective and Armin barely looked at the first page of the textbook, and he’ll probably get a 90 anyways.
Imagine he’s so caught up with his other classes, he actually forgets about a midterm for his stupid elective, and at first he’s freaking out, so you kind of have to remind him of who tf he is. You finally get him to relax and he blinks at you, “Oh right, I didn’t study because I didn’t have to haha nice.”
Helps you prepare for presentations by letting you practice them in front of him. Actually gives good feedback, but sometimes he’s just watching you and not really listening.
Sometimes, you have to be the one to remind him to take a step back and take care of himself, before his schoolwork. He doesn’t like to worry you, and likely feels guilty when he sees you walking up to him in the library at 2am; so he won’t fight you on it, and just lets you help him pack up all his stuff and head home for the day.
Likes head massages. Maybe sometimes has faked a little bit of a headache to get you to massage his head and play with his hair. He’ll never tell.
If you rub his cheek while he’s laying on top of you, he will knock out like a baby. Almost immediately. It’s a surefire way to get him to go to sleep.
Schedules dates with you, and plans them out meticulously. Sometimes gets playful and sends you a whole ass e-vite.
“Armin, why do I have an email invitation for our date to the library?” “So that you don’t forget, of course.” “How could I forget, it’s later today, and you’re literally helping me study for my midterm.” “With popcorn!”
Probably the type to get a job on campus. You and your friends come to visit him when he’s on shift and annoy him. He secretly likes it.
Oh, he’s kind of shady. Scratch that, can be very shady. He complains about school to you, but also just complains to you in general; he doesn’t outwardly do that a lot, but you’re his confidant.
Sometimes you get surprised and call him out on it and you’re like “Oh my god, Armin, the poor girl didn’t mean to mess up the project,” and he’s like “Well. Sometimes people are idiots and it has to be said.”
Has a bad habit of rolling his eyes and he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it. “Did you just roll your eyes at me.” “I don’t know, did I?” Bye.
His hands are always covered in some kind of ink/markings. Accidental brushes of his pens, streaks from his highlighters or markers, a little bit of lead from his pencil along the side of his palm.
Speaking of which, he strikes me as the kind of guy to keep a bullet journal. Not necessarily decked out and fancy with Polaroids and extravagant fonts; but definitely neat, and decorated to some extent, depending on how he’s feeling. It makes him feel organized.
He would pencil in important dates and markers of your relationship into said journal. “Friday night: museum date—remember to buy the tickets in advance.”
If anyone is going to buy, wash, peel, and cut up fruit for you, it’s going to be Armin.
Lowkey tutoring all of his friends, and might be the sole reason that Connie hasn’t dropped out yet. He likes tutoring you the most, though.
Get this, sometimes he asks you to tutor him, even if he knows damn well he doesn’t need it. Maybe he’ll even sign up for a stupid elective if it’s a class you’ve taken before, just to have an excuse to get you to teach him something.
Likes trying new things with you. He might not always like the new things that you try, but he’s open to trying them at least once. Well… most things anyways. Just don’t ask him to get up at dawn and go jogging with you.
I genuinely cannot tell if he would be a morning person or not. Maybe mid-morning. Probably not a rise-and-shine at 6am kind of guy, but is up by at least 10:00am every day. Very cute when he’s groggy though, and stumbles around a bit like a baby deer when he first gets up, especially if he’s hungry.
He likes to bike. And really likes when you go on bike rides with him. As long as you both are on your own bikes, you learned the hard way that tandem biking isn’t cut out for you.
Knows that all-nighters aren’t good for you, but sometimes you have to pull them anyways. If you both have a lot to get done, he’ll stay up with you and make sure you both take breaks and drink water.
Can twirl his pens in that really fast and fancy way, and can do the thing where he rolls it between all his fingers too. I’ll let you think bout the implications of that for yourself.
He likes watching cartoons, and reels you into all his favorites. Definitely likes to stay in on weekends watching cartoons with you and just chilling.
Will go to a party with you if you ask, or if his friends are hosting, but nothing beyond that. You didn’t hear this from me, but he’d probably like to smoke more than drink.
Sometimes you think he needs a break and you commission Eren to take him out for the night, but Armin still comes back looking more composed than him. A little sleepy and maybe a bit out of it, but not sloshed, much to your disappointment. “Eren, you really couldn’t have tried to be more a bad influence?? I was counting on you!!”
Eren’s confused, like, “Did you want me to get him white boy wasted??” “Yeah, kinda!! It’s what he deserves every once in a while. Ugh, next time I’m calling in Sasha, she knows how to drink.”
By the way, if you’re dating Armin, you’re kind of dating (or at least babysitting) Eren too. Or vice versa. Either way, they will also go on dates without you. (“Hanging out. We’re hanging out, and I’m tutoring him so he doesn’t fail Biology, (Y/N).” “Likely story, ocean eyes.”)
Can be touchy in a very absentminded way. He’ll reach out to play with your ears/earrings, habitually rub at your shoulders if you’re standing in front of him, mindlessly toy with the ends of your clothing. Half the time he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it, he’s so cute.
Plays one sport—is on the soccer team. It keeps him busy, and forces him to focus on something that isn’t academics once in a while. He’s pretty good at it, too; he and Eren make a good team when they play together.
You and Eren tried to get him to join the baseball team too. Eren, because he likes playing with Armin. You, because, well… the uniforms. He would look so good in the uniform.
MIKASA ACKERMAN
Makes her classes look like a breeze, even though it’s at least 300 pages of reading and writing per week.
Kind of gives me Elle Woods “What, like it’s hard?” kind of vibes when it comes to schoolwork. You’re in awe of how she just did 75 pages of reading with a tiny ass font in one sitting, and she just blinks at you like “Was it supposed to be difficult?”
Speaking of which, she likes to read in general; for leisure, outside of her school work. She’ll recommend you books, too. If you don’t like to read, she’ll still try and rope you in with shorter stories, or just read them aloud to you herself.
Sits at a table across from you while you both do your schoolwork independently. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a quiet, almost implicit sense of intimacy that she really likes.
Bundles you up when it’s cold, and won’t take no for an answer. You will wear a hat, whether you like it or not.
Always prepared—and by that I mean, she carries things on her that she realizes you might need. Tissues, extra pens, an extra pair of mittens. She strikes me as the kind of person to pay attention to details like those.
Likes to walk you to class, even if her class is very far away from your building. She doesn’t mind.
On that note, she knows your schedule pretty well, where it pertains to classes and personal interests.
