#the continued existence of the exempt/non-exempt status when it comes to OT plus the magical 33 hour threshold for benefits#remain the two of the shittiest fundamentally exploitative and ubiquitous employment practices in the us#if i was cheaper as an hourly they'd pay me as an hourly; i know this because there was someone in another office who got jerked around#because she explicitly signed up as an hourly instead of salaried and they hated it when she was taking home paychecks that were fair#and she eventually quit over cut hours#even though the work burden the second she left became suffocating!#and all the projects she was scheduled out on are now being done by managers with higher payrates regardless#meaning in the long run they're losing even more money than just paying her!
