Watched the 2000s anime movie of Metropolis with my irl friend since I was celebrating their birthday today and WOW despite the movie having a big issue with its pacing, it still reminded me how much I love the particular aesthetic of “cartoony designs in anime in stories about robots and humans internal conflict with each other”. That is mainly a Tezuka thing but still noticeable in other Japanese media and basically the vibes of mega man.

This movie generally made me wanna go back to Android Kikaider-which isn’t Tezuka but his apprentices work-since I’ve put it off for too long but it has the same exact vibes and just so I can also tackle more series like this down the line because it’ll never not fascinate me how interconnected Japanese robot/sci-fi media is even if the pipeline is crazier with mecha.