If you’re the type of person who can slack off or even just get caught up in other things when it comes to school work, she’ll be there to keep you on track and hold you accountable. Usually through setting aside times to study with you, but can even be through small things like asking you how your assignment is going.
(Nevermind that you completely forgot about the assignment, and hadn’t even started it—but that’s the point; she knew that).
Hear me out: holding pinkies. Maybe not when you’re walking, but when you’re seated next to each other. The longer you’re together, the more likely she is to initiate it, too.
Would rather study at home/in her apartment than in the library, but if you like to study there, she can compromise a few days out of the week.
Makes you playlists, and they’re usually really good, because she knows you so well. Sometimes she gets cute and customizes the cover art to a picture of the both of you.
She’s your ride or die, so if you complain to her about a prof you don’t like or a TA you don’t think is fair she’s 100% on your side. She might not always be able to do anything about it, but she’ll definitely let you complain to her.
Texts you throughout the day to check up on you, but usually disguised through other questions. Asks what you want/had for lunch when she’s really checking to make sure you ate. Asks you what time your lectures end, just to make sure you didn’t skip it (again). Asks you what time you’re going to be done studying to make sure you don’t stay up all night cramming again.
Takes a genuine interest in your courses, and absolutely loves to listen to you talk about them.
If your classes are vastly different, she’ll still try and help you however she can, even if it’s only in small ways, like proofreading something for you.
Doesn’t use emojis alot, so your contact doesn’t have a bunch of hearts next your name on anything. But she does put your last name in as Ackerman.
Has social media, but mostly uses it to keep up with her friends, and you. You’re in most of the few pictures that she does post, and she might not say it, but she really likes it when you post photos of/with her.
Not sure why, but I think she’d be a pretty decent artist if she tried. That trend of doing glass paintings on TikTok? I think she’d be into that, and would plan out the whole thing as a date with you.
Keeps up with all your favorite shows to talk about or watch them with you. Sometimes she’ll purposely miss a few episodes so that she can spend the night and marathon them with you.
Likes to stay in and drink cheap wine and just watch or talk about whatever with you. You could watch a terrible show just to laugh and comment on it the entire time and she would be so happy.
Doesn’t like to sit down on public transportation, and honestly would rather you didn’t either, but she’s not going to stop you from taking a seat. If you’re sitting, she’ll stand in front of/over you, and always keeps wire headphones long enough for you to share music that way.
The most insufferable human when she’s sick and she knows it. She hates being sick. And she knows you shouldn’t be around her or else you might get sick but she also just wants you to hold her. (You do).
Likes to sleepover at your place. Talks with you about your day while you lay down. Always smells good. Very cuddly when sleepy. 10/10.
Hates the act of doing her laundry, but likes doing it with you. Lowkey starts buying and using the same detergent and fabric softener as you because it makes her smell like you.
Gets very embarrassed if you kiss her in public. Very red in the cheeks, it’s kind of cute, so I wouldn’t blame you if you did it on purpose.
JEAN KIRSTEIN
Jean is… quite smart, if you ask me. Or, at the very least, analytical, which can be applied to a variety of academic settings.
The only thing is, he’s incredibly lazy about it. He wants to do well in school, and can definitely pull himself together for a midterm or an exam; but is horrible at keeping pace with all his other work and assignments on a regular basis.
He also can’t sit still, which is why even though he is very kind and chivalrous and brings many snacks to your study sessions, he is also competing for number one worst study partner. Right next to Eren and Sasha.
Gets pouty when you tell him you don’t want to study with him. “But… but… but I brought snacks! And bubble tea!” “Yes, but you also have the attention span of a rabbit, Jean.”
At the end of the day he understands… that doesn’t mean he’s not going to be bitter about it LOLOL. It’s fine, you can make it up to him by hanging out with him afterwards.
Is, like, classically trained in at least two instruments because his mom put him in lessons as a child. He used to hate it growing up, and he doesn’t practice much now, so he never talks about it.
One day you happen to mention something about comparing two songs, telling him they remind you of each other but you don’t know exactly why or why, and very nonchalantly he’s like, “They sound similar because they share the same major chord in the chorus, and they’re in the same key.”
And you just kind of blink at him like, “Okay, Beethoven. How. How did you know that.”
Once you realize he can, like, actually play the piano and violin really well you’re always begging him to play for you. It doesn’t happen often—it’s not like he owns a violin anymore and he certainly doesn’t have a grand piano in his shitty college apartment—but sometimes you sneak into the music room when it’s empty and he’ll play something for you.
He’s a romantic at heart, so he doesn’t mind, and if anything kind of enjoys you watching him play. It’s much better than playing for random parents in a recital. You’re dead if you ever mention it to any of his friends though.
Also not a frat boy, but definitely likes to party. Everything with reason. If he crushed a midterm on Thursday, he deserves to throw back a few beers on Friday night, you know?
Touchy when he’s drunk. Well, touchier than normal; he’d be the most affectionate out of every one on a regular basis. But he’s touchy and messy when he’s drunk, so he’s all over you.
Messy, but happy. All smiles and giggles and red cheeks, with his arm around your shoulder, boasting you anybody who will listen about his super hot girlfriend.
He and Eren throw the best parties when they team up together. (Only slightly related, but those two, when drunk together, could probably pass as a couple; they’re so uncharacteristically happy, and affectionate. You may or may not be keeping some photo and video evidence of Eren and Jean drunk cuddling).
Sends you videos when you’re in the middle of class. And only then. He plans it to be annoying. Because he is annoying.
Also always sending you those in-messsage games while you’re in the middle of lecture or studying. “PLEASE play virtual pool with me!! I’ll even let you win one round!!” “I AM TRYING TO LEARN!!” “LEARN LATER 😡😡😡”
A fucking fiend in your Instagram comments. It’s a miracle none of them have been removed or reported for inappropriate content. Replies to OTHER people’s comments complimenting YOU!! He’s so much
@sashabraus: aww you look so cute @youruser!! that color looks so good on you 💕 @jeannotjean: omg omg tysm @sashabraus 😊 i picked it myself @youruser: SHE WAS TALKING TO ME @jeannotjean!!! ME!!! @jeannotjean: @youruser you have no proof 🙄 @youruser: SHE USED MY @!!!! GET OUT OF MY COMMENTS!!! @jeannotjean: you’re so hot when you yell at me via insta comments 🥵🥵🥵 would it be better if i slid into your dm’s instead 😫😫😉 @youruser: @jeannotjean BLOCKED!! EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!!
