i found a thrown off slow worm tail yesterday. it makes sense they can do that because they are lizards but it's still wild!
putting it under the cut for mild gore
#you might wonder how i ID the slow worm from just the tail#the answer is i'm the designated slow worm relocater because they set off my moms snake phobia#to be clear my mom doesn't hate snakes#she is genuinely just extremely scared of them and slow worms are snake shaped enough to trigger her fear response#i just go out and gently relocate them into the meadow next to our house. usually while the worm pees on me

What are some of your most animalistic tendencies/traits?
Hmmm... it's hard sometimes to really take notice if I even have any because I feel like I don't experience things as strongly as I see others do, and probably have also repressed a lot of things for like two decades or so before realizing I am nonhuman in 2023. I have to unlearn a lot of things and allow myself to simply exist again.
I was much more open about reacting and acting animalistic as a kid, as I am sure most kids are, but I also was one that probably continued to act animal well past where most would stop — I was playing horses on the playground right up until I went to high school(australia), which is right before an american student would have started middle school — and it was only then I was told I had to "grow up".
A lot of my animalistic tendencies and such are very much internal these days. When younger I would actually hiss at people, now I just mentally growl and wish I had the teeth that I could flash when I'm upset, or even to simply make people realize I am not completely one of them. Now and then I do stomp a foot in frustration or pain and it gives me very ungulate vibes of stomping a hoof. I'm also the animal relocater of the house and I feel like depending on the animal, usually lizards, I can be very prey-drive-hunter-brained. Though I never hurt the animals if I can help it, sometimes they drop their tails though.
I dunno. I personally feel like these are not all that interesting compared to what some others experience, and I also feel I'm not the best at talking about myself. I might ask my mum or something if she thinks I have/do anything that reminds her of animals and such. We'll see.

The only "good" thing about another CC making laptop dying? It had some weird issues with file permissions. I couldn't use the Object Relocater or Outfit Organizer basically at all, and I had to jump through hoops to overwrite files for stuff like the WSO Editor.
I'm looking into buying a refurb and I do have some viable options. It'll probably set me back a couple of weeks in my Simblreen progress. I'm still gonna try to do the big set I've shown sneak peeks for, assuming I can recover the WIP's off the hard drive. The other three gifts might have to be scaled back, or it might just be one gift per weekend. I'm trying not to be too upset about it. It's probably not even my biggest problem right now. I just look forward to Halloween and Simblreen all year, and this week I had a migraine and had to take PTO that might have ruined my ability to take Halloween off and actually go out for the first time since 2018. There's a small chance I can switch shifts with someone, but I'm not counting on it.

Does anyone here dislike spiders? And/or have a fear of them?
-👑
I do not like them.
Dude the other day you fully ran out of the building because there was one inside the choir room piano
NOOOO I DID NOT
I think they’re fine. Don’t bother them, they don’t bother you
Not my favorite. I like tarantulas because you can see them, little spiders not so much
I’m the resident spider killer/relocater. I’m indifferent
I have one that lives in my hair. Her name is Charlotte.
*starts screaming*

Also I think it's an massive issue how much people think of nature as an inherently hostile place that is out to get them in every way and will kill everyone and it's like. no the creature is not going to get me the largest carnivores in this region are really big feral cats lol. my housemate keeps killing spiders because she's like 'um they're in my house?' and it's like we all live in an ecosystem the spiders belong here too also they are not out to get you. and I have friends who work as snake relocaters and they keep getting people going 'help?? I saw a brown snake in my backyard (which is bushland) how do I make sure this doesn't happen?'. And, people have lived in this area for 50,000 years! like we are never going to get anywhere wrt stopping ecological destruction if people keep thinking of the environment as a sinister evil place in opposition to people that sometimes encroaches on their human place which should have no non domestic animals anywhere
#idk I'm just reading a horror novel where the environment is actually out to get them and like. idk I like some aspects of the narrative#but various aspects of the underlying premise are irritating me

Hannah creates simple relocatable vertical arbours for climbing plants. Climbing plants are useful in the garden to make the most of vertical space.
Hannah gets growing on some simple, relocatable growing structures, using concrete reinforcing mesh - known as reo. This steel product can be joined, bent, cut or attached for all kinds of situations and uses.
It comes in a range of sizes and thicknesses but, if cutting, you need some personal protection equipment such as safety glasses, gloves and ear muffs.
To create an arch you need a solid base - Hannah uses star pickets hammered in deeply, placing one in each corner of her new arbour. Because she’s working between terraces, she puts the upper pickets in at an angle to provide more support for her structure.
Hannah uses a thicker mesh with a 9mm bar for stability; the length will depend on how high you want your arch. Hannah recommends a minimum height of 180cm for an arbour; because her family is tall she will go higher - to 2.4m.
For heavy-duty reo it can be hard to bend sheets on your own so get a friend to help.
Secure the mesh to the star pickets with wire; Hannah cuts pieces about 40cm long.
The finished arches are very functional and can support grapes, beans, peas, heavy pumpkins or ornamental climbers such as a climbing rose.
Hannah plants a mixture of deciduous grapes and evergreen native climbers.
Filmed in Hobart, Tasmania.