You try explaining your coursework to him and he’s just looking at you with puppy dog eyes like, “I haven’t a clue what you’re talking about, babe, but you look hot while doing it, so, please, continue.”
He’s another cocky annoying bastard (endearing). Always tilting you head up to look at him and smirk at you. Pisses you off just to put his arm around your shoulder and be like, “It’s okay, I know you love me anyways.” Winks at you in public just to embarrass you. He’s the worst. The worst.
King of picking you up and throwing you over his shoulder for absolutely no reason at all.
He lowkey wants to get an ear piercing and uses you to talk him into it. “Don’t you think I’d look hot with a piercing? I think I would.” “You would look good regardless, Jean. So, do it if you want to.” “Right. But, like.... do you think I would look hot.”
For as annoying and cocky as he can be, the second you actually genuinely tell him you think he’s attractive or talented or whatever, he gets kind of shy. It’s very cute.
Likes trying new restaurants with you, even though he really should stop spending all his money on food. Sometimes trying new restaurants means ordering from a new place, but it’s whatever, you know.
Honestly… the two of you would probably have a ridiculously high Uber Eats bill. You really should go outside and, like, be people every once in a while LOLOL
Okay, but it’s mostly Jean’s fault. For as much as he likes to party, and doesn’t mind hosting a party, he doesn’t do much beyond that. He hangs out with his/your friends, and with you, obviously, but he’s not the kind of guy to have his weekend booked up all the time.
He would much rather stay in with you, and talk trash about his stupid group project partners, and lay on your stomach and try to teach you how to play his favorite video games.
Spoiler: he fucking lies and/or leaves out key parts of the gameplay!! Just so he can crush you and laugh about it!! Annoying, but you’re the one keeping him around, so, who can you really blame but yourself.

could I request a jealous Levi scenario?
Sure thing! I chose to do this in a modern setting so I hope that’s okay!
Summary: Levi gets jealous at the function.
Word Count: 1.6K
Warnings: alcohol, mentions of drugs
__
The loud music pounded against Levi’s already achey head. The alcohol wasn’t helping by any means, the red solo cup filled with cheap beer was mostly untouched. He questioned why he even agreed to leave the comfort of his dorm room to come to the disgusting frat house. Then he remembered, Hange had promised that you’d be there. However you were no where to be seen, he had been sure to linger near the entrance, his back pressed firmly against the wall as he scanned the crowd. The main floor of the frat was heavily crowded with drunk students, obnoxious party music and the unmistakeable scent of weed. He rolled his eyes when he noticed that Hange was plowing her way through the crowd, her glasses were pushed onto the top of her head, revealing her coffee brown eyes, which were a tad bloodshot.
“Levi! You’re literally being the definition of a wallflower right now, come do some shots with Erwin and I!” Hange begged when she reached him, her iron grip closing over his free hand and tugging hard.
“Let go of me four eyes.” He huffed, as he pulled his hand from her grasp as the pair weaved through the dense crowd. Hange obeyed seeing that he was following her. She led him into the dirtiest kitchen that he had ever laid his eyes on, solo cups littered the counters, a rouge bowl of chips sat haphazardly on the edge. A girl with brown hair sat perched on the counter, a puff bar in one hand and a bottle of malibu in the other.
“Sasha! Let me get another hit!” A boy with a beanie begged, making grabby hands at the girl who pulled the nicotine out of his reach.
“Nah.” She said with a cheeky giggle as she took a hit to spite him. Levi frowned when he finally recognized the two of them. He was a TA for their business class, and now he wasn’t so surprised by how low they managed to score on their tests as he watched them grapple for the puff bar. He felt his shoulders loose some of the tension when he spied a familiar head of blond hair, Erwin’s back was to them as he poured out a line of shots into tiny red plastic cups.
“Hey baldy! Where’s (Y/n)?” Hange asked, as she threw an arm over the Connie’s shoulders. He tensed, turning to face her with a confused expression. Levi couldn’t help but turn his attention to their conversation, eager for the boy’s answer.
“Hm that’s a tough one....” Connie said, as he stuck his hand under his beanie to scratch his head in thought.
“She went downstairs a while ago!” Sasha answered for him, her legs kicking against the cabinets loudly.
“Oh yeah that’s right!” Connie said eagerly, taking Sasha’s moment of weakness to snatch the nicotine from her grasp and take a long hit.
“Perfect!” Hange exclaimed as she turned to grab a shot that Erwin had poured and threw the liquor down her throat. Erwin frowned but handed Levi one of the shots. He glanced down at the mystery liquid but ultimately decided that it was better than the warm beer in his hand. He took the shot and glanced at Hange who was now asking the younger students to lead them to the basement. The pair agreed and soon they were weaving back through the crowd. Sasha opened one of the doors down a dimly lit hallway near the bathrooms, the music was not nearly as loud as it was in the main room. The rickety stairs seemed a bit precarious as the group descended them, loudly creaking under their combined weight. Once they reached the basement, Levi found himself to feel more at ease with the lack of people. The scent of weed was strongest here, a group of underclassmen sat on the sofa which was so crowded that some of them were sitting on each others laps. Their head turned to see who had joined them, they all cheered when Sasha and Connie waltzed in with their hands up. But Levi’s eyes were busy searching for you. He found you at long last sat on the arm of the couch, an arm thrown over Eren’s shoulders as he took a hit from the bong. Your face was so close to his, a dopey grin on your perfect lips. He felt a nasty feeling bubble in his stomach, the relief of seeing your familiar frame subsiding almost instantly. Hange and Erwin were being interrogated by the underclassmen, who seemed surprised to see their TAs at the party. Levi’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenching as Eren passed you the bong, which you took a long drag from.
“There’s my favorite little bio major!” Hange cried as she practically knocked you off the sofa, her arms wrapped tightly around you as you tried to keep the bong from falling. Eren took it from you and passed it to the next dimwit before disaster could strike. The laugh that you let out made Levi’s heart beat pick up a few paces as he watched you return Hange’s hug.
“Hange! What’re you doin here?” You asked, your words a bit slurred as Hange now succeeded in pulling you off the couch to embrace you fully.
“Came to see you of course!” She giggled, burying her nose in your hair as the two of you rocked as you hugged. Your eyes finally found Levi, standing at the foot of the stairs with a scowl on his delicate features.
“For me?” You said as you shot him a sly smile, his head whipped away in embarrassment of being caught staring.
“Duh.” Hange said, finally releasing you and turning to follow your eyes.
“He’s been asking for you all night.” She whispered and you blushed at this. You’d had the pleasure of meeting Levi only a handful of times, usually during your study sessions with Hange for bio.
“Why me?” you asked curiously, as Hange pushed your towards him.
“Isn’t it obvious? He likes youuuuu.” She cooed as she continued to shove you across the room. You stumbled a bit and caught yourself on the wall, Levi was only a few paces away, his cool eyes watching the pair of you with intrigue.
“Leave her along shitty glasses.” Levi scolded, turning and closing the distance between you.
“Sorry big guy, I’ll just be-” She jabbed her thumb back in the direction of the couch and darted away, tackling Erwin from behind. Levi scoffed and you giggled, still leaning against the wall to keep yourself steady.
“Hey.” you said a bit sheepishly as you gave him your full attention at last.
“Hi.” Levi grumbled, propping himself up against the wall as well.
“So...what brings you here?” You asked knowingly as he clicked his tongue, nose scrunching as he considered the hint of teasing in your tone.
“Not the beer.” He answered, you let out a bark of laughter at that, much to his pleasure.
“Then what?” You pressed, giving him doe eyes as he set his cup down on the small table to his right.
“You know what.” Levi huffed and you smiled up at him triumphantly, your hand reaching for his. Your fingers laced with his and his heart felt as if it was about to leap out of his chest.
“Come sit with us.” You said softly as he timidly returned the grasp on your hand.
“I’m not into drugs.” Levi said, his gaze shifting off of you momentarily to see Eren staring at the two of you.
“Okay...then let’s go outside. It’s really nice out.” You offered and Levi nodded, you led the pair of you back up the stairs and through the crowd. His hand firmly grasped in yours as you ducked around drunk college students. Finally you reached the back porch of the frat, which was littered with cups, but otherwise empty. The frat was perched on one of the highest hills above campus, overlooking the sprawling space. The lights twinkling brightly in the distance.
“Honestly wasn’t expecting to see you here.” You hummed as you leaned against the railing, Levi mirrored you, his elbow brushing yours as you looked out at the campus.
“I don’t usually...come to these places.” Levi said, his eyes focused with an odd intensity on the landscape, while yours were trained on his side profile.
“I’m glad you came.” You said sweetly, leaning your head against his shoulder boldly. He turned and looked down at you, surprised with the sudden affection, but not opposed. After a moment you picked your head up, eyes shining in the low light as you looked up at him softly. Levi turned, waiting for you to speak, but your eyes were tracing his face, landing on his lips, pressed into a tight line. Your eyes flicked back to his own, your hand leaving the railing in favor of holding his hoodie sleeve. He leaned against the railing, his back pressed into the wood. You followed him, pressing your chest to his, nose brushing his, you smiled, your breath fanning over his lips.
“I really like you Levi.” You assured him as he sat stiffly under you, at your words he seemed to relax a bit, his other hand looping around your waist, his thumb digging into your hip.
“You’re...not the worst.” Levi kicked himself mentally at the response, but you didn’t seem to mind. Another breathy chuckle and then your lips were on his, soft and smooth. He sighed as he pulled you impossibly closer, allowing himself to sink into you at long last.

AOT Characters When Drinking HCs
My friend and I were talking the other day and made some HCs about the AOT characters when they’re drunk— I shall share a them here 😎🤙
cw// alcohol, vomit
modern au shit so this like doesn’t apply season 4 characterization
The 104th Gang
Eren:
- Angry drunk
- To quote my friend, you would say something around him and he's just "ohmmy GODDD shutttt the fuck UP”
- It literally doesn’t matter what you say he will tell you to shut up
- Picks fights for no fucking reason, especially with Jean
- If they’re out to drink he would start a fight with a stranger
- Mikasa literally has to drag him away from fights
- Probably drinks too much and vomits for HOURS and then brags about how high his alcohol tolerance is
- Claims he doesn’t get hangovers but everybody knows he’s lying because he will absolutely just zone out of every conversation the next day
- Always looks like he is on the verge of vomiting again
Mikasa:
- Does not drink because she has to babysit Eren
- However when she does she does not drink a lot
- Probably gets like really flustered and embarrassed, maybe a little touchy b/c her head hurts or something
- Like she’ll lay her head on Sasha’s shoulder meanwhile Eren and Jean are yelling at each other in the background
- Does get a hangover but usually it’s just a headache and she’ll be EXHAUSTED
Armin:
- COMPLETE fucking lightweight oh my god
- Do not give this man alcohol he will absolutely get wrecked
- One glass of wine is probably enough to get him tipsy
- I can’t decide if he would be the kind of person that gets really emotional and cries about everything or if he would go on long drunken rants about the most random shit
- Probably both
- Like he would be crying about the fact that he learned about otters having a favorite rock or this REALLY round corgi he saw last weak and it was just too cute
- Mikasa has to babysit both Eren and Armin whenever he drinks because Eren will absolutely try and drag Armin into his fights
- And with the drunken courage he has Armin would absolutely join in by yelling or hyping Eren up
- He becomes such an enabler
- Would have a hangover if he didn’t pass the fuck out and sleep the entire next day
Connie and Sasha:
- Two for one deal, they are always hanging out whenever they drink
- They’re the most CHAOTIC fucking duo ever, like they would somehow get their hands on a bunch of firecrackers and let loose
- Sasha would probably try and talk to any animals near by
- Connie would be laughing and saying shit like “SASHA the dog can’t fuckin’ talk back 🙄”
- They spend their hangovers bitching and whining about how much it hurts
- Probably would wrap themselves up in blankets in a dark room and snacks and spend the whole day just waiting it out
Jean:
- Same thing as Eren
- Except he also gets more flirty, but it’s not good and usually he ends up embarrassing himself and scaring away the girl he was talk to
- Finds Connie and Sasha and joins them on their shenanigans if he ain’t arguing with Eren
- Probably claims he has really good ideas and then next thing you know all three of them are in a police station and it’s definitely his fault
- “What the fuck made you think taking that woman’s dog was okay”
- “It looked SAD, Connie! And Sasha helped me!”
- “NO—“
- Spends his hangover day with Sasha and Connie
Historia:
- The most giggly fucking drunk you will ever meet
- Laughs at EVERYTHING and asks really dumb questions because suddenly she just has one brain cell
- Also a lightweight just not as bad as Armin
- Ymir has to babysit her and then when Ymir is drunk is the other way around
- They take good care of each other
- Ymir thinks she’s the most adorable thing ever and probably gives into every dumbass request Historia makes
- “Ymir! Let’s go out to eat!”
- “Hist, it’s 2am.”
- “So? There’s someplace open somewhere!”
- “...Fine.”
- Also sleeps her hangover off but Ymir has some water and pain meds ready for whenever she wakes up
Ymir:
- Oh dear lord she becomes very cocky and flirty
- Hangs off Historia’s shoulders the whole time and absolutely starts a fight with whoever looks at her gf
- Eren tried to fight her once and he got his shit beat
- The next day she would be so dramatic about how much pain she’s in just to get Historia to pay attention to her
- And ofc Historia always does < 3
The Warriors:
Reiner:
- Mans becomes such a an emotional bro
- Like he will throw an arm around literally anyone and go off about how much he just thinks they’re the darndest thing
- “Bert have I ever told you how great you are?”
- “All the time. Like a lot. You’ve said it 12 times in the last 10 minutes. Are you okay?”
- Completely denies it happened the next day and pretend he doesn’t feel like shit
- Bertholdt would find him dead to the world on the couch in some weird ass position and then force him to get up and go to bed
- “Dude you smell like ass.”
- “Shut up and just get me some water please.”
Bertholdt:
- Does not drink a lot at all especially around the 104th
- He has to make sure nobody fucking dies, especially Reiner and Annie
- He would have a beer or five with Reiner every so often and then he’s like really clingy and cuddly
- He’s embarrassed about it the next day and also pretends he never got hammered
- Sometimes one of the 104th will walk into their house and Bertholdt would be squished betweeen the fridge and the counter
- He has somehow made his way into the kitchen and will just fall asleep it the weirdest fucking places
- Reiner leaves him there because he feels to bad to move him when he looks strangely comfortable all twisted
- Whenever he and Reiner drink together they will send drunk snaps to their friends
- “Bertholdt just messaged me???”
- “Is he with Reiner?”
- “Yeah I think s— oh no.”
Annie:
- Doesn’t drink a lot either but when she does she also tries to start fights with people
- It never works out and she ends up having really deep and heartfelt conversations with them
- Like I imagine her trying to fight Armin and he’s just shaking I’m his boots and then she just stops and says
- “Ya know, sometimes I get really sad...”
- And so begins the start of their friendship
- For all the AruAni shippers I feel like she would be really protective of Armin and make sure nobody starts anything with him
- Or if they’re with Eren and the gang she will throw hands with Eren if he tries to drag Armin into his disputes
- She also probably hangs around Mikasa to make sure she’s okay and to pretend to hate it whenever Mikasa lays on her shoulder or thigh because she feels sick
- Banysits Reiner and Bertholdt whenever they’re drinking together, and then bullies the fuck out of them the next day
- “You guys are dumbasses.”
- “It was REINER’S idea!”
The Veterans-
Levi:
- DOES NOT DRINK even though he absolutely would
- He like becomes such a fucking mom lowkey especially whenever the kids are getting out of hand
- He’s dealing with a bunch of toddlers plus Hange and Erwin come on
- “Don’t touch that.”
- “Put that down.”
- “Quit yelling.”
- He never offer to clean them up or get them anything because that’s disgusting, however he does make sure everybody is at okay before leaving
- Like that they’re all breathing or nobody is missing
- After that he’s out and then the next day he just stares at them like the most disappointed parent ever
- He tolerates Hange and Erwin a little more, like they both get clingy and he actually lets them just hang off of him or something even tho he hates it
- Would probably hold Hange’s hair back if she throws up, or at least make sure it’s tied up. He has to resist the urge to vomit himself because he just cannot handle it at all
- But then he would just leave her on the bathroom floor asleep
Erwin:
- Oh boy he probably gets so emotional
- The complete opposite of his usual personality it’s so fucking funny
- Will cry about anything and once again like Reiner and Hange will talk about how great you are
- Doesn’t remember SHIT the next day and literally has no clue he acts like this and refuses to believe it whenever somebody tells him
- Hange recorded it once and he just “😐 Delete that, please.”
- Hangs around Levi and is very grateful that he lets Erwin be an annoyance
Hange:
- Tells the kids to be careful with alcohol and then immediately is found face down in a bush
- She becomes like 10 times more bubbly and absolutely batshit
- Laughs really loudly at everything
- She and Armin would get into excited like half conversations about fun science facts or whatever
- Like they absolutely geek the fuck out
- She also probably goes off about how much she loves everyone
- “LEVIIIIII!!! You’re so WOMDERFUL!”
- “Thanks. Now get off of me, bitch.”
- Levi has to babysit her and Erwin LMAO he’s the designated driver every single time
- Always knows the perfect cure for a hangover so she doesn’t usually have a really bad one
This turned out A LOT longer than I thought it would be, oops! Anyway I love doing these so I’m gonna start making more. I will probably do a lot for AOT and Hetalia so 😗✌️ prepare for cringe

Lovesick. — Levi Ackerman.
SYNOPSIS: In a world infested with mindless, horrendous human-chomping titans, you’d never expected that Levi taking care of you was how you’d go out.
WC: 2.3k
PAIRING: Levi Ackerman x Reader
GENRE: Fluff
A/N: this is my first time writing for levi/aot in general and just overall my first time in a long time from doing creative writing i hope you guys like it!
In truth, Winter has never been your most favorite time of the year.
After all, those delicious hot meals, thick blankets, and cozy naps by the fireplace always came with a price for you every single year, wherein the same chilly weather that granted you those several pleasures only betrayed you and bit you in the ass annually, reeling you in again and again for recurring nightmarish sicknesses.
For as long as you remember, you’ve never fared well with such drastic change in weather. Ever since you were a little girl, your fevers were sky high enough to make your mother lose at least a year off her life with every time they checked your temperature around the dreaded season.
Thus even now, as a distinguished and mighty cadet in the Scout Regiment, there you lay, thrashing in wrinkled sheets with a spiking fever of 103° Fahrenheit.
It was quite an unraveling series of events. Perhaps you should have let it be known much earlier to your squad and superiors.
Maybe they would have taken your sudden, voracious collapse against a blushing Jean in the mess hall a little less seriously.
You could still recall those same goofy shrieks of surprise from your squad members with a grin. The look on Connie’s face was absolutely priceless.
But as you stared up at the ceiling, sweat beading at your hairline and mouth clammy with dehydration, your mind could only render and wring out the possible reactions that could have emitted from your Captain Levi.
Ever since you joined the squad, you’d been naturally drawn and fond of him. His cold demeanor seemed to be just a thin layer between a complex personality, and as much as you hated to admit, you desperately, secretly wanted to claw underneath that sheen.
It started with one sleepless night in which you brought yourself to the kitchen to rid yourself of your heavy mind with a book, only to find your captain sitting idly with a cup of tea.
You remembered the first encounter, how you babbled apologies like some sort of nitwit and he scowled and waved you off, uttering an, “it’s not like I own the damn room, quit being an idiot and do what you need,” before you dejectedly nodded and took a seat with a book just some feet away from him.
The insomnia seemed to grow only more and more, and a few more awkward nightly greetings later, it became a routine. He slowly began to acknowledge you, humming short replies and holding small talks every now and then.
Then on the field and during training he mindlessly complimented you. In his own way, of course.
A grumble of, “you didn’t get killed,” or, “you didn’t look like complete shit out there,” were some hearty examples of that.
Time went on as you began to loosen up even more around the squad, shamelessly poking fun at your members and joking around with them constantly. Even berating the Captain every now and then with snarky remarks that earned hesitant chuckles and gasps from your team, and even sometimes, if you looked really closely, a smirk from the Captain himself.
So with your poor little heart, ready to yearn, there was a spark of fondness towards him. One you wish would smother before it fanned out even more.
Damn him.
You wondered what he had thought when he saw you faint atop of Jean, that poor boy. How ridiculous you must have looked. How humiliating it must have been.
“God, I could die,” you groan aloud and fling your body on your side, hands coming to grasp at the roots of your scalp.
“That is quite an exaggeration, don’t you think?”
That voice. Speak of the devil.
Instantly, you spring up to meet his gunmetal gaze, hissing at the speed that caused your brain to seemingly rattle in your head with fatigue.
He tsks his tongue, brows furrowing together in an unamused manner as he walks towards the table across your bed. You swallow gently, gaze averting to the tray he holds with a small teapot, one teacup, and liquid medicine. You grimace.
“Oi...” Levi begins without looking back at you. You look to his stature expectantly. “You look like shit,” he says, finally twisting his torso to lock with your gaze.
A breathy, sarcastic laugh escapes your lips.
“Gee, you have such a way with words, Captain Suave,” you croak out with a roll of your eyes before easing your posture, allowing yourself to slouch.
“Don’t call me that.”
With his back faced to you once more, Levi feigns an aggravated grumble, yet the ghost of a grin still resides on his face. You watch in silence as he begins to move around the things on the tray.
You take your time to drink in the sight. His raven undercut, bangs slightly covering his handsome face, his white button-up rolled up at the sleeves showing off his veiny forearms, his black pants and leather shoes, the look of faint concentration on his sculpted face as he pours the contents of the teapot into the cup... and God, his hands. So slender and delicate, his fingers nice and long and—
Shit. What are you doing?
You take a deep breath and compose yourself in time before he turns at you again, bored look on his face as he approaches you with a cup of tea and the tiny bottle of medicine.
“Never thought I’d have to babysit one of my most promising Cadets,” Levi drawls out, handing you the teacup. Your fingers graze against his as you accept it, breath hitching in your throat slightly.
You fight off the gooey feeling by occupying yourself with his crude words.
Scoffing, you take a small sip of your tea, only to frown at the feeling of hotness. Levi’s brow arches in question.
“Who said you had to, Captain?” You say softly. “You’re busy. Why didn’t you ask Sasha to come instead? She would have brought me some good food, too.”
“Stolen you food, you mean. And what? You don’t like my tea?” He husks out, to which you perk up in realization.
Quickly, you shake your head to deny his question. “The tea is lovely. But I’m pretty sure my body is hotter than that teapot, and quite frankly the warmth feels suffocating,” you preach.
“Plus, you’re busy. And I look — indecent. You said it yourself,” you whisper the last part shyly, gulping down another sip of tea.
Levi feels taken aback. Surely you hadn’t taken offense to his comment, right? Brat, he thinks to himself.
“Tea is good for when you’re sick. You’re nauseated. Did you expect us to give you some sweet or cold crap while you have a fever?” He says sharply, squinting slightly.
You chuckle a bit at that.
Waving your hand, you grumble. “Yeah, yeah, whatever you say,” you roll your eyes.
“Quit rolling your eyes at me.”
“Quit giving me a reason to.”
“Oh, you want me to give you a reason to roll your eyes back, Cadet?”
Your gaze widens and you feel yourself choke on your tea.
Your arm bolts to set your cup onto the nightstand and you glare up at him. You swear you see the faintest hint of amusement glint in those stupid grey eyes of his.
Suddenly, you’re feeling a little too hot. And you’re sure it’s not your fever.
Levi raises his brows, unimpressed as he leans forward. Slowly, he brings his hand to your forehead and presses his cold fingers against you. You feel your heart stutter in your chest, holding in your breath.
“You’re burning up.”
Wow, I wonder why.
“Yea? Tell me about it. I’m literally feeling all of it as we speak, old man.”
He clicks his tongue in irritation, straightening his back before jolting his arm at you with the bottle expectantly. “You’re better off holding your tongue, Cadet. Now take your medicine.”
Your face scrunches up. He narrows his eyes as you cross your arms and look elsewhere.
“L/N.”
“No.”
“Now.”
“No! It tastes gross.”
His eye twitches at your defiance.
“God, this is like talking to a little kid. Take it or I swear-“
“No.”
“Take the damn medicine. And that’s an order, Cadet.”
You look up at him with a scowl. Hesitantly, you take the bottle before unscrewing it, taking your sweet time until finally you down it reluctantly.
Meanwhile, your Captain stands with his arms crossed, albeit satisfied that you finally listened.
Once it goes down your throat, you gag slightly.
“God, this shit is vile-“
“Language.”
“It’s worse than what we usually take! What is this?”
“Higher grade medicine. I had to ask Erwin and a few of the nurses for even just that small dosage, you damn brat. I need you back on your feet ASAP.”
You blink. He went through trouble just to get you medicine? A fond grin starts to stretch on your lips.
“Thank y-“
“Don’t thank me. It’s my job to keep my Cadets at their best,” he practically half-lies through his teeth.
Oh. Right.
You nod, that fluttery feeling slightly dampening at his words. Of course. You’re just a young woman in his squad. His subordinate.
Levi notices. He doesn’t say anything.
“Now get some rest. I’ll clean up your room. It’s filth in here,” He scrunches his nose.
“Maybe ‘cause I’m sick, smarta- I mean, Captain,” you slur drowsily as you plop down onto the pillows. Whatever you took, it was strong.
The look on his face affirms he didn’t take lightly to your potential word vomit, though he allows to let it slide, much to your favor.
Levi groans, tidying up the teacups and the pile of clothes by the baskets, as well as the used bedsheets. He stops to think what in the hell he’s doing, going out of his way to care for one soldier.
He chalks it up to it simply being a better option than the inevitable mountains of paperwork he has to face later. That was it. Right?
A moderate amount of time had passed until he was satisfied with what he’d done. Levi’s eyes avert to your tiny figure on the bed. Laying flat on your back, arms sprawled beside your head, a dreamy smile on your lips.
The man walks up beside your bed. When you suddenly shift your head towards him, he startles a bit.
A breathy, twinkly giggle leaves your mouth as you look up at him. Levi swears he can feel his heartbeat in his ears.
You pout playfully, pointing an accusatory finger up at him. “Stalker. Are you here to watch me sleep?” You say almost so incoherently, Levi isn’t sure you’re speaking a language.
He can’t help the smile that tugs at his lips at your change of demeanor. So out of character, even for you.
The pout on your lips soon curves into a sleepy grin of your own, and your eyes gloss over with something that makes your Captain’s breath hitch in his throat.
Such gentle, comforting fondness.
When you urge him to get closer, he obliges, slightly bending over your figure despite the rouge in his cheeks. Levi holds his breath as you reach up, fingers threading through his bangs to pull them back.
“You’re pretty when you smile, you know?” You whisper gently, the smile never fading from your obviously far-gone face. “Such a handsome boy.”
Heat rises even more to Levi’s face and he gulps thickly as he watches your arms begin to drop, eyelids following soon after.
A delighted, snoozing hum releases from your throat, and only then does Levi allow himself to breathe.
His eyes glance over you once more.
Soft cheeks, pretty eyes, long eyelashes. The tank top on your torso still allowing you to look like the most stunning thing he’s ever seen. The unruly bed-head hair that sat messily, yet still appearing soft to the touch, making him want to rake his fingers through. Your soft lips, still stuck in that smile. Your flushed face.
Levi sighs dreamily and defeatedly. He brings his hand up to pat at the top of your head.
“Shitty girl,” he says underneath his breath, voice cracking like that of a young boy with an unwavering crush. “You look — decent.”
His brows knit together even more as he thinks it over, finally sighing gently.
“You’re much prettier, Y/N,” he whispers, mostly to himself.
Levi then exits your room, his face still hot with fluster, hands shoved into his pockets, and the giddy feeling in his heart still reigning supreme.
And at the corner of the hall reside the Levi Squad members, spying from afar.
“You owe me your next lunch, Connie. I told you they liked each other!”
“Shut up before he hears you!” Jean scolds quietly.
“Oi,” a voice sounds from behind them unexpectedly.
They all freeze. Their blood turns cold. Armin is sure he’s as good as dead.
“Give me fifty laps outside. All of you. Now.”
“Not bad after feeling shitty for so long,” Levi nods at you as you return from combat training for the day.
You smile brightly, eyes twinkling as you catch your breath.
“Mhm. All because of you. Thanks for-“
“Don’t thank me.”
“I said,” you say firmly. “Thank you for taking care of me. You didn’t have to.”
Levi can only sigh and nod. “Sure.”
You beam at that, beginning to stride past him, before stopping midway.
“Oh, and Captain?” You begin.
He grunts in response, slightly turning your way with that same stoic expression.
“For the record,” you hum sweetly. “I think you’re the prettiest.”
And with that you walk away with a proud smirk, leaving Humanity’s Strongest with a pounding heart and the reddest cheeks mankind has ever seen.

My (negative) thoughts on SNK 138
I will say right off the bat that I was immensely disappointed with this chapter. This was definitely not what I had expected, and, frankly, something that I didn't want. I'm not sure that I will be able to even continue watching the anime, or ever revisit my favorite moments of snk after the way 138 has tainted the entire plotline and butchered so many characters. I'm not going to be polite about this.
Now, with that out of the way, the reasons why I hate this chapter:
1) I'm pissed that the silly reunions of the Warriors with their family members took up so many pages. Except for Falco (and maybe Reiner), I don't give a shit about any of these people, they are awful, selfish human beings, and nothing they've done has been able to redeem them in my eyes. I hate that they almost got their happy endings, as they did not deserve them in the least. Especially Annie who proudly professed that she would commit the Paradis atrocities all over again. Fuck these people.
2) I hate the praise Leonhardt got. A hero? You mean the guy who adopted a little girl and beat her ass daily so that he could mold her into the perfect soldier for a Nazi regime and live in comfort? No. Just no.
3) Literally no one was surprised by Eren coming back. No one. This moment was so contrived that even the characters barely reacted to it. They're like: "oh, you're still alive? Still breathing? Cool, let's kill ya."
4) Levi fucking ABANDONING his squad just like that. No parting words, no emotions, nothing. Does he even care for these people???? HAS he ever cared for them??? First Sasha, and now this?? "Smoke doesn't affect Ackermans and shifters fam, let's bail. Bye SUCKAS!" Just what. The actual. Fuck. Is this his character now? I guess I should've seen this coming. Ever since Erwin died he's only cared about the monkey, and now that the monkey is gone his character is officially dead and a plot device. A one dimensional soldier who's only good for battle scenes, nothing else.
5) What is even Eren's PLAN at this point?? Why the hell would everyone suddenly titanize, what does he GAIN from this?? This is so stupid?? I expected the Rumbling to restart, but no, I guess we're getting this shitty scene of Eren turning his FRIENDS into titans for NO REASON for shock value. Just no, fuck this. I do not accept this.
6) My boys Jean and Connie are really going to go out like this, huh? Titanized for no reason? Slow clap Bravo, Isayama, my expectations have indeed been subverted. But just like with Kathleen Kennedy, I was only impressed by the sheer amount of stupidity that you crammed in at the very end. Congratulations.
7) Armin's whole "you must love this hell" thing.. How, how can you misunderstand Eren so much??? Especially after you've been so desperately defending Marley and the Warriors, after you said yourself that Eren was doing all of this for you?!!!?! JUST HOW IN THE HELL DOES EREN LOVE HELL?!?! Shut up, just shut up you fucking Bertholdt loving idiot, I'm done loving and defending your stupid ass, at this point you should've died in the Serumbowl. But then it would mean Erwin getting butchered in this trainwreck, so I guess I should be glad that Levi made the selfish choice back then.
8) How does Mikasa know where Eren is? Just how?
9) Mikasa's entire dream sequence... I feel sick. Apparently Eren has been reduced to a spineless pussy. You really expect me to believe that the guy whose entire philosophy is to fight would just abandon fucking EVERYTHING to have pity sex with his adoptive sister??? AND THAT THE TWO OF THEM WOULD LEAVE ARMIN WITHOUT TELLING HIM?!?! Just goes to show what a great friend Mikasa is to Armin if this is her perfect world. "What blonde kid? Oooooh, yeah, fuck that guy. I ran away with my looove." Eugh. I can't believe her. She would abandon all of her friends, leave her entire country to sit in some cabin for four years with the guy she's been obsessing over her entire life. Mikasa is a disgusting human being. And her continued gross misunderstanding of who Eren is is just giving me so many stalker vibes. This is not healthy relationship material at all, she seriously needs to get some professional help.
10) If she had confessed Eren would not have used the Rumbling?!?!?! I'm sorry, I just... I can't. I could literally cry from this. My favorite character is now a guy who decided to destroy the world just because he got familyzoned. I... Isayama just spat and shit on everything Eren was, everything he represented, everything he believed in, all the development he went through... I just.. I have no words.
11) That. Fucking. Kiss. Eren did not consent to it and what the hell is wrong with you????? This is so disgusting on soooo many levels???? What porn for necrophiliacs IS this??? I mean, if this was like a Jango fett situation where she just held his head and said goodbye I wouldn't have been so revolted, but HERE I AM, trying not to puke my guts out. To make matters worse, you can actually see the blood pouring out of his neck.
12) Isayama went all out this chapter, that's for sure. He even butchered the character who didn't speak and barely appeared. Ymir, my baby, what have they done to you, sweetheart? I can't believe you're now a creep who's getting her kicks out of seeing people kiss disembodied heads.
All in all, I'm so sad, disappointed and angry beyond belief. I do not accept this.. whatever it is. There were so many ways to give snk a send off that would be remembered for years, but... Isayama really did lie when he said that he wouldn't GOT his own ending. Even if 139 is a masterpiece, it will not salvage this manga, not for me. I honestly feel like the author is so tired of SNK that he began to hate it and this is the result. I have never felt so sickened and betrayed before in my life.
#I feel sick#i was numb at first when i saw the leaks#but now i am angry beyond belief#this is such a huge let down#i really expected more#all the characters are ruined#the entire plot is meaningless#what kind of message are you even sending at this point#this is waaaaaay worse than got season 8#way to ruin everything you've built up over the years#I'm done#I thought I had something to help me through my exams#but guess not#snk 138#rant

Love Your Series Day
Instead of doing a big long post about how much I love Attack on Titan, I decided to put moments that stick out to me and my reaction to when I first watched them
The moment when Hannes picks up the kids and ran and Eren’s mom’s “Don’t go” had me shocked. I HAD to know what would happen to the characters after that. I haven’t watched a lot of anime but AoT has the strongest first episode I’ve personally seen
When Eren got eaten. I was in straight up confusion and denial. I thought either someone is gonna open the belly of a titan and Eren will be saved and then get a mechanical arm and leg, but knowing the official art had him with normal limbs I then thought it was a bad dream someone was having (like Armin). The anime just kept going with no Eren and I was not expecting him to show up again. I was like “omg they literally killed the main character, you can’t do that, can they do that?” the relief and still confusion of Eren coming out of his titan was fantastic to experience
I know kid Eren just stabbed a guy but when he backed up and closed the door, it made me laugh more than it should
I got that Eren was the main character, Mikasa is super strong and dependable in her skills, ……but Armin? I wasn’t sure what “use” he was to the others. Then episode 10 happens when he gives that powerful speech and I knew then his place in this world
Blocking the gate in Trost, that whole scene when we start to see the boulder moving to when Eren finally places it is just so amazing to watch
When Reiner got “squashed” by the female titan and comes out of it with the swelling of the music. I am such a nerd for when music fits a scene just right
Pretty sure my heart stopped when the female titan kicked titan Eren’s head off
Seeing Levi take on the female titan was epic and I knew that moment why exactly he had the title of “Humanity’s Strongest”
It’s a small thing but I really liked how Eren was hiccuping while crying and covering his mouth with his arm. I felt that so much
When I first saw the beast titan….whoooo boy was I sitting there like “WTF IS THAT??” and then it sat down and TALKED. It’s one of the best moments I’m thankful I just got into AoT as season 2 was airing and didn’t get spoiled of anything
Seeing Sasha get spotlight and have it be badass was what made me love her character more
Connie’s titan mom speaking “welcome home” made me have the same expression as Connie
Ooooohhhh my god was the reveal an important part. When it was done so calmly like a normal conversation I was sitting there dumbfounded. That whole scene is just unbelievable with the animation, music, and voice acting. Definitely THE highlight of season 2
Hange doing their excited noise when Eren understands the orders they give him. That made me laugh
Connie stomping on Ymir’s titan head calling her ugly is so funny to me. Like when Reiner says he wants to marry Historia
Historia jumping into action as Barricades kicks in. I had to replay that a couple times, I live for that shit. It got you pumped and the animation going with it was perfect
Hannes dying and Eren falling into a fit of crying laughing oof Kaji did a wonderful job bringing that scene together with his voice
Beasty boy appearing at the end of the season I (jokingly) said “DAD?!” because ya know the glasses look a lot like Grisha’s and well yeah
OVAs
Distress was the one where the exact moment we see Marco at the end saying “I wonder what kind of soldiers everyone will be” and it does the character-looks-off-in-the-distance-with-the-wind-rustling-their-hair I got sad and said to myself “well damn….now I feel bad for not caring that he died before” XD
I would’ve put manga stuff too but I don’t remember having many moments that stick out. Though I do remember reading chapter 77 and was a waterfall of tears as I was saying “ohh noo OHHH NOOO” over and over XD Also seeing the freckled boy in a panel and having to cover my mouth cause I was close to screeching. When I first got into AoT and finally settled on a character, Marco was the one. Now that I’ve been in the fandom for a year and thanks to people talking about how they love their own favorite characters, I’ve gained much appreciation for characters I wasn’t paying much attention to! Season 3 is going to suck now that I like those characters, yay for pain 😅
